In this episode we have for the first time, not 1 but 2 guests, in a discussion split into 3 parts. This is the final part of the series, in which we discuss Physics education. In the first, we discussed interdisciplinary approaches to science, and in the second, environmental physics. Below is some information on each of the guests. Helen Rogers: Helen is an atmospheric scientist with twenty years of experience in teaching, research and programme coordination. She has worked on developing atmospheric/climate models at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, was Programme Manager for the NERC Upper Troposphere Lower Stratosphere Ozone Programme and a senior researcher for the European Ozone Research Coordinating Unit. She has particular interest and expertise in determining the environmental impact of the transport sector (primarily aviation and shipping), atmospheric modelling, and computational fluid dynamics. Helen was a contributor to the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution (2002); ‘Climate Change 2001: The scientific basis' – the Third Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC); and the IPCC Special Report on Aviation and the Global Atmosphere (1999). Helen is the chair of the Environmental Physics Group at the Institute of Physics, with a D.Phil. in Atmospheric Physics from the University of Oxford and a degree in Physics from Imperial College, London. Luthais McCash: Luthais is the Chief Scientific Officer at Sigma Solutions and chair of the mathematical and theoretical physics group at The Institute of Physics. Sigma Solutions was built entirely from scratch by Luthais as a business consulting firm that offers distinct ideas in state-of-the-art data analysis to a variety of businesses across multiple industries. The company has a reputation of finding creative approaches to complicated problems and has recently won the accolade of most innovative business 2022, awarded by Corporate Vision magazine. Luthais himself has been recognised as one of the top 20 most dynamic CEOs in the UK of 2022 and he's still only in his twenties. Luthais was initially recognised as a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society in May 2020 for his creative work on advanced modelling and optimisation in the energy industry with a focus on oil and gas. He developed and implemented technology that revolutionised the trading and efficient distribution of liquified natural gas by cutting costs by a factor of 10. He's been re-elected as a fellow of the RSS in June 2021 and he has also been an honorary fellow at the University of Leicester in 2019-2021. On top of his business exploits he is now also in a research position at Durham University. I hope you enjoy the discussion! In this episode I'm Hive Talkin all things flowers with Helen Rogers of Highgate Honey in North London who used her lockdown time to really observe what plants the bees were attracted to at certain times. During the last year of off and on lockdowns, like many of us, Helen and her mother Eva were unable to meet but they'd chat regularly about what plants in Eva's established Oxfordshire garden the bees were attracted to. Over the months Helen kept detailed notes which she has now turned into an easy to use guide book - 80 Flowers For Bees. Perfect for everyone who wants to support our bees and pollinators in their outdoor space but, like me, have no idea where to start. Join us as we chat flowers, planting, bees and as always a little bit of honey! To find out more about Highgate Honey, get hold of a copy of Helens new book or reserve a place at her World Bee Day Honey Tasting online event in May 2021 visit www.highgatehoney.com and follow Helen and her bees on Instagram/Facebook/Twitter @HighgateHoney.

We've all heard eight hours per night is the ideal amount of sleep to strive for -- and while some need less and many need more -- the quality of sleep we are able to get is heavily dependent on the surface on which we sleep. To find out more about spending one-third of our lives in a way that benefits all of our waking hours -- particularly for the new parents that host and listen to the show -- we invited Mary Helen Rogers of the International Sleep Products Association for a chat. Founded in 1915 by mattress manufacturers to combat fraud, ISPA has been protecting consumers and those same manufacturers for over 100 years. Though repulsive, it was not uncommon for people to put a new cover on old mattresses and resell them as brand new to unsuspecting and tired sleepers. Still occasionally a problem today in the used mattress world, the work of the association has largely conquered one of the most disgusting problems vexing the sleeping world. While their membership is comprised of the makers of mattresses and all of their components, they also run the Better Sleep Council which is their consumer-facing arm. Check out this episode with Mary Helen Rogers for a more informed and sounder sleep. HELEN ROGERS: You may not know Helen Rogers by name but you do know her as the lead vocalist on the Jazzmasters albums 1-5 and the group, Direct Drive. Helen's 2nd solo album Let Me Be Your Angel, is a return to her Reggae roots. TIM BOWMAN: It's been four years since smooth jazz guitarist Tim Bowman's last CD, This Is What I Hear was winning rave magazine reviews and garnering ubiquitous smooth jazz radio airplay. Now, Bowman is back on the scene with a new CD that demonstrates that he still has his ear pressed firmly to the radio. The new self-titled project, Bowman's first for Trippin' N Rhythm is full of the cool and funky hooks that have defined his personal jazz style over the last decade and kept him at the top of the charts. When asked what he thought about the new collection, Bowman says, "I feel good about this one. It's the feeling I get every time I know I've had fun making an album".
