Feel free to kill Morgan off instead of shipping him off to your other series. Nobody would be sad about his gruesome demise. Feels like we're getting a collection of characters that the show doesn't quite know what to do with. It's like a game of gin rummy with no battle plan for victory. This was a good episode though. Rick kills people to service his eventual turn at the end of the season. That is the only reason he does it. www.LIWstudios.com youtube.com/loiteringinwonderland loiteringinwonderland@gmail.com

This podcast contains the flu, and spoilers for both the show and the comic. I had at the flu during this review. Hey, that rhymes! I felt like the walking dead so it’s only appropriate that I review The Walking Dead, Season 8, Episode 14 “Still Gotta Mean Something”. For the past few seasons, The Walking Dead has had some good episodes in a mostly dark sucky void of awful. So did this episode continue the trend of awful and cringeworthy or did it shine a bright light across the void? I review the show and then play my thoughts about the episode, during the episode itself. Show notes: INTRO -I have the flu -My thoughts on The Walking Dead, these past few seasons -The last great episode -Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan -My hopes and expectations -How I usually watch The Walking Dead REVIEW -What I thought of the episode -Concentrating on certain characters -Were my expectations met? -What this episode did correctly -Plugs! This past Sunday was WrestleMania 34. Since we are big fans of the WWE, we figured we might as well record our thoughts on the show. So, we sat down Monday evening, and discussed how we felt about each of the matches. How did Ronda Rousey's in-ring debut go? Did Styles/Nakamura live up to the hype? Did The Undertaker ever answer John Cena? Also, we have Casey's minute recaps for two episodes of The Walking Dead, "Do Not Send Us Astray" and "Still Gotta Mean Something."

The Talking Dead - A podcast dedicated to the AMC TV series The Walking Dead
Rick takes a dark turn, Negan has some time with Jadis, and Carol goes out looking for Henry. Tune in this week for our full recap of The Walking Dead season 8 episode 14, “Still Gotta Mean Something”, along with some of your Holy crap moments, and feedback! — Please send us your comments, thoughts...
Talking Through Still Gotta Mean Something On this episode number 78 of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Mark and I talk through Season 8, Episode 14 of The Walking Dead, which is titled Still Gotta Mean Something. This episode was written by Eddie Guzelian, and directed by Michael E. Satrazemis. Action and Heart! This was another great episode. This had action, but it also had character moments. You KNOW what it is!!! Don’t you??? Morgan is haunted by those words again, from the ghost of troubled kid Henry… except that Henry wasn’t dead after all. He went out there to kill those Savior escapees. Boy, that Jared death was both gruesome, and satisfying! If any character deserved to die, it was Jared. Hero Carol! Carol, after going her separate ways with Morgan, finds Henry, under a tree that looked suspiciously just like the tree Sophia was supposed to hide underway back in Season 2. It was the same tree, by the way, in real life, though they are far away from the suburban Atlanta that the characters were back then. What if Carol found Sophia back then? She definitely was a different character in Season 2. I thought that was a good tie in, as we see other tie-ins to past episodes and seasons elsewhere in this episode. Carol is a lot of things but a coward is not one of them. Read the darn letter, Rick!!! Rick, on the other hand, uses the words of Alden, and things he’s said back in S2E8 Nebraska, S4E8 Too Far Gone, and S7E3 Monsters, to entice the Savior escapees to return with them to The Hilltop, but he had other plans. It seems that several of them are lured in, help Rick and Morgan escape, and one of them even kills a walker that was about to get Rick. By the way, I forgot to mention it on the podcast, but I noticed one of the escapees actually called them walkers, so I think they were genuinely interested in coming back to The Hilltop. However, Rick was lying the whole time, and never intended on doing anything but killing them. I know Carl had other ideas, and really, this is the first time in a long while where I had to question Rick’s intentions. More on that below. Rick gives the hatchet to the guy that saved him just seconds before. I thought the moment after, when Rick asked Morgan why he saved him back in King County, was a little forced and didn’t seem like something the characters would have discussed at that time, had Morgan been staying on TWD. I understood why it was there, but would have appreciated a more natural scene for it. Jadis and Negan, sitting in a dump… The scenes with Jadis during and after the massacre were very interesting, but I had an issue with that slip. That didn’t look like it would fit under that coat, plus she had pants on! I don’t know why it was important to have her in that slip… though it shows off Pollyanna McIntosh. Judging her by her appearance on Talking Dead really cleans up well. Really well. I find myself actually CARING for her now, and she was a character I couldn’t stand just a few short weeks ago. Damn you, writers!!! What was more interesting was the interaction between Jadis and Negan. Negan, strangely, felt more human in this episode than Rick did. The lines have finally blurred some for me. I don’t appreciate how he’s shaped the world according to HIS plan, but he actually shows genuine concern for Jadis, though he spoils it some by saying she can have it all back. When you talk about people being a resource, you disassociate them from who they really are: People. You treat them as things you can exploit, as tools, and not as individuals. This hits home for me, given the recent issues I have been dealing with outside from this podcast. The Helicopter… We see the helicopter again, without any explanation as far as who’s it is and w

