One FM announcer Josh Revens interviews The Salvation Army's Jim Gow about the upcoming Under the Same Stars VIP Sleep Out and Mile From Home fun run at Deakin Reserve, Shepparton. “Under the Same Stars” VIP Sleepout event also incorporates “100 Miles From Home” fundraiser. The purpose of this event is to provide an opportunity for CEO's/ VIP's to not only fund raise by attending, but experience homelessness for an evening. Funds raised are to be kept locally, contributed to The Salvation Army North East Youth Services to assist young people experiencing homelessness. It's on 6pm Wednesday 15th of April 2026 to 6am the 17th of April, 2025. Deakin Reserve (Skene St, Shepparton). The Miles From Home run will be on Wednesday the 15th of April 2026, from 7am, and concludes on Thursday the 16th of April, 2026 at 7am. Miles from Home is a community running event that anyone can enter. Simply just "Sign up now", and enter the discount code: "RUNNER", to pay your $20 registration fee, upload your own picture and details around why you want to be part of this event, and your own fundraising page will be created. This can then be shared on your socials for you to raise money towards your goal... Fundraise $10, $1000, or whatever you choose. This event runs concurrently as the “Under the Same Stars” sleepout event and is held on a circuit that surrounds the Deakin Reserve precinct, where the sleepers will be participating. The circuit is one kilometer exactly, so you pick how many laps you would like to complete. This element is about personal achievement. For example, if you have run 5kms previously, then you might want to run 10kms. If you have run a half marathon before, you might want to run a full marathon. This choice is entirely yours. You can run, walk or roll your wheelchair around this circuit to achieve your own personal goal. Some people are indeed aiming to run for the full 24 hours!
