Kristian Harloff breaks down the biggest movie news stories of the day, including the huge global box office debut for Michael, the latest on Daredevil: Born Again and its ratings struggles, a disappointing delay for Rush Hour 4, and major updates in the John Wick universe with Caine officially beginning production and new details on John Wick 5. If you're looking for the latest movie news, box office analysis, franchise updates, and industry breakdowns, today's Kristian Harloff Show has you covered. First, Kristian reacts to Michael opening to a massive $217 million worldwide, giving the Michael Jackson biopic one of the strongest debuts of the year. Is Michael already on its way to becoming one of the biggest music biopics ever? Kristian breaks down what the box office numbers mean for Jaafar Jackson, Antoine Fuqua, and the future of musical biopics in Hollywood. Next, Daredevil: Born Again is making headlines for the wrong reasons. Despite major anticipation from Marvel fans, new reports suggest Daredevil: Born Again has not delivered the ratings Marvel Studios may have hoped for. Kristian discusses what this could mean for Charlie Cox, the future of Daredevil in the MCU, and whether Marvel's Disney+ strategy is starting to show real cracks. Kristian also covers the latest on Rush Hour 4, as the long-awaited sequel has reportedly hit another major delay. With both Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker aging out of the demanding action-comedy franchise, is Rush Hour 4 still realistic? Kristian discusses whether the sequel can still happen and if the moment has already passed for one of the most beloved buddy-cop franchises ever. Finally, the John Wick universe keeps expanding. Caine, the Donnie Yen-led John Wick spinoff, has officially started filming, while new reports reveal that the idea for John Wick 5 is already in motion. Kristian breaks down what this means for Donnie Yen's future in the franchise, whether Keanu Reeves could return, and how far Lionsgate can realistically push the John Wick universe. Dune vs. Doomsday This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl dig into the Dune vs. Doomsday box office standoff, review Monarch Season 2 Episode 5, Invincible Season 4 Episode 5, and break down the first three episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 WB vs. Disney (Dune x Avengers): 5:04 Monarch: 14:37 Invincible: 26:33 Daredevil Born Again: 36:37 Dunesday 2026 For the movie-date standoff, the official release date for both Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday is still December 18, 2026. Warner's Dune: Part Three is positioned for IMAX, while Marvel's own official page still lists Avengers: Doomsday on December 18 as well. There is current reporting that Marvel may be considering a move, but that appears to be rumor/reporting territory, not official confirmation yet. Based on the IMAX angle alone, my best bet is Marvel/Disney moves first, not WB. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (Apple TV) Season 2, Episode 5 Title: Furusato Air date: March 27, 2026 Director: Jeff F. King Writer: Andrew Colville Summary: In 2017, Hiroshi clashes with Keiko and Shaw after learning about their affair. Brenda, May, and Trissop lead an Apex team to Santa Soledad, while Cate, Kentaro, Hiroshi, Keiko, and Shaw pursue them and take shelter in the abandoned Monarch Outpost 27. Hiroshi and Keiko reconcile, Tim redirects Outpost 18 toward the island, Titan X appears, and Shaw realizes Apex may want to weaponize Titans rather than pacify them. Titan X's arrival stirs up the island's Scarabs, injures Shaw, and seems to exert a strange pull on Cate as it emerges. Out of 5 I can’t Believe Cate Got Her Dad Killed, She Really is the Worst Brian: 3.38/5 Darryl: 2.8/5 Invincible (Amazon Prime) Season 4, Episode 5 Title: Give Us a Moment Air date: April 1, 2026 Director: Sol Choi Writer: Adria Lang Summary: Allen and Nolan lay out the stakes to Mark and Eve, and Mark reluctantly agrees to join the Coalition's war against the Viltrumites. Nolan tries to make amends with Debbie, Allen recruits Tech Jacket, and Oliver insists on coming along. After saying goodbye, Mark and the group depart for Talescria, only to be ambushed by a Viltrumite ship led by Conquest, Lucan, and Kradd. The fight turns brutal, ending with Mark killing Conquest, while Thaedus decides the time has come for open war against