Först sänd 2018-11-05.Klockan 08.00 checkar jag in på Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset. Jag ska operera bort min livmoder. Ett halvår tidigare var jag nära att förblöda. Jag hade föreläst sex timmar i sträck och cyklade därefter hemåt; konstant blödande. Halvvägs över Göta älvbron var jag tvungen att stanna för att spy. Rakt ut i vattnet. Väl hemkommen tog jag av mig de blodiga kläderna. Det var inte lönt att klä på mig igen. Jag skakade okontrollerat och min kropp var ett öppet sår. Endast kvinnor blöder, tänkte jag uppgivet medan ambulansen var på väg.Jag har aldrig sett moderskapet som det som definierar mig som människa. Ändå är det med viss sorg jag inser att det organ som mest intimt förknippas med kvinnlig reproduktion ska skäras loss och avlägsnas. På Wikipedia står det att livmodern är ”ett honligt sexualorgan som finns hos alla däggdjur med undantag av kloakdjuren.” Kanske är det ett kloakdjur omgivningen nu kommer att uppfatta mig som? Det är emellertid inte den liknelsen som känns obehaglig när sköterskan tar blodprov och sätter i dropp. Det är upplevelsen av hur lätt och snabbt det går att bli främmande inför sig själv i en utsatt situation som håller mig i ett spöklikt grepp.Jag har berövats den mask som får mig att känna mig kvinnlig.I spegeln framför mig ser jag en människa. Men det är inte mig själv jag ser. Jag har inte ens fått behålla mitt röda nagellack. Dessutom har jag tvingats tvätta mig med bakteriedödande tvål fyra gånger, utan att smörja in mig efteråt. Vit som snö och torr som fnöske fryser jag, fast jag klätts i sjuhusdräkt. Jag har berövats den mask som får mig att känna mig kvinnlig.Enlig sociologen Robert E Park beror det ”inte enbart på en historisk tillfällighet att ordet person ursprungligen betyder mask. Det rör sig snarare om ett erkännande av att alla alltid och överallt, mer eller mindre medvetet, spelar en roll … Det är i dessa roller som vi känner varandra; det är i dessa roller som vi känner oss själva… i samma mån som den masken representerar den uppfattning vi har bildat om oss själva – den roll som vi strävar efter att leva upp till – är den masken vårt sannare jag, det jag som vi skulle vilja vara.”Han är en livs levande människa, som med humorn som vapen lyckas behålla sin personliga identitet intakt.För att skaka av mig obehaget tjuvlyssnar jag på mannen som ligger i sängen bredvid. Jag tyckte han såg lustig ut när han nyss kom gåendes i en sjukhusdräkt som var identiskt med min. Han skämtar med sjukvårdspersonalen som konstaterat att han är för lång för operationsbordet. Fötterna dinglar utanför. ”Kanske ska ni kapa mina ben också när ni ändå är i farten” föreslår han. Det blir tyst ett kort ögonblick och sedan säger en av sköterskorna: ”Det är märkligt att sjukvården inte hängt med. Människor blir längre och längre, men inte sjukhussängarna och operationsborden”. Hon hade faktiskt tänkt på hur det skulle gå för hennes man, som var två meter och fyra centimeter lång, om han behövde opereras. Mannen i sjukhussängen bredvid min berättar att han är en och nittiosju, om han inte krympt sedan han fick ett träd i huvudet. ”Ett träd i huvudet” frågar sköterskan. ”Ja, det är förmodligen därför jag är här; trä mot trä”.Mannen som nu ligger på ett operationsbord hinner inte säga så mycket mer innan han rullas iväg. Men det räcker. Han är inte längre en för lång kropp i lånade kläder som förflyttats från en sjukhussäng till ett operationsbord han inte riktigt får plats på. Han är en livs levande människa, som med humorn som vapen lyckas behålla sin personliga identitet intakt, i mötet med sjukhuspersonalen.Jag försätts själv i en liknande situation när en av de två kirurgerna som ska operera mig kommer för att presentera sig. Han är dansk och ursäktar sig för sin dåliga svenska som hans kollegor ofta misstar för lättförståelig danska. Jag säger att han inte behöver ursäkta sig. Eftersom jag arbetat i Danmark ett par år förstår jag utan minsta problem hans svenska. Jag vet att han försöker skämta med mig för att lätta upp stämningen. Han försöker också få mig att känna mig trygg när han säger att jag är den perfekta patienten för den titthålsoperation som ska utföras; smal, frisk och har fött barn. Dessutom