On episode 110 we speak to a long-storied member of the Australian Country Music Scene in Brendan Radford. A fascinating ride of a journey playing in the bands of many national icons and international artists. He also writes, produces, directs and in his spare time releases music as a solo artist. An amazing story Brendan shared is one about a recording done by The Faceless Men, a band made up of quality musicians who usually are in the bands behind the faces. The Faceless Men, raised funds for Support Act. Support Act is the heart and hand of the Australian music industry. We are the music industry's charity, providing crisis relief, mental health and well-being support to musicians, managers, crew, music workers, and organisations across all genres of music. We return with another episode of Talkin' Thrones, the second of two parts covering all the subplots that weren't covered in last week's episode, very similar to how it played out last season. What's so interesting about Season 6 is that despite it being the most critically appealing, arguably the most commercially successful and probably the most mainstream the show had been up to that point, people seem to forget that the second half is primarily subplots that set up for later things down the line. Jaime finally carries out the plan to root the sparrows out of the city with help from the Tyrell army, but they are thwarted at the last second by Tommen unexpectedly being converted to the Sparrow's side, before Jaime is carted off to Riverrun to deal with the Blackfish having unexpectedly taken the castle back from the Freys. Sam & Gilly continue their journey south and arrive at Horn Hill, where they are confronted by Sam's father who still refuses to see that his son has grown since he first went to the Wall. Arya makes her decision regarding whether she will continue to play the Faceless Men's games. Bran & Meera narrowly manage to escape the Wights north of the Wall with help from an unexpected ally. Oh yeah, and Daenerys reminds the Dothraki why they're following her. Because we needed a cool scene with the dragons. Pat and I are back with another Talkin' Thrones episode as we get closer and closer to the finale! Next we have Season 6, Episode 2, "Home," another episode that is heavy on plot and introducing secondary character arcs, as we've grown accustomed to in the last couple seasons. This time, we finally have the return of Bran, to whom Pat & Dom dedicate a significant amount of time to breaking down what's been going on in his absense and how his lack of prescence may have contributed to Season 5's problems. Jon's fate hangs in the balance as the Night's Watch members prepare to defend his body. Arya is finally given a break from the Faceless Men. Jaime attempts to threaten the High Sparrow but finds him to be a much more devious opponent. Theon proclaims his intentions to return home, while Ramsay seizes complete control of Winterfell. Oh yeah, and Tyrion feels up some dragons. We've reached it, another finale to probably our most problematic and least enjoyable season of the show yet. Season 5 ultimately proved to be a severe downshift for the show, as this was the full transition away from the books, away from the awesome character moments and amazingly well thought out story decisions that carried the first four seasons to make something that truly earned its spot in the prestige TV hall of fame. Then with this season, to quote Professor Pat, just became another show. An exceedingly well made show, but just another show nonetheless. This finale "Mother's Mercy" is a cap off of that transition, with several moments that were extremely shocking and provoking in the moment, but have lost their steam with the benefit of hindsight, and others that just felt like quick wiffs to set up for what was coming next. Stannis is ultimately defeated both on the battlefield and in his moral compass, and meets his death at the hands of Brienne. Sansa & Theon escape Winterfell in a moment that felt a little too convenient to the plot. Jon is betrayed, stabbed and left to die by the brothers of the Night's Watch. Arya kills Meryn Trant, but is chastised by the Faceless Men for taking a life that wasn't hers. Jorah & Daario set off to find Daenerys, who finds herself at the mercy of the Dothraki, while Tyrion is left in charge of Meereen. Jaime leaves Dorne with Myrcella and tries to come clean to her, only for her to die in his arms. Cersei atones for her sins by committing a walk of penance, naked, across the city. We begin the final phase of the journey next week with the premiere of Season 6, so be sure to keep tuning in for new episodes of #talkinthrones released every Friday, only on the #talkintvpodcast --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/talkintvpodcastgmailcom/support
