The Impact of AI on the Amazon Community In this engaging and thought-provoking episode of Seller Sessions, Danny McMillan is joined by creative agency veteran Dorian Gorski for a candid conversation about the impact of AI on the creative industry. What starts as a warm-up for Dorian's in-depth interview next week quickly transforms into an illuminating discussion on technology, artistry, and adaptation. ⚡ AI's Disruption in Design and Creativity Dorian opens up about the initial panic felt when AI tools began generating high-quality visuals. “I saw the output and thought, damn, I might be out of a job.” But rather than resisting, Dorian and his agency chose to embrace the wave, recognizing parallels with past revolutions like the advent of Photoshop or the shift from hand-drawing to digital. Danny draws powerful comparisons with the music industry: Musicians once dismissed electronic music as "not real." Then, those same musicians feared the internet (LimeWire) stealing their art. Now, the creators born in that era are pushing back against AI-generated tracks.

John Panaccione, CEO and Co-Founder of Folla Capital, is on a mission to change that. In today's episode, John explained how his experience as a veteran has shaped his passion for helping others in the veteran and minority business communities succeed.“I've had to live through running a business, owning a business, and raising capital,” John said. “I felt firsthand some of the challenges that we have there, but now, doing what I do, I just love helping fellow veterans and women- or minority-owned businesses deal with some of the unique challenges that we need to face.”Folla Capital, where John serves as CEO, is a registered broker-dealer that supports clients in conducting regulation crowdfunding offerings. Their goal is to make financing more accessible for underserved communities. By leveraging tools like Reg CF and Reg D exemptions, John and his team help entrepreneurs overcome the systemic barriers that have historically excluded them from funding opportunities.John shared several success stories from his work, including one about helping a veteran-owned software company called Oplign. The business, which helps veterans translate their military experience into civilian qualifications, raised nearly $700,000 through a Reg CF campaign. John reflected on the pride he feels when clients succeed. “There's nothing better than when somebody calls me and says, ‘Hey, two years ago you helped me, and now we're killing it.' That's the biggest reward I experience.”John's work is more than just helping companies raise money—it's about building communities. Highlighting the importance of both geographic and demographic connections, he explained how Folla Capital fosters networks that empower entrepreneurs. “Crowdfunding is wonderful,” he said, “but at the end of the day, a lot of the money ends up coming from people that have some connection with the management team.”Through Folla Capital, John is leveling the playing field for veterans and other underrepresented entrepreneurs. His work proves that with the right tools and support, these communities can thrive, creating not just businesses but stronger, more inclusive communities. If you're inspired by John's mission, stay tuned for more insights later in the episode about his superpower and how he uses it to empower others.tl;dr:John Panaccione discussed the challenges veterans and minority entrepreneurs face when raising capital.Folla Capital helps entrepreneurs succeed using tools like Reg CF and Reg D exemptions.Success stories highlight the importance of building both geographic and demographic communities.John's superpower is leveling the playing field by teaching the rules entrepreneurs need to know.Entrepreneurs can achieve success by exceeding standards, building networks, and fostering resilience. How to Develop Leveling the Playing Field As a SuperpowerJohn's superpower is “leveling the playing field.” He explained, “I've learned that most people that have goals are leaders. If they know the rules, they can compete.” John prides himself on being a teacher who ensures that entrepreneurs understand the standards and rules of raising capital, empowering them to create their own success. He emphasized, “We don't want to be the smart people with all the answers. We like to pride ourselves on being teachers.”Illustrative Story:One of John's proudest success stories involves helping a group of veterans open an indoor skydiving iFly facility in Wilmington, North Carolina. Despite skepticism and challenges, the team raised $1 million via a Reg CF campaign to unlock a $12 million financing package. This funding transformed an empty lot into a thriving business, showcasing how understanding the rules and applying them effectively can bring ambitious projects to life.Tips for Developing This Superpower:Learn the Rules: Familiarize yourself with the standards and regulations in your field.Aim Higher Than the Standard: Strive to exceed the minimum requirements for quality and preparation.Teach Others: Share your knowledge to empower others, rather than positioning yourself as the “expert.”Build Community: Leverage both geographic and demographic networks to support your goals.Practice Resilience: Don't be discouraged by skepticism—focus on proving doubters wrong through action.By following John's example and advice, you can make leveling the playing field a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileJohn Panaccione ("Pana-chone" (he/him):CEO & Co-Founder, Folla CapitalAbout Folla Capital: Folla Capital is an SEC-registered broker-dealer. The imbalance of power in the courtroom is often very real