#loki In the season 1 finale, Loki and Sylvie's journey leads them to the one in charge of the timelines, but their confrontation doesn't go quite as planned when they are offered a unique proposition. Mobius and Hunter B-15 set things into motion to bring down the TVA, revealing more of Judge Renslayer's secrets. Loki and Sylvie are forced to make an impossible choice. This episode was originally recorded on July 14, 2021. EDITOR'S NOTE: #fromthearchives Two years ago, in the midst of covering the Disney+ series Loki, we encountered some technical issues with our recording for episodes 5 and 6. Frustrated, we put them on the back burner to edit "later", and as we covered more shows and movies, they kept getting pushed further back...until now. Now - just before the season 2 premiere - we have finally defeated the bad tech and our finale episode is ready to be heard! :) Hope you enjoy! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/fandomhybridpodcast/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/fandomhybridpodcast/support

This week on Good Bye To All That, Michael T. Ford III is joined by Corey Pruitt aka TASK, Comic Twitter personality and co-host of the SuperSuit Show podcast, to discuss the MCU's latest series on Disney Plus, LOKI, starring Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as the titular character, picking up from his escape with the Tesseract during the events of AVENGERS: ENDGAME. Show Topics discussed include: - How LOKI differed from the two event series that preceded it, and how knowing it was getting a second season affected the way the narrative was constructed. - The way the show benefited from tempered expectations to both raise the stakes for the rest of the MCU meta narrative and unleash a new Big Bad. - What the unleashed MCU Multiverse could mean for the rest of Phase 4 and beyond. - The role of Jonathan Majors' He Who Remains in the season 1 climax, and what we'd like to see from other Kang variants. - Whether the TVA worked overall, and what we think TVA 2.0 will get up to in S2. - Judge Renslayer, her overall effectiveness as both a character and an antagonist, and what we'd like to see from her in S2. - Richard E. Grant's performance as Classic Loki, and how his single episode arc in the penultimate episode was Emmy-worthy. - Sylvie's arc, and how it resonated for viewers who themselves experienced childhood trauma. On this episode of the FHP, we discuss the third episode of the Disney + series, Loki. Having followed the Loki variant through a portal, Loki finds himself back at the TVA as the variant tries to locate the Time Keepers. Using a TemPad to escape Judge Renslayer's attempts to prune them, the Lokis find themselves on planet Lamentis, whose destruction is imminent, judging by the planet that is on a slow collision course. Loki and the variant - who goes by the name Sylvie - learn a little about each other as they attempt to find a way to get off of the planet before it is destroyed. However, things don't quite go the way they planned, and even as Loki picks up a few new magic tricks, it seems to be not enough to save them. Oh, and Sylvie also divulges to Loki that the TVA is made up of variants that were stolen from the Sacred Timeline. Oops. The Catholic Nerds dive into the chaos of the "Motu Inapproprio", Pope Francis' new instruction on the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) and its possible effects. Pope Benedict XVI had given priests the option to celebrate the Latin Mass or Extraordinary Form (EF) of the Mass. Now, priests need their bishop's permission, even if it's an EF-hating bishop. Is Pope Francis attempting to foster unity by sowing division? Does that work? Then, to turn their minds to happier, more gentle territory, the C-Nerds delve into the [SPOILERS] multiverse of madness from awakened by Loki Season One. What's your favorite moment from Loki Season 1? We decide on our favorite Loki - is it Richard Grant's "Classic Loki", Croc Loki or "Croki", "President Loki", Loki Prime, or Sylvie Loki? We discuss Owen Wilson's Mobius and how time is described as a "Mobius strip" ... like Iron Man realized in Avengers: Endgame. Did you notice all the crazy Easter Eggs in the intro to Loki Episode 6? There's a zoom out like in the sci-fi movie Contact; black holes expanding and contracting cycle (even though Stephen Hawking's Big Crunch theory is widely panned now); Neil Armstrong, Greta Thurnberg (why??), Maya Angelou, and a random spaceship? Is it the X-Men's ship or the Fantastic Four's? And then that lovely quote from Vision: “What is grief, if not love persevering?” To the comics! The C-Nerds compare Renslayer and He Who Remains to their comic equivalents, Ravonna Renslayer and Kang the Conqueror, respectively. Episode 6 shows us that Judge Renslayer was originally the principal of FDR high school in Ohio where her diploma reads “Rebecca Tourminet”, possibly a reference to her comic equivalent "Terminatrix". In the comics, Ravonna Renslayer was the daughter of King Carelius, a ruler in the 40th century Earth. The kingdom of Carelius was the last bastion of civilization unconquered by Kang the Conqueror in that time period. Also, where does Renslayer go when she leaves Mobius? Who is He Who Remains? Is he Kang the Conqueror? How about that apple He Who Remains was eating? Is this a reference to Genesis and Eden? Is He Who Remains the serpent or the dragon, tempting the new Adam and Eve of Time, Loki and Sylvie? Here's more on the serpent