El verano de 1964 cambió la escena ‘folk' para siempre. Aislado en Woodstock, Bob Dylan dio vida a 'Bringing It All Back Home', publicado en abril de 1965.

There´s Going To Be The Devil To Pay). (To Hell With The Devil 1986). El diseño sonoro y la realización técnica de estos programas es obra de Daniel Panduro.

Neil Young's otherworldly ability to morph between raging metalhead to the most sentimental of romantics never fails to astound. Always uncompromising, this cranky Canadian has been inflexible in his stance to be unencumbered - and, prolific - recording over 45 solo albums, not to mention those classics created with Buffalo Springfield and CSN&Y. Surviving polio as a child, and a brain aneurysm in middle age, he kept coming back stronger than ever.  I've seen him live twice: at the Greek Theater during the Greendale tour, then again a couple of years back when my son and I flew to Tucson to celebrate the slower, less blazing, but still mesmerizing octogenarian troubadour. His music has been a touchstone throughout my life, starting with the iconic Reprise album “Everybody Knows This is Nowhere” which contained Down by the River - a dorm room sing along. His vast catalogue makes it difficult to pick only ten covers, but the range here is evident, swinging from Pearl Jam's live version of Keep on Rockin' in the Free World to Emmylou Harris's wistful floatation on Daniel Lanois's diaphanous Wrecking Ball. Neil's own vocal style is so distinctive that it's tempting to disregard how beautiful some of his melodies are. I think you'll find that this line up does them justice.HEART OF GOLD (JOHNNY CASH)MR. Today's episode is about a song that was written just up the hill from where I was born and in the same town where my wife and and I were wed. So it most definitely “strikes close to home.” Neil Young had emerged from the great north woods of Canada into the public limelight in the mid–1960s. He joined up with Stephen Stills and Richie Furay to create the Buffalo Springfield, an LA-based band that asked the musical question “Stop, hey, what's that sound” before disintegrating – but not before Young himself had quit and rejoined the band several times. Then, in 1969, he made a self-titled solo album that had great songs, including “The Loner,” (one of my personal favorites) but which didn't sell well. And then Young really came into his own. His second solo album got him some much needed publicity, and he hit a creative chord with an ensemble of garage musicians that he dubbed Crazy Horse. His next stop was to sign on with Crosby, Stills, and Nash (wherein he added his own last name to the group) and played the Woodstock festival with them. His participation in the CSNY album Deja Vu brought him both acclaim and paychecks, which he used to purchase a sprawling ranch in the mountains of the San Francisco Bay Area.  One day, Young took a ride around his newly purchased estate with the property's caretaker, who was at least forty years older than Young at the time. The two men had a long conversation, and the result of that little open-air chat became the basis of one of Young's most enduring acoustic songs. Let's find out how the song came together, who played on it, and how the listening public took to it.

This line from a popular Buffalo Springfield song sums up well the life of King Herod the Great. His insecurity and fear drove him to rule with a cruel hand, killing members of his own family and slaughtering the innocents in Bethlehem. This is not just First Century history; it is also a tale of our times. The worrisome rise of uncertainty and paranoia is causing many to look for scapegoats (anti-Semitism) and to demand an immediate fix for our problems. But it's the expanding rule and reign of King Jesus that is the best response to such recklessness, which, if left unchecked, will bring disaster upon us all.

How does a person reconcile or intersect the unique life of the spotlight, in the definitive 1960s no less, with the calling of a pastor and troubadour for Jesus? When he returned to Ohio for his Hall of Fame induction, he had a moment of clarity, that those two lives, and all the craziness, were both him, and God was in every moment. Sometimes we have a hard time reconciling our "two lives" as believers, we run from who we were in shame. But God. We talk to him about the early years, the fame years, and the ministry years. Richie and Nancy have been married since 1967, and as the family has grown up, their seasoning and maturity in Christ has had an impact for eternity.  Keeping up with his energy level is always a great way to spend an hour.   Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A

