It happens more than you think: you watch a great movie only to find out months (or years) later that it was based off an old TV show that you now have to go watch. Alternatively, you go see a movie based on a TV show you really love, only to be disappointed at the crappy shlock you were fed under the guise of characters you love. Well, J & Q are sick of the runaround. It's time, once and for all, to dive in and let you know what are the Top 5 TV-to-Movie Adaptations of All Time so you don't have to waste your hours on Charlie's Angels or The Last Airbender or The Dukes of Hazard or X-Files: I Want to Believe or.....you get it, there are a lot of shitty ones out there. Let Q & J provide a map to the best movies based of TV shows for you, so you can head straight for Star Trek and Mission: Impossible country and avoid It's Pat and The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Wild Wild West and Alvin and the Chipmunks and....Jesus, the shit just keeps on coming. Don't worry, we aren't going to talk TV and not have a #JennaJabber, highlighting the wonderful Jenna von Oÿ! So settle in, grab your popcorn, and power up that remote, we're headed into very tested waters and trying to avoid the debris.

What happens when an idea, best left to a 5-8 minute Saturday Night Live Skit, gets the "full movie" treatment? You sometimes get decent movies, like "Night at the Roxbury", but often, you get things like "It's Pat" and "The Ladies' Man". This one falls heavily on the Latter. Dana Carvey stars in this movie about a guy who can transform into disguises, and supposed hilarity ensues.
After discussing Breaking Bad, a new name for the patrons of the show (The Christofunders), swapping stories of what they did for the past two weeks, and a short "Walkening" segment in which Kenny describes an experience involving Christopher Walken at a Sheetz convenience store, Brandon and Kenny discuss Walken's second SNL appearance. Prominent sketches included "The Continental," the "Dead Zone" parody "Ed Glosser: Trivial Psychic," and "It's Pat," in which Walken throws himself out a window after being deeply troubled by Pat's androgyny. They spend the last ten minutes talking about their next movie, "Le Grande Pardon II," and mock someone for their ridiculous user review of the film on IMDb.
After two months of guests at the table and different cast variations, the trio return to talk "rock vs. disco" in the conclusion of the two-part series, The Disco Years. It's Pat, Mike, and Stick this time for Episode 28 of Rock Under Fire, where Barry White, James Brown, George Clinton, Donna Summer, the Village People, Casablanca Records, Philly soul, Giorgio Moroder, the Rolling Stones, NIle Rodgers, Kiss, Rod Stewart, Saturday Night Fever, the Bee Gees, Sister Sledge and many other names are all discussed, as well as the underlying social, racial, gender, and sexual implications during the era. We even get into the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates! We thank all of you who continue to support Rock Under Fire, and we welcome any new listeners to the show. As a rock and roll podcast, we make it a point not to focus on any one particular artist, band, or genre of music, but with that comes the reality that our show may not always appeal to everyone at the same time. The seven decades of rock and roll music along with its even longer history gives us an extremely broad canvas to create discussions on, drawing from different areas with each episode. So there is still always something for everyone. In the previous 27 episodes we've discussed The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Prince, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Kiss, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, the Monterey Pop Festival, Woodstock, Doo Wop, The Beach Boys, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Steely Dan, The Strokes, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, The Doors, Patti Smith, The Ramones, Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Guns n Roses, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Velvet Underground, the Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Cars, Cheap Trick, Heart, Dave Grohl, Jack White, digital streaming, the state of the music industry and record labels, the effect of rap and hip hop on rock, Neil Young, Talking Heads, Counting Crows, Boston, The Temptations, Bon Jovi, AC/DC, the Smithereens, Suzanne Vega, Van Halen, Rick Rubin, The Gun Club, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, The Mekons, UFO, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Chuck Klosterman, John Philip Sousa, Billy Joel, The Wipers, Iron Maiden, Kurt Vonnegut, Tom Waits, Thin Lizzy, the Bee Gees, Mozart, Beethoven, Puccini, Bob Marley, 5 Seconds of Summer, Twenty One Pilots, Ed Sheeran, J Geils Band, Billy Miller, Chris Cornell, the Desert Trip concerts, aging rock stars, our favorite debut albums, soundtracks, music licensing, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, disco vs. rock, and our most overrated and underrated artists. We've also been joined by special guests such as, author and photographers Bob Gruen and Lydia Criss, author and pop culture critic Alice Echols, and writer and director Michael Lee Nirenberg. As if the love story in It's Pat wasn't bad enough, the ICTFB crew takes on their first (of many) of the comedy abominations of Seltzer and Friedberg. Tune in to hear Zip break down, Adena's line get crossed, and Jack's voice fade away into the void.
After saying "See ya!" to Theadore Rex, the gang encounters their next challenge...a terror to make all self-respecting comedies recoil in fear: It's Pat!
It's Pat and Jahred's first and best episode of 2016 thus far.
