George Whitefield didn't just preach the Word — he lived it. In this episode, we explore the fiery preaching ministry of George Whitefield, the power of Scripture memory, and why God's Word must move from our heads into our hearts and daily lives.Too many Christians know verses without truly being transformed by them. Whitefield's life reminds us that Scripture was never meant to stay inactive. The Word of God is living, powerful, and life-changing when it is obeyed, treasured, and proclaimed.

The Preacher Who Emptied Franklin's Pockets #America250 #Nation250 #Nightlight #RTTBROS “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?"”— Romans 10:14THE STORYBenjamin Franklin did not believe everything George Whitefield preached. He said so himself. But he admired the man enormously, and the story of their friendship is one of the most charming and revealing in all of American history. Franklin, the great skeptic, became one of Whitefield's closest friends, his American publisher, and on at least one memorable occasion, an unwilling donor.Franklin attended one of Whitefield's outdoor meetings in Philadelphia with his pockets full of money and a firm resolution not to give any of it. As Whitefield preached, Franklin felt his resolve weaken. By the time Whitefield finished, Franklin had emptied every coin in his pocket, gold included, into the offering basket. He recorded this story himself, without embarrassment, in his autobiography. He did not claim to have been converted. But he admitted freely that something happened in those crowds that he could not explain by natural means.THE REFLECTIONWhat do we do with Benjamin Franklin? He is perhaps the most theologically complex of the Founders, not a Christian in the evangelical sense, and honest enough not to pretend otherwise. And yet here he stands, publishing Whitefield's sermons and admitting the power of the gospel he had not fully received.Perhaps the lesson is this: the gospel is powerful enough to move even those who resist it. Franklin could not explain what happened in those meetings. He could not reduce it to reason or science. And to his credit, he did not try.Whitefield preached until the day he died, quite literally. He delivered his last sermon standing on a barrel in a field in Newburyport, Massachusetts, and was dead of an asthma attack the next morning. He emptied himself completely for the gospel. Even Franklin wept at the news. The Great Awakening reached people Franklin's philosophy never could. It bypassed the mind and went straight to the conscience. That is always how genuine revival works, not by argument alone, but by the Spirit of God bearing witness to something deeper than intellect.THE PATRIOT'S PRAYERLord, we thank You for preachers who gave everything, men who wore out their voices and their bodies in Your service, who believed the gospel was worth any sacrifice. Raise up such men and women in our day. Do in us what Franklin could not explain. Empty our pockets and our pride and our resistance to Your Spirit. We do not want to leave a single meeting unchanged when You have been at work. In Jesus' name, Amen.PRAY IT FORWARD: Is there an area of your life you have decided in advance not to give to God? Bring it to Him honestly today and ask Him to do what Franklin's philosophy could not.

The Awakening Before the Revolution #RTTBROS #America250 #Nation250 #America #NIGHTLIGHT “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh.”— Acts 2:17THE STORYBefore there was a revolution, there was a revival.Between 1730 and 1745, a wave of spiritual awakening swept through the American colonies with a force that no one had anticipated and no human organization had arranged. Historians call it the Great Awakening. Those who lived through it simply called it the work of God.Jonathan Edwards watched it begin in his own congregation in 1734. Without any special promotion or effort, people began to be gripped by an awareness of their sin and their need for Christ. Edwards reported that the town seemed to be full of the presence of God. Hard men were brought to their knees. Families were reconciled. The taverns grew quiet while the meetinghouses overflowed. Then George Whitefield arrived from England, and the fire spread to every colony. He preached in fields and town squares to crowds that sometimes numbered thirty thousand. In a nation of three million people, it is estimated that eighty percent heard Whitefield preach in person at least once. The colonies had never had anything in common before. The Great Awakening gave them a shared experience, and a shared God.THE REFLECTIONJohn Adams said later that the Revolution was complete in the minds and hearts of the people before a single shot was fired. He was right, but he was describing something that had a spiritual root. The Great Awakening did something no political movement could have done: it gave thirteen fractious, independent colonies a common identity. They were not merely British subjects with grievances. They were a people who had encountered God together. And a people who have knelt before the same Lord have something worth standing up for together. This is why the separation of revival and reformation is always a mistake. When God moves in human hearts, human society eventually changes. The Great Awakening did not just save souls. It prepared the ground for a nation. We have been praying for revival in America for a generation. Perhaps we should remember that the last time God sent one, it changed the world. Let us not be so heavenly minded that we miss what He intends to do with an awakened people on this earth.

