POPULARITY
Typically, Big Tech and software aren't manufacturing topics. The latest data products don't generally come out of a factory in a box or barrel. However, the rapid growth of AI is having a domino effect that's benefitting large manufacturers. AI needs lots of computing power, creating opportunities for semiconductor makers to boost U.S. production. Construction companies are building data center facilities all over the country, creating manufacturing opportunities for construction materials and equipment. Tightly packed computer servers generate lots of heat, creating opportunities for materials companies and hydraulics manufacturers that can cool data centers. And these data centers are super hungry for power. So, expect more gas-powered and renewable energy plants to be built in the near future (it's already happening but expect more). Makers of switchgear and grid-improvement systems also have full order books. Discussing this trend are four editors from Endeavor B2B: Robert Schoenberger, editor-in-chief of IndustryWeek Matt Vincent, editor-in-chief of Data Center Frontier John Caulfield, senior editor of Building Design + Construction James Morra, senior editor of Electronic Design

I lately find myself dwelling on not the existence of new technology, but on questions about how we humans should treat it. After all, nothing in our cultures or languages has evolved to accommodate, for one example, ASoLs. In the interest of discussing these geegaws and thingamajigs with someone who actually not only uses them, but doesn't actively hate them, I have a chat with KMO as we start the title of Episode 270: Pulling at Tightly Woven Threads. In the heart of Dorset lies a place where history and horror are tightly bound in stone — Dorchester Prison. Built in 1795, this grim institution stood for over two centuries, its walls witnessing the cries of the condemned, the despair of the forgotten, and the shadow of death itself. From the public hangings that drew crowds in the thousands to the chilling stories of restless spirits said to linger long after the last execution,Dorchester Prison is more than just a relic of the past.It is a place where England's justice system, in all its brutality, left its mark on countless lives. In this episode we step inside those heavy gates,to uncover tales of punishment, suffering, and the echoes that still haunt its crumbling corridors. Welcome… to the story of Dorchester Prison.
Every now and then, host Heather Bernt-Santy and the other nerds in the TECN group chat hit on hot issues that we wish early childhood folks didn't have to worry about. We decided to do a few episodes on these topics, calling it the Free the Teachers! series. In this episode, we talk about how stressful tightly controlled daily schedules are for adults and for children, and discuss some alternatives. Join Doug Bennett as he sits down with coach Gregory Russell Benedikt for a conversation about dreams versus goals. Gregory shares his journey from a 100-day rejection challenge, including asking strangers to jump in their pools, to landing a TEDx talk and meeting his girlfriend through bold action. This episode explores Gregory's perspective on holding goals loosely, his experience with goal apathy and his coaching approach where he becomes a "dream Sherpa," accompanying clients on their bucket list adventures. KEY TAKEAWAYS • A simple knock on a stranger's door asking to use their pool went viral and kick started an entire journey that led to Gregory's TEDx talk. • After years of hitting targets, Gregory discovered that achieving goals brought brief celebration but rarely the lasting fulfilment he expected. • The retreat Gregory has wanted to host for three years suddenly became possible when a community member offered her 40-acre Colorado ranch three days after he committed. • Gregory met his girlfriend by walking up to her in a crowded restaurant and handing her his name on a receipt after feeling an instant connection. • The dream sherpa concept emerged from Gregory wanting to do more than traditional coaching sessions. • Reading "Rejection Proof" twice sparked Gregory's 100-day challenge, proving that sometimes you have 10 seconds to act before putting the book back on the shelf. • Day 66 brought a complete breakdown where Gregory quit for a week, questioning why he was wasting time on ridiculous stranger interactions. BEST MOMENTS "It's moments like that, Doug, that just give me so much hope and excitement and awe and wonder." "We need to get started because if we're willing to take messy, imperfect action, you will learn the lessons you needed to learn." "Everything you need to know in order to achieve the goal, make the dream, become a reality. Everything you need to learn is learned through doing the thing. It's not learned before." "We've all got more time than we actually use. How, you know, check your phone. How long have you been on Facebook or, you know, screen time this week?” "I have a philosophy of yes. You know, if somebody asks me a question, it doesn't matter. Doug, would you like to, the answer's yes at that point." From Proverbs 4:1-9, we reflect on how the wise seek wisdom so as to be able to pass it on - this has particular relevance to parents who must seek God's wisdom in order to pass it on. Cummings and goings at the campBy LiminallySpaced. Listen to the Podcast at Explicit Novels. After what felt like an endless ride, we finally made it to our destination. The campsite was remote, but had easy access to a big, beautiful lake. Our group occupied two sections of a fairly