Alright, this one's a big one, the biggest one we've done in a while. We've been building up to this one for the whole season, and rightfully so, because this episode is ultimately the one that determines the course of the rest of the show, Season 5, Episode 8 "Hardhome," rightfully named after the devastating battle that takes place when the White Walkers unexpectedly attack and brutally massacre most of the Wildling forces in the first true demonstration of their power. Miguel Sapochnik's action directing skills are put on full display here, as Jon's arrival to treat with the Wildlings is interrupted when they come under attack by the army of the dead. It's an event that was only briefly mentioned in the book, but it's put on full display here, as the first of a couple surprise battles that would demonstrate the show's much increased action budget was now on the level of most movies. Hell, they're still making memes about the Night King's final resurrection of all the dead wildlings along the shore. Elsewhere, Cersei is made to confess but refuses, Arya is given her first assignment by the Faceless Men, Sansa forces Theon to reveal the truth, Sam tries to reassure Olly and Tyrion barters for Daenerys' favor. It's all covered every Friday all the way up until the finale only on the #talkintvpodcast --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/talkintvpodcastgmailcom/support

We'll be descending into the depths of the House of Black and White and learn what the Braavosi assassins the Faceless Men are after. Are they a death cult trying to bring about the end of life? A guard against the abuses of magic? The heroes who will stop the Others? Or just as they seem, a highly trained group of killers for hire? And why exactly are they so interested in Arya Stark? The end begins in truth this week, and we welcome it with another 3-hour-plus corker for you all. Specifically, this week is Feast week as we wave goodbye to all four POVs amidst chapters full of horror, fanaticism, and cliffhangers a-plenty. Fires are lit up in the snowy north as Asha watches the burning of living humans before a huge surprise comes out of the storm. Victarion has his own atrocious burnings in the waters of Slaver's Bay as he and his burned arm continue to spread misery. Then things take a turn as we head to Braavos to discover the deep, dark, magical secrets of the House of Black and White, the ones with faces and assassinations. As if that were not enough we end with one of the most infamous, most terrible events in the series: Cersei Lannister's walk of shame. The big moments do not stop coming in this one Today's goodbyes include: - Asha III/ The Sacrifice - Victarion II/ Victarion I - Arya II/ The Ugly Little Girl - Cersei II So jump aboard the Isle for discussions on why George has structured these four goodbyes all at once and how he weaves themes of horror and religious extremism through each and every one of them to signal the end of days. Come and talk on the view of the men burned by Stannis Baratheon and the morality of their punishment, on the truth behind what is happening with Victarion and Moqorro and who's controlling who. Marvel at the magical system of face swapping, wonder about the overall aims of the Faceless Men rushing Arya's education and where it points her future, and have a long talk about the real intent behind Cersei's punishment, the true evilness of Kevan Lannister, and precisely how her breaking will change her as we look towards Winds. We know Crouchy takes the art of scoring goals very seriously but what happens when the 'Faceless men' try and take them off you? Plus there's more Roy Keane gallery entrants.
The guys are back after a short hiatus! They discuss how they are dealing with the Coronavirus lockdown. They talk about all of the shows they are watching and games they are playing. And then they do a dive into everything we know about The Faceless Men. Check it out!
In AFFC, the Faceless Men of Braavos seem to take credit for engineering the Doom of Valyria, and most in the fandom agree they had a hand in it. But the Faceless Men usually work for hire, and there's this weird Valyrian prophecy about the gold of casterly Rock destroying Valyria... so did someone hire the Faceless Men to do the deed? There's a strong case to made that someone did - the Targaryens of Dragonstone. In other words... T+FM=D, or, "the Doom was an inside job."
On episode 21, the guys recap the new issue of Oblivion Song. They talk their predictions and opinions on the growing story regarding the Faceless Men. They also talk new movies and video games that they have seen and are playing.
