Oct 4, 2020. Join us in worship as we see that God has invited us to a great feast! Will you say "Yes!"? The weeklong symposium, "The Great Awakening Meets a Just Awakening", wraps up with this worship service, with a sermon preached by Canon Carrie Headington from the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. We also sing - for just the second time - a new hymn composed by Rev. Dr. Paul Detterman for this symposium. It is the 250th commemorative anniversary since the death of George Whitefield, and it is also time for another look at systemic racism. Throughout the week we are examining the history of the church in America as a partner in racism, and looking to the future so the church can become a partner in obliterating racism. Sept. 27, 2020. When we aren't seeing things very clearly, it may be time for God to give us a second touch for renewal and healing. Or a third, or a twenty-seventh. (In these Covid-careful days, this service was held outside.) The book of Revelation, the longest letter in the New Testament, was written by the old apostle John. It is a letter of encouragement from Jesus to the churches in 90 AD (and today!), regarding who Jesus is, what Jesus is doing, and how the church is to live in the midst of crisis and turmoil. It is a message we need today. Discover more in this first sermon in a new series called Living On the Edge. Preached by Rev. Dr. Sara Singleton on Sept 6, 2020. “Social media is a communication platform and kids are at a point where they don't always recognize that what they put out on the internet is permanent,” says Owen. One of the strengths of social media is that you can talk to anyone, anywhere, at anytime. A weakness is that what people put out there might not be the most positive.