whether that's a David vs. Goliath battle pitting a small-firm plaintiff against a corporate giant, or a situation where a judgment-proof or anonymous defendant evades accountability. The scales of justice are sometimes uneven. Guests Marcus Chatterton and Fred Tecce are veteran litigators who have found themselves in countless courtroom skirmishes opposing all manner of large and small businesses in a variety of corporate, patent, trademark, criminal, and personal injury issues. They explain how tech can help balance an imbalance of resources. Deep pockets may have been an advantage, whether that's in the form of available manpower or the ultimate ability to pay a claim. But that doesn't have to be the case. Modern, novel legal approaches and today's tech tools can help level the playing field as software programs can analyze mountains of evidence that used to require hours of poring through boxes of paper that could overwhelm small firms. “Technology assisted review” is a growing field. Will AI further help attorneys battle an information dump in discovery or chase down anonymous actors and follow online breadcrumbs? The key is pairing legal skills and experience with tech, not only learning to use the newest tools but also learning to explain the findings and methodology to a judge and jury. Technology is changing everything from the way you prepare for trial to the way you present your case. Whether you're a “Goliath” with a duty to assemble and turn over mountains of discovery, or a “David” faced with digging through that evidence and uncovering precedents that back your client, tech tools are blazing a new trail. Traditional naming methods, unchanged for decades, alongside crowded markets have led to shrinking white space, high attrition rates and weakened brand strategies. In this episode, Joe Daley, president of Addison Whitney, powered by Syneos Health, explores how Ari, the industry's first AI-driven naming platform, is breaking through these barriers. By integrating real-time regulatory and trademark screening, Ari expands creative white space within set guardrails, empowering deeper strategic exploration and compliance like never before possible — reducing risk while increasing creativity. This week on Power House, Diego sits down with a familiar face to the HousingWire audience — Jason Bressler, the Chief Technology Officer at United Wholesale Mortgage. UWM recently announced its partnership with Sphere LOS, and today's episode is a behind-the-scenes look at what that means for the UWM team and beyond. Diego and Jason talk about the decision-making behind Sphere's integration, as it's both free and is not limited to UWM's ecosystem. Their goal is to provide free technology to level the playing field in the mortgage space. Jason also talks about AI breakthroughs, his philosophy of failure for team members, and gives a sneak peek of upcoming UWM announcements in 2025. Here's what you'll learn: UWM's integration with Sphere is aimed at enhancing broker workflows. The mortgage industry lacks a seamless end-to-end system, which Sphere aims to provide. AI is revolutionizing the mortgage industry, whether you realize it or not. Creating a feedback loop within your company's ecosystem brings ideas to fruition. UWM's innovation focus can be seen in their large tech team and devoted resources. Failing is the most important part of taking risks and innovating. With her debut feature documentary film Queens of Concrete, Eliza Cox takes audiences on a seven year journey with three skateboarders: Ava Godfrey, Charlotte Heath, and Hayley Wilson. They each embrace a different style of skateboarding, with street and park being the two styles that are featured at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics. It's that 2020 Olympics that the girls have their sights set on, with Eliza following their journey from the skateparks of Melbourne to the sponsored events in London and LA, to boarding schools dedicated to bringing up the next generation of skaters. There's an inherent drama to skateboarding - you never know if the skater is going to fall, what they're going to pull off, and how they're going to take a risky jump - and that's paired well with the inherent drama of being a teenager turning into an adult. Or, in the case of Charlotte, a kid turning into a teenager. Each of the girls has their own life journey to follow, and Eliza's dedicated observational lens follows them in a caring and considered manner. This is not a director simply documenting the lives of their subjects, but supporting their journey in an empathetic manner.Queens of Concrete moves in the same vein as the great skating docos of the turn of the millennium, with Eliza noting the impact that Dogtown and Z-Boys had on her work. As a viewer, I couldn't help but feel the pull of Eddie Martin's excellent All This Mayhem, a film which also hails from the streets of Melbourne. Either way, the impact of sports documentaries is a strong one on Eliza's creative vision.I caught up with Eliza ahead of the AIDC panel Levelling the Playing Field: Celebrating Trailblazers in Sports Docs, where she joins fellow documentarians Frances Elliott, who co-directed Renee Gracie: Fireproof, and Marlee Silva, of the upcoming film Skin in the Game. In the following interview, we talk about her journey into filmmaking, what it means to be a supportive director, the choice behind making a sports film about girls or a film about girls who skate, and a lot more.If you're in Naarm-Melbourne this weekend, then make yourself known and head along to ACMI on Monday 3 March where you can catch Levelling the Playing Field, alongside a stack more great panels and events at the Australian International Documentary Conference. In this week's Thursday Thought, we explore the crucial role of 'Helpful Cassandras'—individuals with heightened perceptions of change within business environments. Drawing on analogies from nature, quotes from visionaries like Warren Buffet and Andy Grove, and the concept of 'Umwelt' by Jakob von Uexküll, we discuss how different sensory frameworks shape our understanding of market shifts and disruptions. The episode highlights the importance of recognizing and supporting these perceptive individuals to stay ahead of crises and seize new opportunities. Don't miss out on the launch of The Reinvention Summit, featuring a workshop led by Rita McGrath on early warnings and trend detection. 