informerar han mig om att han gjort den här typen av operation ungefär trehundra gånger tidigare.Det hjälper lite. Ändå undrar jag hur de ska få ut livmodern. En av sköterskorna hade sagt att den tas ut genom titthållen, men det kunde väl knappast stämma? Nej, det gjorde det inte. ”Du vet, samma väg som ett barn kommer ut, kan man slita loss hela underlivet” konstaterar den danske kirurgen med viss humor och värme. Sedan frågar han om jag vill att han ska ta äggledarna också när han ändå rör sig i de regionerna. Det finns nämligen ett par vetenskapliga studier som visar att det radikalt minskar risken för cancer i äggstockarna senare i livet. Visserligen finns det också ett par vetenskapliga studier som visar att man kan hamna i klimakteriet ett par månader i förväg om man gör så. ”Det är helt upp till dig. Du bestämmer” säger den danske kirurgen som jag först nu uppfattar namnet på.Han heter Jacob. Jacob med c. Naturligtvis har han redan sagt sitt namn, men nu ser jag det också på namnbrickan som är fastnålad vid hans bröstficka. Jag tittar upp och svarar att valet mellan cancer och klimakteriet inte känns särskilt svårt. Virginia Wolf har i och för sig beskrivit det som att sitta ”blottad på en hög klippavsats i full dagsljus. Mycket ensam. Mycket onyttigt…” Jacob avbryter mig och säger med allvar i rösten: ”Om du var min fru hade jag opererat bort äggledarna utan att fråga dig. Eller om du var en nära släkting” lägger han snabbt till.Man kan då inte reduceras till en livmoder som gjort sitt. Inte heller till yttre attribut som förknippas med kvinnlighet.Det intressanta är att vårt samtal får mig att släppa obehaget som avpersonifieringen jag genomgått medfört. Jag upplever mig inte längre som en vit och bakteriefri kropp att sätta kniven i. Jag känner tillit till att Jacobs attityd inte enbart är slentrianmässig yrkesskicklighet. Jag upplever det inte heller som att jag pådyvlas hans åsikter. Istället lyckas vårt samtal få mig att träda fram på ett delvis nytt sätt. I Jacobs ansikte återspeglas jag bortom rekvisita och roller, men ändå som en person med såväl historia som framtid. Jacob är inte enbart en tillräknelig gynekolog med kunskap om den senaste forskningen på området, utan inkluderar både mitt och sitt eget liv i den situation vi befinner oss i.Istället för att ingå i en ”Jag-Det relation” upprättas en ”Jag-Du relation”. Filosofen Martin Buber menar att Jag-Du är ett grundord som innebär att man inte behandlar den andre som ett ting bland andra ting eller som något som består av ting. Man kan då inte reduceras till en livmoder som gjort sitt. Inte heller till yttre attribut som förknippas med kvinnlighet.Det är detta förhållningssätt som får mig att våga det ödeshopp som krävs för att under narkos tillfälligt förlora mig och sedan vakna upp starkare och friare än förut. I den bästa av världar kommer jag vara en kvinna som inte blöder och som oavsett det oönskade tomrummet inuti kan ta emot den nåd som genuin mellanmänsklighet eller möte mellan Du och Jag innebär.Vad lär man i ett sådant möte känna av varandra? Inget alls, eftersom man inte kan lära känna den andre. Vad vet man då om varandra? Bara allt, eftersom man inte längre vet något enskilt. Med detta menas att ingen förkunskap och ingen fantasi krävs när man möter den andre som ett Du istället för ett Det. Man upptäcker varandra på ett sätt som kastar en ur isolering; själva minnet omvandlas så att en okänd framtid blir möjlig att gå till mötes. Den andre framstår i sin helhet. Rīgas Laikmetīgās mākslas telpā atklāta izstāde "Kā tu šodien jūties? Emociju pratība", kurā 28 Latvijas mākslinieku darbi aicina pievērsties emociju pasaulei. Izstādes kuratores Daiga Rudzāte un Una Meistere uzsver – māksla var palīdzēt atpazīt sajūtas, kuras ikdienā bieži paliek nepamanītas vai neizteiktas. Izstādes ideja dzimusi sarunās par emociju pratību Izstādes pirmsākumi meklējami pirms aptuveni septiņiem gadiem, kad sadarbībā ar ģimenes ārsti un toreizējo Latvijas Ārstu biedrības prezidenti Ilzi Aizsilnieci tika aizsākts diskusiju cikls par emociju pratību. "Mūsdienu zinātne jau sen ir pierādījusi, ka emocijām ir ārkārtīga nozīme ne tikai mūsu garīgajā, bet arī fiziskajā veselībā," stāsta Una Meistere. Viņa