SPOILER ALERT Criston Cole wanted a blaze-of-glory death song. Instead, he got arrows and immediate irrelevance. This week on Thumb War, we're breaking down House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 6: Faceless Man or The Butcher's Ball?, aka the episode Rachel correctly renames The Hubris and the Humbling. We get into the Butcher's Ball, Black Aly shutting Criston Cole up, Alicent and Helaena being absolutely terrible at escaping, Rhaenyra trying royal customer service and hating every second of it, Daemon badly hiding his extremely white hair under a helmet, and the mysterious “Faceless Man” who may just be some guy. Plus: Rhaena's missing Sheepstealer scene, Jeyne Arryn's Moon Door hobby, Mysaria getting ruthless, Corlys and Alyn's daddy issues, Aegon asking if he's a bad man, Tyland joining the world's funniest grave-digging trio, and Alice Rivers casually revealing five dragon eggs. In this episode, we continue our weekly recaps of the third season of the hit HBO original series from the Game of Thrones universe, House of the Dragon, starring Emma D'Arcy, Matt Smith, and Olivia Cooke. We discuss whether it was a good idea for Rhaenyra to send Alicent to find Aemond, and we debate whether Daemon's actions in this episode have damaged Rhaenyra's support in King's Landing.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It amazes me sometimes that, 242 episodes into this whole thing. how many stories we still haven't read. When Jason Todd tier backer Kyle Still came to me with his options for this week's episode, and one of them included the Batman and Robin tie-in to the Joker-centric event "Death of the Family" I realized that we had never actually done the main arc from Scott Snyder's run on Batman. So, well, that sort of settled things. This week we read a story that features, as Will calls him, "the gayest Joker ever," as Joker, who at this point has no face, does everything he can to show how much he loves Batman in stories from the New 52 volumes of Batman, Batman and Robin and (sort of anyway) Detective Comics. Death of the Family (Batman V.2 # 13-17) Little Big Man (Batman and Robin V.2 # 15-16) Nothin' But Smiles (Detective Comics V.2 # 16-17) Check out our current ranking list at www.comicsxf.com/batchat-rankings/ Thanks to Geri Nonnewitz for our podcast logo Support the show on Patreon at www.patreon.com/batchatwithmattandwill

Send us Fan MailArya gets her first assignment as an assassin for the House of Black and White. She also gets a new face, that of a little girl who had been badly beaten. After a successful mission, Arya is promoted to Acolyte and given her first apprenticeship. Simon and Mackelly decide to stop biting their coins.Chapter Review:Arya Stark witnesses a meeting of priests of the House of Black and White. When the meeting ends, one of the men talks with her. He accuses her of being too soft, selfish, and proud to be one of them. However, in the end, he gives her an assignment. She is to kill a ship insurer. To scope out her target she will resume the role of Cat of the Canals. While selling her cockles and watching her mark, she notices that he bites every coin he receives. A plan comes to her as to how best to deliver him the “gift.” The Kindly Man takes her deep into the heart of the temple where the faces are stored. He removes Arya's face and replaces it with that of a girl who had been beaten by her father to the point of disfigurement. From her perspective, Arya can't tell the difference. However, the Kindly Man assures her that nobody who sees her face will soon forget it.The next day Arya waits for a man to walk by on his way to pay the ship insurer. She cuts his purse and grabs a handful of coins. The man turns to stop her and coins spill to the ground. Arya runs and hides for a while. When she returns to the House of Black and White, she tells the Kindly Man that she replaced one of the man's coins with one she had poisoned. When her target receives the payment he will bite the coin, and at some point later that day his heart will give out. The Kindly Man tells her she might not be hopeless after all. He gives her the robe of an acolyte, but tells her not to get too comfortable in it. Starting tomorrow she begins an apprenticeship.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Arya Stark - Younger daughter of Ned and Catelyn Stark.Kindly Man - Priest of the Many-Faced God.Waif - Priestess of the Many-Faced God.Many-Faced God - God worshiped in Essos that embodies all gods.House of Black and White - Temple of the Many-Faced God in Braavos. All Music credits to Ross Bugden:INSTAGRAM! : https://instagram.com Support the showSupport us:Buy us a Cup of Arbor Gold, or become a sustainer and receive cool perksDonate to our causeUse our exclusive URL for a free 30-day trial of AudibleBuy or gift Marriott Bonvoy points through our affiliate linkBuy GoH merchandise through our store.Rate and review us at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, podchaser.com, and elsewhere.Find us on social media:DiscordTwitter @GhostsHarrenhalFacebookInstagramYouTubeAll Music credits to Ross Bugden:INSTAGRAM! : https://instagram.com/rossbugden/ (rossbugden) TWITTER! : https://twitter.com/RossBugden (@rossbugden) YOUTUBE! : https://www.youtube.com/wa...