sparsely-populated camping area. Down the path past the office and the general store, around a couple turns past the public bathrooms, we stopped and unloaded. Our youth pastor gave us a rundown of the amenities we could expect, and seemed to derive a certain amount of glee from how short the list was. Her husband just laughed and assured us it wasn't going to be nearly as bad as we thought. Our youth pastor Ginny and her husband Todd always came alive when we did outdoorsy stuff. There was always a certain extra pep in their step, as though there was a certain amount of freedom in getting so far away from society for a few days. Normally they were polite and proper as could be, but I couldn't help but notice that once we hit the woods their extremely chaste exterior cracked ever so slightly with an increase of winks, pinches, and the occasional clandestine ass smack. They were an attractive couple, and it was difficult not to notice that for Ginny especially, her change in attire, from conservative blouses and floor-length skirts to partially unbuttoned over shirts and leg-baring short shorts, seemed to signal some relief; an exhale of expression. Normally completely hidden from view, I could tell she was hiding nice breasts under her usual attire, and her legs were long and smooth.Watching her give her husband a smile and a swat on the behind as she passed by, I couldn't help but wonder what it looked like when they fucked. Ginny had been one of my early crushes, and I had always been extremely jealous of her husband. But now, I had learned multiple times over that a demure, church-going exterior was very possibly just a cover for a voracious sexual appetite, and I was dying to know if the same was true for Ginny. What her favorite position was. How nasty they got behind closed doors. What she sounded like when she orgasmed. Did she like sucking his dick? Did they roleplay? Did he like to cum on her face?Christine and I passed each other a few times while we unloaded the vans and began setting up the site, but few words were said. I found a shady spot at the edge of the tree line to stake my tent, and I couldn't help but notice that Christine chose hers about as far to the other side of the site as you could get. She was sharing the tent with a younger girl, which meant that even under the best of circumstances there'd be no hanky panky at her place.I, on the other hand, had a tent all to myself. The younger kid I was supposed to share with backed out at the last minute, and so, with an even number of tents for an odd number of people, I lucked out."Hey, Tim," I heard a voice call from behind me, and turned to see Rachel walking over with Devon. She smiled and waved, and approached with no hesitation. We used to converse fairly regularly, especially online, but ever since prom night we hadn't said much to each other. "How's it going?" Her casual tone seemed to be trying to ignore any awkwardness we might have had between us."Hey Rachel," I said as cordially as possible. I couldn't quite muster excitement, but produced enough forced enthusiasm as to not be rude. "It's good to see you!"It honestly wasn't a lie. Before the awkwardness I really did enjoy talking and hanging out with Rachel, and I had been crazy for those massive breasts of hers as soon as my burgeoning libido developed. And boy did she look good today. A totally different body type than Christine, she was generously thick in all the right places. Places that were testing the limits of what her clothing could handle. She wore straight-cut jeans that didn't accent features, but hung off her curvy hips in a way that was impossible to hide what was inside them. A thin button down blouse hung open off her shoulders, tied up beneath her bust, showing some stomach, and giving me a great look at the shirt she wore underneath; a shirt that stopped me in my tracks when I clocked it.Tightly hugging her midsection, and wrapped like a second skin around those glorious globes of hers was a green, spaghetti-strapped tank top; the same tank top she wore, hard-nippled and braless, in the pictures she sent the night she asked me to the prom. This couldn't be a coincidence, could it?"This is Devon," she said. He put his hand out and I shook it, and we made pleasant small talk, but I couldn't hope to tell you what either of us said, as my mind was totally on that green shirt doing its best to contain Rachel's tits."Where are you guys set up?" I finally said, coming back to earth."Well obviously we won't be staying in the same tent," she said with a playful chuckle that jiggled her breasts delightfully, "Devon's staying with Peter over that way," she said, pointing across the camp, "and I'm set up right over here." she turned and pointed back behind her.I followed her pointing fingers, the same fingers that had been wrapped around my cock only months ago, and once again felt like she was playing a trick on me. Maybe I shouldn't have read into it too much, like how many tents do people really own, but adding in the green shirt, I found it very significant that the tent she pointed to was the very tent she and I had spent our prom night encounter in."It's a pretty rad tent," Devon started, "really well made, and has a nice comfortable flooring on the inside.""Yeah I know," I said without thinking, "my, friend has one just like it."I looked at Rachel. She looked away, but I swear I saw the pale skin around her chest flush a knowing pink.Devon was then called away to help move something over by his tent, leaving me alone with Rachel."I'm surprised to see you here; I thought you hated