From the livestream on Tues July 2nd. Since it's been fairly well established that GRRM is, in part, using F&B to set the table for future ASOIAF events, and given that the Faceless Man and Iron Bank are mentioned quite a bit in the book... then we should pay attention! Jim and A.Ron still don’t like the resolution of Arya’s Bravosi plotline, but admire a lot of the other goings on in the latest episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones, “No One”. The problem is, that’s a big part of the episode and over two years of investment into Arya’s Faceless Men training, so, it’s no minor thing. Other topics include the duality of Jaime, what’s next for King’s Landing, and is Sandor considering a second career as people’s champion? This week’s podcast is sponsored by Casper. Season 5 of Game of Thrones came to a close with the season finale, Mother's Mercy. The Cast Beyond the Wall is here to discuss what amounted to one of the most action-packed episodes of the entire series. Following the ultimate sacrifice of Shireen, Stannis prepared to attack Winterfell. In what had been prophecized as his defining moment, everything Stannis had killed for crumbled in mere moments. After being crushed by the Bolton army, Stannis fled into the woods where he would finally encounter the fan favorite Brienne of Tarth. We discuss the storyline that has been building to this moment for years. Despite the slow build up, it looks like we'll have to wait just a little bit longer to learn the fate of the fallen Baratheon. Our final trip to King's Landing this year took us to an unusual place as we finally felt sympathy for Cersei Baratheon as she "atoned" for her sins by making the demoralizing walk of shame to the Red Keep. Cersei is easily one of more villainess characters on the show, but watching the long walk was one of the most difficult scenes any of us had to sit through. We talk about her arc this season so far and whether or not her lowest moment could send her out to find redemption. Across the sea in Bravvos, Arya finally got some much-needed traction to what has been one of her more uneventful stories. After crossing the despised Meryn Trant off of her death list, we try to make sense of seemingly omniscient powers of the Faceless Men. We also head back to Mereen where Tyrion, Jorah, and Daario make plans to find Danerys back to the city. Game of Thrones left us on an especially distressing note as Jon Snow seems to have met a cruel fate at the hands of his own men of the Night's Watch. It may seem like a pretty definitely period to what has been a notably bleak season, but we all tune in with our own thoughts and theories about the ultimate fate of the famed bastard of Winterfell.
After a season light world breaking events, this week's episode of Game of Thrones, Hardhome delivered one of the biggest moments in the history of the show so far. The wait for winter is over and the White Walkers have finally arrived in truly terrifying fashion to slaughter what's left of the Wildling army. The Cast Beyond the Wall is here to discuss this game-changing defeat by the elusive Night's King and how it reframes the story of the entire series so far. Before getting to the titular event, we talk about the hotly anticipated pairing of Tyrion and Daenerys in Mereen. The two deliver a couple of the best scenes so far this season and we take a moment to try and unpack their dynamics. Hardhome also takes a moment to catch up with Arya in Braavos as she prepares to take on her first assignment from the Faceless Men. We try to decide if she's ready to go full Batman after months of training in The House of Black and White. We also take a moment to discuss Sansa's discovery of the truth about Bran and Rickon. After being beaten up by the monstrous Ramsey Bolton all season, she's finally starting to discover the drive she'll need to survive the trials she ahead. Theon may be broken beyond repair, but after learning the truth about her family it looks like she's about to become stronger than ever. We go in depth into every scene of what is undoubtedly the best episode of the season so far. Does it top some of the biggest moments from the Red Wedding, Battle of Blackwater, or Purple Wedding? Game of Thrones brought some controversy this week, and as is typically the case with any controversy, made for a great discussion. Julian and Daniel sit down to discuss all the outrage and vitriol as well as the rest of the events of the episode, which included; Arya delving deeper into the world of the Faceless Men, Tyrion and Jorrah running into a bit more trouble, Jamie and Bronn reaching Myrcella, Cersei's schemes in Kings Landing and Sansa's wedding in Winterfell.
“High Sparrow” picks up where “The House of Black and White” left off, giving us a much better look at The Faceless Men. This episode indicates we’re nearing the second-half spike that we usually see in Game of Thrones as Jon, Tyrion and Sansa’s storylines all leap forward at a healthy pace. J and I comment on the irony […] The post Stark Contrast: Episode 3 “High Sparrow” appeared first on Movie Fail.
Game of Thrones follows up its promising Season 5 debut with the faster-paced “The House of Black and White.” The episode finally picks up with Arya (Maisie Williams) following her voyage to Essos last season as she seeks out The Faceless Men. Looking at Arya Stark in The Winds of Winter, yolkboy and Lady Gwyn analyse Arya in her new role with Izembaro. The recent gift chapter reveals themes of sexuality, identity and (as the chapter title indicates) mercy. Using specially arranged readings to present key sections, we discuss Arya's identity, the role she plays in "The Bloody Hand" and why we think Needle makes an appearance late in the chapter. We also offer our unique speculation about Arya's future and a new role her Faceless Men training could be preparing her for. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
