Her ability to include ways to improve your cognitive skills in a way that improves your running is fantastic in that she doesn't simply explain the subject she provides the tools. I signed up for her Begin With Ten program as well specifically to work on this though the simple "readiness reset" will be enough to get started for most. Thank You, Claire. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐So positive and helpful!
The Carey Nieuwhof Leadership Podcast: Lead Like Never Before
Should you use AI to write your sermon? Maybe not. Three years after ChatGPT, we don't just sound the same. We're starting to think the same, or not think at all. Enter brain rot. Carey walks through seven tells that give away AI writing, shows you how to find the voice only you have, and unpacks a new study on cognitive surrender that every pastor needs to hear before next Sunday's sermon.
CISOs have a stack of tools but no system built to run the security program itself. Mike Armistead wants to fix that.In this episode I sit down with Mike Armistead, co-founder and CEO of Pulse Security AI and a longtime security founder behind Fortify and Respond Software. We dig into why the security leader has never had a system of truth the way the CFO has an ERP and the CRO has a CRM, and how an agentic layer on top of the existing tools can finally close that gap. Mike is measured about where AI gets to decide and where the human stays in the seat, and he shares what surprised him most from research with more than 80 senior practitioners and corporate directors. In this episode:- Why two exits later Mike came back to build a third company around the AI wave- The silos that left CISOs with an acronym soup of tools and no way to run the program- What a system of truth for the CISO actually means and how it layers on top of existing structured and unstructured data- Where agents do the heavy lifting on regulatory monitoring, vendor intelligence, and status reporting- Governing the guardrails, not the keystrokes, and why closing the loop still involves people- What corporate directors actually want to hear in the 15 to 20 minutes a CISO gets each quarter- The findings that stood out, including that 55% of boards have never defined the cyber risk they are willing to accept, and only 12.5% of CISOs are very confident the board leaves with a true picture of the risk- Institutionalizing the tribal knowledge every security program runs onChapters:0:00 Intro0:18 Mike's background and two prior exits1:08 Why the AI wave pulled him back2:21 Why the CISO has no system to run the program4:09 Starting at the program level, not the SOC or AppSec5:28 What a system of truth for the CISO means8:19 Speaking the language of the business9:09 Where AI does the heavy lifting on a typical Tuesday11:57 Govern the guardrails, not the keystrokes15:44 Bringing deputies into the conversation16:46 What the research with senior practitioners found20:37 Boards, risk tolerance, and the reporting gap24:57 AI as a double-edged sword for security leaders25:35 Joanna Burkey and institutionalizing tribal knowledge27:31 A year from now for the security leaderGuest links:Mike Armistead on LinkedInPulse Security on AIMore Resilient Cyber:Substack: https://www.resilientcyber.ioSubscribe for more conversations with security practitioners and leaders.

Pain and the brain have a nuanced relationship. Pain can stem from biological, behavioral, and social situations that we are not even aware of. And what's even more fascinating, especially if you have chronic pain, is that pain can be eliminated and pain tolerance can be trained. In this conversation with Dr Eric Anderson, a neurologist at Lin Health, we go into how everyone, especially runners can change their relationship with pain and even eliminate chronic pain. We go over: Why chronic and acute pain are different in the brain How to train your pain tolerance and eliminate triggers, and How your nervous system is directly connected to the amount of pain you feel And if you'd like to experience one way of brain training for when running gets hard, I've made something just for you. In a culture chasing novelty and quick spiritual fixes, many men are left restless, confused, and spiritually vulnerable. Temptation has become the front line of battle — and most don't even realize they're already in it. On this episode of the Must Read Alaska Podcast, we sit down with Kyle Clement, co-founder of Liber Christo and a leading trainer in Catholic deliverance ministry. For over 20 years, Kyle has worked alongside Fr. Chad Ripperger to develop the Liber Christo four-phase protocol — a clear, objective, and authentically Catholic system for addressing suspected diabolical affliction with discipline, diagnostics, and the sacraments at the center. Kyle breaks down the practical framework of Prevent, Diagnose, Cleanse, and Fortify and shows men how to: Spot the “open doors” — victimhood, resentment toward God, curiosity without obedience, and rationalized sin Close those doors through confession, renunciation, daily discipline, and obedience to Church authority Build lasting resilience with virtue training that balances prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance on the foundation of faith, hope, and charity Lead as Catholic men today — with purity as