If you've ever turned up the radio and belted out Footloose at the top of your lungs — or strutted around the house pretending you're Maverick flying a fighter jet to Danger Zone — then you already know the magic of Kenny Loggins, the undisputed king of the ‘80s movie soundtrack and a bonafide soft rock legend. But there's way more to Kenny Loggins than just toe-tapping anthems and blockbuster film credits. His story is pure classic rock gold, filled with sun-soaked California beginnings, powerhouse collaborations, and an uncanny knack for writing hits that stand the test of time.Born Kenneth Clark Loggins in Washington, Kenny grew up in the golden haze of Southern California's music boom. While his friends were trying to score surfboards, young Kenny was writing songs in his bedroom and dreaming up hooks that would one day echo through stadiums. He cut his teeth as a songwriter for hire, landing cuts with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.Kenny's story really kicks in when he teams up with ex-Poco and Buffalo Springfield member Jim Messina. Enter Loggins & Messina, the folk-rock duo that ruled the early ‘70s with feel-good harmonies and radio-friendly hits. These guys were the ultimate laid-back rock bros — they sold millions of records, filled arenas, and gave Kenny the confidence to step out on his own when the partnership ended in '76.When he did go solo, he doubled down. He scored a huge hit with “Whenever I Call You ‘Friend',” a dreamy duet with Stevie Nicks He co-write with Michael McDonald, “What a Fool Believes” — a song that scooped up the Grammy for Song of the Year in 1980.Then came the era that made Kenny a household name: the Soundtrack King phase. First up, Caddyshack. Next, Footloose — released in 1984, it shot straight to No. 1 and never left the pop culture dance floor. But Kenny Loggins wasn't done. Not even close. Two years later, the Top Gun soundtrack landed in his lap — and he strapped in for one of the most turbo-charged hits of his career: Danger Zone. But here's the thing — the Soundtrack King crown didn't box Kenny in. He's always been more than a hit machine. Albums like High Adventure and Vox Humana show his softer, more introspective side. Songs like “Heart to Heart” and “This Is It” gave us smooth sax solos and heartfelt lyrics. Kenny could be funky, he could be breezy, he could make you want to dance — or just chill on the porch.Through it all, Kenny stayed a collaborator at heart. He's jammed with Michael McDonald, Steve Perry, Stevie Nicks. He even dipped into children's music with Return to Pooh Corner. He's done Christmas albums, live records and acoustic sets. His catalogue is a masterclass in versatility.Today, Kenny Loggins is still out there, doing what he does best — playing sold-out shows for die-hard fans who never get tired of that big, warm, unmistakable voice. His book Still Alright: A Memoir tells the stories behind Kenny's legendary five-decade career and shares behind the scenes tales. The celebrated songwriter and chart-topping collaborator shares an entertaining perspective on his life and career as one of the most noteworthy musicians of the ‘70s and '80s and addresses his personal challenges and obstacles of his life and work -- including two failed marriages, a difficult but motivating relationship with the older brother for which “Danny's Song” is named, struggles with hisaddiction to benzodiazepines, and the revelations of turning seventy and looking back at everything that has shaped his music - as well as coming to terms with his rock-star persona and his true self.I hope you enjoy Kenny Loggins' candid conversation with me during this episode. To learn more about Kenny head ot his website: https://kennyloggins.com/

This Week I Flashback.......The Soul Survivors, originally from New York City, grew up listening to the R & B groups of the 1950's. The sounds of groups like the Moonglows, Heartbeats, and Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers had a great influence on brothers Charlie and Rich Ingui. With various street corner groups, they developed their vocal skills. While in high school, Charlie joined the vocal group from Queens, N.Y. the Dedications. When, a year later the group's lead singer decided to leave, brother Rich was recruited. While performing at clubs in the New York area, they found themselves at the mercy of various house bands and decided to find a group of musicians who would become permanent members of the group therefore creating a self contained unit. The group would be renamed THE SOUL SURVIVORS.Shortly thereafter, the group began to build a strong following, playing venues in Atlantic City and Philadelphia. Enjoying great success in Philadelphia, they attracted the attention of record producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. Into the recording studio they went, emerging with " Expressway To Your Heart " a song that would climb to #3 on Billboard's R&B chart and #4 on it's Top 100 list. The success of " Expressway " became Gamble and Huff's first "crossover" hit when it began to be played on both black and white radio stations. It's success enabled Gamble and Huff to reach the large audiences they sought in order to bring their " Sound Of Philadelphia " to the mass Market. In polls taken by both the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia's City Paper, " Expressway" was voted the number one record ever to come out of Philadelphia. "Expressway " was followed by two other chart records, "Explosion In My Soul" and " Mission Impossible". Their first album, released in 1968, was " When The Whistle Blows ". In 1968, singer and songwriter Graham Nash joined David Crosby and Stephen Stills to form the supergroup Crosby, Stills & Nash. All of them had already been in successful bands: Graham Nash had been in The Hollies; David Crosby was in The Byrds; and Stephen Stills was in Buffalo Springfield. The next year, Neil Young joined them, to make Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. The four of them released Deja Vu in 1970, and that album was a huge success. It sold over 8 million copies. It includes the song “Our House,” and for this episode, I spoke to Graham Nash about the making of that song, and the relationship that led to the song. For more, visit songexploder.net/crosby-stills-nash-and-young.
