As the Seattle Seahawks wrap up their first week of OTAs, it's notable how excited Seahawks fans are about the 2025 team. In this week's show, we pull some of our favorite quotes from press conferences from Abe Lucas, offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Sam Darnold and Ernest Jones. It was one quote in particular from Abe Lucas that has Adam really excited for the upcoming season and why our show has now anointed him as the Seahawks offensive ambassador. The message of the Seahawks using a fullback came through loud and clear via Abe as well as Sam Darnold. Klint Kubiak has taken note of Jalen Milroe's worth ethic and the early hours he's coming into the facility to work. On the defensive side, coordinator Aden Durde talked about what it has meant for the team to have everyone on board for the voluntary portion of OTAs. But how important is it really? We're somewhat conflicted on the importance. We do note the importance of having a pair of linebackers who are in sync with each other. Ernest Jones talked about just how important Tyrice Knight has been in his own development, and how they've been improving their relationship in the offseason. In the second half of the show, Sam Darnold reveals how good (or bad) of a golfer he is. It's the first time in the history of the show that we'll have a starting quarterback who seems to golf regularly. Lumen Field is getting nearly 20 million in upgrades next offseason for the World Cup, but it sounds like only one of the improvements will actually benefit a small portion of Seahawks fans. The audio equipment company Rode is highlighted in the Do Better segment along with organization highlighting mock draft content for 2026. Better at life honors go out to the Steelers organization (for maybe the only time) and to our Seahawks for highlighting its 50th Season game for the upcoming year. Seattle is gearing up to host some big events this summer – from music festivals to early World Cup matches. The Sounders will host their first FIFA Club World Cup match on Sunday June 15 at Lumen Field. June is also Pride Month, with all kinds of LQBTQ+-focused celebrations planned throughout the city. It’s a time when law enforcement agencies are tasked with keeping people safe, and respecting free expression. And that balance has gotten extra difficult in recent weeks here in Seattle, after duelling protests by queer demonstrators and their allies and fundamentalist Christian groups. So we wanted to invite the Seattle Police Department, and the city of Seattle on to talk about how they’re approaching public safety this summer. And a note: this conversation was recorded on Friday, prior to this weekend’s protests in Los Angeles, and the mobilization of the National Guard. Guests: Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes Seattle Chief Public Safety Officer Natalie Walton-Anderson Related stories: Cal Anderson protest: No charges (yet), Parks says nope to August, FBI threat, and ‘mostly silent’ vigil planned outside Seattle church - Capitol Hill Seattle Blog 8 more arrests at dueling protests, this time at Seattle City Hall - Seattle Times 14 indicted on charges of drug trafficking in Chinatown International District - Seattle Times Thank you to the supporters of KUOW, you help make this show possible! fWotD Episode 2868: 2020 Seattle Sounders FC season Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia’s finest articles. The featured article for Wednesday, 12 March 2025 is 2020 Seattle Sounders FC season. The 2020 season was Seattle Sounders FC's twelfth season in Major League Soccer (MLS), the top flight of professional club soccer in the United States. It was the 37th season played by a professional team bearing the Sounders name, which had originated in 1974 with the first incarnation of the franchise. The team was under the management of Brian Schmetzer in his fourth full MLS season as head coach of the Sounders.Seattle were the reigning MLS Cup champions, having defeated Toronto FC 3–1 in the 2019 final at their home stadium, CenturyLink Field (renamed Lumen Field in November 2020). The season began with two home matches but was suspended on March 12, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic; the second Sounders match had reduced attendance due to the pandemic's spread in the Seattle metropolitan area. MLS resumed with a special tournament in July hosted in the Orlando area, and teams returned home a month later to play in matches behind closed doors. The Sounders only played 22 regular season matches, mostly against opponents in the Western Conference, due to a shortened schedule and several canceled matches. The 2020 Campeones Cup was canceled along with the 2020 U. S. Open Cup.Seattle qualified for the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs as the second-placed team in the Western Conference, determined by points per game due to the unbalanced number of games played by MLS teams during the season. The Sounders defeated Los Angeles FC, FC Dallas, and Minnesota United FC at home to win a second consecutive conference championship and qualify for MLS Cup 2020, where they lost 3–0 to Columbus Crew SC.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 03:46 UTC on Wednesday, 12 March 2025.For the full current version of the article, see 2020 Seattle Sounders FC season on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Justin.

