Boxing day highlighted the weird financial pressures lurking across Australia at the moment, as shoppers flooded stores to make the most of Boxing Day bargains. More and more shoppers were holding out for a bargain during the festive season as cost-of-living pressures continued to weigh households down. Perhaps It’s really because of cost-of-living challenges that … Continue reading "Shop ‘Til You Drop; Or Not: This Christmas!"

It's Pride 2022 but many people still continue to question why gay people need to express their sexuality or speak out and share their authentic self. Perhaps It is hard to imagine how it feels to have to hide parts of yourself when you are in a position of privilege. However, I believe that everyone has a responsibility to listen to others who do not have the same privileges and join them in the fight for equality in this world. My guest shares very honestly and openly what it feels like to grow up without a voice. What it feels like to not be seen and expected to follow unrealistic rules in a culture and family that follows traditions strictly. What it feels like to be loved conditionally and how hard she has been trying to be loved for who she actually is. Discussed in the episode:How feeling unseen as the youngest growing up in a large family and constantly compared to older siblings, led to making life choices that were very different and may not have been made otherwise (1:35)Beginning to question on what basis past decisions were made (5:10)Trying to be different and stand out was seen as rebellion (8:23)Moving away to study at the age eighteen was eye opening and developed a new awareness and confidence (10:00)Daily calls from back home with a 7pm curfew to abide by, started to be challenged and questioned (14:20)Explaining the family dynamic of perpetrator-victim-rescuer (16:45)Growing up in a family where girls and boys are separated until it is time to marry (17:55)Exploring what it is to be gay and the need to escape from arranged marriage (23:45)The relief that followed after expressing her needs for the first time at the age of twenty-four (31:00)Not wanting to lie anymore and speaking her truth to family and friends, gave her more confidence regardless of the outcome (32:30)Explaining the benefits of healing past traumas with therapy and the power of recognizing personal triggers (37:30)The power of language and how rephrasing what we say can change how we make others feel (42:00)Connect with Rania FacebookInstagramTwitterLinkedInWebsite Hosted on Acast. DEVOTION AND MEDITATION Psalm 40:2Evaluate Your Position Today.Perhaps It's Time To Move On
Right, so I'm nudging myself to make a break from the past. Specifically my grievance with my son and what he choose. There's no easy or simple way to proceed, or is there? Perhaps It is as simple as allowing my actions to reflect a choice about what I will live for. I'm bored with being half committed to life and using his senseless death as an excuse. Being angry is addictive. It easier to hate than to love. I'm exploring this process privately, well, except for this this.
On this edition of the Unsolved Mysteries round-table, I'm joined by Samantha and Liz from Perhaps It's You podcast to discuss a trio of murders. That's right, for the first time on the Our Strange Skies podcast, we're talking about murder. Liz talks about the murder of Audrey Moate, who disappeared in the Bayou of Louisiana. Did she run afoul of the manager of the swamp? Samantha discusses the murder of Kathy Hobbs, who was abducted while returning from a local grocery store to purchase a paperback book. Is this a crime against avid readers? And finally, Rob tells the story of Angela Hammond, who was abducted and disappeared in a rather dramatic, and cinematic fashion, prompting us to ask, is there a hall of fame for guys named Rob? We explore other off topic mysteries, like, whether Mothman is a man-sized moth or half moth/half man, Mothman's booty situation. Is getting abducted by aliens perfect branding for this podcast? Are treasure segments targeted toward old people that don't have 401Ks? At the end of this, do we deserve a mystery where Robert Stack finds 30 puppies in a box? Is anyone going to solve any of these goddamned mysteries?! We do not know who wrote Psalm 100 or when. Perhaps It was when they built the *temple again 80 years after the King of Babylon destroyed it. The temple was a special house for God in Jerusalem. The *temple had a wall all around it. Verse 4 tells people to say "thanks!" to God as they walk through the gates in this wall. The psalm tells everybody to come to the *temple and tell God how great he is.What does Psalm 100 Mean? What should we be doing next?Listen as we discuss this great positive Psalm with Pastor Nancy, fitting message for the Thanksgiving holiday.Support the show (http://www.perrychristian.church)

This is Part 2 of reflections on the fire at Notre Dame du Paris. Chuck converses with his young son Dawson wondering how much we must lose of what is beloved and revered. In this first of two Podcasts they explore hopeful possibilities that arise from Catholicism, the Bible, Eschatology, and Astrophysics. The near loss of Notre Dame du Paris was heartbreaking for hundreds of millions of people. Perhaps It will be restored as it has been several times in the past, perhaps as a Catholic Church again. However ultimately will Notre Dame du Paris be lost forever ?

On November 26, 1924, American silent film producer, director, screenwriter and actor (basically an all-out film dude) Thomas Ince boarded the yacht of news publisher and American businessman William Randolph Hearst as the guest of honour, there to celebrate his birthday with the Hollywood and LA elite... but he didn't exactly end up leaving the ship the same way he'd gotten on. While the official cause of Ince's death was listed as heart failure, mystery shrouds what really happened aboard the Oneida. Join the #DickSquad this week on The Lady Dicks Podcast as we discuss the untimely death of Thomas Ince and his supposed haunting of Culver Studios.