Today on the show, I have the privilege of sharing my interview with Joshua Enck, the President and Chief Story Officer of Sight and Sound Ministries, as well as the director of their brand-new film, *A Great Awakening*! In our conversation, we explore the dedication to true integrity in filmmaking and emphasize why prioritizing quality over quantity is essential when aiming for an eternal impact. Joshua shares valuable lessons learned from his first film, *I Heard the Bells*, and explains how patience, prayer, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit shaped their latest masterpiece, *A Great Awakening*. This film tells the story of George Whitefield, Benjamin Franklin, and the founding of America’s liberty, serving as a clarion call for the spiritual rebirth of our nation. Prepare to be challenged: When flawed individuals like Whitefield and Franklin are used by a flawless God, it reminds us that our brokenness is not a barrier; rather, it can be an entry point for divine purpose. This episode is a must-listen for anyone who believes that film can serve as a sacred tool, for those yearning for genuine revival, or for creators inspired to express God's truths through art.

America keeps trying to solve spiritual problems with political answers, but Al, Zach, John Luke, and Christian look back at the Great Awakening to show how true liberty began with repentance and surrender to God. Zach connects Jonathan Edwards, George Whitefield, and the rise of personal responsibility in faith to the eventual deconsolidation of political power in colonial America. The guys compare revival movements then and now, wrestling with emotionalism, denominational unity, and why freedom can't flourish when people forget the God who gave it. Names like Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, and Adams have become synonymous with the founding of America. But one name, often forgotten, holds just as much influence if we only read the pages of history. The name? Whitefield. George Whitefield, credited with unifying the colonies in the first intercolonial event, preaching the idea of a God-ordained destiny for the colonies, and warning of Parliament's encroachments on the colonies' liberties, was instrumental in tilling the soil for the American Revolution. In this episode, Stephen examines the life and legacy of Whitefield in this episode, drawing on themes from his book, "Forgotten Founding Father."Get "Forgotten Founding Father" today: https://www.amazon.com/Forgotten-Founding-Father-Whitefield-Leaders/dp/1581821654/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0Connect with Stephen:Website: https://stephenmansfield.tv/Instagram: https://instagram.com/mansfieldwrites/X: https://twitter.com/MansfieldWrites

After 40 years in print journalism, Vince Vawter didn't quite feel finished with writing. In 2013, he published his debut novel, Paperboy — a story about an 11-year-old boy named Victor Vollmer living in Memphis in 1959 who struggles to talk without stuttering. Blending fiction and memoir, the book draws heavily from Vince's own childhood and the challenges he faced finding his voice.Paperboy earned a prestigious Newberry Honor in 2014 and has now been published in 22 different languages. Years later, Vince began to imagine the story on stage, and at a friend's suggestion, it evolved into a musical. In 2023, the Manhattan School of Music performed it in New York, and later this year it will debut professionally at the Weathervane Theatre in Whitefield, New Hampshire.Following the success of Paperboy, readers wanted more of Victor's story. Vince obliged, and in 2018 he released Copyboy, which follows Victor at 17, and in 2023 he completed the trilogy with Manboy, where Victor is 21 and still navigating life with a stutter as he becomes a young adult in the tumultuous late 1960s in the U.S.I've known Vince for over two decades — his son and my brother my brother were college roommates and close friends. As I began carving out my own path in journalism, I remember early conversations with him, including our shared connection to the Evansville Courier & Press, though I'm not sure if our time there overlapped when I was working there in high school.More recently, we reconnected on Substack and have interacted regularly. Now nearing 80, Vince remains as sharp as ever. In February, he released his latest book, The Stuttering Stoic: How an Ancient Philosophy Helped Me Find My Voice. He joins me on the podcast this week to reflect on his long, accomplished journalism career and what he now calls his “second career” as an author. He also shares about living with a stutter and how writing — along with his study of Stoicism — has helped him find his voice.Paperboy was originally published by Penguin Random House, one of the industry's “Big Five” publishers. But along the way, Vince faced pressure to change elements of his story. Wanting to remain true to his voice and experience, he ultimately chose to self-publish rather than compromise, and in this conversation he talks about how he ultimately settled on that decision. You can learn more about Vince and buy his books at vincevawter.com.I'd also love to connect with you on Substack, where I write essays and share updates about future episodes. There are moments in history when everything seems to be falling apart, and yet at the very same time, God is quietly at work doing something that changes everything. You can see it in different places and different times. In the 1700s, both Britain and America were facing deep social and moral decline. Tensions were rising, and in France those tensions eventually erupted into violent revolution. But in Britain and in the American colonies, something very different happened. Instead of a political uprising, there was a spiritual awakening. A series of Christian revivals swept through the churches and permanently affected Christianity in the Protestant denominations primarily. Evangelicalism became a movement in many denominations and ordinary people began turning to Christ in massive numbers. Lives were changed. Families were restored. Society itself began to shift—not from the top down, but from the inside out. It became known as the Great Awakening. There's a movie out right now in theaters that highlights the relationship between one of the major leaders of the revival - a man named George Whitefield and Benjamin Franklin. Revival leaders like Whitefield and John Wesley and Jonathan Edwards presented a theology that changed people's hearts as they relied on the power of the Holy Spirit - which brought about a deep personal conviction of the need for salvation through Jesus, and a new standard, then, of personal morality. It was an incredible movement - but it wasn't the first time something like that had happened. The very first "great awakening" actually took place in the Roman Empire, in a small and seemingly insignificant corner of the world, in the city of Jerusalem. There was no political power, no cultural influence, no economic strength — it was just a small group of about 120 people gathering together in prayer. And yet within a couple of centuries, the message that began with that small group had spread throughout the entire empire. That's the story that the New Testament Book of Acts tells. It is the story of how God takes a small group of ordinary, often broken people, draws them into connection with Himself, fills them with His presence and His power, and then works through them to change the world.

