Es ist wieder Freitag, und wir blicken zurück auf die Shoptech-Woche. In diesen Tagen lief der Support von Magentos 1er-Version aus. Nun ist das bei Software allgemein ein nicht so spektakulärer Vorgang, denn üblicherweise gibt es ein besseres Nachfolgeprodukt sowie einen gut dokumentierten Upgrade-Mechanismus. Nicht so bei Magento. Der 2er-Strang ist eine qualitativ schlechtere, softwaregewordene technische und kommunikative Pannenserie, die mit Ach und Krach von Adobe im Markt gehalten wird. Zu allem Überfluss verliert die deutsche Magento-Community so wichtige Köpfe und Köpfinnen wie Rico Neitzel, Fabian Blechschmidt und Carmen Bremen, die jetzt klar erkennbar im Shopware-Universum angekommen sind und für das Unternehmen aus Schöppingen sogar im nächsten Jahr eine Unconference ausrichten. Natürlich bricht das ganze Magento-Business hierzulande nicht von jetzt auf gleich zusammen. Es werden weiterhin und sicherlich noch über viele Jahre ungezählte Personentage ver- und gekauft, um einzelne Projekte am Leben zu halten und Migrationen durchzuführen. Das Ökosystem ist weltweit too-big-to-fail-groß und Adobe wird sein teuer eingekauftes Asset nicht leichtfertig unter die Räder kommen lassen. Aber: Magento verliert hierzulande endgültig seine Funktion als Innovations- und Wachstumstreiber an Shopware und Shopify, wird enterprisiger und bräsiger und damit für Händler mehr zum Risiko als zur Chance. Sad!