power, clarity under pressure, and the courage to reject “cowardice masquerading as prudence” Kyle also shares what it truly means to be a Catholic man in today's Church and culture, and why returning to Christ as Truth — through prayer, fasting, sacraments, and authority — is the only path to real freedom and strength. Special note: Kyle Clement will be in Alaska in early August 2026 with a flexible schedule to speak statewide on “Preparing Your Soul for Spiritual Combat” and “What It Means to Be a Catholic Man Today.” Watch for event details and bring a friend. How you start a season matters, but how you finish it matters even more. In this episode of Empower Your Thinking, C.T. Johnson explores the biblical principles necessary to finish 2026 stronger than you started it. Drawing from Ecclesiastes 7:8, he unpacks the importance of preparing your mind, strengthening your will, guarding your heart, and keeping Christ at the center of your life. If you're ready to reassess, realign, and recommit yourself to God's purpose for the remainder of the year, this episode will equip you with practical wisdom and spiritual insight to help you finish strong. Remember: a strong finish is never accidental—it is the result of intentional preparation.CONNECT WITH CT JOHNSON

In 2026, no one needs to hire a running coach to write a training plan. So the deeper question is, how does the work of a human running coach go beyond what a large language model can iterate? What is the intrinsic human value of what I do to help runners around the world? I'm going to be exploring that a lot in my work coming up and to help me out today, I'm talking to another running coach and voice you might recognize, Matt Chittim of the Rambling Runner Podcast. And the conversation gets interesting. Today, Matt and I go into a lot of running topics like: How AI is changing the profession How masters runners can change their relationship with running, and What Matt is doing now with knee surgery coming up. I was recently a guest on The Rambling Runner so if you haven't checked out that conversation, please do that right after this one. Welcome to the Planted Runner. This episode is sponsored by Velosio. Organizations are feeling increasing urgency to make decisions about the future of their legacy solutions. Demands around security and sustainability become more challenging to meet over time, and as cloud solutions continue to evolve, IT and business leaders may see uncertainty in their path toward modernization. Our guests on this episode are Velosio's Carolyn Norton, Practice Director for Cloud Services and Cloud Solutions Specialist Brian Williams. They help us explore why decisions around legacy systems may feel more urgent now than in the past, and how increasing risk is moving conversations forward across industries. We discuss how Microsoft's cloud and AI strategy is changing buyer expectations, and how that in turn is changing their assessment of the value of legacy systems. Some of the factors customers are discussing with Velosio go beyond security to the latest governance demands and the impact of their investments on cyber insurance, Carolyn and Brian explain. They also offer some perspective on the importance of business outcomes and the way they believe executives should be helping to champion and prioritize the most important modernization efforts. The podcast opens with updates on the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a German state-owned energy company contracting for Canadian West Coast LNG, and the Pope's theological document warning about AI. Next, Peter and Jackie introduce this week's guest, Marc Spieler, Senior Managing Director for the Global Energy Industry at NVIDIA, joining from Houston, Texas, to discuss the latest developments at the intersection of AI and energy. Energy and AI are deeply interlinked. Energy companies are using AI to improve efficiency across oil and gas, renewables, and emerging sources such as next-generation fission and fusion. At the same time, AI's explosive growth is driving significant new electricity demand, requiring a build-out of both generation and grid infrastructure. Predicting future power demand from AI remains uncertain; it depends on the pace of adoption and whether GPUs, along with other delivery components of the digital infrastructure stack, will become more efficient over time. Marc highlights that data centres are becoming more flexible, with the ability to reduce consumption during periods of grid stress. This would allow new data centre capacity to be added without straining the grid, while also lowering costs for all power consumers by improving system utilization during off-peak periods. Most Christians know they are called to love the people around them. Fewer think about what that means for the person who frustrates them in a meeting on Tuesday. Jason Davis stormed out of one of those meetings years ago, and what happened next reshaped how he shows up at work. This episode is for you if you want to bring your faith into daily workplace situations without preaching, burning out, or compartmentalizing it to Sunday mornings. What you will hear in this episode: Why prayer is not just a morning and evening habit. Jason walks through what it looks like to pray on demand throughout the workday, before a