Send us a Text Message.Arianne Martell and conspirators try to spirit Myrcella Baratheon away in order to crown her Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Their plot is foiled by Areo Hotah - who ambushes them and kills Arys Oakheart. Mackelly and Simon will miss the big guy.Chapter Review:Princess Arianne Martell and a handful of her closest friends wait at an abandoned holdfast for Ser Arys Oakheart and Princess Myrcella Baratheon. The rendezvous is the start of a long journey across Dorne. At the end of the journey, Arianne plans to crown Myrcella as Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. While they wait, her friend Garin shares news of the sighting of Arianne's brother Quentyn Martell in Planky Town seeking passage across the Narrow Sea. This only affirms Arianne's suspicions that Quentyn seeks the aid of the Golden Company to steal Arianne's birthright. With the new queen of the Seven Kingdoms on her side, and the support of the vast majority of the Dornish, Arianne will be sure to foil any of her brother's plans. When Ser Arys and Princess Myrcella arrive, Aryanne explains to Myrcella that Myrcella is the rightful queen and that Tommen has fallen in with bad advisors who have robbed her of her birthright. A confused Myrcella decides not to push the issue. The group leave for the Greenblood. Garin's family will meet them and take them up the river toward their destination. After a long, hot trip they arrive at the meeting point and find the boat where it should be. However, as they approach Aero Hotah steps onto the deck. Prince Doran's Captain of Guard tells them to stand down or all but the princesses must die. Most drop their weapons and yield. Ser Arys charges the boat and is cut down by bolts and ultimately Aero's axe. Arianne notices that Myrcella sobs into blood-covered hands before looking up at Areo. How did her father know? Areo responds that someone told. We also theorize the reason for the Golden Company breaking its contract with Myr, whose side Lady Merryweather is really on, what mistakes will lead to Cersei's downfall, and how Criston Cole fits into Jaime's struggle.Character perspectives in this episode: Jaime and Cersei...Create a podcast with Buzzsprout and get a $20 Amazon gift card with our link!https://www.buzzsprout.com/?referrer_id=289148Thanks so much for listening! We've reached it people. What we set out to do all those moons ago, we've finally done. We've made it to...the final season. Dreaded and critically maligned in the three years since its aired, Dom & Pat are aghast to discover that...it's not as bad as people may remember it. Now that's not to say that it doesn't have its fair share of flaws. The main concern seems to come down to Benioff & Weiss' decision to eliminate the Night King and the Army of the Dead at the halfway point rather than have the series conclude around them. This premiere episode sees Jon & Daenerys' combined armies arriving in Winterfell, meant to evoke how Robert Baratheon arrived in the series premiere, only for them to immediately be thrown into action when Bran warns them that the Army of the Dead has broken through the Wall. In King's Landing, Cersei greets the Golden Company and solidifies her alliance with Euron, while Theon rescues Yara before departing for Winterfell. It's a surprisingly solid premiere, and we cannot wait to break down the rest of this season for the final 6 episodes of #talkinthrones --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/talkintvpodcastgmailcom/support

