EX04 Featuring: Susie McLean an artist I have played with and her two songs Sing Your Song and ‘Till the Morning Comes This episode features: Susie McLean! I had the unique pleasure of helping Susie form a band here in Ontario for select performances - I played bass and guitar for Susie's live shows. We had an amazing live band and we had the opportunity to play at Indigo's in Toronto as well as Niagara area wineries! From Susie's site - For me, it all started with music. Growing up in a household where Gospel music was the norm, I quickly connected to music which led to playing piano and songwriting. Susie was nominated for an original piece she wrote called “Sing Your Song'' at the Independent Music Awards and another nomination as “Best Jazz Artist” at the Toronto Independent Music Awards. Susie can be heard across Canada at every Chapters Indigo on their in-store playlist. On top of a great musical career, Susie is also a professional actor! From Susie's imdb page: Susie McLean is an actor, known for Pixels (2015), High-Rise Rescue (2017) and Beauty and the Beast (2012). As mentioned, this first song for your playlist is Susie's original song - Sing Your Song. A great relaxed jazzy tune - such a beautiful song. Enjoy! Susie McLean - Sing Your Song This second song was always fun to play live - I always loved the light gallop to the tune and when the drums kicked in the song would lift into a nice groove - this was a great song to perform live. The ending always made me a little nervous - I only had one shot to hit that final walk at the end of the song!! Susie McLean - ‘Till the Morning Comes Please add Susie's songs to your playlist - enjoy one of Indigo's featured artists right here on Spotify Susie's links: https://www.susiemclean.com/ @addtomyplaylistpodcast on all social platforms podcast presented by True Media Solutions

Funny how it takes a pandemic for us to get a group cast going, but we're glad it finally happened. And what a blast it was too! This episode is just a small snippet of a much lengthier conversation but we feel it's a nice start. Hope you agree & enjoy! Thanks to Tom Bombard, Matt Coxe, Shawn Farmer & Mark Glubke for the awesome insight and great friendship! And finally, we'd be remiss not to mention the passing of John Prine. Tuesday 4/7/20 was indeed a sad day & the world now has a huge void. Rest in peace my friend!Songs sampled:Beach House – “10:37” from Depression Cherry (2015)The Beach Boys – “You Still Believe In Me” from Pet Sounds (1966)Smashing Pumpkins – “Today” from Siamese Dream (1993)The Police – “Tea in Sahara” from Synchronicity (1983)John Prine – “Pretty Good” from John Prine (1971)The Grateful Dead – “Till The Morning Comes” from American Beauty (1970)Spotify Playlist

Happy Halloween! Always a favorite among Deadheads, while Halloween doesn't happen until Monday I thought it only appropriate to share one of the classic Halloween performances with you this week. This set is one of two the band played on Halloween, 1970 from the gym at the State University of New York at Stoney Brook. A fine show, as most are from this era, it starts with quite a rare treat - 'Till the Morning Comes' - sadly they don't do the very best with this, but then we get a great 'Hard To Handle'. The China->Rider is especially enjoyable (although marred with a nasty cut at the end ). Some of the other highlights include an electric 'Dark Hollow', a nicely done 'Brokedown Palace' and the very last performance of 'Viola Lee Blues'. This is far from the best version of this, but it is interesting to see them go into 'Cumberland Blues' out of it. This is raw Dead, not polished, not the best performance of this classic year, and probably not the best recording of this year that one can find, yet I think its great fun to hear and hope you do as well... On the heels of an acclaimed tour of east and south, Furthur has just announced dates for their summer tour. It seemed to me to be only fitting to feature the band this week for those of you who may not have been fortunate enough to catch them so far this year, as well as those of you lucky enough to have seen them. This week I'm going to feature music from two of their recent shows, first from a show in Pittsburgh, then from Phil Lesh's birthday show in New York City. I encourage you to visit http://www.furthur.net"> where you can read about their tour plans, and purchase recordings of all their recent shows.
