In this 22nd episode, Jason Johnson chats with The Cut Creator DJ Outkast about the business aspects of being a DJ and being in the entertainment business. Here is some more about The Cut Creator DJ Outkast: Born Chantry C. Hodge on the island of St Maarten, Dutch West Indies, he knew at a very young age that music would be his life. Experimenting on some old turntables, a CD player and a cassette deck in his basement he immersed himself in the world of music his father left behind when he closed an old family record shop owned for decades. A large selection of singles and LP records of the 70's and 80's were at his fingertips and with a little flourish and perfecting his own performing talent Outkast started playing for birthday parties and other small events at the age of 15. In June 2004, DJ Outkast traveled to Europe for the first time, where he played at venues in Amsterdam & Germany. These events prepared DJ Outkast for what was ahead of him in the coming months as in August, international beer distributor Heineken held its very first Green Synergy DJ Competition, featuring the Caribbean's best DJs. DJ Outkast, the youngest DJ in the competition at age 20, won hands down. As St Maarten's Champion, DJ Outkast placed 2nd in Antigua for the Caribbean finals of the Green Synergy Competition. In 2006 history repeated itself when Outkast won St. Maarten's Competition for a 2nd time. Then went on to The Bahamas to place 2nd in the Caribbean Finals, which was featured on popular Caribbean TV network Tempo. Since the Green Synergy experience, The Cut Creator has been making his mark throughout the Caribbean & Europe. He has been instrumental in promoting St. Maarten through his musical talent. Outkast's quick mixes and energetic style of playing is the reason why his popularity has been on a rise with promoters and fans alike. With a vast travel history in the past 6 years, Outkast has entertained party people in more than 15 countries & over 30 cities in his quest to make himself a household name wherever he plays. In 2009 Outkast was approached by Dj Whoo Kid & Dj Genie Of The Shadyville Djs to create Shadyville Caribbean. A Caribbean branch off of the world-famous Shadyville Dj Fraternity which is also established with Shady/Aftermath & G Unit. Dj Outkast is now signed on and apart of Top Gunners & Shadyville Djs along with Shadyville/Aftermath & G Unit!! Doing St. Maarten Proud!!! In 2010 Outkast made another major step by creating "Back At It Radio" His syndicated radio show that is creating quite a buzz. Syndicating to countries like Curacao', Trinidad & Tobago, New York, Florida, & England among others. Outkast breaks the newest records, breaks down the latest news & counts down the hottest club bangers. In 2011 Outkast traveled to New York where he was featured as a guest DJ on BET's popular countdown show "106 & Park" where he appeared on 3 different show including Wild Out Wednesdays & Freestyle Fridays. Whattup doe! Welcome back to Baltimore County Forever Podcast. It’s Episode 115 and this week, we brought the team back - Aleem, Stacey, and Norm. We start off by catching up. Aleem announces the giveaways for his podcast, The Laptop Chronicles, Stacey updates us on her job, and Norm discusses his new music on the way. After the catch-up, we talk about a few recent Rap Radar episodes: Drake’s episode and him doing Drake things, Griselda’s episode and the group’s evolution, and Roc Marciano’s episode and his strong influence in Hip-Hop. Then we get into this week’s playlist. “Outta Control Remix” by 50 Cent and Mobb Deep is featured, and we talk about Mobb Deep signing to G-Unit, if that was a good move, and what it did for their career. We also have “Let’s Start Rap Over” by The Lox featuring Carl Thomas on the playlist. We each give our picks for which songs we want to hear as the closers at a Lox concert. The options are “Banned From TV,” “All About the Benjamins,” or solo records from any of the three rappers. “Microphone” by Slaughterhouse also made the list. We talk about our first impressions of the group when they dropped and if their switch to Shady/Aftermath was the beginning of the end for them. Tune in for our takes on these songs and the others that made the playlist!! Episode 38: Get Rich of Die Tryin’ #15Years We here at South Shore Ave decided to gas up the DeLorean & taking you back to the first week of February 2003 (Feb 6th to be precise). Shady/Aftermath launched 50 Cent’s debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, one of biggest selling Hip Hop albums of all time, selling over 12 million units. Today on The Ave Podcast, I invite past contributor to South Shore Ave Shawn Adonis (The Notorious B.I.G.’s Ready To Die, Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt, as we discuss the career of 50 Cent pre-Get Rich, break down the album’s impact on the Hip Hop industry, rank our Top 5 songs, and compare the album to the other classic Hip Hop albums of this current century.