of Eden actually being a dragon. And what about the question of Free Will? The Catholic Nerds dive into all these theological nuggets! Do you want to bedeck yourself in your #1 galactic source for quality Catholic nerdery? Always" Synopsis Head Writer: Michael Waldron Episode Written by: Tom Kauffman Episode Directed By: Kate Herron After taking control of the guardian Alioth, Sylvie and Loki arrive at The Citadel at the Edge of Time. The creator of the Time Variance Authority resides inside. But they are greeted by a very cheery Miss Minutes. Her true boss “He Who Remains” is willing to give Loki and Sylvie everything they desire, from Victory at the battle of New York and the Infinity Gauntlet for Loki, to a life filled with happy memories for Sylvie. They can both even live in the same timeline. All they have to do is listen to him. Meanwhile back at the TVA while Mobius and Hunter B-15 reveal the truth to the other minutemen, Judge Renslayer has been given instructions from He Who Remains and she escapes through a time portal to find the one who has “Free Will”He Who Remains invites Loki and Sylvie to talk, but Sylvie tries to kill him at every opportunity. He is able to dodge every attack and explains that he knows everything that will happen in their meeting. He Who Remains informs them that he discovered a way to connect with other universes and the many variants of him. These variants tried to work together to solve the world's issues, but the good versions of him also existed along with the many bad versions of him. The evil versions tried to exploit their connections and knowledge to Conquer the multiverse; and so began the Multiversal War. Realising this war would destroy everything, He Who Remains, weaponised Alioth and established the efficient Time Variance Authority and its bureaucracy to remove all timelines that led to the Multiversal War. Leaving him alone in the Citadel at the edge of time. But he's tired. He offers Sylvie and Loki the opportunity to continue his work to preserve the Multiversal harmony or they can plunge the universes into catastrophe and chaos if they choose to end him. Loki seems willing to accept the offer of He Who Remains but Sylvie kisses him and sends him through a time portal. Finally Sylvie achieves her revenge, kills the founder and awaits the arrival of thousands of his variants and the Multiversal War.As Loki returns to the TVA he soon realises that no one knows who he is, both B-15 and Mobius are confused about who he is and this TVA has someone else very much in charge. After being pruned by Ravonna Renslayer, Loki is transported to The Void at the end of time. There he meets four other variants of himself: Classic Loki, Kid Loki, Boastful Loki, and Alligator Loki. They explain that The Void is where the TVA dumps entire pruned timelines, and there is no escape. They are trapped there by a monster called Alioth who feeds on the pruned realities. Meanwhile, Sylvie tries to get answers out of Judge Renslayer, who is in cahoots with Miss Minutes to stop Sylvie. Trapped in the courtroom by hunters and convinced there's something beyond The Void, Sylvie prunes herself. In The Void, she is picked up by Mobius.    Loki struggles to enlist the other Lokis to help him defeat Alioth and get back to the TVA to help Sylvie. But after a debacle with President Loki & other variants, Classic Loki and Kid Loki agree to help. Eventually, they meet up with Mobius and Sylvie, who determines that enchanting Alioth is the best way to get past the monster and into whatever is beyond The Void. With the unexpected help of Classic Loki, and empowered by their new bond and growth, Loki and Sylvie successfully enchant Alioth, giving them a clear path to a fortress that lies beyond The Void. Mobius uses the TemPad to go back to the TVA and deal with the enigmatic Judge Renslayer, who has Hunter B15 locked away.    Loki is Marvel's third Disney+ show, continuing Phase 4 of the MCU. Loki stars Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Sophia DiMartino, and Richard E. Grant.    Ocho Duro Parlay Hour on Twitter    Pod Feed     Level 7 Access Pod on Twitter    Website     For more details on the film/TV references that spill out of Kris's (and occasionally Amy's) brain, as well as links to other podcasts, visit the episode page on our website: Episode page link Email us at themarvelousmadames@gmail.com Follow us on Twitter  Instagram  Tumblr

Judge Renslayer is just about to “reset” a guilty Loki, but the God of Mischief is saved by Agent Mobius, an investigator who hunts particularly dangerous variants. Mobius interrogates Loki in an effort to break through his emotional defenses, showing Loki his future and the consequences of his actions. Loki briefly escapes, only to realize the futility of it and, in the process, his own insignificance and powerlessness in the universe. Mobius then offers Loki a proposition. He wants Loki to help the TVA hunt down a fugitive variant that has been killing teams of TVA Minutemen, because the variant is Loki himself.    Loki is Marvel's third Disney+ show, continuing Phase 4 of the MCU. Loki stars Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Sophia DiMartino, and Richard E. Grant.    For more details on the film/TV references that spill out of Kris's (and occasionally Amy's) brain, as well as links to other podcasts, visit the episode page on our website: Episode page link Email us at themarvelousmadames@gmail.com Follow us on Twitter  Instagram  Tumblr
