Who Has Authority over Your Life?
Who Has Authority over Your Life?
Continuing with our NEW series called "The Servant King," (A Study of the Gospel of Mark).... Have you ever noticed that sometimes when you present your ongoing problems to a professional, they seem to "hide" themselves, make you look like a fool, and only to reappear after you are out of the presence of the professional? Let me give you an example...Your vehicle is making a weird noise at the front side of the vehicle when you are driving it. When you take it to your mechanic, all of a sudden you are not able to point it out to him because the noise seems to be gone. So when you leave the mechanic's shop, now you're hearing the noise once again. It makes you wish that you could have your mechanic hang out with you for a day because you KNOW that the noise will eventually return! The same thing seems to happen when church service is about to begin. Sometimes just before service, it seems like the batteries for our microphones or cameras die, computers develop a glitch, or all of a sudden tend to "update" themselves. We see this as an attempt from the enemy trying to prevent us from sharing God's Word. As you know, the enemy constantly beats down his servants, but is quick to try to keep us from delivering God's Word to them because he's afraid of losing them. In today's teaching, Pastor Ben delivers a beautiful message in reference to Mark 1:21-28 where a demon comes to the church in where Jesus was teaching. We learn exactly what Jesus said and did to get rid of that demon. As we know, evil can NOT be in the presence of Holiness. Jesus is Holiness...Jesus is GOD. So, do you have an un-welcomed guest within you or within your heart that needs to be removed? (If you don't have a beautiful relationship with Jesus, then the answer is "Yes!") Then please contact us so that we can teach you how to develop a relationship with Jesus (GOD) and get rid of that un-welcomed guest. If you are interested in attending our LIVE teachings (Wednesdays @ 7:00 pm & Sundays @ 10:00 am), you are invited to visit us at 4218 Boston Ave. Lubbock, Texas. Pastor Marc Sharp continues with Part 4 of the current series that is an epic journey through the New Testament Gospel of Mark, verse by verse. The book of Mark was most likely the first one written, and is generally attibuted to John Mark, a close associate of Peter, and also of Paul and Barnabas. The Gospel of Mark is all about Jesus and the good news (Gospel) of the kingdom of God. How do we become members of this kingdom? The title of this sermon is “The Most Important Power Jesus Has.” While it is not a memorable title, it is a bold one, because it claims that one power Jesus has is more important than his other powers. My claim is probably more personal than theological. I am not even sure that there needs to be a competition among the different powers we see in Jesus: we don’t need NFL “power rankings” each week. But for some reason I am wanting to argue for a preeminent place – a #1 ranking – for one of Jesus’ powers; and if I am going to make that case, I need to make it well. Rev. Larry Hayward preaches on the Fourth Sunday after the Epiphany. The Scripture lesson is Mark 1:21-28.
When we look at Jesus’ Word as our authority, we have a much greater security than when we look to our own assumptions

We exist to ignite a passion in every person to glorify and enjoy God everywhere and in everything.
The ministry of the Gospel comes through authoritative teaching and power.
The authority of truth lies in God's Word. When we take heed to the authority of Jesus' word, others take notice. It has the power to change lives. The question is: "Are we yielded?" All power to live the Christian life comes from Him.
Mark 1:21-28. Jesus has authority over everything, shouldn't he have all authority over all your life?

Through out the Gospels people are amazed by Jesus. Amazed by what he does and what he says. We can sometimes lose how amazing Jesus is because we know the stories and accounts of Jesus life so well that we forget just how incredible and true they are. As we search for a greater life we need to be reminded how great and amazing Jesus is and that he invites us to be a part of the amazing and great miracle of sharing Jesus with those that we do life with. What greater miracle is there than saving faith in Jesus and we by the power of the Holy Spirit can be those through whom Jesus is shared. What greater legacy can we leave in the lives around us than transforming time and eternity and it starts by being with Jesus!
Jesus taught with authority and cast a demon out of a man in the Synagogue. In the cosmic struggle between light and dark, he was obviously on the side of light (even though he wasn't yet known as the Word of God which spoke creation into existence). He was a powerful force for light, and yet his detractors began to spread as fast as his admirers. Religious leaders feared him because he threatened the norm. Folks may have followed him instead of them, and so they responded out of fear. Faith is not the way of fear. Faith is the way of boldness and daring. It took boldness and daring for the man with the unclean spirit to enter the Synagogue. He was unclean and so shouldn't have been there, but he came seeking healing from Jesus. When we see people enter our churches who are unclean, sinners in need of healing, folks without faith, the fearful response is to have them leave so that we don't get dragged down by their unbelief or wayward living. The faithful response is to say "come, welcome". If sinners can't come seek healing in the church, where can they go? "Come and be healed by Jesus, even as we are being healed by Jesus." Another fearful response we have in the church is our response to other churches. We often don't minister together with other churches, afraid of their differences, afraid that members from our church may like them better, or afraid that one of us is doing things wrong. That is how the scribes and the Pharisees responded to Jesus. A faithful response is for us to work together. Jesus can bring greater healing through us when we work together as one church, when we respond with boldness and daring.