the Viltrumites. Rating Out of 5 You’ve Got to be Fucking Kidding Me After Last Week Brian: 3/5 Darryl: 3/5 Darevdevil: Born Again (Disney+) Season 2, Episode 1 Title: The Northern Star Air date: March 24, 2026 Directors: Aaron Moorhead & Justin Benson Writer: Dario Scardapane Summary: Matt Murdock, back as Daredevil, infiltrates the Northern Star, a cargo ship moving military-grade weapons tied to Fisk's Red Hook operation. CIA operative Mr. Charles works to protect Fisk's anti-vigilante agenda, while Matt and Karen quietly work against him. Heather Glenn is drawn into Fisk's orbit, Cherry is attacked, and Matt is ultimately unmasked by AVTF officers before Dex intervenes. Season 2, Episode 2 Title: Shoot the Moon Air date: March 31, 2026 Directors: Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead Writer: Dario Scardapane Summary: Cherry escapes the hospital before the AVTF can reach him, while Fisk puts out a missing-person warrant for Matt, making it dangerous for him to operate in either identity. Angela seeks help through Kirsten McDuffie and retrieves Hector Ayala's amulet, BB escalates her anti-Fisk smear campaign, Vanessa grows increasingly uneasy about Dex, and Matt and Karen are attacked at Josie's, where Karen reveals she has taken one of the officers hostage. Season 2, Episode 3 Title: The Scales & the Sword Air date: March 31, 2026 Director: Solvan “Slick” Naim Writer: Heather Bellson Summary: The captive officer gives Matt and Karen access to Red Hook, and they leak a charter that could strip Fisk's authority there. McDuffie learns Fisk had framed Duquesne after he refused to support the Red Hook project, but the courts still convict him. Daredevil breaks into Red Hook expecting to destroy weapons and instead finds Fisk's prison holding political enemies, leading to a prison break with help from Duquesne, Karen, and Angela, while Fisk escalates public fear by having the AVTF kill the Northern Star night crew. We'll take a close look at the portrait sculpt, suit texture, articulation, accessories, and how this version compares to previous Hot Toys Daredevil releases. Skywalking Through Neverland: A Star Wars / Disney Fan Podcast
On this daring episode, we break down DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2, starting with a quick refresher on Season 1—because let's face it, these Marvel Disney+ shows can be dense. We revisit where the key characters left off and where they stand as this new season begins. From there, we share a spoiler-free review of the full season, focusing on the character dynamics that drive the story—from Matt and Karen's renewed partnership to the unsettling relationships within Fisk's inner circle. We dig into Buck's influence over the young and impressionable Daniel, and the tension Bullseye brings into the mix. There are some surprising parallels to Star Wars, so listen in for those nuggets! This season leans heavily into moral complexity, challenging both its characters and the audience with questions about loyalty, power, and whether the ends can ever justify the means. We also cover the structure, performances, and standout moments, and even connect the dots to SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY. This week, Brandon and Gabby finish up Wonderman. They talk about the final 4 episodes, how they liked the show as a whole, they breakdown the bigger parts of the episodes, they talk about how Brandon didn't like Simon for the majority of show and how that changed, they talk about how Mutants could be brought into the MCU, and they rank the show among the other Marvel Disney+ shows
Marvel dives headfirst into Hollywood with Wonder Man, and the first four episodes give us a strange, funny, and surprisingly emotional story about fame, failure, and superpowers. We follow struggling actor Simon Williams as his life falls apart just as he begins discovering dangerous new abilities. Alongside Trevor Slattery's return and the Department of Damage Control monitoring Simon's growing powers, the series blends satire of the entertainment industry with classic Marvel storytelling. Meanwhile, the rise and fall of Doorman adds another unpredictable layer to this chaotic world of celebrity superheroes. In this episode, we break down the biggest moments from Episodes 1–4, discuss standout performances, and talk about how Wonder Man is shaping up compared to other Marvel Disney+ shows.