It's Thursday, April 16th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus 1 million Lebanese displaced by Middle East conflict The recent war in the Middle East between the U.S., Israel, and Iran has displaced over one million people in Lebanon.  Israel has bombed targets in Lebanon associated with Hezbollah, a Muslim militant group backed by Iran.  Christians make up a third of Lebanon's population. Sadly, Israel's bombardments there have lead to the deaths of over 2,000 people, including Christians.  Michel Constantin with the Catholic Near East Welfare Agency said, “Towns and villages in which Christians live in south Lebanon have also been violently attacked without any warning. Israel has bombed areas that have nothing to do with Hezbollah.” United States brokers peace deal between Lebanon and Israel The United States brokered peace talks between Lebanon and Israel in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday. It's the first time the two countries have held diplomatic talks in decades.  Lebanon and Israel agreed to work towards ending the influence of Hezbollah, the terrorist group. Listen to comments from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. RUBIO: “This is a historic opportunity. We understand we're working against decades of history and complexities that have led us to this unique moment. “Some of you are shouting questions about ceasefire. This is a lot more than just about that. This is about bringing a permanent end to 20 or 30 years of Hezbollah's influence in this part of the world.” Slow economic growth this year because of Middle East war The International Monetary Fund expects global economic growth to slow this year due to the war in the Middle East.  The conflict is driving up energy prices and disrupting shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.  The International Monetary Fund projects global growth to slow to 3.1 percent this year. That's down from its original forecast of 3.3 percent.   70% of Americans think taxes too high Yesterday was tax day in the United States. A new Fox News Poll found a record 70 percent of voters think their taxes are too high. That's up from 60 percent in 2025. Also, 75 percent of people see government spending as wasteful. That's up nearly 20 percentage points since 2025. The average single worker in the U.S. sends just under a third of their income to the government. That's according to a report by the Cato Institute.  U.S. fertility rate down The U.S. fertility rate fell to a new low last year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  The general fertility rate in 2025 was 53.1 births per 1,000 females aged 15 to 44. That's down one percent from the rate in 2024 and down 23 percent from 2007. The fertility rate for women in their 20s has dropped significantly. Meanwhile, the rates for women in their 30s and early 40s is growing.   Hegseth and Rubio will read the Bible aloud Nearly 500 leaders from all spheres of influence are about to gather in Washington, D.C. to read the entire Bible aloud. The Museum of the Bible is hosting its “America Reads the Bible” event from April 19 to 25. Participants will read Scripture for 12 hours each day. Readers include Rev. Franklin Graham, Dr. Ben Carson, War Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Six governors and 20 members of Congress will also be reading the Bible aloud.  The event's website says, “In honor of the 250th birthday of the United States, America Reads the Bible serves as a spiritual celebration of our nation's founding ideals and a call to rediscover the truth that still anchors us today.” Nehemiah 9:3 says, “And they stood up in their place and read from the Book of the Law of the LORD their God for one-fourth of the day; and, for another fourth, they confessed and worshiped the LORD their God.” Oklahoma principal risked life to stop school shooter An Oklahoma high school principal risked his life to stop a school shooter last week. The 20-year-old shooter opened fire inside the lobby of Pauls Valley High School last Tuesday afternoon. The principal, 60-year-old Kirk Moore, charged the shooter, tackling him to the ground. Another staff member helped disarm the gunman.  Moore was the only person injured in the incident, suffering a shot to his leg. However, he is healthy and recovering after being hospitalized. He wrote in a statement last Friday, “I am grateful that my instincts and training, as well as God's hand, were available to me on Tuesday.” John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.” Today is the FINAL day to see “A Great Awakening” Christian film And finally, as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, the word “liberty” is resurfacing in cultural debates, but for Sight & Sound President Joshua Enck, it carries a deeper meaning, inspiring the ministry's new film, “A Great Awakening,” reports The Christian Post. “On the Liberty Bell, it quotes Leviticus 25:10 which says, ‘Proclaim liberty throughout all the land and to all the inhabitants thereof.' Wnck, who also directed this film, said, “I want that liberty to ring out over this nation once again in the hearts of men and women.” The film centers on the unlikely friendship between 18th-century evangelist George Whitefield and Founding Father Benjamin Franklin, a deist.  Whitefield, widely regarded as one of the most influential preachers of the Great Awakening, traveled thousands of miles on horseback throughout the American colonies.   Enck said, “It was the first shared experience across the colonies. Eighty percent of colonists didn't just hear about Whitefield; they heard him preach. They were unified by something they could all believe in.” Remarkably, he spoke 18,000 times to 10 million people in person. One scene depicted in the film shows Whitefield preaching in a coal field in Bristol, England, drawing miners from underground. He wrote in his diary that he saw white streaks down their blackened cheeks from tears. The director explained, “They were a team. Franklin was the greatest promoter of the greatest event in American history. There were many preachers leading up to 1776, but there were none like Whitefield, and when you combined the power of his voice with Franklin's ability to get the word out, it unified the colonies.” According to Enck, before the political revolution came spiritual awakening. He noted, “Our tagline says it all: ‘Before the revolution, there was a revelation.'”  