Feed Your Head: The Great Jefferson Airplane Deep Dive is an audio documentary that was consciously crafted to act as the ultimate repository of fact and opinion on one of the greatest bands to ever walk the face of the earth. It includes long-form interviews, commentary on their history, wild stories, and star ratings for every release.  Part 10 of the series covers the half-year period from the end of 1966 to The Summer of Love—that is, from the release of Surrealistic Pillow to June 1967 and Monterey Pop—in the style of an audiobook.  Here are just a few of the many things discussed in this episode of Discograffiti: The Human Be-in, and that event's ramifications on the city of San Francisco; The drug busts begin; Bill Graham becomes their manager; The reason why Surrealistic Pillow took a few months before ascending up the charts; How the group temporarily fell afoul of the counterculture; Grace beds down the new guy; Jefferson Airplane's reaction after hearing Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band; How they went down at Monterey Pop; And the alienation of Marty Balin from the band he'd started.   CONNECT Join our Soldiers of Sound Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1839109176272153 Patreon:  https://www.patreon.com/discograffiti Podfollow: https://podfollow.com/1592182331 YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClyaQCdvDelj5EiKj6IRLhw Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/discograffitipod/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Discograffiti/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/Discograffiti Order the Digital version of the METAL MACHINE MUZAK 2xLP (feat. Tune in here to this Tuesday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by talking about energy politics and government spending, beginning with criticism of Chuck Schumer’s call to tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). Brett argues that Schumer demanded the move just before oil prices suddenly dropped, using the timing to mock what he sees as poor political judgment. He frames the moment as an example of why, in his view, incompetent leadership should not be running the federal government. Bo Thompson from Good Morning BT is also here for this bonus episode of Crossing the Streams. Brett and Bo talk about the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the uncertainty surrounding how long the fighting might last. Bo shares that comments from President Trump suggested the conflict could be relatively short, while remarks from Secretary Hegseth sounded more cautious, leaving open the possibility that the situation could continue longer than expected. They also discuss concerns about potential domestic security issues and the unpredictable nature of global conflicts, referencing the lingering lessons since 9/11. The conversation then shifts to college basketball and the ACC Tournament, with Bo discussing early tournament action at the Spectrum Center and how unexpected teams like Pitt can still make surprising runs. Bo also shares what Bill Graham and Brett have coming up tomorrow morning on Good Morning BT, when they will join Bo and Beth Troutman starting at 6 a.m. to break down the latest news and headlines.