camping?" I said as I went back to setting up."Well, you guys always made it sound so fun, and this being the last chance and all,” She trailed off slightly."Devon seems nice," I said, changing the subject, but definitely still probing, "are you guys going out?""I don't know what I'd call it," she said, idly fidgeting with the tie of her shirt, "but yeah, he is nice." There was a slight pause before she added "maybe a little Too nice."I chuckled. "How are the back rubs?" My gaze examined her for a reply"This is a nice spot you got here," she said, changing the subject, "very, secluded.""Yeah, it is," I responded, "and it's just me.""Just you?" she said, her interest piqued."Yeah, lucked out.""I'll say."There was an awkward pause. I tried to think of something else to say, something smart, something adult, something that would maybe get down to the bottom of what was going on here, but I couldn't focus. Couldn't stop thinking about those tits pressing out from behind that tight, green shirt.A wave from Devon caught her attention, and she used it as an excuse to bail from our awkward silence. She made a cordial exit, but then turned back for a moment with a question. "I think a bunch of us are going swimming later, are you going to go?" She asked in a tone no less awkward than the pause that preceded it."Yeah, probably, if I have all my stuff set up." The truth was, I wasn't that interested in swimming with a bunch of younger kids, I was focused on Christine, and figuring out what was going on with us. At least I had been, before Rachel's tits entered the equation."Maybe I'll see you down there."She bounced off, leaving me with a view from behind that was no less alluring than the one from the front. What a body. I knew this "good Christian girl" was as horny as anyone else at her age, and I wondered how much of that body Devon had gotten to enjoy. I wondered if she had jerked him off, or maybe even sucked his dick; if he had felt her slick, wet cunt, or maybe even tasted it; if he had gotten to fuck her two massive tits; if he had cum on them; if she thought it was gross. My cock twitched hard.Shaking the thoughts from my head, I scanned the camp, looking for Christine, but she was nowhere to be found. Disappointed, I went back to setting up my tent.Lunchtime came, and we all gathered around as Ginny, her husband, and the other couple of adult chaperones cooked up burgers and hot dogs, and other campsite favorites. There was no skimping, and the food was great, supplied by the parents who were no doubt happy to schlep their kids off to the middle of the woods for a couple of days.We lined up to get our food, and I ended up a few people behind Christine. We still hadn't talked at all, and I was hoping to use lunchtime to break the ice. I just needed to figure out what I was going to say. I watched her as she left the line, and rejoiced a little internally when she chose a place to sit that had open space around her.I quickly grabbed some food and followed after her. I hadn't been nervous around Christine hardly ever, but my stomach was in my throat as I crossed the distance toward her. Her head was down, so she didn't seem coming, but when she looked up at me with those big brown eyes and a lock of her long hair fell across her angelic face, she stopped me right in my tracks."Do you uh,” I stammered, taken aback by her beauty, “ do you mind if I join you?"She took a moment. I don't know if she was as nervous as I was, but finally she responded with "it's a free country."I sat, and we sat there both in silence. She shifted her potato salad around with her fork, idly, and I wracked my brain for something smart to say."Listen, I wanted to; " but before I could go any further, Rachel's bright, peppy voice came at me loudly from the side."Hey guys!" She and Devon came strolling over with full plates, and both plopped down in front of us on nearby chairs. "Not so hungry today, huh, Tim?" Rachel said with a chuckle, pointing toward my plate. Looking down, it was only then that I realized all I had grabbed from the lunch buffet was a hot dog roll and a fork."Don't wanna swim on a full stomach!" I joked back. After a polite chuckle, Rachel introduced Christine to Devon, and the four of us began chatting about fairly mundane, late teenage stuff; colleges, summer jobs, graduation. As conversations tend to do, Rachel and Christine began to pair off, leaving me to talk with Devon. He was a good guy with a dry sense of humor, and I honestly felt that if we had more time to spend together, we would be friends. He seemed a bit uncomfortable, but it was in a way I could sympathize with. It was the discomfort of being the only new person in the group, and it was the same feeling I had when I went to Rachel's prom. I wondered if she made a habit of bringing guys to events they were guaranteed to feel awkward at.I was happy to be his lifeline and make the trip easier, but truth be told I never expected to see him again after this weekend."Did you ask Tim? He's an artist, right Tim?" Rachel's voice snapped me back to whatever it was she and Christine were talking about."Huh?" I said, having no idea what Rachel was getting at."Christine was just saying she was having trouble picking out colors for her dorm room, and I thought she should ask you; you're a painter, right?"My stomach dropped and I started to feel my cheeks flush a bit. Staring back at Rachel, her expression gave no indication that she was toying with me, but there was no other possible way for me to interpret that. When Tara and I had run into Rachel at the cafe, Tara's quip