hard conversation, after a difficult meeting, and for the people around you. The real story behind his shift from complaining about a coworker to becoming an encourager. Including what happened years later when that same coworker asked about him. Why your coworkers qualify as neighbors in the biblical sense, and what that means for how you show up Monday through Friday. How to tell the difference between being led by God toward a decision and chasing the allure of entrepreneurship or a new opportunity on your own timeline. Why mentorship matters more than motivation if you are serious about growing in business or in your faith walk at work. Jason Davis(AKA Mr. Fortify) is a husband, author, speaker, teacher, encourager, and coach. Jason helps mission-driven people prioritize their faith in the marketplace by uniquely blending faith, business, and finance. I sat down with Patrick from Ampli live at ConsenSys in Miami for a wide-ranging conversation that ran nearly an hour, and for good reason. Patrick went from studying political science in Germany and France to becoming a crypto tokenomics advisor, and now co-founder of Ampli, a company building the security infrastructure for AI agents that manage money. We got into why blockchain was essentially built for AI before AI even existed, how Ampli's Agent Control Room lets fund managers discover, deploy, and control agents without ever handing over the keys, and why 90% of crypto exploits last year came down to human error rather than smart contract bugs. We also talked about the future of stablecoins as geopolitical tools, why DeFi is bottoming out like the post-dotcom era before a decade-long bull run, and what a world looks like where every phone has a personal banker inside it. This is one of those conversations packed with insight for founders, fund managers, and anyone paying attention to where finance is actually heading. For many runners, rest days don't feel like recovery. They feel like falling behind. And there are very real neuroscientific reasons this happens. So how did recovery become the hardest workout of the week.for so many runners? Let's find out. On today's episode, you'll learn: why productivity can become psychologically addictive, why many runners feel unsafe or uncomfortable when they rest, and how to reframe rest as an essential part of high performance instead of a sign of weakness. As a high-achieving go-getter myself, this episode really hits home for me and you'll see how this topic isn't just about your running, but how you run your life. Welcome to the Planted Runner. Can deep squats "cure" constipation, incontinence, and erectile dysfunction? These and other symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction are common, but they're not "normal" and certainly aren't optimal. While these quality-of-life-impacting symptoms are frequently attributed to other causes and are often approached with surgeries and prescriptions, many could be easily remedied with daily deep squats! In this episode of the Body Wisdom Podcast, host Jamie Belz sits down with pelvic floor physical therapist Dr. Ashley Zimmerman to talk about the surprising ways pelvic floor health impacts bladder control, constipation, digestion, sexual health, core stability, hip and back pain, athletic performance, postpartum recovery, breathing, and overall quality of life. From leaking when you sneeze or jump, to painful sex, erectile dysfunction, prolapse, diastasis recti, chronic constipation, ankle instability, and feeling disconnected from your body, Dr. Ashley explains why the pelvic floor is one of the most under-recognized foundations of health. She also shares simple, practical ways to begin supporting pelvic floor function, including deep squats, diaphragmatic breathing, better bathroom posture, movement throughout the day, and working with a pelvic floor physical therapist. This conversation is honest, educational, and empowering for women, men, postpartum moms, athletes, and anyone who has been told their symptoms are "just part of aging," "just what happens after having kids," or something they simply have to live with. RECENT REVIEWS: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Love the planted runner Claire gives great advice on how to make the most out of each run. I look forward to listening to each episode and love the advice on nutrition as well. Claire, one suggestion. Can we hear more interviews from slower runners? (Not those that say I'm slow but still run 8 min miles. I'm talking back of the pack 11-15 min pace.) Mel@Mal ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Mental Strength! I found The Planted Runner blog and podcast when I was in the midst of training for my first half marathon this past spring. Coach Claire's information on a variety of running topics have really helped as a beginner; I especially love the mental strength minute segment! I never thought that running would be a part of my life, but I started a running habit in order to combat postpartum depression. I'm so thankful to have this podcast as a resource so that I can continue to train in an intelligent way, with a lower chance of injury. In the fall, I am planning to run my second half marathon. I am so excited to start my Half Marathon training plan from The Planted Runner in a few weeks.
