This week, Pastor AJ challenged us with one important question: “What are you known for?” In 1 Corinthians 4, Paul says he wanted to be known as a faithful servant of Christ, seeking the approval of God over the approval of people. We were reminded that heroes of the faith are not defined by platform or recognition, but by obedience. Just like Edward Kimball's simple faithfulness led to a ripple effect that impacted generations, our obedience to God can impact lives in ways we may never see. In today's discussion we talk through Matthew 6:1-21 where Jesus teaches that we should not practice righteousness in order to be seen by others. Instead, we practice righteousness in secret because the Fathers sees and rewards his children. We talk through some ways we can avoid hypocrisy, as well as some strategies for pursuing pure rewards from God.

In today's sermon, Apostle Alfred Williams teaches that the Lord has been training the church for the days ahead—preparing believers for revival, shaking, and global turbulence without fear. He explains that the love for God is the entrance into God's power, and that the practical expression of that love is devotion: giving God priority, attention, and wholehearted commitment. Drawing from Jesus' life, he shows that Christ operated in supernatural authority because He was utterly devoted to the Father—“the Son can do nothing by himself… I seek not to please myself but Him who sent me” (John 5:19, 30). This sermon is a direct call to stop living on the edge of church life—spectating, picking and choosing, or staying busy without applying the Word—and instead become the kind of believer upon whom God's power can rest. Apostle Alfred Williams then makes the message deeply practical: devotion means consistent prayer, faithful gathering, disciplined Bible study, and refusing spiritual distractions and counterfeit voices. He warns that a time may come when believers cannot rely on “normal” routines, so devotion must become personal and rooted—at home, in prayer, and in the Word (Isaiah 2:2–3). He anchors the believer's confidence in eternity and purpose, reading from 2 Corinthians 5:1–9: we live by faith, not by sight, and our aim is to please the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:7, 9). The sermon closes with a bold encouragement: heaven is not far, the Holy Spirit is a deposit within you, and devotion gives you access to God's presence and authority—so don't drift, don't delay, and don't do life by yourself… fall in love with Jesus until your faith becomes fearless and your life becomes unmistakably powerful.

For many regular church attendees in the United States, it's easy to SAY they love the Lord like that, but their lives outside of the church speak something different. Devotion to the Lord is CRITICAL for victory over sin for today, and for the dark days ahead. Episode Summary: In Psalm 119:97, David cries out, “Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.” But Paul wrote to the Romans, “You are not under law but under grace,” (6:14) and to the Galatians, “If you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law” (5:18). So, for Christians, which is it? Are we called to live free from the Law or devoted to the Law? As we continue our study of I Timothy we realize that the question of the place of the law for Christians was an issue that Timothy and other church leaders at Ephesus were wrestling with. This episode examines what Paul said to Timothy as well as what the rest of Scripture says about whether a believer should try to be righteous, i.e. keep the law.For Further Prayerful Thought:How would try to explain to a new believer that when Paul said that Christians don't live “under the law” he was referring to how we are SAVED, not how we are TO LIVE.What stood out to you about the three categories of biblical law?Look back at the 8 texts and reasons that pursuing righteousness is NOT legalism. Which ones seemed most persuasive to you.In David's Psalm 119 cry, “O how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day” why might he associate loving God's law with meditating on it?For the printed version of this message click here. For a summary of topics addressed by podcast series, click here. For FREE downloadable studies on men's issues click here.To make an online contribution to enable others to hear about the podcast: (Click link and scroll down to bottom left)

The Word of Grace
Warfare Wednesday (November 2025) Devotion to God Through Worship & Service

The Word of Grace

At today's Warfare Wednesday service, Pastor Femi Paul declared that worship is our weapon for warfare! In this brief but powerful exhortation titled “Devotion to God Through Worship & Service,” he taught that true devotion is more than religious activity; it is a heartfelt, consistent loyalty to God shown through reverence, obedience, and service. Drawing from Philippians 2:20–22 (MSG), PFP described Timothy as “the real thing - a devoted son” who genuinely cared for the things of Christ, not personal gain. Such devotion, he explained, is what God desires from every believer, a life that prioritises Him above all else. PFP highlighted that devotion is expressed through worship, prayer, and selfless service. It requires yielding one's time, energy, and resources to God, not out of duty but out of love. From 1 Timothy 4:8, he reminded us that while physical discipline profits a little, devotion to God pays eternal dividends, bringing blessings in this life and the next. As Isaiah 58:14 (TLB) affirms, those who delight in the Lord will “ride high” and enjoy their full share of covenant blessings. PFP concluded by urging the church to strengthen their devotion - make worship and service not just acts of faith, but weapons of victory that move the hand of God in every battle. Lord, I choose devotion over distraction. Teach me to serve You faithfully and worship You wholeheartedly. As I delight in You, let me rise higher, walk in victory, and enjoy the fullness of Your blessings. Amen.

Let me ask you a question. Do you love God with your whole heart? It's a powerful question, isn't it? Perhaps you feel a bit convicted by the question. Our hearts are so easily divided among a lot of things we love and desire. We can be tempted to love God, but to do so without giving Him our whole heart. Main Points:1. As I think about our lives, I recognize that one of the primary obstacles to wholehearted devotion to God is simply distraction. In a world filled with noise and busyness, it's easy to allow our attention to be diverted from God. We become preoccupied with the cares of life, the pursuit of success, or the allure of entertainment. 2. Our hearts, meant to be wholly His, are divided among competing interests. As a result, our love for God can become diluted.  Our love for God is downgraded to a corner of our lives, rather than occupying the central throne it deserves.3. We also know that sin entangles us and obstructs our path to following God wholeheartedly. Whether it be overt sins or even subtle compromises, sin separates us from God and disrupts the intimacy of our relationship with Him. Today's Scripture Verses:Matthew 22:37-38 - “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.”Numbers 13:30 - “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”Numbers 14:24 - "The Lord said, “Because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.” Joshua 14:14 -  “because he followed the Lord, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.”Hebrews 12:2  - “…let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

God builds His church through the work and activity of the Holy Spirit in us, not by human enterprise.  Paul's description of being crucified with Christ is an identification with Him by the power of the Resurrection. That power changes the believer from what they were to one in union with Christ. He gave His life for us.  A reflection on that should produce a pattern of devotion toward God.
