Send us a textIn Matthew 15:7-9 Jesus said "Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: 8 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. 9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'" In the time of the prophet Isaiah, the Jewish people followed their religious celebrations to the letter. They showed up at the right time, sacrificed the right amount, and offered many prayers. But when they left the temple, they forgot about God. Nearly 3,000 years later, not much has changed. Do we think our responsibility to God begins and ends with going to church and giving an offering? This attitude makes us more of a burden to God than a blessing. We are not accomplishing the tasks that are important to Him as it says in Isaiah 1:17—doing good, seeking justice, defending the fatherless, and pleading for widows. God is not impressed with a full house at religious gatherings if the people come with empty hearts. God wants worshipers with hearts so full of lovefor Him that they overflow in good deeds for others.Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textJohn 15:4 "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.                In this wonderful section of Scripture we will see that unless we abide we can nothing that God has ordained for us to do. I believe abide first of all means we are saved if we abide in Him and He abides in us, Romans 8:9, John 14:20, 17:23. Then, when we are filled with the Spirit we bear much fruit.  Being filled with the Spirit is talked about in Eph 5:9, 5:18-21, and Col 3:16-23. If we are not saved we are unable to do anything that is a supernatural God work. In other words, if you are saved you know that before you were saved you were unable to change and get rid of those sin areas in your life that plagued you. You also now have an ability to live for God and also do great works in His name (see Mt 5:16, Eph 3:20). The Fruit of the Spirit is spoken of in Gal 5:22, but it also is shown in the passages above where Paul says it will be shown by;1. Speaking about the Word of God (What dominates your thought life)2. Singing and Making Melody in your Heart (Joy) 3. Thankfulness  4. Being Submissive to God and Others in your household and your workplace and treating others like they should be treated.5.  It also will glorify God      Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a text  Matthew 14:3-4 says For Herod had laid hold of John and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife. 4 Because John had said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her." We need some modern day John the Baptist's who are willing to call sin what it is.  Many today are willing to pander to society and all their so called freedoms.  It is appalling what Christians today or people that call themselves Christians are willing to put up with, cater to or be exposed to in order to be accepted and liked.  The world is not looking for people like them, they see enough of that already, what they are looking for is what the Bible calls in 1 Peter 2:9 a holy people, a set apart people.  People who are different.  If we look like the world do you think non-Christians will want to be saved?  No. Let us live up to our calling to walk worthy of the Lord and that is definitely not a worldly walk.     Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textIn today's lesson we will see that Jesus tells us that the people who do not bear fruit are not really saved and He takes them away.  We will see later they are burned in the fire (sent to hell).  He tells us that the true disciples are the ones the Father prunes; they are the ones that bear fruit.  This chapter says very clearly that if you are saved your life will show it by the fruit you bear because you are connected to the True Vine (Jesus).  He also says that they have been washed clean from their sins by the Word of God. (Titus 3:5, Ephesians 5:26-27). He lastly tells us the only way we can produce fruit is if we are connected to the vine and live in a close intimate relationship with him. To say it another way is that we are filled with the Holy Spirit.  No one can do anything unless God empowers us to do it.     Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textMatthew 13:44-46 says "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. 45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, 46 "who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it. Here we see the kingdom of God described as something that is invaluable and it is worth anything that we might have to pay for it.  The person who really is a child of God knows that and has and will give up anything or everything to go to heaven.  The good news is that it is a free gift and to enter the kingdom all one has to do is to turn from our sins, repent and believe the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and raised to life again on the third day.  To believe means we trust with all we have in us that all of this is true and it is enough to save us and get forgiveness of our sins). Send us a textIn this passage of Scripture which many people have misinterpreted, we will see that Jesus is telling us that He is the true source of our spiritual and physical life. Acts 17:28 "for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.'  2Peter 1:3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.  Jesus is the source of it all and the Father is the one who will do the cutting (chastising in our life) when it is needed.  The way a vine produces fruit is by cutting it back and it will produce more.  God does the same thing in our life when He cuts away those unnecessary things out of our life so we can continue to grow in the grace and the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Jesus is talking about two groups of people here.  