about me painting her was dripping with entendre that I was sure none of us had missed, and Rachel's flirty follow up online shortly after confirmed it. But now, had she forgotten? Or was she just playing a game with me?My mouth moved, but couldn't come up with a response. Luckily at that moment I was saved by the announcement that we'd be heading down to the lake to go swimming shortly, setting off a clean up of all the lunch stuffs. Christine popped up quite quickly, and I lamented watching her leave, but then I turned my eyes back to Rachel, once again searching for what her angle was, and once again finding nothing.Devon and she began to get up, and as she turned away I could have sworn I saw her hard nipples pushing through her tight green shirt. It was nice to take a dip in the lake. It was going to be a hot weekend, and the cool water felt refreshing and helped clear my head. I waded around and played games with the other kids, managing to keep my thoughts off the two women currently fighting for real estate in my mind. One of these women was currently making it very difficult. Rachel and Devon had entered into a diving contest with one of the younger kids, which meant that every couple minutes or so I got to watch Rachel's fairly modest one-piece swimsuit do its best to contain her bouncing breasts as she made her dive approach. This was followed shortly after by her pulling herself up out of the water, back on to the dock, sending water cascading down her long hair and ramping in spurts and sprays off her considerable backside. It might just have been this wild conspiracy my mind was brewing, but I thought it quite a coincidence that she always made sure to pull herself up on the same side, in full view of me, should I want to look.More than once out of the corner of my eye I caught Ginny and Todd horsing around in a way I didn't expect from a youth minister and her husband. Maybe I was more attuned to it now that my sexual antennae were constantly at full mast, but I could swear they were flirting with each other. I couldn't blame them, especially Todd. He was a handsome guy, but not a supermodel by any means, and he had managed to land himself a gorgeous, playful wife. The way she bit her lip at him when she smiled told me what was on her mind, even if her words were about something else entirely.Taking a break, I sat in a nearby beach chair, and tried not to stare when Ginny dove into the water. She too wore a one piece bathing suit underneath khaki shorts that left her long, umber legs on full display. I tried not to stare, but couldn't help grabbing a glimpse from time to time, and more than once I caught Dean, one of the other chaperones, doing the same when his wife wasn't looking.Trying to focus on something more wholesome, my plans were dashed when Christine made her way down from the campsite. Long, smooth legs ascending up into deep blue bikini bottoms were the first thing I saw, followed by the thin, flowing button down she wore semi-buttoned on top of the matching bikini top that hugged her small breasts.I made a move to engage her as she made her way down, but she blew right past me and headed to the edge of the dock. The light caught her perfectly as she removed her overshirt, casting her tight body into gauzy shadow as it diffused through the thin fabric. That body. Jesus, I missed it. I missed seeing her ass rise up in a lewd heart shape behind her head as she leaned in to suck my cock. I missed feeling her hard nipples press into me when we kissed. I missed the way she writhed and shook when she orgasmed. I missed seeing her deep collarbones, and that sweet dip where they meet the neck, draped with my cum.I shifted in my seat as my cock surged with the thought, and I watched as Christine dove into the water and swam out to the floating dock; the furthest point away from me she could get."Everything ok with you two?" I heard a voice say from beside me. I was so caught up in Christine that I didn't even notice that Ginny had pulled herself up out of the lake and made her way over to the seat beside me."Yeah, it's fine," I lied with a weak smile."Well it's just that you guys are usually thick as thieves, but things seem kinda chilly so far this weekend." She watched me for a reaction, trying to read me. I was doing my best to give her nothing to grasp on to."It's nothing. College, stress,” I said, grasping, "it manifests itself in weird ways, you know?""Um Hmm" she responded, clearly humoring my attempt. "You know, it reminds me of a story," She began, a faraway smile pulling at her lips."Old Testament or New?" I joked."No, no, not that kind of story" She chuckled. "Back when I was your age, I had a, friend." Her pause was deliciously implicit coming from someone like her. "Things got chilly between us too, and my mom gave me some good advice; she said 'Gin, it's really easy to break someone's heart, if you don't know you're holding it."I suddenly felt something pull at the back of my throat, choking me up slightly."Not that that's relevant here," Ginny said, respecting my cover story, "I just thought it was good advice."She tapped my thigh lightly with her fist, and then got up to leave."What was his name?" I finally managed to get out. She stopped and turned back toward me."Todd."She smiled a knowing smile, and headed off, leaving me with her wisdom. That night, after an uneventful, yet delicious dinner, followed by some scary stories around the campfire that all seemed to have a rather biblical moral point at their center, we piled into our tents to sleep. But all I did was toss and turn.

