Baseball certainly isn't the same game it was even 5 years ago. If we go back to 10 years ago, rule changes, personalities and focuses on "enhancements" changed the game to be sure. If we travel back 20 years, we'll see how salaries have clearly evolved, how roles changed completely across the board and how owners have become legends - both revered and reviled. Who'd have thought that now almost 30 years later, a tiny little baseball movie, featuring a bunch of ghosts, a farm, and a game of catch Ray Kinsella never had - would be the focus of a Perspective Review? 1989's FIeld of Dreams offers a little bit of something - to everyone. While a "ghost" story, the only thing you'll think is "scary" about this movie is your inability to walk past a screen it's playing on - and keep on walking. Election Season 2024 – It has been a raucous time for the American Voting Public. About Eileen Brill: Eileen is a painter, writer, and Sign Language Interpreter who grew up outside of Philadelphia and graduated from Carnegie Mellon with a B.S. in Economics. She has written professionally for the restaurant, hotel, and commercial real estate industries. A Letter in the Wall is her first novel, Eileen's short story “Christmas Angel” appeared in the international literary magazine Beyond Words in 2021. In this episode, Mike and Eileen discuss: Where Eileen's story as a writer began The inspiration for A Letter in the Wall The lost art for writing letters Publishing your own book Key Takeaways: A child's passion for writing may stem from their parents' writing abilities, but it is up to the child to turn that inspiration into a career in the future. Writing at a young age gives children more opportunities to learn, grow, and develop their creativity. Inspiration for writing can sometimes be found unexpectedly in unusual things found in your surroundings. You have complete control over the stories you write, but you must also be intimately familiar with your characters' thoughts and motivations. There are many advantages to modern modes of communication, but there is something very special about writing and receiving letters, and it deserves to be kept alive now more than ever. Writing letters should not become a lost art. If you believe your story is good enough to be published and read by others, you must be willing to put yourself out there, especially if you are a debut author. Publishing a book is not an easy process but it is well worth the effort. "When you have an idea in your head, talk to people you respect and get their opinion because you do not know everything. So move forward, don't be afraid and talk to people and get it out of your brain in and out of the atmosphere." – Eileen Brill Grab a copy of A Letter on the Wall: Bookshop.org: https://bookshop.org/books/a-letter-in-the-wall/9781684631339 Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Letter-Wall-Novel-Eileen-Brill-ebook/dp/B09CD27NTF/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=a%20letter%20in%20the%20wall&qid=1628790843&s=books&sr=1-1 Barnes & Noble: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/a-letter-in-the-wall-eileen-brill/1140012422?ean=9781684631339 Connect with Eileen Brill: Website: https://www.eileenbrill.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/EileenBrillAuthor Instagram: http://instagram.com/EileenGraceBrill Email: msleen46@gmail.com Connect with Mike Carlon: Website: https://uncorkingastory.com/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSvS4fuG3L1JMZeOyHvfk_g Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/uncorkingastory/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/uncorkingastory Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/uncorkingastory LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/uncorking-a-story/ Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Producing a podcast is a LOT of work, and it can be confusing. Fortunately, there are editors like us who not only take on some of the workload, but also bring our expertise and structure to the process. And as an added benefit, we are always looking for ways to improve what we do, for our benefit and our clients. We focus on improving our processes, get better at identifying issues, improving client relationships, and more. However, that doesn't mean that every client is a fit for us and sometimes we have to make the tough call - to decide that it's time to part ways with a client. Of course, even in parting, how we do it matters. Born at only 3lbs 6oz in 1962, Lesa Thomas was sent home to die but the universe had a different plan. Unfortunately, this plan didn't mean that Lisa's life would be easy as she experienced severe childhood neglect and trauma. As a result, Lisa feels almost no pain. She eventually turned to alcohol to cope, but found Lionrock Recovery in early 2020. Today she lives in Texas with her spouse whom she has been with for more than 33 years. She has three children - two deaf, two the same age, and two adopted. Lisa says that nature is her religion and the one thing that makes her happy. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking, taking care of plants, and trying to eliminate paper in her life. She works from home and loves the fact that her commute is across the yard and the traffic is merely a multitude of squirrels and birds that cross her path.Additional InformationEpisode ResourcesKasher in the Rye Book | Available on AmazonConnect with Dr. Brad ReedyDr. Brad's Website | drbradreedy.com Evoke's Website | evoketherapy.comConnect with The Courage to ChangePodcast Website | lionrock.life/couragetochangepodcastPodcast Instagram | @couragetochange_podcastPodcast Facebook | @thecouragetochangepodcastPodcast Email | podcast@lionrock.lifeYouTube | The Courage to Change PlaylistLionrock ResourcesLionrock Life Mobile App | lionrock.life/mobile-appSupport Group Meeting Schedule | lionrock.life/meetings

Episode 61 - Welcome to The Hear Me Out! [CC] Podcast, an audio show (with transcripts included) where we listen to stories from fascinating individuals in and around the d/Deaf community and from your host, yours truly, Ahmed Khalifa. In an interview with Deaf consultant and BSL user Lynn-Stewart Taylor, I had the opportunity to talk to her about the campaign #WhereIsTheInterpreter and why she felt the need to start it.I've talked about it in the previous episode but I felt it was important to learn straight from the source on why this is necessary and to understand better about the benefits of this campaign BSL users.Even though I don't directly benefit from this campaign, that doesn't mean we should put it aside as Lynn (with the help of interpreter Helen) explains why this is crucial for everyone...and not just those who are Deaf and BSL users. Episode #60 - Welcome to The Hear Me Out! [CC] Podcast, an audio show (with transcripts included) where we listen to stories from fascinating individuals in and around the d/Deaf community and from your host, yours truly, Ahmed Khalifa. It is critical for everyone to be informed of the important guidelines that we need to follow when there is a global pandemic and it is a life and death situation.Unfortunately, d/Deaf people are not informed as adequately as they should be.Even though there are government guidelines to be followed when they do their live emergency broadcasting, deaf/Deaf sign language users tend to be forgotten about.Hence why the hashtag #WhereIsTheInterpreter, originally started by Lynn Stewart-Taylor, has been trending in the UK to do something about this.To watch the video version of this podcast and links to relevant sources, visit the episode page here. What do you think about this episode? Welcome to The Hear Me Out! [CC] Podcast, an audio show (with transcripts included) where we listen to stories from fascinating individuals in and around the d/Deaf community and from your host, yours truly, Ahmed Khalifa. It's time we give sign language interpreters a break and give them the recognition and appreciation that they deserve. Many people don't realise that simultaneous interpreting (and by the way, that applies to oral language interpretation too), requires a high-level of focus, listening and concentration. And most of us don't see that. So it's no wonder that they can get physically, mentally and even emotionally fatigued too, yet that is rarely talked about and appreciated enough. So let's give them credit for what they do and appreciate it.For full transcript, video version of the show and links to sources, visit, visit the episode page here.
