We're hoping Yuletide yourselves over to 2025 with this extra-special Christmas episode! Frank and Joanne get an unexpected present and a night off as they showcase a hilarious holiday audio series from comedian Ella Gale. Stay tuned for more in the new year, cuties! xo F&J MORE ABOUT CANDY CLAUS: *** Santa's bastard daughter solves hardboiled Christmas crimes on the North Pole in this half-hour audio comedy. Candy is a death-metal-loving, peppermint-schnapps-swilling PI trying to solve the North Pole's first murder in 500 years without learning the true meaning of Christmas. A sendup of toxic positivity and prodigal homecomings, the show introduces characters like SANTA BLOB (a deformed snowman built as a surrogate Santa Claus), MOPPET (a gingerbread man baker conscripted as a pathologist) and GUMDROP THE WINTER SQUID (a Krampus-esque calamari committing unspeakable acts on the seafloor). *** Josie's Lonely Hearts Club is brought to you by the Good Story Guild. Marv chats with Ella Gale, the creator and director of the audio drama Candy Claus Private Eye. Candy is the illegitimate daughter of Santa Claus, who is a private eye. While being a private eye in the big world, she is approached by the elf Minty, about the potential murder of an elf, which forces her to return to the North Pole, in order to solve the crime. In the process of this she comes across characters such as Dr Claus (otherwise known as Mrs Claus), the Sugar Plum Fairy, Tinfoil, Santa Blob, and many more characters. This is the final official episode of season eight. There will be special episodes between now and season nine, which will be coming in February on 2025. I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season. Take care.

Quite possibly the perfect movie. A rare comedy winner starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine, this screwball-ish comedy with a dramatic heart explores the absurd distance between loneliness and privacy in a world that still maintains a paper-thin Victorian morality atop a fully horny modern reality. The acting is superb, but this is a writer's movie first and foremost, stuffed with tense scenes, perfectly witty lines, dense layering, and huge laughs. The only reason the entire movie isn't played in the middle of the episode is that Ella and I spent long stretches silent and transfixed by what was happening. If you haven't seen it, do. I promise it will be one of your new favorites. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