Today we discuss the intersection of architecture and interior design, finding a common ground for both aspects to complement each other. Ian Mills and Becca Roderick, Executive Directors of Architecture and Interiors, respectively, at Morris Adjmi Architects. They delve into the concept of hospitality, the collaborative process within their firm, and how they align their visions to create contextually relevant and impactful projects. The conversation covers notable projects like the Wythe Hotel and The Forth, emphasizing how thoughtful design can redefine neighborhoods and meet client expectations. They also discuss the emergence of branded residences and the importance of client buy-in and strategic investment in design.Takeaways: Encourage regular collaboration and communication between the architecture and interior design teams to align on the project's North Star.Conduct thorough research on the location, history, and context of the project site to create designs that are both impactful and fitting with the surroundings.Prioritize elements that make guests feel cared for, regardless of the budget or exclusivity of the experience.Invest in high-quality design, as it can significantly enhance the financial performance of hospitality projects. Tightly manage budgets to ensure investments are spent judiciously and effectively.Be prepared for unexpected challenges, especially in adaptive reuse projects. Have mechanisms in place to manage and respond to these surprises.Keep clients informed and involved throughout the project's lifecycle to ensure continuous alignment and buy-in.Quote of the Show:“ We're bringing the same mentality and sort of rigor to every project because we think that every project can change the neighborhood that it's in.” - Ian Mills“ When you strip everything back and peel things away, hospitality is really about caring for people and fostering community.” - Becca RoderickLinks:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ian-mills-a77a1a19/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/becca-roderick-45405299/ Website: https://ma.com/ Shout Outs:0:48 - Four Seasons https://www.fourseasons.com/ 0:49 - St. Regis https://st-regis.marriott.com/ 0:54 - AvroKo https://www.avroko.com/ 0:55 - One Kings Lane https://www.onekingslane.com/ 9:09 - Wythe https://www.wythehotel.com/ 10:28 - The Goodtime https://www.thegoodtimehotel.com/ 10:43 - Forth Hotel https://forthatlanta.com/ 18:13 - Morris Adjmi https://www.linkedin.com/in/morris-adjmi-7295918/ 25:31 - The Founder's Dilemma 27:46 - Frank Gehry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Gehry 54:01 - Theory Building https://ma.com/theory-building.html 54:41 - 837 Washington https://ma.com/837-washington.html 56:36 - Scholastic Building https://ma.com/scholastic-building.html 56:42 - Aldo Rossi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldo_Rossi
Twenty-four thousand men were crowded into Knockaloe Interment Camp in 1914 because they had been found guilty of being in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong last name.Tightly confined behind barbed wire, those men grew increasingly weak, feeble, stiff and awkward until a man named Joseph was shoved through their gate on September 12, 1915.He gave his fellow prisoners strength, stamina, flexibility and grace. They never forgot him. When the war was over and those men were released, Joseph boarded a ship for America. While onboard that ship, he fell in love with a woman named Clara who was also headed to America. When they arrived in New York, Joseph and Clara opened a studio on 8th street that would send ripples across the world. The rest of this story is about how those ripples became a wave.George Balanchine sent his ballet dancers to Joseph on 8th street to gain strength, stamina, flexibility and grace.Martha Graham sent her modern dancers to Joseph on 8th street to gain strength, stamina, flexibility and grace. The best dancers on Broadway went to Joseph on 8th Street to gain strength, stamina, flexibility and grace.George Balanchine became known as “The Father of Modern Ballet.”Martha Graham is shown in Apple's famous “Think Different” video as one of the 17 people that Steve Jobs felt had changed the world.Broadway, Ballet, and Modern Dance were lifted to new heights. When those ripples from 8th Street reached California, the “Golden Age of Hollywood” began.Gene Kelley danced with a light post and sang in the rain to the thundering applause of America.Slim, elegant, and incredibly strong, Fred Astaire did impossible things effortlessly.Ginger Rodgers did exactly what Fred did, but backwards and in high heels.A young man was known for his slogan, “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.” He brought strength, stamina, flexibility and grace to the world of boxing.Like Martha Graham, this young boxer was chosen to appear in Apple's famous “Think Different” video as one of the 17 “crazy ones” who changed the world. He had been the heavyweight champion of the world for 5 years when a 10-year-old boy named Michael elevated dancing to an even higher place with the help of his 4 older brothers. Those 8th Street ripples of strength, stamina, flexibility and grace had splashed back from the California coast and were now rippling through Motown.Charles Atlas and Joseph Pilates were born one year apart and lived an almost identical lifespan.Charles Atlas gave men bulging biceps that other people could admire.Joseph Pilates told us how to gain the strength, stamina, flexibility, and grace to do whatever we want to do.What do you want to do?– Roy H. Walking in faith often places us on a spiritual battleground where the enemy seeks to undermine and distort God's truth. Yet, God equips His people with sound doctrine, discernment to recognize false teaching, and wisdom to cling to His Word, which strengthens and sustains us. The destructive impact of false teaching cannot be underestimated, but we can trust in God's power to guide us through the trials and challenges we face.Connect: https://www.wellspringcc.org/connectOnline Giving: https://www.wellspringcc.org/givingAbout Wellspring: https://www.wellspringcc.org/aboutCCLI Copyright License # 1194988CCLI Streaming License # 20224379
If we chase after everything in life we will never catch what God is giving to us. In week 1 of our new series 2025: This Year Will Be Different, Josh Barker gives us two reasons why we should hold on to the things in our life that can bring us into the plan God has for us.
