The Seattle Seahawks are heading to the Super Bowl after a 31-27 victory over the Los Angeles Rams at Lumen Field. Sam Darnold came up big when it mattered most, connecting with Jaxon Smith-Njigba for touchdown before halftime after taking a crushing hit. Kenneth Walker III punched in the opening score, and the offense executed a masterful five-minute drive that helped close out the game. The defense came up big on a critical fourth-and-four stop, with Julian Love and DeMarcus Lawrence dropping into coverage to stuff the Rams attempt—a play Sean McVay dismissed as "luck" in his post-game comments. Riq Woolen's costly taunting penalty on third down helped give the Rams an opening, leading to an immediate Puka Nacua touchdown. Cooper Kupp proved instrumental in the Seahawks' success, making key third-down conversions against his former team after the Rams organization reportedly urged other teams to lowball him in free agency (which we later cover in the Do Better segment). In the second half of the show, we look ahead to Super Bowl matchup against the New England Patriots. The Seahawks face a Drake Maye-led offense that excels under pressure but lacks some of the firepower of previous opponents. The franchise has a chance to exorcise demons from Super Bowl XLIX and claim the Lombardi Trophy on the 49ers' home turf in Santa Clara, completing one of the most unexpected and satisfying seasons in recent memory. Why Monken, why now? The Bills promote from within after getting rid of Sean McDermott… they hire the guy who was learning from… McDermott… There are only 2 head coaching openings remaining, is Kubiak to the Raiders a done deal? :45- It's Wednesday and that means we start looking ahead to the next Seahawks opponent. Mike Macdonald expects Charles Cross to play this weekend, which is some welcome news after taking a peek at the injury report yesterday. Left tackle backups are a concern though. We take a listen to Cooper Kupp today and it exemplifies just how selfless he is as a leader. Corbin Smith, Emerald City Spectrum doesn't have a surprise injury to report this week, as we had with Sam Darnold's oblique last week. He says it was inevitable that the Seahawks and Rams would meet in the NFC Championship game, given their respective seasons. They are quite evenly matched. What can George Holani do for this team in Zach Charbonnet's absence? Corbin thinks playing at Lumen Field gives Seattle the edge. We do a quick Daily Power Play, plus an awesome Blue Friday event takes place tomorrow and Ian gives you the details. Bruce Irvin, former Seahawks Super Bowl Champion brings back the attitude of the Seahawks' Super Bowl winning defense! He weighs in on the "Dark Side" of the current Seattle defense. Mike MacDonald spoke to the media yesterday and gave his thoughts on turnover differential, Puka Nacua and the health of his quarterback. Sam isn't taking all the reps in practice and we are ok with that. Puka is a force, can the Seahawks defense stop him from getting 200+ yards again? Seattle has a positive turnover differential in every game except against the Rams, is MacDonald concerned about that? :30- MIKE SANDO (The Athletic) What's going to determine this outcome on Sunday? Ken Walker is the guy now that Charbonnet is out- can he handle the workload? Does Mike give Jarrett Stidham a chance to pull off the win over the Patriots? RUNDOWN Mitch and Hotshot Scott reflect on the chaos and anticipation surrounding a third Seahawks–Rams matchup, debating momentum, matchup fatigue, and why this NFC Championship feels destined to be a coin flip despite Seattle's recent dominance. But the segment segues into a January 19th birthday remembrances, including Jean Stapleton, Junior Seau, Walter Jones, and a celebration of Dolly Parton. Mitch and Hotshot Scott relive all three previous NFC Championship Games at Lumen Field, from the 2006 breakthrough to the Miracle in 2014, while setting the stage for a fourth rubber match between the Seahawks and Rams. The discussion centers on the emotional weight of the 12th Man flag tradition following Paul Allen's legacy and the uncertainty around whether Pete Carroll, Jody Allen, or another iconic Seahawk should raise it. Ray Roberts explains why the Seahawks' 41–6 demolition of the 49ers wasn't a surprise, pointing to a confident, physical offensive line and a run game that has fully found its identity. He breaks down Kenneth Walker's late-season burst, the unselfish blocking culture among receivers, and how Sam Darnold's oblique injury hasn't altered Seattle's winning formula. Mitch, Brady Henderson, and Jacson Bevens break down why the Seahawks enter the NFC Championship Game in a stronger position than either previous matchup with the Rams, pointing to rest, home-field advantage, and a run game that has fully come alive. They discuss Sam Darnold's oblique injury, the status of key injuries up front, Kenneth Walker's late-season surge, and how Seattle might better contain Puka Nacua this time around. Mitch and Puck break down the emotional roller coaster of the Rams–Bears game and why the Rams, not Chicago, have always been the Seahawks' true postseason threat. They debate quarterback advantages, Sean McVay's mastery of the Seahawks defense, and whether Seattle's dominant run game and home-field edge can neutralize Matthew Stafford. The conversation also veers into NFC Championship superstitions, the 12th Man flag dilemma, and whether it's too soon for Pete Carroll to make a symbolic return. The Seahawks are headed to the NFC Championship and they'll face a familiar foe in the LA Rams. It was total domination of the 49ers from start to finish as Kenneth Walker ran all over the Niners and the Seahawks defense absolutely shut down Brock Purdy and the 49ers in the 41-6 route. :30- We had some excellent Divisional Round games this weekend from the controversies of the first game of the weekend, through the second OT of the weekend. Denver moved on to the AFC Championship, but not without controversy after some questionable PI calls and a equally questionable interception. RUNDOWN Mitch and Hotshot react to the Seahawks' latest statement win and the stunning reality that a team widely projected to finish under .500 now sits two home wins away from the Super Bowl. They break down why this run feels different from past Seahawks contenders, examine the favorable NFC landscape, and agree there's only one opponent that truly scares them: the Rams. Ray Roberts explains why the Seahawks' ability to run between the tackles and control tempo was the true difference in their win over San Francisco, giving the offense "the remote control" of the game. He details how Mike Macdonald's defense shut down Brock Purdy by eliminating explosive plays, dominating tackles, and keeping constant pressure, while also addressing the benefits and risks of Seattle's first-round bye as they sit two home wins from the Super Bowl. Brady Henderson and Jackson Bevens join Mitch to break down Seattle's 13–3 dismantling of the 49ers, a game that felt like a blowout long before the final whistle. They credit Mike Macdonald's defense for completely erasing Brock Purdy and Kyle Shanahan's offense, while the Seahawks' run-heavy attack controlled tempo and time of possession. The conversation turns to expectations that now come with the No. 1 seed, health heading into the divisional round, and whether any NFC team — Rams included — can realistically challenge Seattle at Lumen Field. Rick Neuheisel joins Mitch to explain how the College Football Playoff quarterfinals exposed the new reality of college football, from Miami's physical formula to Indiana's suffocating defense and Oregon's offensive limitations. He unpacks the NIL and transfer-portal frenzy surrounding stars like Trinidad Chambliss, predicts massive seven-figure payouts for elite quarterbacks, and calls the current system "absolute craziness" headed for a reset.
