DCOM May rolls on with 1999's Smart House! Ben, Andy, Cheddar, and Aquielle discuss the pre-Y2K-typifying millenial... classic? Directed by LeVar Burton and starring Katey Sagal, Ryan Merriman, Katie Volding, Kevin Kilner, and Jessica Steen.
A native of Toronto, Canada, Jessica Steen is probably best known in the U.S. for having been a regular on two short-lived TV series: the critically acclaimed Homefront and the science fiction show Earth 2. She also appeared opposite Michael Richards (Kramer from Seinfeld) in the film Trial and Error. She was additionally the only female regular on the 1987 syndicated show, Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future, and has appeared as a guest star on a number of other TV series including ER, Touched by an Angel, Murder One, and The Outer Limits. Steen was later cast as Constable Donna Sabine in the acclaimed Canadian police series Flashpoint, and Special Agent Paula Cassidy in the popular CBS drama NCIS. In 2012 she appeared as Commissioner Eva Braden in the dark comedy miniseries Bullet in the Face, written by Alan Spencer. She has done several Lifetime and Hallmark TV movies to date, and has also made an appearance in the Facebook Watch TV series Sacred Lies (2020). Steen landed the role of Lisa Stillman, which was initially intended to be guest stint, on Heartland, which is the longest-running hour-long scripted drama in Canadian TV history. We are turning the tables! Today, Heartland actress Jessica Steen and her friend Hayley Tyson, who is the writer, director & producer of the podcast Stream Queen that Jessica stars in, interview Lauren Yeates…Canadian Style! Brenna Coates lit up the screen as Lucy on CBC's Coroner and in the indie horror thriller The Sinners, and also won a 2018 Dora Mavor Moore Theatre Award for her work in Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem. Jessica Steen's long list of credits includes Stargate SG-1, Republic of Doyle, NCIS, and Lisa Stillman on Heartland, the longest-running hour-long scripted drama in Canadian history. Brenna and Jessica are both powerhouses in their own rights, so it's little surprise that they make absolute magic together playing daughter and mother in Stream Queen, a scripted audio comedy which takes us into the unfiltered lives of Gen Z vloggers. Stream Queen was written and directed by Hayley Tyson and has lived in the podcasting charts since dropping its five episodes in September. In this funny and fascinating interview, Jessica and Brenna talk about the joys and challenges of creating a sitcom for our ears, and how they really feel about the whole world of vlogging. Apologies are accepted, in the form of cash, and bridges are rebuilt just in time for a nuclear bomb to detonate in KAYLA's face, obliterating every authentic moment she treasured. This final reality check confirms that her guest has overstayed her welcome, as she strips KAYLA's façade bare. Starring Brenna Coates and Jessica Steen, with Gina Dineen.
Powering through grief with a dose of WTF??, KAYLA has zero tolerance for false narratives and has dropped the ‘polite-vail' to expose truth. Not an approach that sits well with her MOTHER who reacts with her usual ‘fight and flight' response. Starring Brenna Coates and Jessica Steen.
Conflict is their language, which pushed Kayla to move out at 17. But a surprise visit from her mother rockets Kayla from chill vlogger to exposed nerve in no time. Armed with a ring light and the record button she fires back, capturing the mother/daughter crash live; and gets exactly what she's been hoping for, but doesn't want. Starring Brenna Coates and Jessica Steen.
A nostalgic friend from the past promises new beginnings, until her ears are chewed off, literally. Forced to re-evaluate, Kayla turns a wry eye to her new roommate and does some digging of her own: Surprise, nothing is as it appears. Starring Brenna Coates and Jessica Steen, with Debi Dable and Tyson Kash.
Thumbprints and dried flowers push Kayla to her boiling point, as lines are crossed, and memories violated. The drama in the condo has hit a tipping point, and ethics get swayed by a barrage of enticing notifications. Starring Brenna Coates and Jessica Steen, with Patrick Desmond.

The Diad and Bedroth find themselves in a mixed-up situation in the 1997 legal comedy - as always, from the dual standpoints of casual moviegoer and legal expert. Charlie Tuttle (Jeff Daniels) has just been made partner in a successful law firm when his boss and future father-in-law sends him to Paradise Bluff, Nevada, to request a continuance in a mail fraud case involving a cousin-in-law, con artist Benny Gibbs (Rip Torn), who is likely to be found guilty. However, the timing of the trip conflicts with Charlie's bachelor party, which has been planned by his old friend and best man, actor Richard Rietti (Michael Richards). When Charlie arrives in Paradise Bluff, he is unexpectedly greeted by Richard, who is determined to show his friend a great time prior to his wedding. During the celebration, Charlie is knocked out in a bar fight. The next day — the day of the court appearance — Richard finds him in no shape to appear in court that day, so he impersonates Charlie. When the case unexpectedly goes to trial, the two must continue the charade, or they both will go to prison for perpetrating a fraud upon the court. The film co-stars Charlize Theron and Jessica Steen and features entertaining cameos by Austin Pendleton, Jennifer Coolidge, and Rip Torn. Will the film's reputation stand up to the hosts' scrutiny? Will it be found guilty of misrepresenting the legal profession? Join us at the bar and find out! If you've been a Stargate fan for more than five minutes, you've seen the question asked in online forums: What happened to Jessica Steen as "Elizabeth Weir?" The list of roles in Stargate that were credited to more than one actor is small, and fans always think they've read the right answer. Jessica joins us in this very special episode of Dial the Gate to dispel rumors and set the record straight from her point of view. We are fortunate to get the time with the actor to discuss her pivotal performance in not only SG-1, but her personal background, her time on the ongoing Canadian series "Heartland", as well as "Armageddon," "Captain Power" and many more. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
