Many adults with ADHD struggle with perfectionism. And that's the topic of this week's podcast. How do we thrive as adults with ADHD without letting perfectionism get in our way? Let's discuss the dilemma of perfectionism and adult ADHD. Dr. Tara Cousineau is the guest on this episode of Overcoming Distractions and author of the book The Perfectionist's Dilemma. She is also the author of the “Kindness Cure” and has joined us on the podcast several times. Trained at Harvard Medical School, she's a part-time staff psychologist at Harvard University's Counseling and Mental Health Service. Dr. Cousineau describes herself as a recovering perfectionist, and because of that, she discusses why she decided to write The Perfectionist's Dilemma. Dr. Cousineau gives us a basic definition of what she feels perfectionism is. Dave and Dr. Cousineau discuss how we can find more balance, peace and joy by tackling perfectionism. And how we can cultivate a better relationship with ourselves. Dr. Cousineau also discusses the following with Dave. Where is perfectionism rooted? Is it a fear of judgment, etc…? People pleasing? Are we born as perfectionists, or is this learned behavior? Perfectionism is more than just work. We also see this in social interactions and in other areas of our life. Can perfectionism cause anxiety and stress? Can it even lead to burnout? Dr. Cousineau walks listeners through a beginning strategy to help minimize the challenges of perfectionism. In this episode, we're pleased to welcome Phil Cousineau—a modern mythologist, storyteller, and inspirational speaker whose life and work are deeply rooted in the world of myth and the wisdom of Joseph Campbell. Cousineau's journey through mythology is woven into every aspect of his career, from his prolific writing and filmmaking to his role as a teacher and speaker. His fascination with mythology began at an early age and has led him around the globe, exploring the intersections of culture, art, and the human spirit. Over his decades-long career, Cousineau has become an influential voice in translating ancient myths into relevant insights for the modern world, emphasizing what he calls “the omnipresent influence of myth in modern life.”Cousineau's relationship with Joseph Campbell has been a guiding light in his work. As a former fellow of the Joseph Campbell Foundation and co-writer of the celebrated documentary The Hero's Journey: The World of Joseph Campbell, Cousineau has both preserved and expanded Campbell's legacy. His work is not just an academic exploration but a lived experience, embodying Campbell's teaching that mythology speaks to universal aspects of the human experience. For Cousineau, myth is more than mere storytelling; it is a spiritual tool, a way to understand ourselves, and a means to find purpose in an increasingly fragmented world. In this episode, he and JCF's John Bucher delve into Cousineau's wide-ranging work as an author, filmmaker, and consultant, and explore his relationship with Joseph Campbell. Amy Cousineau Massey joins Adrian in the TTML studio this week to give some really personal and insightful thoughts on ‘Adversity and the human lawyer'. Amy talks about dealing with adversity and personal challenges having lost her baby boy when 6 months pregnant. We discuss how LinkedIn can and should be used to talk openly and in detail about experiences and tragedies like Amy's. In this podcast, we also discuss:· How law degrees differ across the globe and the ways this impacts the journey into law firms;· The benefits of a good memory on studying law and how this is not a core skill when it comes to practicing law, rather being able to find the law quickly and relay it to the client in a way they can understand;· The sales aspect of being a lawyer and bringing in new business not being taught enough when studying law;· Employment law as an emotional practice – dealing with people's livelihoods whilst managing your own emotions and making sure you are proceeding with the law behind you;· Deciding to leave private practice after dealing with the challenges that come with returning to work after having a child, embracing consultancy and the freedom and power that comes with this career change. And stay tuned till the end for our discussion on the importance of putting the idea of widespread gender diversified boards into practice.