Many people will have a leadership title at some point in their careers. But what sets managers apart from true, standout leaders? Mark Rucker, former Global VP of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, is here to share his years of wisdom and how you can not just glean it, but apply it. Mark Rucker is the CEO of The Golden Company, a speaker, and author. In addition to being a former Global VP for Disney, he is also a former SVP for Great Wolf Resorts. Over his 32 year career at Disney, Mark worked in over 15 different roles, spanning from an industrial engineer in parks and resorts to systems, transportation, corporate, and eventually Global Walt Disney. Leadership is a journey, and leaders aren't born, they're made, over time and through lessons learned. There is no one specific situation that makes you a leader. There are, however, pivotal moments that set your course. Document those key moments and lessons through a journal or a drop file. This allows you to build a solid foundation along the way for your leadership. The best way to grow your understanding is to seek it out. Reach out to friends you admire and respected colleagues and ask to grab coffee with them. Don't be shy about talking to people about things they are experts in. Taking the first step and seeking out wisdom will allow you to gain nuggets over time from others' experiences. And if there is one thing you want as a leader, it is wisdom. There is a difference between wisdom gleaned and wisdom applied. It isn't enough to ask and take notes. Standouts take it a step further. They figure out how to apply what they learn to their lives and put it into action. The biggest lesson you can learn as a leader is that you are not an island. Whether you face a small problem or have a large endeavor, you don't have to do it alone. Those you lead are no different. Whatever stage you are at, you need to have a team around you. Not only mentors. You need a full team – at work and in life. Everyone is completely different, and how we treat each other should be different, unique, and special. If you want to be a standout leader, you have to have a leadership adoption mindset. Get to know those who you work alongside. Give them care and love and the benefit of the doubt. Make it your goal to help them grow. The greatest joy of a leader is seeing someone you have led move up and flourish. As you grow others, you must also grow yourself. Lead yourself well, and you will lead others well. Treat yourself as the first person you have to lead, develop and grow. If you can take anything away from Mark and apply it immediately, it is this: You need a board of directors for your life and career. If you take one nugget, it is to start setting up coffee chats and searching for your board of directors. Rise. Shine. Impact. Learn from others and give back. Dorne? We don't need no stinking Dorne. Today we're going back to the Stormlands! In our second trip to Arianne land we get back to a long-forgotten kingdom, visit the Weeping Town, go caving, make contact with the Golden Company, re-meet Haldon Halfmaester and learn PLENTY about the next steps of Jon Con & Aegon. That, plus the fact they don't have any dragons. Uh oh.   As Arianne continues her development journey and thinks further on this monumental decision, she also keeps trying to reign in her cousin, accepts the danger of her position, and even (maybe) moves past the immaturity of the Quentyn Question to what it actually means if Dany isn't coming.   So step aboard the Isle for all that plus conversations on Horny Feathers, the symbolism of the Weeping Town's Tale, the political after effects of bringing the Golden Company to Westeros, Daemon bravery, Elia bravery, the beauty of the Rainwood, the mysticism of the historical caves and so, so much talk about the Stormlands and ESPECIALLY my beloved Storm's End. Welcome to a brand new era of the Dance! For one day only we abandon the mighty triforce to focus on not one but TWO brand new POVs, with a second chapter for a fella we've only just met. Against a backdrop of establishing what's coming to Meereen in the second act we see Tyrion's suggestions come to fruition in the Golden Company as the fate of the world is changed, we see how brutal battle can be in Astapor, even for a winning side, and then back in Westeros we get even luckier as we return to a fan favourite: Asha Greyjoy. And while she shows off vulnerability, leadership, and fury, the war in the north truly begins with a battle in the trees:   Today's brand spanking new chapters are: - The Lost Lord/ Jon Connington I - The Windblown/ Quentyn II - The Wayward Bride/ Asha I   Hop aboard the Isle for a chin wag on the wary empathy we can have with Jon Connington and his sense of loss, the moral make-up of the Golden Company and what it means for Westeros now they are coming, I thank George for the viewpoint of a newbie in war, there's a big look at how RIDICULOUS the Yunkish warlords are, plus analysis of the Theon the Latecomer idea, and how the North itself is made an actual enemy fighting against Asha, as well as lots of talk about how awesome she is in general. The Stormlands is primed to be one of the most exciting places to watch when we finally get The Winds of Winter. Not only is there an ongoing Golden Company invasion, but the looming taking of Storm's End and possible return of Edric Storm, Jon Connington's crusade, Arianne Martell's spelunking adventures, and the fate of Young Griff will have wide ranging effects on the rest of the story. The Fingers of Davos embark on episode 102 where we answer the question:  What if Dany had ignored Jorah, and got the Golden Company instead?  It turns out, Bloodriders, that this is a complicated question.  How long does it take her to get to Pentos?  How long until the Golden Company can arrive?  Can Pentos even CONTACT a sellsword company?  Where will Dany land and when?  What is going on in Westeros at that time?  Dany has been so isolated from the events of Westeros that they have continued on largely without influence from her, and we assume they do still. So sit back and enjoy this very time-dependent question!!! We have one more of these Whatifisodes left and then it is on to a new format wherein we bring in friends of the podcast to talk about their favorite chapters. But for now, sit back and relax as we talk some Daenerys! Welcome to the post-Thrones world. Season 8 has come to an end, and as literally anyone on the internet will tell you; it sucked. Combining the disappointments of tons of abandoned character arcs, complete departure from good writing and some stupid deaths, the show that captured the world's attention will conclude as anticlimactically as possible. You'll hear me rant enough in the podcast, but as per the title here's my theory; obviously we know Jaqen h'ghar can go anywhere and be anyone. So why not an animal like a horse? Perhaps another faceless man is working the bottom half of the "horse costume". Also, that horse belonged to Harry Strickland who led the Golden Company's attempted defense of Kings Landing. So it's very within the realm of possibility that Jaqen could have infiltrated the Golden Company somewhere in Essos. But the most important Easter egg? The reason the white horse remained white, un-burned (mostly) and clean throughout the flames of King's Landing? Because Strickland anything is always clean, efficient and way better than anything Thatherton could make! (King of the Hill fandom runs deep)Besides all that, I had some ideas for a Fortnite movie. We're going to get one, maybe this year, or next. Ideally while the hype lasts, but studios have never been great at cashing in on-time in that area. I'm pitching ya'll a fast paced, comedic spin on it that will stay very true to the source material, but explore intense and hilarious combat situations that playing 8 seasons has shown me exist. There's bubble vehicles, all kinds of costumes, Blue Juice, treasure seeking, shadow forms, boogie grenades, tons of guns and a hell of a lot more stuff that would turn a regular shoot-em-up movie into something beyond that. A task I believe only Edgar Wright could get right. Also, climb aboard China, I've been imagining the movie takes place in a somewhat futuristic China, so why not get everybody in on this. Gotta get that yen. Oh and I'm a father now, officially. A padre, if you will. My son is wonderful, adorable and a delight. But also an insomniac poop machine. So I get into some of the new thrills and chills of being a dad, with a lot more of that kind of content coming soon. Thanks for listening guys, keep on trucking (as if you'd ever stop trucking).