This week the Regular Joes talk TV. Which may not seem all that unusual, but it has been a while since they did a rundown of all the new and returning series in the pipeline for the coming months. And there is a lot of them. From returning favorites like The Boys, For All Mankind and Daredevil: Born Again, to intriguing new offerings like Lanterns, Young Sherlock, and Wonder Man. Speaking of Wonder Man, there is also a brief, mostly spoiler free, discussion of this unconventional new Marvel/Disney+ series which Dave somehow only managed to watch two episodes of. What's with that? The man can knock out three Disney parks in a day, and he can't commit to four hours of a TV series? There's also the usual Random Topics at a round of What's in the Box. The SuperHero Homies! Podcast returns with a packed episode featuring a full spoiler review of Marvel Studios' Wonder Man TV series, plus a major conversation about the future of fantasy adaptations in Hollywood. We kick things off with a cold open breaking down the groundbreaking deal between Brandon Sanderson and Apple, and what it could mean for the live action Cosmere universe. We discuss potential Mistborn movies, a Stormlight Archive TV series, fan casting ideas, Sanderson's creative control over his IP, and why this partnership has fantasy and sci-fi fans excited. For our main discussion, we dive deep into Wonder Man, Marvel's latest Disney+ series. Instead of following a traditional superhero formula, Wonder Man leans into a character study and buddy comedy, focusing on tone, relationships, and self-discovery rather than massive world-ending stakes. We discuss why many viewers seem to love the show, including one of the hosts, while also examining where it falls short. One of us thinks the series feels low stakes and meandering at times, while both of us agree that Wonder Man still represents a refreshing creative swing for the MCU. If you enjoy MCU TV reviews, Marvel Disney+ discussions, comic book adaptations, superhero podcasts, and pop culture breakdowns, this episode is for you. In today's Daily Fix:James Gunn recently admitted he wanted to add a Deadpool cameo in Peacemaker's Season 2 finale. Ryan Reynolds was apparently on board, but Gunn knew getting the okay from both Warner Bros. and Marvel/Disney would've been too big of a legal hurdle. Gunn has big plans for Peacemaker outside of his HBO show, with the DCU expanding next year with Supergirl, the Lanterns series, and the Clayface film. In other news, Warner Bros. has set a date for the Minecraft movie sequel. It's expected in July of 2027, and director Jared Hess is expected to return along with most of the cast. And finally, join the stars of the live-action How to Train Your Dragon as they explore the new Isle of Berk in Universal Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort.Presented by Universal Orlando Resort and its new theme park, Universal Epic Universe.
Episode 57 - SPOILER Review: Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025)Just when it was starting to look pretty bleak for comic movies (over saturation, becoming extremely dark, forgettable stories, visual effects suffering from unsustainable output stretching visual FX artists too thin), it looks like studios are getting the message. First "Superman" from DC/Warner Brothers and now for today's episode we see how Marvel/Disney with "Fantastic Four: First Steps" has done an about face and put a "fantastic" crowd-pleaser of movie to die-hard comic-fans and popcorn moviegoers alike. For today's episode our friend of the podcast, Ali-Reza Beheshti, returns and we both get into how this movie completely surprised us. A beautifully shot, wonderfully paced, thrill ride of a movie. There was a part that was a little bit of a "stretch" but the movie still was so much fun that you can almost completely let this detail go. Almost. Michael Giacchino returns as Marvel's go-to Composer but here he really crafts something epic and unique on par with John Williams music from classics such as Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park. This one must be seen in the theaters. It will make you a believer in comic-book movies again. There is still life in this category of movies. Here is to hoping the studios continue to space these movies out enough to keep the creativity, anticipation, and quality going!"Fantastic Four: First Steps" is playing in theaters now. We've got more episodes, reviews, and recommendations coming your way. If you're enjoying the show, please leave a review, it really helps the podcast. Thanks for listening, and enjoy the movie.