In the film, Whitefield delivers a line that encapsulates Enck's understanding of biblical liberty: “Blood will be shed for the liberty you're talking about, but blood was already shed [by Jesus Christ] for the liberty.” He added, “This film doesn't shy away from the Gospel. We don't soft-shoe anything.” Rather than portraying historical figures as flawless icons, the film highlights their humanity and need for a Savior. Today is the final day that A Great Awakening is in the theaters.  Make it a priority for your family to see it. Bring some friends. It's Tuesday, April 14th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson and Timothy Reed Actor John Cleese speaks up against Nigerian Christian genocide TruthNigeria's verified civilian deaths for Easter weekend stands at 55 people — a terrible tragedy for the nation. Nigeria remains, by far, the most deadly nation in the world for those who have received the Christian faith. John Cleese, the well-known “Monty Python" comic actor, expressed concern about the massacres of Christians in Nigeria.  On the X platform, he wrote, “It looks rather as though Black Lives Don't Matter.” Writing about [the Nigerian massacres], he said, “Could damage the image of the murderers who killed these poor people.” Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán defeated Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán suffered a massive defeat in the elections on Sunday night. Orbán lost to opposition candidate Péter Magyar by a vote of 53% to 39%. Magyar's party, the Respect and Freedom Party, is also on track to gain a supermajority in the Hungarian Parliament.  Magyar broke from Orban's party after multiple scandals surfaced, one of which involved a coverup for a pedophile. Daniel 2:21 speaks of the sovereignty of God over the nations. It says, “And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.” Earlier this year, Hungarian prosecutors indicted the mayor of Budapest for organizing a homosexual pride event last June, attended by over 100,000 people. Gergely Karácsony defied a ban imposed by Viktor Orban's government. United State to block Strait of Hormuz The United States is set to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, reports NBC News. This comes as an unsteady ceasefire has settled over the region and oil prices continue to rise.  President Donald Trump told Fox News that the blockade would not affect talks with Iran. TRUMP: “They haven't left the bargaining table. I predict they come back and they give us everything we want. And I told my people, ‘I want everything. I don't want 90% I don't want 95%.' I told them, ‘I want everything.'” Vice President Vance: Iran better not build a nuclear weapon Vice President J.D. Vance, who recently returned from peace talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, reaffirmed the United States' commitment to making sure Iran does not acquire a nuclear weapon. VANCE: “The simple fact is that we need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon, and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon.” 60% of Americans view Israel unfavorably now American's attitude towards the nation of Israel  is shifting.   A recent Pew Research survey found that the percentage of Americans viewing Israel unfavorably has increased from 42% in 2022 to 60% most recently.  And that represents a 6% uptick from last year's survey. Now, 41% of Republicans and 80% of Democrats view Israel unfavorably. And 70% of U.S. adults under age 50 have an unfavorable view of Israel as well, according to the survey. This may be due in part to the shrinkage of the white Evangelical base in America — dropping off from 23% to roughly 14% of the population since the year 2000.  California gubernatorial candidate ends campaign over sexual misconduct California gubernatorial candidate Eric Swalwell terminated his campaign after being accused of sexual misconduct by several women, reports The Western Journal. Swalwell, who currently serves in the US House of Representatives, was pressured by fellow Democrats to leave the race, and also saw his own staffers quit.  On X, Swalwell posted, “To my family, staff, friends, and supporters, I am deeply sorry for mistakes in judgment I've made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made — but that's my fight, not a campaign's.”  He also said this in a video. Listen. SWALWELL: “I do not suggest to you in any way that I'm perfect or that I'm a saint. I have certainly made mistakes in judgment in my past, but those mistakes are between me and my wife. And to her, I apologize deeply for putting her in this position. I also apologize to you if in any way you have doubted your support for me, but I think you know who I am.” However, last night, the alleged reprobate announced plans to resign from Congress altogether.  In related news, liberal Republican Congressman Tony Gonzales of Texas, who sexually harassed at least two of his staffers, also announced he will resign, reports the San Antonio Express-News. America's housing market in trouble The U.S. housing market suffered a bad month-on-month drop in sales of existing homes in March.   This marks the longest bad run on housing sales in at least 25 years, going on four years now. Americans spend 50% more time on phones today than 2022 Consumer Affairs reports that the average American checks their phones 205 times a day. They are on their phones for four hours and 30 minutes a day, up 50% since 2022. And this is new. Consumers are now using the Pet Phone to stay in touch with their pets, mind you, throughout the day, complete with two-way video calling and an Artificial Intelligence motion detector that gets the pet in touch with his owner. “A Great Awakening” Christian film already seen by 500,000 Americans And finally, George Whitefield set America aflame with righteousness in the 1740s. Charles Spurgeon wrote that “Whitefield stands unrivalled among preachers of the Gospel.  … No other man seems to have wielded such a mighty influence over so many hearts.” Dr. Martin Lloyd Jones called him “the greatest English preacher of all time.” These were days of Acts 4:31: “And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.” And now, Sight and Sound films production, A Great Awakening, has taken in $4.9 million at the U.S. box office.  The story of the great evangelist, George Whitefield, and his outreach to Benjamin Franklin, has now been seen by about 500,000 Americans. Impressively, it has a 97% audience approval rating and a 69% approval rating from the Rotten Tomatoes Tomato-meter.   The film is still showing in about 1,000 theaters across America this week.   Host: Dan Panetti Tricia and I went and saw the movie A Great Awakening - and it was incredible. The movie highlighted the fascinating friendship of George Whitefield and Benjamin Franklin and there were many outstanding history and life lessons. One of the things that the movie examined was the powerful and important letter/speech that Ben Franklin gave at the Constitutional Convention in 1787 about how “God governs in the affairs of men.”   I hope that you'll not only see the movie, but also pause to reflect on the lessons presented - especially the idea that God governs in the affairs of men - that God is Providential. My daughter is actually reading a truly wonderful book titled Providence written by John Piper - highly recommend you get a copy for yourself and read it!   Finally, let's take the passion of George Whitefield to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with any and everybody as a reminder to do so in our lives as well!   T4M guys - just a reminder that Training4Manhood is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) ministry and you can make donations either via Zelle (info@training4manhood.com) or by visiting the Training4Manhood website.

It's Thursday, April 9th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Nicaragua officials violated religious freedom 309 times in 2025 Last year, the government of Nicaragua imposed increasing restrictions on religious leaders. This is according to a new report from Christian Solidarity Worldwide.  The report documented 309 violations of freedom of religion or belief in 2025. That's up from 222 cases in 2024. Over 100 of the cases last year involved Protestant Christians.  Anna Lee Stangl with Christian Solidarity Worldwide said, “While in some ways the regime has changed its strategies – releasing political prisoners into house arrest as opposed to forcing them into exile, for example – its primary goal remains the same: to control, co-opt or eliminate anyone it deems a threat to its authority and survival.” But, in Matthew 16:18, Jesus said, “On this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.” Cuba pardoned 2,000 prisoners before Easter The government of Cuba announced pardons for over 2,000 prisoners last week ahead of Resurrection Sunday.  Those released included young people, women, and people over the age of 60. The pardons follow significant pressure from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. This marks the fifth prisoner release by Cuba's communist regime since 2011. The pardons have benefited over 10,000 people, including political prisoners and pastors.  Mexico's “Day of the Unborn Girl and Boy” The Mexican state of Aguascalientes  designated March 25 as the “Day of the Unborn Girl and Boy.” The central state is the first state in the country to establish such a day for promoting pro-family policies.  At the federal level, Mexico has decriminalized the killing of unborn babies.  Some states have moved to protect babies while others support abortion.  Texas court greenlights Christian evangelism near mosque In the United States, a Texas court recently allowed Christians to continue evangelizing near a mosque. The East Plano Islamic Center filed a lawsuit last October to silence Christians who were sharing their faith on public property nearby. However, the state court dismissed the lawsuit last month. The law firm representing the Christians stated, “This lawsuit was an extraordinary demand … to ban missionaries from peacefully … preaching the Gospel. We are grateful that the Court recognized that such demands are a serious challenge to our country's core values of free speech and freedom of religion.” Regular church attenders most likely to be generous Charitable giving among evangelical Protestants is stabilizing according to a new report from Infinity Concepts. The report found 62 percent of Evangelicals gave to church last year. That's down from 74 percent in 2020 but slightly up from 61 percent in 2024. In terms of church attendance, those who attend weekly were the most likely to give to church. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says, “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.” Stock market up and oil prices down The U.S. stock market surged and oil prices fell yesterday. This came after President Trump announced a ceasefire with Iran on Tuesday.  The S&P 500 and Nasdaq stock market indexes were up by over two percent. And the price of U.S. crude oil dropped by over 15% to about $95 per barrel. That's down from $117 on Tuesday. Still, oil prices are up 65 percent compared to the start of the year.  “A Great Awakening” Christian film in theaters thru April 16 And finally, the movie “A Great Awakening” opened in theaters on Good Friday. The historical Christian film hit number six at the box office. Sight & Sound Films released the movie in honor of America's 250th anniversary. The movie is based on the true story of the unlikely friendship between Reverend George Whitefield and founding father Benjamin Franklin. Whitefield's voice was so clear and robust that he was able to speak to thousands without amplification.  