Welcome to the Vikings Postgame Report. The Minnesota Vikings won their 8th game in a row by defeating the Seattle Seahawks 27-24 at a rainy Lumen Field. The win was the Vikings first victory in Seattle since week 7 of the 2006 season. Justin Jefferson had a season high 144 receiving yards on 10 receptions and 2 touchdowns. Jordan Addison had the other receiving touchdown on 5 receptions and 35 yards. Aaron Jones was a key part of the offense with 18 rushes, 67 yards on the ground, and another 26 yards through the air. Sam Darnold had another great game, finishing with 246 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and a 112.3 QBR. Darnold tied Peyton Manning and Steve McNair by winning his 13th game as a quarterback in the first season with a new team. Kicker Will Reichard was perfect again today with 3 extra points and 2 field goals, including a 52 yarder in the 2nd quarter. As for the defense, the guys stepped up the pressure in the 2nd half and only gave up 10 points on 6 drives for the Seahawks. Andrew Van Ginkel had 2 sacks on Geno Smith, Dallas Turner had an interception in the 2nd quarter, and Theo Jackson sealed the victory with an interception in the final minute of the game. Paul Allen and Pete Bercich breakdown the win in the 'emerald city,' including: the level of resiliency the Vikings continue to produce on a weekly basis, the growth in the Jefferson-Darnold connection, Kevin O'Connell's historic coaching start, the ability to stay poised in tight games, and the team's young players stepping up in big moments. Plus, Kevin O'Connell and Sam Darnold spoke in the postgame press conferences about the victory. It's been a hot topic this season, especially this week after Green Bay fans turned out strong at Lumen Field to watch their Packer team pummel the Seahawks 30-13 in yet another Seattle loss at home. What's REALLY the problem, and can it be fixed? The answer may not be as simple as you think. This episode is brought to you by BetterHelp. The Seahawks have a tougher road ahead down the stretch as compared to the Rams, who they face in the final game of the season. Ian revisits the news of Dickert's departure yesterday and doesn't blame anyone for their emotions, regardless of what they were. Stewart Mandel, The Athletic understands the position the Cougars are in right now and explains the reasons why Jake Dickert may have opted to head to Wake Forest. Who might be decent candidates to replace him? Michael Vick is heading to college football to coach - how will he fare? We take a look ahead at the bowl games as well as the CFP this year. We hear from interim WSU HC Pete Kaligis following bowl practice today. Anne McCoy, Washington State Athletic Director joins Ian to talk about Jake Dickert's departure from the program. She's looking ahead and understands that these things happen in CFB but admits the players likely didn't expect their coach to leave prior to the bowl game with how close we are to it. Why was Pete Kaligis the right person to take over as interim? Timing-wise, she doesn't want to rush this process and a lot of candidates are still coaching. She feels it should happen soon, but won't sacrifice a good candidate to save a few days. Opposing fans coming into Lumen Field and taking over is new to this fanbase - but the Seahawks need to control what they can, which is winning. That would help when it comes to fans. In The Daily Power Play! We have a new sponsor coming on and a new player on the Kraken from whom we hear. Corbin Smith, Seahawks Maven and Locked on Seahawks joins us to take a look ahead at tonight's Thursday night matchup, which is sneaky good. Who is to blame for the Seahawks woes when we see them struggle? Also, why has the Seahawks' offensive line regressed? Good playcalling can mitigate poor offensive line play, so Corbin does lay some at the feet of OC Ryan Grubb.

Jon Wilner from the San Jose Mercury News joins the show to talk about the CFP, coaching carosel, transfer portal, and more. Who do we blame for the opposing fans raiding Lumen Field? The Fans or the team? We hear from UW Football Head Coach Jedd Fisch about the opening of the transfer portal, and more.
