Brixton Key https://brixtonkey.com/ Brixton Key was born in 1950's London to a party-loving mum and an errant scallywag dad. As a small boy, he fell in love with the sound of his elder brother's Muddy Waters and Howling Wolf's Chess records, Charles Dickens novels, Edith Sitwell poems. causing continual mischief and on the bombsites surrounding his parents central London pub. Now longhaired and Kings Road dressed, Brixton copped a gig at the British music weekly Melody Maker. Writing under the name of Mark Plummer, Brixton wrote features about the likes of Rod Stewart, Paul McCartney, Hawkwind, Rory Gallagher and The Who. Tossing away his raincoat and California dreaming, he jetted to San Francisco where he discovered Chris Isaak, managing the pop idol to his hit record, Wicked Game.
This is a re-release of my episode from last year with Roger K Burton. Roger sadly passed away recently. I decided to make this episode free so more people can here his story and honour his memory. Roger was a huge influence in British Subculture. The best thing about when I spoke to Roger was that after I started to meet different people in London whose lives had all at one point been touched by him, people who worked for him at in the 80s, 90s up until recently, and hearing there fond memories of him.Roger is a Costume Designer, Stylist, Collector, Curator and Author. His book Rebel threads (which I can't recommend more) takes you through the youth subcultures that were happening in the UK during the 20th century alongside amazing photographs and his own personal recollections within them. He founded Contemporary Wardrobe where many creatives, stylists, designers rent from his clothing archive which coexists with his exhibition space the Horse Hospital, a space so many diverse and underground artists have shown their work.In this episode Roger speaks on subcultures, recounts being a Mod in the 1960s, the punk era in 70s, creating the shop designs for Vivienne Westwood's World's End store on the Kings Road in Chelsea, his journey collecting and selling vintage, opening Contemporary Wardrobe and the Horse Hospital, Costume Designing the cult classic films Hackers and Quadrophenia, styling fashion and music icon David Bowie, the fashion scene today and so much more. Roger was truly one of a kind

Mona Kuhn discusses her recent artistic shift towards multimedia projects, specifically her "Kings Road" series. She explains that after years of focusing on traditional photography and print making, she felt the need to explore new avenues post-pandemic. This led her to create a 12-minute film composed of still photographs that are projected onto multiple walls, creating an immersive experience. The project, which also incorporates an original score by her husband, a composer, traveled extensively to various museums, including the Arts Design and Architecture Museum in Santa Barbara, the Kunz house, and a museum in China. Kuhn highlights how the addition of music influences the viewer's experience, impacting their pace and emotional connection to the work. The projections were shown alongside her traditional prints in a separate room, emphasizing the scale and cinematic nature of the multimedia installation.Show Clip from The Paris Chong Show with Mona Kuhnhttps://youtu.be/0hOYuPcKGVkhttps://www.theparischongshow.com
Paris Chong sits with renowned photographer Mona Kuhn to discuss her career journey, including the publication of her numerous books (technically ten, despite initial counting errors), and her collaborative work with various publishers. She shares an anecdote about her early career when Gerhard, a publisher, decided to create a book of her photographs, as a pivotal moment for her. Kuhn also elaborates on how each of her books resonates differently in various markets, such as Europe and the U.S., and her experience working with multiple publishers like Thames & Hudson and Stanley/Barker.The conversation delves into Kuhn's artistic process, her perspective on nude photography, and the inspiration she draws from various experiences. She explains that her approach to photography, particularly nudes, is influenced by her childhood experiences, especially her grandparents' natural attitude towards nudity. Kuhn also reveals that her photography class friends did not continue art professionally except her, which puts a sense of responsibility on her for her work. She talks about her book featuring a male nude named Charles, and how it was an exploration of the body and a deviation from typical nude photography. She also discusses her multimedia presentations and collaborations, like incorporating sound into her exhibitions with her composer husband. Finally, Mona Kuhn reflects on her journey as an artist, from her early days with a Kodak camera to her current exhibitions and projects. She discusses her recent exhibition at the Getty featuring books by historical female photographers, which she was also included in with other Southern California female photographers. She mentions her "Kings Road" series with its immersive projections and sound, as well as her upcoming series of still photographs inspired by summers in France. Kuhn shares her multilingual background and how moving to the U.S. influenced her English language acquisition, adding personal depth to her discussion of art and life experiences.Show Notes:www.theparischongshow.com/episodes/mona-kuhn-10-books-and-counting-of-exploring-the-human-formChapters:(00:00:00) Intro(00:00:39) Mona Kuhn(00:01:38) 7 Books(00:06:27) Male Models(00:08:57) How Did You Start Shooting Nudes(00:12:28) Happy For Success(00:14:03) New Exhibitions(00:16:00) Art Heroes(00:16:36) Next Art Projects(00:21:52) Actual Next Projects(00:24:31) Natural Relationship to Nudity(00:28:10) Artistic Perspective(00:30:38) Germany and Brazil(00:34:27) More of Mona(00:35:54) Outro