The truth behind the priests lecherous legends.By Nakod Apa. Listen to the Podcast at Steamy Stories. The PledgeAs was customary, the Temple constables came for Diana early on the day that she came of age; for it was ordained that one who had not been sired by a man was holy and consecrated to the service of the gods, if male to become a priest, if female to serve as a vestal servant; and that they should remain celibate all their years. She wore her finest outfit and did herself up for this big occasion. Today she was accepting a celibate vow and a lifetime of religious duties in the temple and the ministries of the priests. She was stunning, and folks stopped and stared along the streets, as her family procession went by.Diana was named for a great goddess. Her natural beauty was striking. Her inner grace and humility prevented her from any vanity at all.Peaceably Diana bade farewell to her mother but allowed them to follow behind her, to the Temple stronghold, for even had she so wished, there was no way she could escape her fate. She had long known that it was her destiny to become a vestal, as it had been her brother's to become a priest.Shut in a small cell, the hours passed slowly, boringly, as she waited to be given the first initiation step; a red robe of a novice; then be instructed in her duties. At last there came a clatter in the corridor and the sound of a key in the lock. Awkwardly, bearing a tray of food, a tall, young priest entered.“Jon!” She exclaimed in surprise. She jumped up and embraced her brother.“Hush, not so loud, little sister,” he admonished. “I had to bribe the kitchen vestal to allow me to deliver this in her place.”“But how are you, brother? Two years and I've not heard from you. Why have you not written?”“As you will discover it is not permitted for those commanded to the service of The Gods, to communicate with the ones they leave behind.”“Not even their sisters?”“Especially not them, for they might disclose the truth of matters that only The Chosen may know.”“Oh! But I was chosen to become a vestal anyway.”“And now you are not. That's why I came as soon as it was possible. To advise you.”“What do you mean, not to become a vestal? What else can I be?” Diana was confused.Jon paused to gather his thoughts. “Let me first set you aright, for much that we are taught is false; especially, that only those who are married may know and practice sex. Thus it follows that the children of an unmarried woman, like us, must have been conceived without benefit of a man, and are therefore special. Correct?”“Yes, of course.”“It's complete nonsense.”“Then who is our father?”“I know not, except that he must have been a priest.”“But the priests are celibate.”Jon gave a snort. “That is what we are meant to believe. The truth is that a priest may have sex whenever he pleases. I've enjoyed many women in the last two years.”“But where did you, do they, find the women?”“What do you think vestals are for?”“You mean, no I cannot believe it.” Diana was dismayed.“Vestals keep house, but that is secondary. Their main duty is to serve us priests. If you had become a vestal you would have been required to entertain any priest who desired you, and with looks like yours it would not have been long before most would have taken and enjoyed you. Wow, look at you, Diana! You're far more beautiful than I remember! These past two years have been very good to you.”“But what has this to do with being special.”“Well, how do we replace those that go to join the gods? If it were to be with the offspring of priests and vestals it would expose the myth of our purity, and in any case would eventually lead to serious inbreeding. So, at a certain point in their career, each priest is commanded to select from the Common Folk an unmarried woman he fancies, then drug the Eucharist she receives at prayers, divert her to private quarters after mass, then wait for her to pass out. When she finally awakes, she knows nothing of the sexual relations that occurred. But if she conceives, she is publicly esteemed by the priest, for having an immaculate conception. The bastards are the special ones, the replacements, us.”Diana shuddered and studied the floor. “But if I'm not to be a vestal, what am I to be?”“You remember in our lessons they taught us about the war with the nation of Dragonia?”“Yes.”“And how as part of the peace treaty, and to mark our subservience, we are bound to provide an annual tribute?”“Sure.”“What they didn't say was that this tribute is not a tax. That collected tax is diverted to secret clerical treasuries. The actual required Dragonian tribute is only nominal, and takes the form of a maiden. A beautiful young maiden from among the vestals and pledges. She becomes a slave to please and entertain the man who is ruler of Dragonia, The elders have decided that you are to be our tribute for this year.”“But I'm not beautiful.”“Oh my sister, Your humility denies the truth. Everyone else thinks otherwise, and they make the decisions in the Temple. Anyway just accept what comes, for a day or so. It won't be anything serious, at least not until you are given to the Dragonian dictator. I don't know what happens after that. But for now I'll keep an eye out and help where I can. Look, I'll have to go or they'll be wondering where I've disappeared to. Eat that food. Keep your strength up.”Awkwardly Jon leant forward and gave her a brotherly peck on the cheek, then slipped out of the cell door. The InitiationSomewhat perturbed Diana toyed with her food until, some thirty minutes later, two vestals appeared, led her to a room lined with old, cracked tiles, briskly undressed her, bathed her, then clothed her in an ancient red robe.“What happens now,” Diana asked.