The Green Bay Packers came into Seattle for Sunday Night Football and smacked the Seahawks in the mouth, jumping out to a commanding early lead and coasting from there to a 30-13 victory. In the process, the Seahawks fell out of the playoff race, and their odds to make the playoffs have dropped to 25%. My thoughts on the debacle at Lumen Field, and what lies ahead for this Seattle team. This episode is brought to you by BetterHelp. The Vikings running game proved to be the spark the Vikings offense needed, finished with 114 yards on the ground and 2 touchdowns. Friday's Daily Puck Drop with Jason “Puck” Puckett featured Jim Moore, the Go-2-Guy, who joins Puck every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Also, stopping by for their weekly visits are sports handicapper, Troy West, from TroyWins.com and Chris Egan from KING 5. Puck and Jim start off the show wrapping up Halloween in Seattle and in Bend, where Jim lives. After that they jump into the storyline that Seahawks fans are becoming soft and not showing up to the stadium anymore like they once did and are selling their tickets to opposing fans who are now taking over the stadium. Puck says the narrative that Lumen Field is being taken over by opposing groups is lazy and low hanging fruit. He explains to Jim his reasoning. The Cougs basketball team is headed to the Maui Invitational in 2025 and Puck and Jim are fired up and can't wait to go! They turn their attention to the Rams game on Sunday and they play a clip from Lofa Tatupu's appearance with Puck on Thursday on his key for the game Sunday against the Rams. Puck and Jim welcome Troy West, from TroyWins.com to the show to go over the betting favorites for the weekend in college football and the NFL. Troy nailed his Lock of the Week last week and gives his lock for this week as well. Chris Egan, KING 5, joins the show to wrap up a Friday and he and Puck discuss whether or not Seahawks fans have become apathetic and is it no longer a great home field advantage. Should fans that sell their tickets to opposing fans have their season tickets pulled?Egan thinks Halloween is dead and kids don't care about it as much anymore. You think it's true? do kids not care about it anymore. Chris also highlights a great trip to Sumner this past Friday for the King 5 “Big Game of the Week” and noted how awesome the environment was and that every high school should model that experience after what Sumner does. Finally, “Hey, What the Puck!?” Puck wraps up the show giving his thoughts one more time on Seahawks fans and whether or not there is truly a problem with them selling their tickets to opposing fan bases and has the fan base become soft?Puck also notes about his new Puck's Posse Community membership with Patreon. RUNDOWN Peoria, Illinois, Sam Kinison, Richard Pryor, and a listener critique from VG. The Seahawks' struggle, Huskies unexpectedly lose to Indiana, and the Kraken are evolving. Lumen Field ain't what it used to be. Mitch Levy, Brady Henderson, and Jacson Bevins analyze Seattle's 31-10 beat down from the Buffalo Bills. The Seahawks' lackluster and error-prone performance, such as a snap over the quarterback's head and an offensive lineman stepping on Geno Smith's foot, are an embarrassment. Are we seeing some inter-team tensions? Much to debate about Seattle's dependence on star wide receiver DK Metcalf, whose absence allowed Buffalo to pressure Seattle's offense easily. CBS College Football Analyst Rick Neuheisel talks with Mitch acknowledging his 4-5 prediction record on the show. Neuheisel discusses Ohio State's playoff chances, the unpredictability of Texas A&M's quarterback situation, and the exciting atmosphere at Texas A&M's Kyle Field. They also touch on the struggles of Ohio State's head coach, Ryan Day, with Neuheisel suggesting that the team seems burdened by pressure. Neuheisel makes a few more risky predictions. Mitch Levy checks in with RJ Eskinos and Dylan Travers of Emerald City Hockey to discuss the Seattle Kraken's mixed start to the season and its significance in light of high expectations and a potential NBA return to Seattle. The new coaching staff has increased the team's speed and aggressiveness, leading to closer games and an improved defense. Can the Kraken realistically talk about playoff contention? Mitch shares thoughts on the upcoming Apple Cup, which will be played earlier than usual in September at Lumen Field, questioning Washington's chances against Washington State. The Mariners' slim playoff hopes, are they still in it? The Seahawks' first game of the season ended with a 26-20 victory over the Denver Broncos, a performance characterized by a strong defense but struggles on the offensive line.