Franklin was a doubter. FRANKLIN: “I am doubting Whitefield's claim that he can be heard and understood by so many. Without evidence, I won't believe it.” WHITEFIELD: “Let us proclaim freedom to the captives. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.” WITNESS 1: “Have you ever heard a voice like that?” WITNESS 2:  “A blast from Heaven.” WHITEFIELD: “Benjamin Franklin.” FRANKLIN:  “Reverend Whitefield. Partnering with me would guarantee the maximum benefit to your cause.” WHITEFIELD: “A match made in Heaven.” FRANKLIN: “Or just a deal made in a print shop.” WHITEFIELD:  “You have promoted the greatest awakening these colonies have ever seen.” Joshua Enck with Sight & Sound Ministries said, “As we approach America's 250th anniversary, we're honored to share this inspiring story of friendship, faith, and courage. It's a timely reminder that the soul of a nation is shaped not just by laws, but by the convictions of its people.” Watch the trailer at the website www.AGreatAwakening.com. As promised, this week on BEHIND THE LENS we're talking about the religious-themed, historical drama A GREAT AWAKENING. Brought to us by director/co-writer Joshua Enck and those terrific folks at Sight & Sound, A GREAT AWAKENING tells the true story of an unlikely friendship between Reverend George Whitefield and Benjamin Franklin that resulted in one of the most defining moments in American history – the American Revolution. The film is enlightening, eye-opening, engrossing, and entertaining. It is visually and emotionally immersive. With the colonies on the brink of collapse in 1739, the Reverend George Whitefield sparked the first Great Awakening, uniting an entire generation with his thundering proclamation of liberty in Christ. In a miraculous turn of events, one of Whitefield's closest friends and greatest promoters becomes none other than Benjamin Franklin. With the nation's freedom hanging in the balance, Franklin discovers true liberty cannot only be written into law – it must be awakened in the hearts of the people. Directed by Joshua Enck and co-written by Enck, Jeff Bender, and Jonathan Blair, A GREAT AWAKENING stars Jonathan Blair as George Whitefield and John Paul Sneed as Benjamin Franklin. http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com

In 2023, the animated comedy "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" took in over a billion dollars at the box office and became the biggest video game adaptation ever. Naturally, a sequel has arrived. "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" offers more of the same. Same players, same game inspired goofiness and the same strengths and weaknesses. Once again, the intrepid Italian plumbers are called upon to save Princess Peach from Bowser and his son Bowser, Jr. The visuals are duly impressive, but the plot of “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” may evaporate from your memory faster than a Mario power-up. The scenario of "The Drama" is designed to make you squirm. On that count, it's very successful. Zendaya and Robert Pattinson play a couple who learn very uncomfortable truths about each other on the cusp of their wedding. Writer/director Kristoffer Borgli examines some very intriguing themes and the players are fine, including Alana Haim in a pivotal supporting role. But there may be moments while watching the excruciating movie “The Drama” that you'll want to scream, "Hey, people, get some counseling!" The well produced faith-based historical drama "A Great Awakening" tells the story of the Calvinist preacher George Whitefield, his friendship with Benjamin Franklin and his effect on the American Revolution that occurred in tandem with an evangelical revival. Jonathan Blair as Whitefield and John Paul Sneed as Franklin give earnest performances in this impassioned biopic. While it glosses over some of controversial aspects of Whitefield's life and his debatable positions, it's a thoughtful, well-acted and sometimes moving account aimed at a receptive Christian audience.

Sight & Sound Theatres | Bible Stories Live on Stagehttps://www.sight-sound.com/ As our nation gears up to celebrate her 250th Anniversary later this summer, one can't help but feel patriotic about a remarkable journey that began in 1776. It is an opportunity to honor the ideals of freedom, democracy, and resilience that have shaped our country's history. It is a time to celebrate the diversity, innovation, and enduring spirit of the American people, while also acknowledging the challenges and complexities of the past. Our founding fathers would be humbled by the renewed commitment to the values that they established, foundational truths that will guide our nation into its next chapter.Through the years, so much has been said about George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin, about their contributions to charting the course of our history, but there are so many other heroes from that era that we know little about. Take Rev. George Whitefield for example. A close friend of Franklin, Whitefield is best known for sparking the first Great Awakening, a movement that united an entire nation with his proclamation of liberty in Christ. To honor Whitefield's contribution to the foundational bedrock of faith in our nation, Sight & Sound Theaters, best known for their spectacular theatrical presentations of the Bible, is releasing a new full length feature film called “A Great Awakening”. With the nation's freedom hanging in the balance, “A Great Awakening” explores how an unlikely friendship resulted in one of the most defining moments in American history.Joshua Enck not only wrote and directed “A Great Awakening”, but he also serves as Chief Story Officer for Sight & Sound, a ministry he has served since he began there in 1995 as a stage hand.Enck, who has previously directed six Sight & Sound theatrical productions, joins us to chat about how the role of faith inspired unity during a very divided time in our nation's history. Listen as he shares how the relationship between Whitefield and Franklin shaped the early foundations of America.