PAX East 2025 merch hauls, a wild Pope conspiracy, Marvel show rankings, and parenting chaos—welcome back to Slightly Biased. Grayson recaps his whirlwind (and wallet-draining) trip to PAX East 2025, featuring exclusive Dropout.tv panels, Jonathan Coulton performances, and $800+ in gamer merch he definitely doesn't regret. Meanwhile, Vinny's in a battle against rogue sprinklers, suspicious neighbors, and suburban lawn drama. Things get theological as the guys dive into Conclave, a twisty Vatican thriller film that sparks big questions. From Catholic Church history and the idea of a “Woke Pope,” to the vape-powered clergy of the future, no papal stone is left unturned. They also debate knife vs. pepper spray while hiking, explore the strange world of 3D printing horror props (shoutout Dead by Daylight), and rank every major Marvel Disney+ show—including WandaVision, Loki, Moon Knight, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and She-Hulk. And yes, there's parenting too—featuring snack-throwing babies, mushy veggies, and the art of teaching toddlers to survive jump scares. What's Inside: • $800+ in PAX East merch: regrets? None. • Dropout.tv panels, Jonathan Coulton, and OmegaThon madness • Conclave movie twist discussion • “Woke Pope” and modern Catholic commentary • Sprinkler therapy and lawn care hot takes • The Smash Mouth Renaissance • Marvel show rankings: hits, flops, and why She-Hulk divides us • AI tools vs. real learning: ChatGPT in the classroom • Rollerblading injuries and 90s nostalgia • Parenting updates: snacks, sleep, and survival skills Recorded 5/12/2025 Follow us on Twitter and Instagram @slightlybiased_ Visit slightlybiasedpodcast.com for more hot takes, bad ideas, and philosophical breakdowns of sprinkler systems. Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of May 2, 2025. Summer movie season unofficially gets underway this week with the release of "Thunderbolts*" from Marvel/Disney. If you like the characters or you just like Marvel movies, you'll probably enjoy this. Another movie, this time on Amazon Prime Video, is "Another Simple Favor" from Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, and director Paul Feig. Hint, this sequel to the crime comedy ‘A Simple Favor' is goofy fun. And on Netflix, there is a comedy series called "The Four Seasons" from Steve Carell, Tina Fey, and Colman Domingo that's a remake of an old Alan Alda movie, but highly enjoyable for the more (ahem) mature viewer. The brains behind Fan Effect are connoisseurs of categories surpassing nerdy with a goal to publish a weekly "What to Watch on the Weekend" minisode taken from KSL-TV's Friday segment, and two deep-dives a month on shows, creative works, artists, local events, and other fandom topics. Based in the beautiful beehive state, Fan Effect celebrates Utah's unique fan culture as it has been declared The Nerdiest State in America by TIME, and is hosted by KSL Movie Show's Andy Farnsworth and KSL Podcasts' KellieAnn Halvorsen. Listen regularly on your favorite platform, at kslnewsradio.com, or on the KSLNewsRadio App. Join the conversation on Facebook @FanEffectShow, or Instagram @FanEffectShow. Fan Effect is sponsored by Megaplex Theatres, Utah's premier movie entertainment company.

CinemaCon 2025 is officially in the books, and we've got a ton to break down on today's Kristian Harloff Show! We kick things off with a full breakdown of the extended sneak peek at James Gunn's “Superman”—including first impressions, character reveals, and why this might just be DC's big comeback moment. Then we dive into Disney's CinemaCon presentation, which offered new looks at “Avatar 3: Fire & Ash,” “Zootopia 2,” and even early footage from “Lilo & Stitch,” “Freaky Friday,” and the new Benedict Cumberbatch/Olivia Colman comedy “The Roses.” But perhaps the biggest update? The live-action “Tangled” remake has stalled indefinitely. We discuss why Disney might be rethinking its remake strategy. Marvel also made waves at CinemaCon, with Kevin Feige teasing “Avengers: Doomsday,” “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” and a wild reveal of Julia Garner as Silver Surfer. Plus, we got a few more details about “Thunderbolts” and what's going on with Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes. Not to be outdone, Paramount dropped updates on “Mission: Impossible 8,” a “Running Man” reboot, and more big projects on the way. Whether you're hyped for DC's next big thing or wondering where Disney's headed next, we've got you covered. In speaking with my two guests, they shared stories of the three generations of writers in the family including, Irene's mother, Wilma, followed by my guest, Irene and her son Brendan. Brendan is an award winning graphic novel/picture book author and acquiring editor at Blackstone Publishing where he also runs the TV and Film Division even made notice of having his maternal grandmothers published books on his desk. Brendan shares that he was always supported and encouraged by