On today's Bible Answer Man broadcast (04/15/25), Hank continues to highlight the days of Holy Week. On Holy Tuesday, we commemorate the Parable of the Ten Virgins as found in Matthew chapter 25. In this parable—this extended simile with extraordinarily sharp teeth—the coming of Christ is likened to the coming of the bridegroom to the home of his bride during the sacramental ritual of marriage. In the narrative of the parable, there are ten virgins—five wise and five foolish. The five wise virgins are illustrative of those who practice almsgiving and mercy. The five foolish represent those who selfishly squander God's provisions upon themselves. In the end, the bridegroom arrives, and the five who were prepared went in with him to the eternal wedding banquet. And then, says Jesus, “the door was shut.” To the five foolish virgins who belatedly asked for the door to be opened, the bridegroom replied, “I tell you the truth, I don't know you.”Hank also answers the following questions:My son struggles with knowing that he's saved. He said that he's prayed and prayed, but doesn't feel like he hears from God. What can I say to him? Carol - Nashville, TN (15:53)I've had an anxiety disorder for many years, and nothing seems to be helping. I've read that micro-dosing LSD is supposed to help, but it's not legal. Want to reach out to us? Want to leave a comment or review? Want to give us a suggestion or berate Anthony? Send us a text by clicking this link!Silence speaks volumes during Holy Week. As we journey through the sacred days leading to Easter, today's reflection invites us to contemplate Christ's profound silence during His Passion—a silence that bewildered even Pilate. Unlike the bitter silence of resentment, Jesus' quiet demeanor flowed from a soul completely immersed in God, drawing strength for His ultimate sacrifice. The meditation reveals a beautiful paradox: while Jesus bore the weight of humanity's sins in silence, He also offered us the gift of hope. "He that hath walked in darkness and hath no light, let him hope in the name of the Lord and lean upon his God." This invitation to hope comes alongside a challenge to embrace silence ourselves during this holiest of weeks.Reflecting on our spiritual journey, we confront an uncomfortable truth—how noise has gradually invaded the baptismal silence where God once dwelled undisturbed in our souls. For some, the challenge lies in excessive talking; for others, it's the compulsive filling of every moment with digital stimulation, podcasts, or scrolling that prevents true silence from taking root. Nature often provides the first gateway back to this original silence, creating space where prayer can flourish without distraction. As we prepare for the Triduum, consider embracing one of today's resolutions: seek silence, reflect before speaking, incorporate brief prayers throughout your day, or plan a silent retreat in the coming year. These small steps toward reclaiming sacred silence might just be what allows us to hear the gentle voice of God once more. Join us tomorrow for Spy Wednesday as we explore the virtue of fortitude before entering the most solemn days of the Christian calendar.Support the showSponsored by Recusant Cellars, an unapologetically Catholic and pro-life winery from Washington state. Tuesday of Holy Week is traditionally remembered as a day of teaching. In Matthew's Gospel, chapter 23 stands out as one of the most intense and honest teachings Jesus gives during his final week. Send us a textThe final week before Easter offers us a sacred opportunity to draw closer to Jesus Christ by reflecting on the deliberate steps he took toward his sacrifice and resurrection. While many rush to Easter Sunday's celebration, this episode explores the profound significance of each day leading up to Christianity's most pivotal moment.Beginning with Palm Sunday's triumphant entry into Jerusalem where crowds shouted "Hosanna" and spread palm branches before Jesus, we journey through each meaningful day. On Holy Monday, Jesus cleansed the temple and cursed the barren fig tree—symbolic actions revealing his divine authority and the need for genuine spiritual fruit. Holy Tuesday brought confrontations with religious leaders trying to trap Jesus, while Spy Wednesday marked Judas's fateful decision to betray his master for thirty pieces of silver. The Last Supper on Maundy Thursday gave us both communion and Christ's new commandment to "love one another as I have loved you."Every moment of Holy Week serves as another facet of the same diamond—unique, pure, and revealing the character of our Saviour. These eight days shifted humanity's relationship with God forever, establishing a new covenant through Jesus' perfect sacrifice. By understanding the biblical context and prophecies fulfilled during this week, believers gain a richer appreciation for Easter itself. The resurrection isn't merely a standalone event but the triumphant culmination of a deliberate journey of love. As you move through the days before Easter, consider reading the suggested scripture passages to experience the full weight and wonder of what Jesus accomplished for us all.Reflect on each day's significance this week, from Palm Sunday through Maundy Thursday, preparing your heart for Good Friday and Easter. Jesus continues to wear out his welcome in Jerusalem. The various power blocs within the religious leadership of the day pepper him with questions, often trick questions, hoping to discredit him and his disciples in the eyes of the faithful without drawing the attention of the occupying Romans. But Jesus is never one to shy away from controversy for the sake of a larger and more loving Gospel, which angers those powers enough they begin to look for a way to shuffle him off the public stage, permanently.