Merbear and the Maiden Jer - Game of Thrones

Varys wants Jon to take the Iron Throne, but Jon refuses to betray Daenerys. After Tyrion informs her of Varys' plot, she has Drogon burn Varys. Daenerys plans to incinerate King's Landing, but Tyrion conspires with Jaime to surrender the city if Jaime can convince Cersei to abdicate and secretly leave. As Jaime, Arya, and Sandor infiltrate King's Landing, Daenerys has Drogon destroy the scorpions, Iron Fleet, and the Golden Company, allowing her army to enter. The Lannister forces are overwhelmed and surrender, but an enraged Daenerys attacks the city on Drogon, indiscriminately incinerating soldiers and civilians. The allied army follows her lead, slaughtering all in their path, horrifying Tyrion and Jon. After entering the Red Keep, Jaime kills Euron Greyjoy, but is mortally wounded. The Hound convinces Arya to abandon killing Cersei, then engages the Mountain, who kills Qyburn. The Hound and the Mountain fight fiercely, the brothers dying together after falling into flames. Cersei and Jaime reunite and flee, but their escape tunnel collapses, blocking their escape. Jon calls for retreat as civilians flee a disintegrating King's Landing on fire. Arya, amid the destruction, barely escapes the city alive.

"The Last of The Starks," brought back the political struggles, shocking developments, and complex conversations of earlier seasons without losing the massive scale and sprawling tales of Season 8. Episode 4's breakneck race to the "Game of Thrones" finish line might seem like sloppy writing and impatience, but Gene and Dick believe there's a method to the madness. Hear about that as we weigh the strengths and weaknesses of the two remaining factions: Team Cersei and Team Daenerys.  Speaking of Dany, Big D lays out an impressive argument pointing to the Breaker of Chains as the next Mad Queen. Gene predictably plays devil's advocate and defends Dany as a born ruler who has suffered from being too lenient. Wondering how the hell Euron knew the good guys were sailing toward Dragonstone? We'll dive deep into the lightning speed of information in Westeros and examine whether there's a spy in Dany's camp. And of course we'll preview this season's last remaining bit of dazzle: The Golden Company. Tormund and Beric inspect a devastated castle, and encounter Edd and members of the Night's Watch; the occupants of the castle, now revealed to be House Umber's ancestral home Last Hearth, have already been wiped out by the Night King, who has left a message for the living. Jaime arrives at Winterfell, and encounters Bran in the courtyard. Season number: 8 Episode number: 1 Air date: April 14, 2019 Previous episode: The Dragon and the Wolf Next episode: Episode 2

