There's arguably no superhero in existence that has been reimagined, redefined, or reinterpreted more than Batman. No matter how many times he's been rebooted, audiences are always willing to come back to Gotham City's greatest defender. With so much Bat content out there, there's plenty to dissect, analyze, and of course, rank! This podcast is dedicated to a surgical evaluation of Batman's history, with a focus on ranking several topics in the world of Batman, among other classic Bat themes and characters.Join hosts Daniel Cohen, Pop Break's former Film Editor, and Kris Ingersoll, co-host of the Media/Lit podcast, as they bring on several guests every month to share their passion for the one and only Dark Knight. From Adam West to Robert Pattinson, no bat stone will be left unturned. Bottom-line: If you're a Batman fan, this is required listening. It's time to break out the crystals this month for a SUPERMAN BY THE NUMBERS podcast! That's right, pack your parkas, because we're going to the Fortress of Solitude. As we all know, DC's other big superhero has a big movie coming out this summer. As this is the year of World's Finest, it's time to ramp up our coverage, and what better way to do our first ever Superman centric episode then by ranking the actors who have played the iconic Man of Steel. With Superman, we couldn't relegate this to just film. While Superman has some big movies for sure, his presence in live action television is just as prevalent, as these shows span multiple decades, and cover different periods of Kal-El's life. Don't worry – all the big TV appearances are covered! From the 1950s, to this decade, and all across film and television, this is the Superman rankings you need to hear!Making their return for this epic ranking episode is the co-host of the Anniversary Brothers Podcast and Anime X Pop, Josh Sarnecky, and podcasting director of the pop break, Alex Marcus. And per usual, Alex has his obligatory General Zod moment against Dan. Find out which ranking got Dan's blood boiling this time. If you're a Superman fan, this is a spectacular trip down memory lane, and all divisive Superman takes are spiritedly debated, including what is one of the most epic ranking ties in the history of this podcast. You'll have to listen to find out why!

Aaron Sarnecky is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Better Call Saul, but his brother is conspicuously absent. Filling in for Josh is Alex Marcus, Podcast Director of The Pop Break. Alex previously discussed Breaking Bad with Aaron. Better Call Saul is a legal crime drama created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. It is a spinoff of Breaking Bad. It premiered on AMC on February 8, 2015. The show ran for six seasons and a total of 63 episodes. It ended on August 15, 2022. The show had a short-lived animated prequel on AMC+, entitled Slippin' Jimmy. The series chronicles the evolution of small-time attorney Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) into the morally corrupt lawyer Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad. It also reveals Saul's future living under an assumed name. Other returning characters include his eventual fixer Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) and drug distributor Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito). New characters include Jimmy's romantic interest Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn), his brother Chuck (Michael McKean), Chuck's legal partner Howard Hamlin (Patrick Fabian), drug dealer Nacho Varga (Michael Mando), and cartel leader Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton). Like Breaking Bad, many critics consider Better Call Saul one of the greatest television shows of all time. Some even hail it as better. It was nominated for 53 Emmy Awards with no wins (a record for nominations without a win). Nominations included Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Aaron and Alex chat about their exposure to Better Call Saul before going into the two-night series premiere, the general plot, the performances, the connections to Breaking Bad, and the series finale. They also ponder the potential for another show set in the Breaking Bad universe. For a podcast on another prestigious TV series, you can listen to Aaron and Josh talk about Game of Thrones. Welcome to “Not Couple Goals” where co-hosts Allie Nelson and Tyler McCarthy do a deep dive into a different ridiculous romantic thriller from the vantage point of their long-term relationship. Allie, a writer/producer and actress, has an affinity for romantic thrillers, the more salacious the better. Tyler, an entertainment reporter and critic, often finds himself drawn in despite his better judgment. Join them as they explore all the ways it's possible to love too hard… like WAY too hard. In this episode, Allie and Tyler do their part to encourage a ‘Fredaissance' after seeing the romantic thriller “The Girl in the Pool.” Listen as one of the hosts delves into her longstanding and now re-invigorated crush on star Freddie Prinze Jr., they both marvel at their enjoyment of “the funniest movie we've done on this podcast,” and it all culminates in a desperate plea for attention from Sarah Michelle Gellar (please?). What does any of this have to do with pools? Tune in to find out! Special thanks to Mallory Johns for the introduction music. Welcome to TV Break, where Pop Break's Podcasts Editor Alex Marcus is joined by editor-in-chief Bill Bodkin, and TV Columnist Josh Sarnecky to talk about the happenings in television. Here's the format of the show: The Best Thing I Saw on TV Last Month – Alex, Bill, & Josh talk about a show/episode/event they liked from the last month including Max's The Pitt, Disney Plus's Skeleton Crew, and AppleTV Plus's Severance, and Hulu's Paradise. Newsbreak – This month, they discuss a recent Variety feature by Adam B. Vary detailing Netflix's ambitious plans for 2025 and their self proclaimed standing as the perpetual underdog, despite also hitting major milestones including 300M subscribers and nearly $1,000 a share on their stock price. Streaming Wars – Alex, Bill, & Josh pick a streamer they think “won the month” based on new shows airing/upcoming shows announced etc. Bill and Josh agree that AppleTV Plus reigns supreme thanks to the cultural juggernaut that has been Severance S2. Meanwhile, Alex gives Mubi its flowers, after its films earned six Academy Award nominations, including for their breakout hit film The Substance, starring Academy Award front runner Demi Moore. New Series Spotlight – This month, the guys pay off their Emmy bet, with Alex forcing Josh and Bill to watch one of his favorite series from the past decade, Better Things, starring Pamala Adlon and Academy Award nominee Mikey Madison. Specifically, the guys watched S5E6 San Francisco, wherein we follow Adlon's Sam as she takes a gig director an episode of a network sitcom, which shoots in San Francisco, forcing Sam's oldest daughter Max, played by Academy Award Nominee Mickey Madison (who you may know from Anora, Scream 5, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), to step up and take care of her thirteen year old sister Duke while Duke's friend Pepper is staying with them for a visit. This episode guest stars Ron Cephas Jones and Lena Waithe and aired back in 2022.
Hello and welcome to Bill vs the MCU! Each month your hosts Pop Break Podcasting Director Alex Marcus and Pop Break Editor in Chief Bill Bodkin are taking another step into the wider Marvel Multiverse as the MCU dives deeper into their Multiverse Saga. Bill & Alex spent all of 2022 rewatching the first four phases of the MCU, and, in the years since, they have covered all of Netflix's The Defenders Saga, the first four seasons of ABC's Agents of SHIELD, and all 14 films in Fox's X-Verse. Now they are back doing what they do best, making sense of Phase V of the MCU! First, Bill & Alex speculate about that asterisks in Thunderbolts* and wonder how the film might be able to wrap up the messy peaks and valleys of Phase V. After that, stick around for an in depth discussion of how Marvel's Echo fared upon rewatch and whether those twisty turns of Agatha All Along play as well after the big secrets have been revealed. Come back next month for their grand finale to our 2024 coverage, with our third annual Fiege Awards, and start prepping for their new season, Marvel's Zombie Era: Part 1, which will feature reviews of 2003's Hulk (available on VOD), 2003's Daredevil (available on Disney Plus), and 2005's Elektra (available on MAX), which kicks off this March!