In this episode of Faith Over Breakfast, Pastors Eric and Michael offer a nuanced exploration of personal revival, probing its meaning and significance for individuals striving to cultivate a deeper faith. Grounding their discussion in the historical backdrop of American revival movements, the pastors consider how these historical movements have impacted societal and cultural attitudes.Drawing on their pastoral experiences and theological insights, the pastors highlight the pivotal role of prayer, repentance, and surrender in fostering personal revival. The fast-paced and secularized nature of modern life, they contend, presents unique challenges to cultivating a consistent spiritual practice.Furthermore, they explore the dynamic ways in which different generations respond to revival and the need for the church to tailor its approach in order to connect with a diverse range of age groups and cultural contexts.Bible & Bourbon with Pastor BenSome people think the Bible & Bourbon don't go together, but we disagree!Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the show"Faith Over Breakfast with Pastors Andy & Eric" is a weekly podcast where Pastors Andy and Eric come together over a imaginary delicious breakfast to talk about faith, food, sermons, culture, and more. What gets to happen when you lean into what feels good rather than just dipping your toe in it?Why do we “treat” ourselves instead of implementing what feels good & right as a standard of being?Sometimes I feel like I'm so programmed to plug things into my life as a means to an end that I forget to enjoy something just for the sake of it. No end game. No direct benefit. Just choosing to spend time in an experience for the experience's sake. When is the last time you did that? For me, even going to yoga class has been implemented into my schedule as a means to wellness- not for the experience. But the more I go the more I realize the point is there is no point. “Making it through” the hour so I can rush off and be productive in my day is missing the point. I am not allowing the experience to be transformative and life giving if I am dismissing it as another box on my to do list.Today on the show we have the amazing Sara Cousineau. Sara is a Coach/Doula/ Witness of Miracles. Through her journey, she has evolved through education & practice from an accountant into a holistic nutritionist, yoga teacher, massage therapist, meditation teacher, sex & relationship coach and birth & postpartum doula. She coaches women who want to experience more joy, pleasure & fulfillment in their lives. Many of these women are experiencing burnout, chronic illness and or/have experienced previous trauma/abuse. Today on the Listing Agent Lifestyle podcast we're talking with Monsieur Henri Cousineau, from Montreal, where he's a real estate broker focused on leasing office space. He's been a realtor for a very long time and online since 2000! and we talked about the evolution during that time. We focused in on the chain from getting eyeballs to his website, then people leaving their name and email address, then bonding with them over time, and finally meeting with them face-to-face. We discovered the weakest link for him is getting people to leave their name and their email address once they come to his site. This is the code to crack, because from there, he's really got a great business dialed in and has been very successful in helping people once he's able to be in contact with them. This is a really good episode with a lot of transferable takeaways. Links: Show Notes GoGoAgent.com Be a Guest Listing Agent Lifestyle Book Listing Agent Scorecard

When I was growing up, the boys took shop, and the girls took home ec. The latter, as we would say today, stressed gender roles, and consisted of cooking, sewing, and the like. But real home economics should deal with household finances, budgeting, credit, and the like. It should help to prepare high school students for the real world. That's why in this episode of the podcast, I wanted to talk about how that should change, and has been changing in some schools around the country. To that end, I invited teacher and author Jake Cousineau onto the show to discuss how he is accomplishing just that! In this episode you will learn: About how personal finance is taught in a high school in California About the importance of learning personal finance at an early age Why high schools should teach personal finance to seniors
One of the biggest issues that COVID has brought is the debate on vaccine mandates and hesitancy. Brock from Advanced Property Solutions is back on the show, check out his first appearance on TCL Show #153, and this time he has brought a new friend, Dalton Cousineau from Southpaw Stoneworks and we are going to be talking Brocks first year as a GC and how Dalton is taking masonry and stone skills to new levels.New Podcast to check out – Michelle Farrugia has been on TCL twice now and she's doing her own podcast called Cognitive Capital Podcast and find it on iTunes, Spotify and YouTube, great show about finance, real estate and entrepreneurship. We open the show with a few shout outs and then discuss the rising fuel costs but not in a negative, at TCL we present where all these fuel costs are coming from, who has their hands in the cookie jar.On with the show, it begins with Dalton sharing how he began at 5 years of age and he has Lego to thank for his interest in stone work. His grandfather is the one that pushed him, encouraged him, and gave him and hour to pick up the skill. Dalton doesn't really consider himself a mason, he looks at his skills more of a stonesmith artist. An interesting question comes up, our guests today are mid 20's, we ask what do you think you will be like 25 years from now? It's important to take care of your body and mind and maintain a healthy lifestyle is what Dalton shares. Brock shares what his first year as a GC has been and he recently hired a 3rd full time person to the crew. Things are good for him.We discuss the difference between handyman and professional tradesperson, conversation get's interesting here. Brock and Dalton share an estimate that they were both going to do and in the end they decided to walk away from being involved, basically the client wanted a handyman price but a professional scope of work. They share that the client