    Ivy Insights

The To Read List Podcast is an absolute gem of a podcast that I stumbled upon while searching for bookish podcasts. From the moment I started listening, I was hooked. The hosts, Bailey, Andrew, and Toby, are all incredibly witty, charming, kind, and down to earth. They have a great rapport with each other and it feels like you're sitting in on a cozy chat with friends discussing books. This podcast has become my go-to listen every night to calm my anxiety and help me relax. It has expanded my reading horizons and provided me with so much joy.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is the unique premise of working through a TBR list while still acquiring new books. It's relatable for any book lover who constantly finds their list piling up. The cast's banter is entertaining and they have a teasing atmosphere that comes from being close family members and friends. The games and minisodes are also huge bonuses that add even more fun to each episode. Overall, this podcast is always entertaining, never overwhelms with new releases, and fully embraces the love of books.

While there may not be many negatives about this podcast, one potential downside is that episodes are released every other week. For avid listeners like myself who have binged through the backlog, it can be disappointing to have to wait for new episodes like everyone else. However, the quality of each episode makes up for the longer wait time.

In conclusion, The To Read List Podcast is my absolute favorite podcast. Bailey, Andrew, and Toby are fantastic hosts who make you feel as though you're part of their bookish conversations. Whether you've read the book they're discussing or not, their reviews are always engaging and often leave me with new book recommendations or deeper insights into books I've already read. This podcast is a must-listen for any book lover looking for a fun and entertaining discussion about books they've always meant to read.

INFINITE JEST by David Foster Wallace /  THE ONLY GOOD INDIANS by Stephen Graham Jones   If you've ever doubted that Toby is an intellectual, doubt no more -- he's read INFINITE JEST! The book is footnotes and absurdity all the way down, and luckily Toby's here to explain it all to us. After a raucous discussion of the tome and its problematic author, Bailey dives into horror novel THE ONLY GOOD INDIANS. Will the basketball subplot ruin the book's elk-based scares? Finally, Dillon leads us on the weirdest game yet!

HERE IS NEW YORK by E.B. White / QUEEN BEES & WANNABES by Rosalind Wiseman This takes the cake for oddest book pairing ever on our show! First, Toby reviews 1948 travelogue HERE IS NEW YORK and finds similarities between author E.B. White and Grampa Simpson. Then, Bailey offers far too many quotes from MEAN GIRLS as she covers the movie's source material, 2002 parenting manual QUEEN BEES & WANNABES: HELPING YOUR DAUGHTER SURVIVE CLIQUES, GOSSIP, BOYFRIENDS, AND OTHER REALITIES OF ADOLESCENCE by educator Rosalind Wiseman. Will they make "fetch" happen and find common ground between the two books?! Plus, the hosts share their latest bookworm problems, practice their spelling, and question Dillon's role on the podcast.

THE AMULET OF SAMARKAND by Jonathan Stroud / THE KITE RUNNER BY KHALED HOSSEINI. On this week's episode, we pull two books our hosts missed from 2003 in Jonathan Stroud's middle grade fantasy, THE AMULET OF SAMARKAND, and Khaled Hosseini's bestseller, THE KITE RUNNER. Will these prove to be blasts from the past? Also we dig deep on how to get un-scared after reading a spooky book, think about what famous literary characters would wish for, and prove once and for all that Bailey is the best at getting through TSA!