Hello, lords and ladies of the realm! After dueling with the podcasting white walker overlords and the lengthiest hiatus yet, The Cast Beyond the Wall has returned with a full preview of the final season of Game of Thrones. Caleb is re-joined by co-hosts Austin Lucari and Daniel Stull to look back at last year's greatest hits before they make their predictions on the twists, backstabbings, and deaths ahead in the final six episodes of Game of Thrones. The podcast kicks off with a brief look back at the highs and lows of season 7 before the cast breaks down the position of each main character and the role they'll play in the final storylines. Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen have taken their forces north to Winterfell to prepare for the Night King's armies who are marching south after the attack on Eastwatch. South in King's Landing, Cersei has conspired with Euron Greyjoy to break her oath and betray Jon and Daenerys by retaking Westeros while her adversaries are fighting the army of the dead. After discovering this plot, Jaime left Cersei to join the forces fighting in the north. With her enemies vulnerable, will her plan to retake Westeros prove successful or threatening to the heroes waging war with the wights? One potential threat to her plan is Theon Greyjoy's mission to rescue his sister, Yara, from the cartoonish clutches or Euron and his newly recruited Golden Company. With Theon's redemption all but complete, can his small team of Iron Islanders do enough to sabotage Cersei's scheme? All of these questions and more will be discussed in this final season preview. To close out the conversation, The Cast Beyond the Wall reveals the plans to bring back the fan favorite Game of Thrones Fantasy League. Once again, Caleb, Austin, and Daniel will play in this year's year's special Fantasy League put on by The Verge. Start placing your bets now, because these stakes and results are coming in hot! The final season of Game of Thrones is bittersweet and The Cast Beyond the Wall will be there with you each and every step of the way. When the dust settles, all debts will be paid and the chilling winter winds will blow over the graves of our favorite fallen characters. Merbear and the Maiden Jer - Game of Thrones

Meredith Geddes and Jeremy Baker from CFOX are joined by Taylor Assion from the Storm Crow Tavern & Alehouse to discuss the season 7 finale! At King's Landing, the wight is presented to the Lannisters. Cersei demands Jon's neutrality in the Great War, but he upholds his oath to Daenerys, provoking Cersei to leave. Tyrion meets privately with Cersei, apparently persuading her to ally. Cersei later reveals to Jaime that she was lying and instead intends to use the Golden Company of Braavos to secure her hold on Westeros. Disgusted, Jaime deserts her and rides north. Bound for White Harbor, Jon and Daenerys make love. At Dragonstone, Theon earns the respect of his men and leads them to rescue Yara. At Winterfell, Littlefinger sows dissent using Arya's threatening demeanor with Sansa, leading to a trial. To his surprise, Littlefinger finds himself accused of murder, treason and betrayal, with Bran confirming the extent of his crimes. Deserted by the Lord of the Vale, Littlefinger is executed by Arya. Samwell arrives at Winterfell and meets with Bran, where both discuss Jon's parentage. They realise Jon is a trueborn Targaryen named Aegon and legitimate heir to the Iron Throne, as his parents — Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark — married in secret. At Eastwatch, the Night King rides the undead dragon Viserion and collapses a section of the Wall with blue dragon fire, allowing the Army of the Dead to march through.

Gene lists three battles he believes were better than the dragon attack at Blackwater Rush, and Rog happily counters. Does Game of Thrones suddenly have a problem killing beloved characters? Is Littlefinger the Severus Snape of Westeros? What does "chaos is a ladder" mean, and how far to Bran's powers go? We answer all those questions, plus dig into who the Golden Company are, whether Tyrion and Daenerys are growing apart, and how the Dothraki caught up with the Lannisters so quickly (they didn't.)