They sat on seemingly opposite ends of the spiritual spectrum: Benjamin Franklin, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, a man of science and reason, and George Whitefield, a man of God who ignited a religious revival in the 1700's called "The Great Awakening." Yet Divine Providence brought them together to form an unlikely friendship and partnership. Franklin printed Whitefield's sermons and writings, while Whitefield preached to thousands in the open air of the relationship they are called to have with Jesus Christ. Their union launched an awakening that Director Joshua Enck says helped to strengthen the faith foundation of America, and the belief that liberty is not granted by an earthly king but by God Almighty.   On this episode of Lighthouse Faith podcast, Enck talks about the Sight & Sound film, "A Great Awakening" opening in theaters on Good Friday, and shares what spurred him to take on the project to coincide with the 250th Anniversary of America's founding, as well as the awakening that is needed today. The central message of the sermon is that true wisdom, as defined by Proverbs 11:30, is demonstrated not merely in personal righteousness but in the diligent effort to win souls for Christ, making the righteous a 'tree of life' whose fruit—gospel testimony and transformed lives—leads others to salvation. Drawing from historical figures like Paul, Luther, Whitefield, Edwards, and Spurgeon, the preacher emphasizes that wisdom and soul-winning are inseparable, not because of intellectual brilliance or eloquence, but because a life focused on eternal matters reflects God's priorities. The sermon outlines seven practical, biblically grounded principles for soul-winning: living a gospel-transformed life, believing in the power of the gospel, preaching the clear message of salvation through Christ alone, praying earnestly, inviting others to church, sharing personal testimonies, and investing time, talents, and treasures in evangelism. Ultimately, the call is for every believer to embrace evangelism as a non-negotiable duty, not a gift reserved for the few, but a calling rooted in love for others and the eternal destiny of their souls, with the assurance that such work is the most meaningful task possible in this life.

Dave joins The Safety Guru to discuss the challenges facing the safety industry and why meaningful safety improvement depends less on metrics and more on people and culture. In this episode, Dave explains why embracing risk, rather than trying to eliminate it, is important and how empowering workers to actively manage risk leads to better outcomes than simply enforcing rules. He also shares the role of trust and communication, and how the language we use shapes culture, influences behavior, and impacts how risk is understood and managed. The conversation highlights the vital role of leadership in shifting from correction to learning, and in creating environments where people feel supported to speak up, take ownership, and grow. This episode offers a thoughtful perspective on redefining safety through connection, effective risk management, and meaningful change. Listen now! About the Guest: Dave Whitefield helps organizations tackle safety without doing more safety. He does this through a specific focus on improving safety and risk culture maturity, built on an organization's existing foundation of hazard management and formal safety systems. The framework for this approach has been developed primarily from a social psychological paradigm, and is based on over 30 years of experience across a wide variety of roles and industries, as well as tertiary qualifications in behavioral science, occupational health and safety, and social psychology of risk. I Started Loving Myself More After Joining Swami's HospitalOn August 15, 1973, a young MBBS graduate from Kasturba Medical College, Bengaluru, began a humble Sunday clinic in the village of Begur. With nothing more than his medical degree, the help of a compounder, and an unshakable determination to serve, he quietly tended to villagers in a corner 33 kilometres from Bengaluru. What started as a small act of service has today blossomed into a movement that provides free healthcare to more than 1,000 patients every week. For over five decades, this dedicated doctor has never missed a single Sunday at his clinic in Begur. In recognition of his lifelong commitment, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2010.Ask him what fuels this unwavering resolve, and he humbly replies:“Baba's message, ‘Hands that serve are holier than lips that pray,' has touched me deeply and given me the strength to carry on and do even more. These hands are not my hands, they are His hands.”Echoing a similar spirit of surrender, Dr Geetanjali Tulapurkar, Head of the Department of Anaesthesia at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Whitefield, shares: “It is not me doing anything for the patients. Every patient who comes to Baba's hospital actually heals me. Day by day, I am realising that I am not the doer, and this fills me with a great sense of peace and joy."Both of these eminent physicians were among the inspiring speakers at the Global Medical Conference held in Prasanthi Nilayam in June 2025.