In Episode 254: Fortify the Ship, I share a powerful perspective shift for missionaries, returned missionaries, and missionary moms who feel worried about how hard a mission—or life—can be. Instead of trying to calm every storm, fix every companion, or control every circumstance, I teach why the real work is learning how to strengthen yourself from the inside out. Missions are meant to be 50/50—filled with both incredible moments and difficult emotions—and that's not a problem to solve, it's part of the process. In this episode, I break down three essential tools to help you "fortify your ship": separating your worth from your experience, learning how to process emotion instead of avoiding it, and building deep self-trust. These internal skills are what allow you to move through discouragement, homesickness, anxiety, and unmet expectations without sinking. When you stop needing your mission—or your life—to feel a certain way, you create the ability to navigate anything that comes your way with confidence and resilience. Most importantly, in Episode 254: Fortify the Ship, I want you to understand that the storm is not the problem—it's the training ground. You are strong enough to feel your emotions, manage your mind, and come out stronger on the other side. Whether you're preparing, currently serving, or supporting a missionary, this episode will help you stop trying to fix the outside and start strengthening what matters most—your mindset, your emotional resilience, and your relationship with yourself. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. I know this work will help LDS missionaries around the world and it would mean so much to me if you did. Are you a runner that eats half a banana before the run and half the fridge after? This pattern is most certainly affecting your running performance and can lead to unwanted weight gain. So how can you fuel properly and break this cycle? On today's episode, we're going to break down one of the most common and misunderstood fueling patterns I see in endurance runners and how to actually nourish your body for performance and for life. You'll learn why this happens in the first place, how underfueling is quietly sabotaging your performance and recovery, and how to fuel all day long so your runs and your life are just better. And if you want a simple guide to follow along with everything we're talking about today, I've got you covered. You can grab my free fueling guide at www.theplantedrunner.com/join. Today,we're doing something a little different. You'll be listening in on a coaching call I'm having with one of my athletes. If you've ever wondered what it's like, here you go! I'm talking to PR Teammate Danny and I'm just going to include the intro he wrote for himself, because it's awesome. Danny spent his first four decades avoiding cardio (or any sport for that matter), before hitting a mid-life crisis. After dropping 20 kg, a friend promptly scammed him into running a full marathon as his first-ever race. Plot twist: the friend Did Not Start (DNS) due to injury, leaving him to suffer the 42.2 Km alone. He's been addicted ever since. Now, he's obsessed with the mental grit of the sport and can be found @zidaniey when not busy drenching his kit in Singapore's humidity while battling his shoe-shopping addiction. Danny is training for both Sydney and Chicago this fall and wants to be sure he's scheduled his tune-up races just right. We have runners from all over the world on the team and this was such a fun conversation I know you'll enjoy. And of course, if you want to get in on the fun, what are you waiting for? Are men ashamed of their porn habits? The majority of men consume porn, and most use it for masturbation, but two thirds of men under 25 think porn should be harder to access, according to research from the Survey Center on American Life. There's a broader discussion now among some men about the role of porn and masturbation in their lives – and manosphere figures like Andrew Tate and Hamza Ahmed are urging their listeners to stop watching it. Some men are cutting it out entirely: they congregate on Reddit pages like r/pornfree or use porn addiction alleviation apps like Quittr and Fortify. But what do men think watching porn says about them? And is this just “purity culture for boys”? Brittany is joined by Rebecca Jennings, features writer at New York Magazine who wrote a piece about anti-porn men, and Scott Burnett, assistant professor of African Studies and Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies at Penn State University, who has published research about men's anti-masturbation trends.
