In this week's episode, Raven tells Jess about her new vibrating gaming chair and the COVID-19 protesters she saw outside her workplace. And, in A Clash of Kings, Raven rejoices when Theon's chapter finally hints at his thoughts on betraying Robb and Winterfell, and Jess points out an interesting similarity between Theon and Sansa. The sisters find themselves disappointed in Arya for the first time, learn a new word, and Raven drools over Jaqen H'ghar's coolness. Also, Jess defines a "woman's courage," Raven accidentally gains some respect for Catelyn, and questions everything. Other topics include gaming headsets and sour beer. Character perspectives in this episode: Theon, Arya, and Catelyn... Thanks for listening! Hello and welcome back to the NotACast, the one true chapter-by-chapter podcast going through A Song of Ice and Fire one chapter a week! In this episode, Tywin "the Lion Loser" Lannister marches from Harrenhal, and Arya whispers a second name to Jaqen H'ghar...only to regret it far too late. This week, we: - Praise George's writing of an army in motion - Talk about the transitional, small-scale nature of the second of three wishes - Frame this chapter (laden with animal imagery) as the food chain, a hierarchy driven by hunger and pain - Discuss Arya's conflicted loyalties between identities and conceptions of justice - Dig into the conundrum Arya faces regarding whether Weese was a worthy target Next week: we return to Riverrun for Catelyn V, in which Brienne swears her sword to Catelyn, Edmure prepares to give battle to Tywin at the Fords, and Ned's bones pass on through. Hello and welcome back to the NotACast, the one true chapter-by-chapter podcast going through A Song of Ice and Fire one chapter a week! In this episode, Theon Greyjoy descends through the first five layers of hell, takes a look around, and decides that the fifth layer isn’t deep enough. He’s going for the sixth layer. This week, we: - Praise George's in medias res structure for the chapter - Watch Theon's opposing identities come into conflict - Roll our eyes at the selfish violent ways he tries to resolve that conflict - Raise a glass for Dagmer Cleftjaw, the only person who loves Theon - Dig into the layers of folly in Theon's plan to take Winterfell Next week: we haunt Harrenhal once more in Arya VIII, in which Tywin marches west and Arya whispers a second name to Jaqen H'ghar...only to regret it far too late. We close out our time in Westeros with a discussion about minor characters, character arcs, thirst traps, spinoffs, and whether or not the books will ever be completed. This was a marathon discussion and it’s very apparent that one of us is three sheets to the wind as we finally reached the finish line. We dig into our favorite minor characters, which includes a salute to the queen of memes and queen of our hearts - Olenna Tyrell. Jocelyn remains completely on brand and could not choose a single character. As a result, we discuss that sexy Jaqen H'ghar music, characters who are tired of everyone’s ish, and give some well deserved love to the Reed children.Next, we get deep into our feelings about Theon Greyjoy and Jaime Lannister as we discuss our favorite character arcs from the series. We also get into our least favorite arcs. Jocelyn did not appreciate Littlefinger hustling backwards towards the end of his arc and Kristine wanted more development for Daenerys. We then move on to character deaths, which leads us to salute the Queen of Thornes once again for going out like a champ. We discuss the deaths we liked, the deaths we hated, and the ones that left us in shambles. If you are one with the thirst and the thirst is one with you, the segment on thirst traps will not disappoint! We also settle a very important debate about the best Daario and chat about our favorite failed fan theories. The episode closes out with what’s next for fans and we revisit our prior discussion on Pose in response to a lovely listener letter.Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, and we use adult language. We will see you next Wine Wednesday for a discussion about Fleabag. Welcome to the post-Thrones world. Season 8 has come to an end, and as literally anyone on the internet will tell you; it sucked. Combining the disappointments of tons of abandoned character arcs, complete departure from good writing and some stupid deaths, the show that captured the world's attention will conclude as anticlimactically as possible. You'll hear me rant enough in the podcast, but as per the title here's my theory; obviously we know Jaqen h'ghar can go anywhere and be anyone. So why not an animal like a horse? Perhaps another faceless man is working the bottom half of the "horse costume". Also, that horse belonged to Harry Strickland who led the Golden Company's attempted defense of Kings Landing. So it's very within the realm of possibility that Jaqen could have infiltrated the Golden Company somewhere in Essos. But the most important Easter egg? The reason the white horse remained white, un-burned (mostly) and clean throughout the flames of King's Landing? Because Strickland anything is always clean, efficient and way better than anything Thatherton could make! (King of the Hill fandom runs deep)Besides all that, I had some ideas for a Fortnite movie. We're going to get one, maybe this year, or next. Ideally while the hype lasts, but studios have never been great at cashing in on-time in that area. I'm pitching ya'll a fast paced, comedic spin on it that will stay very true to the source material, but explore intense and hilarious combat situations that playing 8 seasons has shown me exist. There's bubble vehicles, all kinds of costumes, Blue Juice, treasure seeking, shadow forms, boogie grenades, tons of guns and a hell of a lot more stuff that would turn a regular shoot-em-up movie into something beyond that. A task I believe only Edgar Wright could get right. Also, climb aboard China, I've been imagining the movie takes place in a somewhat futuristic China, so why not get everybody in on this. Gotta get that yen. Oh and I'm a father now, officially. A padre, if you will. My son is wonderful, adorable and a delight. But also an insomniac poop machine. So I get into some of the new thrills and chills of being a dad, with a lot more of that kind of content coming soon. Thanks for listening guys, keep on trucking (as if you'd ever stop trucking).

Join Nat & Stu as they kick off a discussion about Season 2, sometimes forgotten, but always awesome. There's talk of Jaqen H'ghar and Arya's deathly deal, Jon Snow's adventures north of The Wall, the Battle of Blackwater Bay, Melisandre's shadow baby, Robb Stark's seemingly so positive war record, Dany's dreary-ish story arc, and for some reason, a deep dive into what Qarth must be like these days.