his family with his passion for comic books which he started writing and drawing caricatures at a young age.In time, Irene expressed "that the family was moving in a different direction and the divorce was almost inevitable." Irene continues, "I'm highly emotionally intelligent and I finally found my tribe. I found people who spoke my language." This all occurred once she went back to school for her Masters Degree in Counseling, and later on became a social worker. Brendan raves about his childhood as a latch key kid. He loved growing up in Connecticut. And now as a father, he appreciates even more what it takes for parents to raise their children. And now he's learned even more about what his mother was going through raising the four Deneen children. Both Irene and Brendan claim to be emotionally intelligent-they are very good at listening to others, which Brendan feels that "not many people listen to one another these days." Brendan has always been there for his mom as a sounding board. Irene says " Brendan was my listening post." When she needed to talk, she call Brendan. They have a special bond for sure. They respect one another.Irene Deneen Murray: Irene Deneen Murray grew up in the 50's, an era when a woman could be a nurse, teacher or secretary. She chose teacher because it pleased her mother. In truth the first half of her life was devoted to taking care of or pleasing her mother. At age 50 having raised 4 kids in a Hollywood -worthy suburb, Irene became a divorcee and learned to love being more adventurous than she had previously ever imagined. By then she was working as a social worker having recently earned a Master's Degree in Counseling. Irene loves the natural world and has been a devoted hiker and later a biker, paddler and pretty consistently a practitioner of yoga. She continues these pastimes presently sometimes to the chagrin of her children since they may picture her falling off a cliff, rolling over in her kayak or some other catastrophe. Her children and grandchildren are her greatest achievement. She is a good observer and has insight galore but is sometimes amazed at how each of her children has developed so uniquely. Brendan Deneen is the author of the novelsThe Ninth Circle andThe Chrysalis, as well as the bestselling four-volume Night Night, Groot picture book series for Marvel/Disney. He's also the author of the middle-grade graphic novelGreen Arrow: Stranded for DC Comics; the novels Morbius: Blood Ties and Guardians of the Galaxy: Annihilation:Conquest from Marvel/Titan, and Alien: Uncivil War from 20th Century Studios/Titan. His other graphic novel work includes multiple volumes of Flash Gordon, an original Island of Misfit Toys book, and the original graphic novel Scatterbrain. In addition to his writing, Brendan has been working in the publishing and film/TV industries for twenty-five years, including development jobs with Scott Rudin Productions and Miramax, as well as editorial and book-to-film jobs with St. Martin's Press and Tor Books. He currently works at Blackstone Publishing, where he's an acquiring editor in addition to running the company's film/TV division, which he created, and where he has dozens of literary projects set up at movie studios, streamers, and networks. His short stories and essays have been published by St. Martin's Press, Reader's Digest Books, 13Thirty Press, and Necro Publications. Show notes provided by Joe PelusoOnce upon a time you had to go to the movies to see the trailers forupcoming films. Now all you gotta do is grab your favorite hand-helddevice and ask Google or Siri to call it up for you. And of course, there are those numerous reaction videos (Some longer than the filmsthey're reacting to.) With all that said, if you really want the scoopon Marvel/Disney's new Daredevil offering or James Gunn's new Superman film, all you have to do is join James and Joe (Your Mint Men ofMessaging) to deliver the low-down on what's hurtling your way fromthe vast genre-verse. In this current "back of the store chat", the boys run the gamutfrom" Supes" to "nuts" (Diamond Comic Distributors) as they review, report, and reconcile some the important issues of the day that aremaking the rounds in the pop culture universe. Will Spider-Man pop up in Daredevil Born Again? Will James Gunnstraighten out Kal-El's stigmatism in post-production? How will thefall of Diamond Comic Distributors affect your local LCS? Have youheard of Dogman, and why is it eating Marvel and DC's lunch? And hasJoe traded in his maniacal obsession for the inept Nets of the NBA fora lunatic lashing of the NFL? He might be off his meds again. You can't swing an Omnibus (and if you can, more power to you)without hitting a plethora of topics covered in this episode. As we'vestated once or twice before, bring a score when you come through theback door for this segment. If for no other reason, you might want toshow it to an NFL ref or umpire that you're watching them. Let it goJoe. MLB Spring Training has started!