“You get to be taken to the High Cardinal.” One of the vestals told her. “Come on! He's impatient to know you.”Wearing only his outer dalmatic vesture, the High Cardinal watched as Diana was brought to stand before him. The red shift marking her as a novice was threadbare and at least two sizes too big, only just clinging to the points of her shoulders and leaving bare her slim neck and clavicle. The thin cloth draped itself enticingly around her ample breasts and rippled slightly as she walked, plainly revealing the bulge of her nipples with their dark areola. Her gleaming black hair tumbled down her back in disarray until it nearly touched her tight butt.He said nothing, just looked. He felt his manhood gradually stir and stiffen into readiness. This was one he would relish. Three-and-a-half score years, and more, were behind him but still he had the will and the power to want, ravish and enjoy, although not as often as in his prime. This one would delight him with the softness of those hand filling breasts and the thrusts of his shaft inside her hot, throbbing center. Of the many vestals he'd selected to pleasure him over the years, few had possessed a body to compare with this girl. It was a pity she must be relinquished to the Tribute, but it had to be. At least he would have a use of her before she was sent south. For her part Diana waited uncertainly. The supreme head of the Temple, this holy man, was staring at her most peculiarly. It was as if he wanted, intended, to have her. But no, he couldn't, if Jon was right he could take any woman he wished, so why should he want her? Anyway he was so old. That scrawny neck, those hollow cheeks and drooling lips revolted her. The thought of those liver-spot covered hands roaming across her body, fondling her breasts and caressing her thighs, made her feel sick.“My daughter. It was intended that thou shouldst become a vestal. That our priests, who so devoutly serve the Mighty Gods, might be blessed with some reward for their endeavors by enjoying the pleasures of your body. But on occasion the good of our congregation requires another, higher, sacrifice. We wish it were not so, that we could keep you amongst us, but we must bow before The God's command. Thou art to be our Tribute to The Great Dragon, the ruler of Dragonia, that he may leave us in peace for another year.” The High Cardinal paused, “We do not have to explain, your brother covered it well enough.”“You were listening?”“Do you think we are so imprudent as not to take a few precautions. Of course we heard all that he said, There remains just one item to be confirmed. Your beauty is undeniable, but alone it may not suffice to provide the pleasure to which a ruler is entitled. It is our duty to confirm that you will fully answer his desires.”She was muddled, disjointed, confused. “I don't understand.”Prima Nocta“We must be sure that when he uses you, as a man uses a woman, you will satisfy him. So we must first test your bounty.”“I'm to be mated?”“Yes. It is a chore we will ourselves undertake.”The thought of being taken by him repelled her. His pretense that he was only performing his duty was unconvincing, every word merely echoed his lust for her body. The High Cardinal drew a silk scarf from the pocket of his dalmatic vesture. “But first, since your preference will likely run to youth rather than experience, let us blindfold you. Then you can focus your mind on our skill, not our image.” He fastened the scarf around her eyes.“Now come. Disrobe and let us savor that lovely body with which The Great Gods have blessed you.”What choice did she have? Trembling, she raised her arms and reached behind to unfasten her shift. Lazily it fell to circle her feet. She felt a slight draught caress her body, and shivered as she imagined his eyes on her naked and vulnerable flesh. He would be studying her boobs, her untouched cunni. Tightly she pressed her legs together to hide her nether lips.“Trust us,” he said. “Do all we say and you will have an experience you will never forget.”She managed a faint, “I do not doubt it, Your Grace.”Smiling, pleased with her submissiveness, he looked her up and down, his eyes agleam with desire. His gaze lingering first on her quim with its lush beaver, then on her full, firm tits. His breathing grew harsh, his chest heaved as he reached for her and crushed her to him, the hardness of his erection stabbing her stomach. His palms stroked up and down her back, gently massaging her, feeling the smoothness of her skin; then paused on her hips, slid round to her flat belly and up, up to those adorable boobs. He stopped for a long moment, just cupping them and savoring their firm weight. When he again moved he slowly dragged his palms to and fro across her nipples, feeling them swell, before holding her by the shoulders and easing her to the couch. Firmly he pushed her back until she was lying, her neat buns at the edge, her legs dangling. His hands left her. Diana could hear a rustling, he was removing his dalmatic vesture. Quiet footsteps and she sensed he was beside her again. A light, barely felt touch, brushed her mouth. Her tongue instinctively flicked out to find his finger as he caressed each lip in turn. Then he stroked her cheeks, before dragging his palms down across her chin, her neck, the hollow of her collar bone, smoothing the skin in small circles. When he reached her left breast he pressed gently around the edge spiraling in until he found her bud. It stood high for him to squeeze firmly, sending a bolt of ecstasy straight to her centre. She moaned. The High Cardinal heard her breathing deepen, leant forward and ran his tongue around her other breast. God, she was tasty. His thin lips opened to take her swollen nipple into his mouth. He nipped her with his teeth, sucking her deep. The fingers of his other hand found her cunni. Gently, oh, so gently at first, he stroked her from clit to anus. His fondling grew firmer. He pushed a finger inside to test her dampness, was gratified when she arched her back and pushed her mound into his hand. The scarf was doing its work; she was unable to see him but his heavy breathing and the musky, unmistakable scent of sex was feeding her carnal needs and overcoming her revulsion. Her soft, “Yes, yes,” was music in his ears.