On May 3rd, 2013, 23-year-old Amber Berbiglia never showed up for work. She was always on time, so her coworkers immediately knew something was wrong. They texted and called but received no reply. Around the same time Amber's coworkers were trying to reach her, two separate 911 calls came in. The first was from a caller who reported an abandoned vehicle. The second came from a group of kids who said they had seen a body near the same car. When detectives arrived, they found Amber dead. She had suffered severe trauma to her head, and at first, it was assumed she had been shot. But the autopsy told a different story—she had been beaten, and her arms showed signs that she had fought back. Now, more than a decade later, the person who did this to Amber still hasn't been caught—and her family and friends are still fighting for answers. 23-year-old Amber Berbiglia left her apartment on Golf Colony Lane in Little River, South Carolina, to run errands in the Myrtle Beach area. She first went to get a haircut in North Myrtle Beach before heading to Ross Dress for Less on Kings Road. After returning items, she was then spotted at the Murphy's Gas Station on Kings Road at 2:00 p.m., before paying her cable bill roughly ten minutes later on Main Street, also known as Ocean Drive, in North Myrtle Beach. She was supposed to arrive at her job—Greg Norman's Australian Grill—by 4:00 p.m., but she never made it. Instead, two 911 calls came in reporting her car abandoned on Old Sanders Road under Robert Edge Parkway. Amber's body was discovered beaten, just feet from her car. Her cause of death was blunt force trauma with two skull fractures. There were no signs of robbery—her phone was within inches of her fingers, and her purse and cash were inside the car, untouched. Areo Hotah observes as Prince Doran Martell is visited by three Sand Snakes, each with a plan to seek revenge for their father Oberyn's murder. Kings lose to Cavaliers 136-110 In this episode of The Royal Report I discuss the Kings falling to the hot shooting of the Cavs, why this loss isn't worrying, Domantas Sabonis continuing to put up monster triple doubles, and much more
D-Lo spends hour one talking Kings and much more with their road trip ending today.
I am a bit surprised about the negativity coming from Kings fans after last night's loss to Miami. They are 3-1 thus far with three games remaining on this lengthy trip. So far so good! Don't make too much over one loss, or one win! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dan Silver and Mark Meehan to look ahead to Tuesday night's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Middlesbrough,In part one, Mark reports back from the Chelsea Pitch Owners AGM, held on Friday and discusses what was said and where next in a very important time for the Club and CPO with a stadium redevelopment or move in the offing. In part two we welcome back Dylan Polk from Carefree Louisiana to talk about their forthcoming annual 'Bluesday' event in New Orleans, centred around the Chelsea v Wolves match, his view on this season and a view on the American ownership from the US supporter's perspective. In part three we preview the Chelsea v Middlesbrough match starting with JK's summary of today's presser and Chidge's team selection. Will Boro target Colwill again – should Chilly start? What do we do up front given we need to win by 2 goals? Will Chelsea rise to the occasion like they did v Newcastle with a Wembley final and an incredible home record v Middlesbrough to uphold? It's genuinely massive tomorrow and kicks off a big 10 days for Chelsea with Boro in the Carabao Cup; Villa in the FA Cup and Liverpool in the Premier League. Will we find our way in to another Cup final and closer to another one or dip out of both in a week like we did 30 years ago? We wrap up with how we see the match going and our predictions. And on a sad final note, mark the passing of Tommy Baldwin, one of the King's of the Kings Road team of the late 1960's and early 1970's. Tommy was well loved by Chelsea supporters, was affectionately known as 'The Sponge' and was lauded with a brilliant song. Let's hope the Pearly Gates serenade him with a fine rendition of "His name is Tommy Baldwin, he's the leader of the team...". Farewell Tommy, thanks for the memories and Rest in Peace. This after he first stopped at a Historical Black College and University -- Edward Waters University.According to Jacksonville Sheriff, T.K. Waters, the manifesto the shooter left indicate very clearly that it was a racially based shooting. But we take issue with the Sheriff's description of this incident as a lone-wolf incident.I'm sure we will find that the manifesto mirrors the same ideology, beliefs, and even syntax of the the TOP's Grocery Store shooter in Buffalo, NY.We're calling on TK Waters to release the manifesto.