00:00 Introduction: Focus on the Playing Field 00:30 The Role of Helpful Cassandras 00:46 Developing Organizational Antennas 01:53 Understanding Umwelt in Business 03:14 Rodents: Masters of Olfactory Perception 04:26 Economic Signals: Smelling the Sausage 06:45 The Cassandra Story: Andy Grove and the Helpful Cassandras 09:16 Embracing Early Warnings 10:51 Conclusion: Join The Reinvention Summit Article: Navigating Change: The Hidden Scents, Sausages and Trip Wires “Games are won by players who focus on the playing field - not by those whose eyes are glued to the scoreboard.” - Warren Buffet. Just as different species perceive their environments in unique ways, individuals within a business environment experience and interpret the world around them through their subjective lenses. Some of these individuals—like modern-day Cassandras—are particularly attuned to early signs of change or disruption, but their warnings are often ignored. Using the analogy of rodents' heightened sense of smell, we explore how these Helpful Cassandras can guide companies away from crisis or towards new opportunities.yet are frequently overlooked. Embracing their foresight is crucial to navigating an uncertain future. "The capacity of an organization to read its environment somewhere out there, which requires hiring some people whose sole job is to pay attention to the things that we're not paying attention to. If you think about any system, any [00:01:00] creature has only certain antennas. Which means that those antennas allow them to be in touch with this part of the world and not that part of the world. And they get in trouble when the world suddenly has something as a threat to them that they have no antennas for. So it's very important in an organization to develop the capacity here to have these kind of emergent antennas. And or to have at least parts of things that are paying attention to what people are not paying attention to, because, in most every case, when a crisis is coming, there are people who know nobody wants to listen to them because things are going well. And you certainly don't help your career by talking about them. So I think organizations, if they want to really be on the edge of things, have to build in as capacity here to surveil parts of environment. That it has not been paying very much attention to." - Stan Deetz, Innovation Show 559 Jakob von Uexküll was a pioneering biologist interested in how living beings perceive their environments. [00:02:00] He argued that organisms experience life through species-specific, subjective reference frames he called Umwelt (The German word for environment). Each species experiences the world through its own unique sensory lens. A tick, for instance, uses the smell of butyric acid to locate a mammalian host, while a star-nosed mole relies on touch to navigate underground. Despite sharing the same physical space, animals perceive their surroundings in vastly different ways. This idea of Umwelt applies not only to biology but also to how individuals in a business environment interpret signals of change. In the business world, we each operate with different sensory frameworks. Some colleagues are tuned into technological advances, others are adept at...

We love our sports in America. From little league to professional competition, athletic teams can bring us together. However sports can also spotlight some of our most pointed social, culture and racial debates. Mascot names drive a wedge between fans. Some athletes choose to display their opinions about political candidates or police violence. In this episode of Us & Them, host Trey Kay looks at the intersection of race and sports. Lawsuits over youth football in West Virginia have highlighted questions between teams and leagues over who's allowed to play and whether young Black and brown athletes face discrimination. While some parents accuse the youth leagues of foul play, the leagues say some parents are simply not following the rules.
Playing professional sports on the biggest stage is the ultimate goal for most athletes. But not for NFL player Dalton Risner. Listen as the Minnesota Vikings offensive lineman shares with us how a humble upbringing in a rural town, surrounded by loving parents and many siblings, drew him closer to Jesus. For Dalton, the real victory is the loving marriage he shares with his wife, Whitney, and the work he pours into the non-profit he created to help kids in need, RisnerUp. Risner established his foundation based on 1 Peter 4:10, which also is tattooed on his forearm: "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." Words to live by, indeed! Our prayer is that today's conversation would remind you that no matter where you are, what you do, or what season you find yourself in, God has a special plan and purpose for your life and He wants to use you right where He has you! Remember, God can do wonders with a willing and obedient heart!