“What do you want, my dear?” he asked.Diana barely heard him, all she knew was the rapture of his hands and mouth thrilling her in a way she had never known before. As he rubbed her clit, she began to pant, gave a low moan and dug her nails into his shoulders, then down his back to his hips, instinctively pulling him to her.He held back, in no hurry. She felt him ease himself onto the couch and kneel across her. All the time his tongue licked her nipples, his fingers explored her cunni, testing her wetness but not entering her. Her breathing quickened, she was near to climax. She whimpered, she needed to be filled. He would not let her come. His touch on her swollen cunni lips was feather light, then firm, then light. He seemed to sense her need and to repeatedly rouse and then deny her.She was ready. His fingers parted the soft lips of her center. The helmet of his cock butted them, sliding up and down coating itself with her dampness. He eased away from her, placed a hand to one side to take his weight, his other reaching for her thighs to open her wider before grasping his now totally rigid staff and positioning it at her entrance. She felt it, hard yet soft, probing, pushing her lips apart as the glans slowly entered, forcing deeper and deeper. There was nothing else in the world now but this manhood thrusting, filling, rewarding her. His stroke was slow, his pelvis grinding her clit. She couldn't resist. The tremors started deep inside her then rushed out to explode around his cock.He heard her cry, felt her come, but it was too soon, he wasn't ready yet. He thrust harder, faster; her beauty, her pleasure, her satisfaction were a dim, unimportant memory. All that mattered was his release. His thighs tightened, he shuddered, he whimpered. Hot and hard his seed erupted into her, filling her. He lowered his chest onto her two soft boobs and rested while his heartbeat slowed and the blood drained from his tyrannical probe. Some minutes passed before he rose, resumed his robes and removed the blindfold. “Yes, you will be a worthy Tribute. Would that we had more time to attend to your education ourselves. It would please us greatly to instruct you further. However, the Gods have ordained otherwise. You are required to leave at first light.”“No. Leave that. You deserve better,” he said as she reached to cover herself with the discarded shift. He pulled a cord by the tapestry and she heard the faint chime of a distant bell. The two vestals who had escorted her into his presence entered and genuflected. They were good looking women only a few years older than Diana.“What is the meaning of this rag?” The High Cardinal thrust the shift at them.“But, Your Grace, it is not worth giving her new robes just for the journey. Especially as we are told she will be naked for the presentation ceremony.”“But what if she is seen on the journey. What of her dignity. She deserves your respect. Both of you, remove your robes. Now!”Quaking somewhat at his anger they quickly unfastened their gowns, red with the white edging of senior vestals, and laid them before their feet.“Right,” he turned to Diana, “take your pick. Either should be a reasonable fit.Hesitantly Diana stepped to where, naked, staring at the floor, the two vestals waited. Gingerly she selected the nearest robe and swiftly lowered it over her head, grateful in the draughty room for the residual warmth of it's previous owner.Priest GeorgeThere was a sharp rap on the door. “Come!” Commanded the High Cardinal. The figure that entered was young for a senior priest being but a couple of years older than Diana's brother, but he carried himself with the assurance of one who has already received some prominence in the governing hierarchy.“Ah! George. Well timed.” The High Cardinal frowned at the two Vestals. “We will discuss your performance later. You may withdraw.”Hastily one gathered up the remaining robe and the other the rag that Diana had worn and, still naked, they hurried out of the chamber.“There she is, George,” the old man gestured toward Diana. “You may take her and be on your way. I will expect you back within three weeks.”The young priest bowed his head. “I am honored Your Grace. I will not fail the Gods.” Reaching out he took Diana's hand and drew her from the room.

PAUSE… Breathe in deeply, Letting the air fill you all the way up. Hold it for a moment at the top… And then exhale, Releasing anything that's tight as you breathe out. PAUSE… Breathe in deep again, Expanding your belly and your chest until they're full. Then hold it for a moment again, Hold it… And then exhale, Releasing any stress, Worries, Or tension. PAUSE… Now let your breathing settle into an easy rhythm, As your body melts a little more with each breath out. LONG PAUSE… Breathe in deep, And let it out. Release the tension, Clear the doubt. With each exhale, Let go of stress, There is peace inside, In large excess. PAUSE… Scan your whole body, From head to toe. When you find the tension, Just let it go. With each inhale, Invite in light, Dissolve the darkness, That lingers tonight. PAUSE… Breathe… And release the pressure you hold. Breathe… You're beautiful, perfect and whole. LONG PAUSE… Come inside, And clear your mind. Let go of those thoughts, That squeeze and bind. PAUSE… Come inside, And let yourself feel, The stillness that's here, So you can be healed. PAUSE… The pressures you feel, The details orchestrated. Will dissolve when you realize, They're way too overrated. PAUSE… I promise the world, Won't stop if you do. I promise that it all, Isn't reliant upon you. PAUSE… Imagine a balloon, Tightly stretched and filled, Finally releases air, The pressure has been killed. PAUSE… Breathe… And release the pressure you hold. Breathe… You're beautiful, perfect and whole. LONG PAUSE… Take notice of your body, Your head down to your feet. It's mellow and relaxed now, The pressure is obsolete. PAUSE… Next time you feel this pressure, Begin to arise. Come back to this place and, Gently close your eyes. Today I'm talking about why I try my best not to grip things too tightly. This can apply in business, marriage, relationships with your kids, or any other area of your life really. When we grip too tightly we get fatigued and cause ourselves to be spread to thin as a result of the control we are trying to gain, so just be careful when you notice yourself gripping something too tightly.