One is the true Christians who when they are cut on bear more fruit and the false Christians who never bear any fruit.  Mt 7:16 "You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles?  17 "Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them. 21"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textPsalm 17:14-15 says With Your hand from men, O LORD, From men of the world who have their portion in this life, And whose belly You fill with Your hidden treasure. They are satisfied with children, And leave the rest of their possession for their babes. 15 As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness. David was praying that God would deliver him from wicked men, the people of this world who only live for what they can get and do that brings them pleasure and leave them for their children.  The wicked don't care anything about the spiritual things of God. In contrast David's greatest pleasure and delight was in God and not the things of this world.  David could either be referring to his daily enjoyment in living for God in His presence or the fact that one day David would wake up in heaven and be like Him.  What is it that drives your life?  Do you care about the things of God or what is the most important thing for you?  I hope and pray it is God and the spiritual things that come from knowing Him.     Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textJesus started out this passage saying let not your heart be troubled and then begins to tell them what all is going to happen.  He then tells them that he is leaving and they need not be worried because He will take care of them and He will still be with them in another way. Then He finishes the section by telling them the way He will be with them is by sending the Holy Spirit who will teach them and bring to remembrance all things He said to them.  But as they are worrying about all of this still He says my peace I leave you not as the world gives peace and again don't let your heart be troubled.  He says He is their peace and that they need not worry and neither should we.  He says they should rejoice in the fact that He is leaving and going back to heaven.  Plus, He says all of this in advance so that they will know that He knew it was going to happen.  Lastly, He lets them know again for the umpteenth time that He does all of this because He is doing the Father's will.  Will we trust God no matter how hard it gets and rejoice in what He is doing in our lives through the hard times or let them stress us out? V26 His peace is rooted in His Word, v27 Sourced by His Person(My peace I give to you), different from that the world gives, have peace in spite of trouble, v27 Experienced by faith (Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.) Same as He started the Chapter don't have to let it if you trust Him. Send us a text                    Matthew 13:36-39 says His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field." 37 He answered and said to them: "He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 "The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. 39 "The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. Jesus explains the parable to His disciples by saying that He is the one who sows the good seed (the Gospel -1 Corinthians 15:3-4).  True believers living in the world are going to be attacked by unbelievers (tares) and they will also try to deceive others into believing they are really saved.  They will try to deceive and destroy true believers by leading them down false roads and infiltrating all the good things true believers are doing.  They will take every opportunity to destroy the testimony of God's people and the work they are doing.  Look around you, many you may know are not really believers.  One famous preacher said he believed if the rapture occurred during church only about 28% of the people would disappear and leave to be with the Lord. The rest are unbelievers. We need to be able to discern the truth by knowing our bibles and when these people try to discourage, destroy, or stop our work for the Lord we should be able to spot them and what they are doing because we know our bible so well.Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a text In this section of Scripture Jesus defines a true Christian as one who keeps His commandments.  He is very clear; those who do not obey Jesus are not really saved no matter how much they go to church or know their Bible, or how many good deeds they do.  This cannot be any more clear.  How many today will say they are going to Heaven but do not live in any way that looks like what a Christian is supposed to be according to the Bible?  Jesus does not say we get to Heaven by doing good works, but that if we are saved we will do them.  Look at James 2:14-17 and Ephesians 2:8-10.  They both say we are saved by faith, but the faith that saves is never alone, it is always accompanied by good works which are the evidence of salvation.  Jesus says this four different times in this passage.  I think he wants us to know that the way we know someone is saved is if they keep His word which is His commandments.  He also tells us that He will send the Holy Spirit to be in us and with us forever.  He will take Jesus place as our encourager and helper in this world.  He also tells us that if we keep His commandments the Father will love us too and He and the Father will come to us and live with us forever since they are coming to make their home with us.  Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textMatthew 13:23 says "But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. In Matthew 13:23 we see the true believer. Jesus described in verses 18-22 the ones who never wanted salvation, the ones who cared more about riches and things, and the ones who did not want to be persecuted. The true believer is one who understands the message, receives it and responds in believing faith in Jesus as it says in Ephesians 1:13-14. All who believe in Christ produce some kind of spiritual fruit (doing good, sharing, praise, leading others to Christ, etc.).  You may have to look hard but the fruit is there. The bible would say if there is no fruit then you have no root. You don't belong to Jesus.  See also John 15.  I heard someone say if you were arrested for being a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you?  Something to think about. Jesus is the way to God because He is the truth from God and the life from God. He is the truth because He embodies God's supreme revelation (1:18; 5:19; 8:29).John 1:18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. He is the life because He contains and gives divine life. Jesus is not merely One who has shown men the way; He is the way. It is His death, resurrection, and ascension that has made a way for men to spend eternity with God in heaven. He is not merely a way; He is the way. He is the one and only way that God has provided for men to obtain the forgiveness of their sins and the gift of eternal life. Lest anyone miss this point, Jesus says it again, in the plainest of words: “No one comes to the Father except through Me.” To know Jesus is to know the way to the Father, for He is the way. This was an exclusive claim to being the only way to heaven. John 10:9 "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.Ac 4:12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."1Ti 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, It is only because of Jesus Christ's work on the cross that anyone can enter heaven. Jesus is not dismissing his family or saying they have no part with Him, but He is saying His true (spiritual) family are those who have trusted in Him as their Lord and Savior.  It is not those who try to do good things, go to church, get baptized or take communion who are the family of Christ, but it is those who have trusted in Him and because of that they do His will.  That is, they keep His commandments, no, not perfectly, no one does this on earth, we will be perfect in heaven but our want to's, our desires are to please God.  Not because we have to but because we want to as we have been changed from the inside by the Holy Spirit who now lives in us because we are saved. All throughout the New Testament the Bible says those that know Christ live differently because of their salvation.  You can't be a Christian and not have your life change.  It is impossible.  Over and over again Jesus would say “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say (Luke 6:46)? Send us a text  Today's Scripture deals with the time in the upper room where Jesus and the disciples are having the last supper. Jesus is giving final instructions to them before He leaves earth so they can deal with all that life will throw at them.  Peter does not understand why he cannot go with Jesus; he has gone with Him everywhere for 3 years and does not want Jesus to leave him and the disciples. Peter goes so far as to say he will die for Jesus.  Jesus then tells Peter that he will deny Him three times before the rooster crows.  He then begins to tell them it is going to be alright and they need not be troubled.  He tells them to trust in Him and believe in Him as they already do in God the Father, because He is God and is equal with the Father. Jesus knows they are in a really bad place and He wants to assure them that it will be okay and that He is going to prepare a place for them so they can be with Him forever.36 Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, where are You going?" Jesus answered him, "Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward."I think Peter was so shocked by our Lord's words in verse 33 that he just couldn't get past them. Peter “locked in” on what Jesus had said about going away. He wanted to know where Jesus was going and why he could not go with Him. He had followed Him all this way, all the way to Jerusalem. There was no turning back for him. He was committed to follow Jesus. And now Jesus is talking about going somewhere where he cannot follow? No way! Not for Peter. Jesus answers Peter's question indirectly, but even this oblique reply should have given Peter some comfort. Jesus was going somewhere where Peter could not follow Him now, but he will, Jesus said, “follow later.” That is not good enough for Peter. The word “now” is foremost in Peter's mind. He does not want to wait. He wants to follow Jesus now, wherever that might be. Peter does not seem to have a clue that Jesus is talking about going to the Father in heaven. He seems fixed on the idea that Jesus is going to change His place of residence on earth. Peter seems to be reasoning something like this: “Jesus says He's going somewhere, and I can't follow. He won't say where, and He won't say why. It must be the danger. He doesn't want me coming along because it's too dangerous. He doesn't think I can take it. Well, I'll let Him know that I can handle anything anyone dishes out …” 37 Peter said to Him, "Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake." 38 Jesus answered him, "Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times. (NKJV)In his excellent commentary on the Gospel of John, William Hendriksen points out some very informative facts about Peter's words here and in the Synoptic Gospels. Let me cite them:In connection with this boast a few additional facts must be noted:a. Peter spoke these words both before and after Christ's prediction which is recorded in 13:38, as is clear from Matt. 26:33-35; Mark 14:29-31. Evidently, at the time, the words of Jesus, telling Peter that in spite of his boasting he would do the very thing which he promised so emphatically not to do, failed to register. Peter was too sure of himself.b. He used very emphatic language. Note the double negative in Matt. 26:35, so that the boast may be rendered: ‘I will certainly not deny thee.' And compare: ‘I will never be ensnared.'c. He spoke with great vehemence (Mark 14:31), evidently not at all pleased with the fact that Jesus had a different opinion.d. The passage here in John indicates that Peter's boas

