Why is Christianity based on the Death and Resurrection of Christ? Man cannot save himself. Everything of the Old Creation is only worthy of being consigned to judgment and death (Isaiah 53:6). Only then can God bring forth a new creation, a rebirth by resurrection (1Peter 1:3). In His death as the last Adam He took all the sin and curse of the original creation and brought it to judgment thru His death. Then as the 2nd Adam in His resurrection, He became the head of a new creation, the firstborn and first-fruits from the dead, the first of a new breed of redeemed humanity, recreated through their union with Christ (John 14:19, Romans 6:1-11, Colossians 2:12-13, 3:1,10-15, 2Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 2:1-10, 4:24).

Three things Jesus redeemed from the Garden of Eden: sin, shame, separation
The Suffering Story of Jesus is the Church’s Story too because the Church has always suffered most for preaching the gospel and is passionate for doing so. The final lesson from Jesus was his lived out suffering and crucifixion and resurrection. The final three chapters of Matthew’s gospel teach us our final lessons in Christian discipleship. We learn our weakness. We learn of Jesus’ fidelity in death. And we learn the power of Jesus’ resurrection and mission. Betrayal is a repeated themes in Matthew 26. It seems that everyone was guilty of handing over Jesus to death. Everyone betrays him.

Be acutely aware of my condition. Humbly accept God's forgiveness and restoration.
In this Series, we study the Foundational Doctrines of Christ. By hearing and doing the teaching of Christ, we build our lives on the ROCK - Christ Himself, the only true and firm foundation (Matthew 7:24-27, 16:18, Isaiah 28:16, 1Corinthians 3:11). Hebrews 5:12- 6:3 define the 7 key Foundational Doctrines of Christ, the Elementary Principles of God, the Milk of the Word, that we need to master before going on to the solid food. This is how our lives are to be built on the Foundation Rock – the Person of Christ. The FOUNDATION of JESUS CHRIST is laid in our lives by the GOSPEL, which reveals who He is, and His love for us, demonstrated by what He did for us in His death and resurrection: “No other FOUNDATION can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is JESUS CHRIST” (1Corinthians 3:11). When we believe the Gospel and receive Christ, the foundation (Christ) is laid (established) in us. Thus, the GOSPEL is the central, entry-level foundational Message of the Bible: “the Gospel of Christ is the Power of God unto Salvation for everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16). In this video, Pastor Derek shares the Gospel and explains how you can personally receive Jesus Christ and His free gift of forgiveness and eternal life. The video ends with a prayer you can pray to receive Christ as your Lord and Saviour. If you need to make sure that you are saved, and will go to Heaven when you die, then please pray this prayer with Pastor Derek, saying it from your heart to God, and you will be saved, for: “ALL who CALL on the Name of the Lord (Jesus) shall be SAVED” (Romans 10:13).

Jesus came to make all things new through His death and resurrection. (1) God made all things, but (2) man has corrupted all things, including himself, but (3) God became a man in the Person of Jesus Christ to make all things new, and if we receive Him as our Lord and Saviour, He will make us a New Creation in Christ. One day, God will destroy this universe and make all things new, by creating a new heaven and earth, which will last for ever (Revelation 21:1-7).

Who does God love? From our human perspective we would put stipulations and judgements on that love, but is that really what determines God's love? Brett kicks off a new series to help us center our lives on God to navigate the ever changing waters of life, and that begins with understanding God's love.