It starts like all the scariest stories do — small, ordinary, almost forgettable. A little girl cutting cardboard houses on a quiet afternoon in a Victorian home in Florenceville, New Brunswick. Then she hears a man call her name. She runs to the stairs and sees him: a faceless figure of blackness molded into the shape of a man. No features. No eyes. Just a void that looks back. This is a true ghost story about a haunting that doesn't live in a place — it lives in a person. From that first encounter the faceless Shadow follows her across provinces and years, showing up in closets, leaning over beds, and even stepping into the bedroom of her skeptical boyfriend. When he mocks it, Shadow changes shape — a cat-shaped void lunges at his face and vanishes — and doubt collapses into terror. This chilling account blurs the lines between hauntings, possession, and emotional attachment. Is Shadow a demon, an imprint, or a parasitic entity that feeds on attention and longing? Is the comfort he provides a warped kind of love — or a leash? In this episode we take you inside a decades-long, cross-border haunting that will make you question what a “friend” can look like in the dark. If you love real ghost stories, haunted house investigations, and true accounts of unexplained phenomena, this episode is made for you. #TrueGhostStory #ShadowFigure #HauntedHouse #RealHaunting #Paranormal #DemonicOrNot #Possession #HauntingStories #GhostEncounters #UnexplainedPhenomena #CreepyTrueStory #HauntedVictorian Love real ghost stories? The first encounter includes a being that he called "Skunk Woman". At first his parents thought Shawn had a new imaginary friend, but quickly realized that something more sinister was at work. Next Shawn recounts an encounter with a faceless being in his bedroom at the age of 10. Both encounters are terrifying in their own right, and left Shawn with more questions than answers. After years of research, Shawn finally decided to start his own podcast and interview other guests who have had a brush with the unknown. Do not miss the terrifying first episode of Firelight Vibes.

Fort Mifflin in Philadelphia is a national historic landmark. It is one of the only intact Revolutionary War Battlefields and the only fort in Philadelphia. It was commissioned in 1771, and in the fall of 1777, it was bombarded and captured by the British. Hundreds of soldiers were killed or wounded in the brutal attack. In a visit to Fort Mifflin, you would not only stand on a Revolutionary War battlefield but also be inside a Civil War Prison and next to a magazine storing gunpowder during World War II. With a rich history like that, it's no surprise that Fort Mifflin is also haunted. In fact, it is widely regarded as one of the most haunted sites in America. In this episode, we'll explore the history of the Fort and talk about some of the ghosts that haunt the grounds, The Faceless Man, The Screaming Lady, and "The Tour Guide" with the Executive Director of Fort Mifflin, Beth Beatty. The Follycast Episode 7: Lies Sleeping In this month’s episode… …..we review Lies Sleeping, book seven in the Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch. The book brings to a conclusion the Faceless Man and Mr Punch plotlines (or does it?) in a story that somehow ties together magical bells, oubliettes, The Silmarillion, Merlin, King Arthur, goat sacrifices, foxes, cheese puffs, St Pauls, Glastonbury, Roman London and Covent Garden Tesco Metro. In our next episode we will be reviewing the recently released book of short stories ‘Tales From the Folly’ Credits Hosted by Margaret Holborn and Richard Marks, with Jan Trott and Jennie Beck Produced by Richard Marks for Uncertain Smile productions Theme tune: ‘London Is Inspired’ by Cutwater: www.cutwaterband.co.uk. The Follycast Episode 6: The Hanging Tree In this month’s episode… … after a magical midsummer sojourn with unicorns and fairies, we are firmly back in London and the hunt for the Faceless Man takes centre stage. Peter and Guleed investigate a drug-related death at a socialite party and along the way encounter shady US agents, Lady Ty floods part of central London and we discover the history of magic from a female perspective. And yes, Lesley is back and Harrods electrical department is trashed in the process. We tackle such issues as the collective noun for rich girls, at what point in the book Richard’s head nearly exploded, why Rivers Of London books are easier to read on a Kindle and what any of this has to do with the history of women’s football and the Number 14 bus route. Every so often I get the chance to chat with a genuine Aussie icon of film and TV, and in this interview, I get to chat with the King of Kings: Roger Ward. Star of Turkey Shoot, The Man From Hong Kong, Mad Max, and writer of The Set, Roger's new film, The Faceless Man, is landing around the world for horror fans to enjoy, and in this discussion we talk about his long history of working with great directors in great films. Dig on in. (Apologies for the background noise as well on this one, it was recorded during a rainy day in Perth.) Support The Curb on Patreon, and make sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Guest James Di Martino (filmmaker) stops by the chat about his film THE FACELESS MAN (2019) as well as review two lesser-known classics: The Man from Hong Kong (1975) and the french horror film Eyes without a Face (1960).
You want to talk about indie filmmakers? Between them, Sara O'Reilly & Jeremy Foley wrote, produced, directed, and edited the award winning short film The Faceless Man. On top of that, they're totally nice people and everyone who worked with them on this laborious passion project speaks highly of them. Even their lead actor, who endured hours of a prosthetic make-up application every day of the shoot, felt strongly enough about the film that he joined them at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival and said nothing but positive things about them at the Q&A. Not surprisingly, The Faceless Man took home a Grand Jury Prize at SOFF. On top of that, I want to mention that this lovely couple are genuine film lovers. They basically attended every screening of every film at the festival, showing support for their fellow filmmakers. This is called a class act. Enough praise... In this interview with filmmaker Julian Barbor we talk about his first screenplay getting made, the formation of his production company and his first feature film as a producer - the upcoming horror film: THE FACELESS MAN.
