Clyde Kilough discusses Psalm 9:9-10—“The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.”
Send us a textPsalm 9:9-11 says The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. 10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You. 11 Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion! Declare His deeds among the people.I remember when I was younger one of my favorite passages that I had marked with my grandfather's obituary was one that spoke of God being a refuge, a stronghold or fortress in times of trouble. I guess I marked that passage with his obituary because I remember that being a very tough time when we lost my grandfather. Even though at the time I was not saved, I had been in church just enough to know that God was there for us when times were tough. This word refuge and fortress means a place of security and protection. David often fled to these physical places to hide from Saul, but knew that the Lord was the best place to hide in times of trouble. To know the name of God in the Old Testament was equivalent to being saved. David calls on those who are afflicted and oppressed to praise God and testify to others about God's care for them. Let's be like David and do that today. PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM FOR HIS EXCELLENT NAME! AMEN! Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Have you trusted Him as your Savior? He can Save you if You ask Him based on His death, burial, and resurrection for your sins. Believe in Him for forgiveness of your sins today. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” -John 8:32 Our mission is to spread the gospel and to go to the least of these with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ; We reach out to those the World has forgotten. hisloveministries.podbean.com #HLMSocial hisloveministries.nethttps://www.instagram.com/hisloveministries1/?hl=en His Love Ministries on Itunes Don't go for all the gusto you can get, go for all the God (Jesus Christ) you can get. “Plea to God in Time of Trouble” - Psalm 43
In Ps. 91:14-16 the writer has the voice of God saying, 15 When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. That is comforting and amazing. What is required from us? Answer: "Holding fast."
Are you happy? Join us as we kick off "Summer in the Psalms." For the rest of the summer, we will reflect on and apply a Psalm each Sunday. The Psalms are beautiful for endless reasons. For one, they are the God-given prayers for God's people, including Jesus. Imagine the fact that Jesus grew up, lived and breathed the Psalms. Another reason is that the Psalms flesh out in stark honesty what happiness through all the highs and lows of life looks like for the Christ-follower. Are you happy? Let's look to the Psalms together to learn God's definition of happiness. Speaker: Phillip Brown

“911, what is your emergency?” Maybe you have had to call for help before and been helped by a stranger when trouble entered your life. We often don't accept help from others in our desire to be self-sufficient, but emergencies quickly reveal our need for help. The truth is that we all need help. We all recognize our need to seek the LORD for help in times of trouble.
David's Trouble Psalm 31 Sunday (6-16-24) night Bible study
On this edition of One Single Story, Pastors Stephen Mizell and Wendy Korbusieski discuss the following questions: Why is prayer often counterintuitive when believers are in trouble? Have you ever had an experience where you believe God called you to pray in the midst of trouble, and then you witnessed God respond by calming your heart and giving you an internal assurance that you would be okay in spite of the problems? How did that situation work out? The reading for the day is Psalm 27:6-14 .
When our sleepless nights don't go away – follow this path to find the way to peace and comfort.

As men of God we cannot deny him in any area of our lives. The moment we do such a thing becomes the moment we fail substantially. When that happens, we lose our bearings and that becomes the beginning of a disaster the likes of which may be irrecoverable.

“So the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God for our good always and for our survival, as it is today” (Deuteronomy 6:24).It is clear to us that today's world is filled with problems. Satan, as the “ruler of this world” (John 12:31; 14:30) has succeeded in diluting the minds and corrupting the hearts.Meanwhile, God has been active in providing answers and solutions to today's ills. He gives us the wisdom we need in order to succeed and even prosper. Sadly, many people see the Bible as an old, antiquated, out-of-date collection of worthless nonsense. Yet to those willing to invest in a study of the Bible will soon realize the timeless wisdom it contains. The book of Psalms is appropriately classified as one of the “Wisdom Literature” books. Indeed, such a classification fits. This year's study of the Psalms taps into this divine and eternal wisdom. It is a study that shows how modern man can benefit from this ancient source. What Moses told the Israelites applies. What God gives us is “for our good” and “for our survival.” Also notice the last clause “as it is today.” God gave them those commandments years ago, but the benefits of following those commandments is for “today.” The book of Psalms is a book that will help us and help us today. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. – Psalm 46:1
The righteousness of Yahweh is a six time repeated theme in the 18th stanza of Ps 119 – the great acrostic celebration of covenant revelation. Here each original verse beginning with the Hebrew letter 'tsadhe' extols the sufficiency of the Word of God in spite of the social standing of the author – 'small & despised', and the trials he faces fraught with trouble and anguish inflicted by his foes. Our author remains resolute. None of these woes compare to the superior zeal, love, and delight he enjoys meditating on and living according to the rules, testimonies, words, promises, precepts, law and commandments of his faithful and righteous Lord. In this stanza, we highlight the 143rd (by my count) reference to the covenant revelation of the Lord as this epic song reprises once again the glories of the Lord revealed in His word of truth. Later today we are meeting with representatives who are serving in the law-making body of our state. Given the occasion of this event, this stanza and all of Ps 119 appears all the more relevant. Even if we do not implement the memorization of Ps 119 as a requirement to serve in civil government, we should minimally require that the heart of the psalmist be reflected by all who presume to wield power in our day. And if they do not, let us continue to pray for those in authority and insist they repent of their idolatrous rebellion against the One True Sovereign, even as we search our own hearts according to the standard of reverence for the Word of God endorsed in all of Psalm 119.
What is lament? What is Selah? Can we trust God in hard times?
Jordan Bradley continues "The Problem of Pain" Series with a look at Psalm 77.
Hearing Jesus in the Psalms: Psalm 3: Allowing God to Shield Us in Times of Trouble Psalm 3 is a Lament chapter, one of the many we find in the Psalms. Lament teaches us how to give those things over to God that we can't handle on our own. In that place, we see a God who steps in to shield us so that we can rest in Him. I pray this episode encourages you to take these difficult emotions to Jesus. Hey friends, welcome to the Hearing Jesus Podcast. Do you sometimes doubt if you are truly hearing God's voice or if it's really your own? Do you wonder how you can know the difference? Do you struggle to feel confident in your relationship with God and what He says in his word? Do you sometimes feel stagnant or like you hit a wall in your spiritual life? Hey, I'm your host, Rachael Groll: missionary, author, pastor, and life coach. And I have been there. I, too, was doubting God's voice in my own life. I, too, felt insecure about the things I thought God might be calling me to do. I wanted to make a difference in the world and be obedient to what God was calling me to do, but I wasn't quite sure how to figure out what exactly that was. I kept telling myself that I was wasting time trying to figure it out or waiting for Him to show me. Or that I wasn't qualified to do the things I thought He might be telling me to do. The answer for me was found in the pages of the Bible, as I learned how to understand what it was actually saying. If you are ready to grow in your faith and to step confidently into the calling God has for you, then join me as we dig deep into God's word so you can learn to live out your faith in your everyday life. Friend, you are loved, you are cherished, and you are His. The Hearing Jesus Podcast will encourage and equip you to step into the calling God has for your life, living out your faith in the everyday. Together we will break down walls that keep us from growing spiritually. We will dig deep into our Bibles to understand and connect the Scriptures to our lives. We will boldly obey what God calls us to do, walking through doors that only He can open. Join me for your daily dose of faith, honesty, and prayer.
