On this episode, I release the full recording from our first ever live podcast show. It was filmed at the Just Trek Podcast 3 Year Anniversary celebration on Sunday, April 2nd at Party Beer Co. in Los Angeles. The guest panel featured local legends Robert Martinez (creator of Parliament of Owls), Mary Forgione (former editor at LA Times The Wild), Daisy Martinez (founder of Wellness on the Trails), and myself as the moderator. We chatted about what makes the LA + SoCal Great Outdoors so great for each one of them personally, their feelings towards the historical rainfall and massive snow storms that slammed our region, how spending extensive time in nature has impacted their overall life, and the one must do experience every Angeleno & SoCal outdoor enthusiast should do in their life at least once. After the group discussion, we opened up a live Q&A to the audience so that everyone could join in on the fun and ask the guests their own questions. The overall group panel talk was inspirational, impactful, informative, entertaining, and such a blast of time. Meet Daisy, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor in San Diego. The academy Daisy works at had to quickly adjust, like many other small businesses, to the ever-changing covid19 restrictions. Initially this resulted in virtual sessions as well as a loss of students. Now the school has brought back limited in person training as well as keeping zoom classes. In this episode we talk about how Daisy got into Jiu Jitsu and started teaching it, how she's adapted to the pandemic, and how it has all changed her life. We also talk about her childhood, specifically growing up as a Mexican-American, and dealing with the pressure of proving her American-ness.IG: @bridgetobetterMusic: @klrblndsiddyEmail: bridgetobetterpodcast@gmail.com

Daisy Martinez founded Trash Free Earth so her neighborhood park would look better. The idea spread and Trash Free Earth now hosts regular cleanups where a diverse collection of volunteers come together to make a park look beautiful. Trash Free Earth has created a patch challenge. People who accomplish all five elements of the challenge receive an exclusive patch. If a park hosts a cleanup, it will reinforce the idea that the park is responsible for cleaning up. If a community organization organizes and hosts a cleanup, it will spread the idea that the community is responsible for keeping their parks clean. You can Follow Trash Free Earth on Twitter and Facebook.
