Who to call when looking for a Shero? Shero Comics founder and world builder Shequeta Smith brought the magic of comic creation to the conversation. Today we talk with Shequeta who launched the only all female comic convention in America, SheroCon. Shequeta began her career in entertainment as a college representative for Def Jam/Roc-A-Fella Records. Since 2008, she has been busy writing and directing short films, writing and creating comics, and writing award-winning screenplays that typically feature dynamic women. Shequeta Smith Author, Filmmaker & Founder of Shero Comics Shequeta joins us to discuss her comic book "Rayven Choi". Shequeta Smith's journey from NC State University student to screen writer to comic book creator to founder of Sherocomics is a fascinating and inspiring story. Shequeta shares how her personal experience as a study abroad student in Korea change her view of the world and inspired her to pursue her dream to become a writer. Her writing skills turned towards screenwriting and the story of Ravyen Choi was birth as a screen play. Her script for this story was successful in getting her to the finalist selections for film competitions. Later Shequeta saw the potential to turn Ravyen Choi into a graphic novel. In the interview she share the process of making the Rayven Choi comics and how she uses a diverse team of artists, editors, letterers and colorists from around the globe to produce her books.