In which there is much nerdy yelling about the next-to-next-to-last episode of the season. Talking points include: Rick's hotness/moral bankruptcy correlation, whether or not a Negan redemption arc is working or can work, why Carol is so inexpressibly great, Morgan as a Biblical prophet, Carl as a saint, holy relics in the ZA in general, what's with all the callbacks, and WHAT IS WITH THE DAMN HELICOPTER Music featured in this episode is by Ketsa - http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Ketsa/ Enjoying Keep Singing? Three great episodes and our long awaited ‘I love you’?! What a time to be alive! The Walking Dead delivered some emotional gut punches this week and some real *gasp* character growth. With callbacks to Andre, Duane, "Clear," Sophia and Carl we witnessed some of our group grapple with what it means to lose a child. For Carol, it meant facing her fears and heading out in search of Henry the Avenger who she feared to be dead. Upon finding him very much alive she apologized to him, and we believe to all of the children she felt she failed before him. (RIP Sophia, Lizzie, Mika, and Benjamin the Doomed. Also Sam. We guess.) We still aren’t sure why the Kang didn’t go out looking for his adopted son, but we were definitely still here for the intimacy shared between him and Carol. We saw that hand holding action! Rick and Michonne’s first on screen "I love you" came without pomp and circumstance, which we appreciated. It was as if they’d said it many times before. But for as much as we loved that moment, we do wish we had been privy to their previous conversations about Andre. As always, Andy and Danai leave us breathless with the tenderness and the chemistry they have with each other. That tenderness was definitely MIA when it came to Rick and the Saviors, however. We get it. We hate 'em too. But there was something about how Rick straight up lied that left us feeling a bit unnerved. Morgan may be residing in crazy town right now, but he didn’t give the Saviors any false pretenses. He let them know real quick what his plan was and boy, did he fulfill it! Ding Dong the dirty old hipster Jared is finally dead! Lastly, we still super don’t care about Negan or Jadis and her Airbnb. She passed on many opportunities to silence Negan forever further proving that there’s no good reason she should still be here. We are curious about this helicopter business though. Jim and A.Ron are here to, sort of backhandedly compliment the latest episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead. It’s one of the better recent episodes, but the unfortunate thing is all of the moments and beats they come really close to nailing here are ones that have been so worn through mindless repetition to the point we’re incapable of feeling anything but boredom. But yeah, Andrew Lincoln, Denai Gurira, and Lenni James really know how to act, and work their professional asses off to sell this material. Oh, and Rat-Faced Jesus has a very satisfying character development. Just two episodes left! See you next week. Contacted/Recruited by Georgie? * The only thing we know, for sure, about Jadis: she's made contact with whomever controls the helicopter, but her Scavenger life had meaning to her * For the first time, instead of pinning his horrible actions on others, neurotically, #Negan not only apologizes for the act but assumes responsibility for Simon's actions, as a leader * Who Does Negan pick up on the way to #TheSanctuary? Sherry? Gregory? Laura? We're banking on the latter, but still... so many implications * ...but the person on the most shaky ground is Negan: his top people are either dead or untrustworthy. So much for #TeamNegan, Carol * Disappointing: sneak peaks from last week presented us with #Rosita & #DarylDixon surveying #EugenePorter outside The Machine Shop, but it's all they present us with in Episode 14 * ...but Episode 15 may finally take out the final top person, Regina, from Negan's cabinet, leaving Negan without anyone he can trust * The characters we love to hate and the adorable actors that play them. #RIPJared: his death was not like Noah's, but the gore isn't why we watch #TheWalkingDead * ...When the #comics collide with the show: introducing disruptive characters that humanize over time... some longer than others (AKA Negan) * #RIPTaryl: #Tara is officially walking away from her Dwight vendetta, leaving Daryl to, hopefully, figure it out, as well. But will the show allow Dwight & Daryl to survive, post conflict? * ...Who, on this show, is safe? So far, heavily tweaked characters and characters that weren't in the comic (who aren't meant to be killed), seem the safest * Rick, #MorganJones, and #CarolPeletier: Carol is able to find a way back, proving her indomitable strength on #TWD. It's nice to see she her claim a win * So many other callbacks: Rick's/#CarlGrimes' sheriff's hat; "A Man's Word", itself, is a callback to (his negotiation with) The Prison(ers) * Negan and Rick: Negan has an unwavering ethos, but no binding loyalty. Rick is emotionally unstable, but has a terrific support system. I hope they never switch * Rick not saving any Escapee makes Al uneasy * More callbacks: #Michonne tells Rick how Andrea brought her back to a point where she could imagine a future; Morgan is forced to admit that he saved Rick (in the 1st episode) because his boy was with him * All the callbacks thread together: the loss of their loved ones forced them to maintain their humanity, to keep them safe, to do the right things, and to build a better life * ...what would their motivation be without them? Morgan is a wake-up call * Sneak Peak * Aaron having trouble at Oceanside... seeing the state of him, will Oceanside find a way to join the fight? * #KingEzekiel & Jadis fake it till they make it * The two times characters in the episode say, "I'm sorry," and the two times the response was, "You don't ever have to be sorry." * ...has Morgan finally shaken out of his funk? Enough to be able to transition healthily to #FearTheWalkingDead? * With more mysteries popping up and only two episodes left, let's hope they can wrap this season as neatly as humanly possible! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/squawkingdead/message
So it's an interesting episode this week...For the first time ever we all actually watched the episode together live and then recorded straight after the episode...We'll let you decide if that's a good thing or not, although with this being a weaker episode somethings we couldn't hold back on!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/fan-critical-a-tv-and-film-podcast/donations