Send us a textJustification by faith alone—this cornerstone of Christian belief takes center stage as believers wrestle with the age-old tension between grace and law. When does personal conviction become legalism? At what point does adherence to Old Testament practices undermine the sufficiency of Christ's work? The conversation begins by identifying the enemy's unchanged tactics throughout history—always attacking the gospel that saves and the deity of Christ that makes salvation possible. Like trees requiring time to bear fruit, Christian growth demands patience and nurturing rather than harsh judgment of others' spiritual development. God consistently moves believers forward in sanctification, never backward to former religious practices. What makes this discussion powerful is the lived experience of standing firm while disagreeing respectfully. When confronted about potential legalism regarding Sabbath observance, one believer demonstrates remarkable humility, refusing to flee difficult conversations or abandon fellowship over theological differences. This exemplifies mature Christianity—standing firm on essential doctrines while maintaining unity on secondary matters. The heart of Protestant faith beats strongest when we grasp that justification isn't merely forgiveness but complete union with Christ. This relationship creates an unbreakable bond where believers become "more than conquerors" through Christ. Nothing can separate us from God's love—not our weaknesses, not our failures, not even our misunderstandings about doctrine.Church history provides us with models like Wesley and Whitefield who maintained deep respect despite theological differences. Their example reminds us that mature faith values both truth and unity—a crucial balance as cultural darkness increases around us.Have you experienced the freedom of justification by faith alone? Join the conversation and discover why adding anything to Christ's finished work undermines the very gospel that saves.Support the show

The Methodist Church has split and one side is growing fast. In this episode, Pastor Jeff and Tiffany Cocker unpack the theological roots of Methodism, why nearly 5,000 churches have joined the Global Methodist movement (a fairly new denomination), and what makes this tradition so distinct in today's world. They explore the historical foundations of Methodism, the influence of John and Charles Wesley and George Whitefield, and how the movement developed across England and the American colonies. Here's What We Discussed:00:33 – The Roots of MethodismHow the term “Methodist” began as a slur, and how the Wesley brothers and George Whitefield formed a movement focused on prayer, discipline, and Scriptural devotion.03:04 – John Wesley in AmericaJohn Wesley's short-lived ministry in colonial Georgia and how his personal struggles helped shape the future of Methodism.05:58 – Charles Wesley's HymnsCharles Wesley's theological influence through music, and why his hymns remain central to Methodist worship today.10:06 – George Whitefield's Evangelistic ReachA look at Whitefield's powerful preaching ministry, which reached an estimated 80% of colonial America, and his foundational role in the Methodist revival.13:05 – United vs. Global Methodist: The Modern SplitKey reasons behind the recent division, including differing views on biblical authority and Scriptural application.17:11 – A Typical Methodist Worship ServiceWhat to expect on a Sunday in a Methodist church: a blend of liturgy, creeds, music (both hymns and contemporary), and Scripture-based preaching.20:10 – Church Leadership & Governance An overview of the Methodist church's conference-based structure, role of bishops, and lay participation in decision-making.22:05 – Wesleyan Theology & Sanctification What “Christian perfection” really means in Methodist theology, and why the emphasis on sanctification and personal salvation sets this tradition apart.Key Quote:“One of the things that sets Wesleyan theology apart is John Wesley's view on what came to be known as Christian perfection, or entire sanctification. Wesley didn't teach that Christians become sinless in this life, but that we can, through God's grace, grow into full maturity in Christ. That means being wholly devoted to God and to loving others. The deeper you go into the sanctification process, the less you're going to sin.” – Pastor Jeff CranstonWe love your feedback! If you enjoyed this episode, leave us a review. Pastor Mike Abendroth dives into the often-overlooked art of listening to a sermon, using insights from the great 18th-century preacher George Whitefield. Drawing from Whitefield’s six key principles, Mike discusses how believers should approach sermons—not merely as passive listeners, but as active worshipers seeking transformation. He emphasizes the importance of coming with a teachable heart, diligently paying attention, avoiding undue criticism of the preacher, and making personal applications of the message. Mike also unpacks the need for prayer before, during, and after a sermon, recognizing that true spiritual change depends on God’s power. Filled with humor, historical anecdotes, and biblical wisdom, this episode is a practical guide for those who want to maximize their engagement with God’s Word every Sunday.   Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/P6zhFN2Dvqs Produced/Edited By: Marrio Escobar (Owner of D2L Productions)

Many years ago, a wise principal once told me that good instruction is the best classroom management tool teachers have at their disposal. In Session 293, Dr. Todd Haydon joins me to discuss the practice of increasing the rate of students' opportunities to respond (OTR), which is an instructional practice that has been shown to improve classroom behavior. In doing so, Todd and I did a deep dive on his dissertation work, which culminated in the study, Haydon, Mancil, and Van Loan (2009). This study began with a referral to help students who engaged in disruptive and off-task behaviors. Rather than conduct several individual FBAs, Todd and his colleagues coached the teacher to increase the rate of posing academic questions to the class. The results spoke for themselves, and the rest is history. So tune in to learn how this practice works, and maybe it can be something that will help you in your practice!