wanted the detailed work to be done for 75% less than they were quoting, when a client speaks to you that way, walk and walk fast.We bring up Recession Depression talk and discuss how the last two years has been great for construction and we are hoping that everyone in construction has been working just as hard on the business as on the tools, in preparation for a possible recession or even worse the next great depression. Are tradespeople buying fewer tools? Maintaining their current tools? Looking to sell tools they don't really use? There is something going on and for good reason. The conversation gets gritty with discussing the future of construction and trying to figure out why trades are so quick to want to get higher, bigger without learning all that they can. Where they step into what Brock calls, the “analyse paralysis”. Dalton ends the show with his thoughts on sharing insight to other trades, “fear is tasty” jump in with both feet and make it happen.Shared and Discussed LinksBook - The Bitcoin Standard by Saifedean AmmousBook – Beat the Bank by Larry Bateshttps://www.tremcosealants.com/markets/residential/weather-resistive-barrier-systems/enviro-dri/enviro-dri/Thank you Brock and Dalton. In the lead up to our epic Buddhist pilgrimage to Nepal and India in October 2022 led by Tibetan Master Geshe Tenzin Zopa I wanted to curate a series of interviews with scholars and guides to help shed light on the ancient practice of journeying to scared sites and its relevance to a post pandemic world. Nat Geo has recently said pilgrimage will be the next travel trend after Covid as people search for new meaning to help restore their lives. I could not be more delighted in this, our inaugural episode of the Wisdom Keeper Podcast, to host mythologist and multi award winning author Phil Cousineau. PHIL COUSINEAU is prolific writer and filmmaker, teacher and editor, lecturer and travel leader, storyteller and TV host. His fascination with the art, literature, and history of culture has taken him from Michigan to Marrakesh, Iceland to the Amazon, in a worldwide search for what the ancients called the “soul of the world.” With more than 35 books and 15 scriptwriting credits to his name, the “omnipresent influence of myth in modern life” is a thread that runs through all of his work. His books include Stoking the Creative Fires, Once and Future Myths, The Art of Pilgrimage, The Hero's Journey, Wordcatcher, The Painted Word, The Oldest Story in the World, The Book of Roads, and The Accidental Aphorist. Phil Cousineau's website: https://www.philcousineau.net Phil and I Discuss: The purpose of pilgrimage from its ancient roots to modern times The power of physical places whether they be sacred or secular sites The importance of reconnecting, remembering, and revitalizing our lives after centuries of fragmentation and disconnection from spirit The Long Discussion, Phil's approach to taking the art of conversation on a deep into the heart of vulnerability. Phil also describes contemplation on the road, how a multi sensory experience can be internalized through intention and attention. Phil discusses his relationship with his mentor Joseph Campbell, and the need to innovate the epic hero's journey from a mostly male rite of passage to a more collective, inclusive myth. We discuss the difference between taking from and giving back when on pilgrimage The Wisdom Keeper Podcast is available on Apple podcasts, Google Podcasts, Youtube and Spotify. Episode 5 of The Sunday Turnaround is here! This week's guest is none other than the great Will "Dusty" Cousineau. On today's episode we talk about Dusty's stand-up comedy outings (2:09), how he tries to keep a positive mindset in his day to day life (9:43), his advice for younger college students as a senior (27:33), and we close with some fun hypothetical questions, covering celebrities, athletes, video games and more (39:45).
Although Peter Cousineau always had a strong calling for helping others and always wanted to experiment with homeopathy and medicinal plants, he needed to earn a living when he moved to Vermont 22 years ago. He postponed his original plan and used his farming and gardening knowledge to start his own farm. Still, some things are simply meant to be, and regardless of what happens in the middle, they end up happening. Peter's mother needed major surgery on her shoulder, and despite the doctor's reluctance, she decided to use hemp's CBD and tincture to deal with the pain instead of using opioids. She navigated her recovery with minimal discomfort. That was it, Peter decided to blend his farm, his desire of helping others, and the ancestral knowledge his part-Native American grandmother kept alive in the family to produce hemp derivates. Peter Cousineau is the Founder and CEO of Rēl Hemp, a company that offers quality CBD products grown on their farm. He has over 20 years of experience in the horticulture and agriculture industry, building 3 successful businesses in the process. He owns the Four Pillars Farm, which grows the Organic Hemp CBD commercialized in Rēl Hemp. In this episode, after experimenting with CBD myself to help me sleep better, which ended up having a positive impact on hot flashes, I decided to bring Peter to the show to tell us more about hemp CBD's benefits. He kindly shared his story and relationship with farming and why he decided to start producing hemp CBD. We also go through the lack of education about these products in the market and the massive amount of people that are tricked into buying products that won't help them much. Some Questions I Ask:What does CBD do? And what is the value that it can bring to the table? (6:24)Please, explain to me the different products that you have and how can they help women? (16:08)How do you think we got to this point in our lives that we're looking to a natural plant to help us get through some of these issues we're facing? (23:15)In This Episode, You Will Learn:About Peter's journey into becoming a hemp CBD producer (7:03)How hard it was for Peter to make the leap of faith and start this business (25:43)Why it is essential to educate people on CBD's benefits (32:49)The benefits of using Peter's products (33:32)Resources:Rēl Hemp websiteRēl Hemp InstagramRēl Hemp FacebookConnect with Peter:LinkedInLet's Connect!WebsiteEmail: alqziegert@gmail.com Hosted on Acast.