uzsver, ka māksla ir viena no valodām, kas palīdz cilvēkam pietuvoties savai emocionālajai pasaulei un ieraudzīt to, ko ikdienā ne vienmēr iespējams izteikt vārdos. Pēc Aizsilnieces aiziešanas mūžībā projekta veidotāji nolēmuši iesākto turpināt plašākā formātā. Tā radusies izstāde "Kā tu šodien jūties? Emociju pratība", kuru papildina arī četras grāmatas sērijā "Veselīga Latvija". Sešas emocijas kā ceļvedis izstādes telpā Izstādes pamatā ir amerikāņu psihologa Pola Ekmana (Paul Ekman) teorija par sešām universālām emocijām: prieku, bailēm, skumjām, pārsteigumu, riebumu un dusmām. "Zālē esam izveidojuši sava veida režģi, kur emocijas savstarpēji pārklājas, bet reprezentēts tiek prieks, bailes, skumjas, pārsteigums, riebums un dusmas," skaidro izstādes kuratores. Viņas tomēr uzsver, ka šis dalījums nav uztverams burtiski. "Neviens no šiem darbiem nav absolūti kristāltīra konkrētā emocija. Tur atrodas visu emociju sajaukums, tās klejo, saplūst un pārklājas savā starpā." Katrs skatītājs emocijas piedzīvos citādi Darbu izvietojums izstādē tapis ilgās diskusijās, taču kuratores atzīst, ka mākslas uztvere vienmēr ir subjektīva. "Mēs ļoti daudz par to savstarpēji sarunājāmies. Šīs zonas ir ārkārtīgi nosacītas, jo tās tiešām viena ar otru saplūst un pārklājas." Izstādes centrā izvietoti spoguļi ar jautājumiem, kas mudina apmeklētājus ieskatīties sevī un pārdomāt savas emocijas. "Mēs katrs pasauli uztveram pilnīgi savādāk – atkarībā no savas pieredzes, jūtīguma un tā, ko esam redzējuši." Latvijas laikmetīgās mākslas minivārdnīca Izstādē pārstāvēti 28 dažādu paaudžu autori – no atzītiem mākslas klasiķiem līdz pavisam jauniem māksliniekiem. "Tā savā veidā ir Latvijas šodienas mākslas minivārdnīciņa," saka Una Meistere. Lielākā daļa darbu atlasīti mākslinieku darbnīcās vai no Latvijas Nacionālā mākslas muzeja krājuma. Speciāli izstādei radīti vien daži darbi. Ekspozīcijā sastopami šādi autori: Kristaps Ancāns, Ēriks Apaļais, Ilmārs Blumbergs, Kristians Brekte, Andris Breže, Aleksandrs Breže, Anna Ceipe, Kristiāna Dimitere, Reinis Dzudzilo, Miķelis Fišers, Indriķis Ģelzis, Helēna Heinrihsone, Brenda Jansone, Marks Halsons, Frančeska Kirke, Maija Kurševa, Katrīna Lipšāne, Laimdota Malle, Sarmīte Māliņa, MAREUNROL'S, Ģirts Muižnieks, Pauls Rietums, Ilze Rukšāne, Līga Spunde, Krista Vindberga-Auzniece, Artūrs Virtmanis, Amanda Ziemele, Otto Zitmanis, Paula Zvane. Visvairāk darbu atrasts skumju sadaļai Veidojot ekspozīciju, izrādījies, ka visvieglāk bijis atrast darbus, kas sasaucas ar skumju tēmu. "Ar skumjām mēs varētu aizpildīt vēl vienu zāli," atzīst kuratores. Kā iespējamo skaidrojumu viņas min ziemeļnieku mentalitāti, saules trūkumu un garās ziemas. Savukārt sarežģītāk bijis atrast darbus, kas saistās ar riebumu: "Ar to riebumu katram ir ļoti individuālas attiecības." Izstāde – daļa no Jeila Universitātes pētījuma Izstāde nav tikai mākslas notikums. Tā iekļauta arī Jeila Universitātes pētījumā par mākslas ietekmi uz cilvēku. Katram apmeklētājam būs iespēja iesaistīties pētījumā, izvēloties vienu darbu, kas raisa visspēcīgākās emocijas, atbildot uz jautājumiem par savu pieredzi. "Tā pamatideja ir saprast, kā mūs ietekmē māksla, ko mēs sajūtam un par ko tā liek aizdomāties." Kuratores uzskata, ka māksla ir viens no retajiem instrumentiem, kas mūsdienu sadrumstalotajā pasaulē palīdz cilvēkam apstāties un pievērsties sev. Izstādi papildinās lekcijas un diskusijas Izstādes laikā notiks plaša publiskā programma, kurā piedalīsies filozofi, psihologi, ārsti, mākslinieki un mūziķi. Viens no gaidītākajiem notikumiem būs britu neirozinātnieka Daniela Glasera (Daniel Glaser) vieslekcija septembrī. Savukārt jau jūlijā par emociju uztveri Austrumu kultūrās stāstīs filozofs Kaspars Eihmanis. Nav labu un sliktu emociju Sarunas noslēgumā izstādes veidotājas uzsver, ka emocijas nevajadzētu dalīt pozitīvās un negatīvās. "Nav jau labu un sliktu emociju. Viņas visas eksistē kā viens kopums, un mēs nedrīkstam tās sevī noliegt, bet izmantot tā, lai tās mums patiešām palīdzētu." Savukārt uz jautājumu, kādas emocijas viņas pašas ikdienā izjūt visbiežāk, atbilde ir vienkārša – prieks, interese un pārsteigums. "Kamēr mēs saglabājam sevī vēlmi uzzināt un zinātkāri, mēs esam dzīvi un turpinām attīstīties."