Send us a text                         Genesis 39:2-4 says The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. 3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand. 4 So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority. This phrase the Lord was with Joseph occurs 4 times in this chapter.  It is important to note that the reason for Joseph's success is that this was true. This was not because the Lord randomly chose this man, but because he was faithful in a little and therefore the Lord placed him in charge of much (Luke 16:10). Joseph was in charge of Potiphar's house and all that he owned. The Lord even blessed Potiphar because of Joseph. In the Old Testament the way the Lord showed others that someone was faithful to God and a godly man was through earthly blessings.  This was Old Testament; in the New Testament it says God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3). That doesn't mean that God can't bless us this way now, but He blesses us in so many other ways that mean so much more than material possessions. Have you and I been faithful in a little so that God will be able to bless us in much?  Let us draw near to God and ask God what it is that He wants us to do so that we might be a blessing to others around us.     Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textIn this section of Scripture we see that Jesus has given Judas the bread and at that point, the devil enters Judas.  Judas willingly invited the devil into his life and it cost him all of eternity in hell.  Jesus tells him to go ahead and betray Him since that is what Judas intended to do. When Judas has left Jesus states that now He (the Son of Man) is glorified. What Jesus means is the way He is going to be glorified is by dying on the cross for our sins. Jesus speaks of it as if it had already happened, since it was going to and He knew it would.  Judas goes out and it is night, there is a double meaning here since John always speaks of darkness as error, lies, and sin.  Then Jesus proceeds to tell them He is going to heaven even though He says it in terms they don't understand.   Lastly, Jesus gives us that famous statement a new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."  We are to love one another no matter what happens is what He is saying.  He then says it will be known that we belong to Jesus is by the way we show our love to each other.  Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textMatthew 11:28-30 says "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30 is an invitation for all to come to Christ and be saved.  It was originally offered to Israel as they struggled and toiled as we also do in this world's difficulties.  Trying to live life without Christ is wearisome and hard as all of life's difficulties bear down on us. Without Christ many times life just overwhelms us and beats us down. Many bail out on life because it just becomes too hard.  Many try the religious way of life and all the rules and regulations that they impose on people, but that is not what Christ does. He loves us and cares for us and when we trust in Him as Savior then life becomes easier as we can give all our cares and burdens to Him (1 Peter 5:6, Philippians 4:6-9). When we come to Christ the things that we felt we needed to do to get into heaven and please God and men become something we want to do, not have to.  That is why coming to Christ takes the load off of our shoulders as He gives us earthly peace, joy, and abundant life.  Do you know Him as Savior?  Come to Him today, ask Him to forgive you and save you because of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection which paid for your sins (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).       Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a text                In John 13:18-30 we see Jesus pointing out that Judas is the one who will betray Him and that He is telling this so they will believe He is the I AM God of the Old Testament who has come in the flesh.  He also tells them that it will fulfill the Scriptures to show how accurate they are and that all that is said in them is true and will come true if it is a future prediction.  Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies when He came the first time and will fulfill at least that many when He comes again.  If you haven't believed on Him, the question is why not?  Who fulfilled prophecies and done as many great signs that show He is God? Send us a text1 Peter 2:2 says As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: here Peter urges those who are Christians to desire the milk of the word which is Christ or the word of God itself. Either way we are to long for and develop an appetite for the things of God, especially for Christ and His word which teaches us who we are and what we ought to believe. To develop an appetite for the word we must read it daily and the more we read the more we will want to know what it says and how to behave. Send us a textIn this very familiar passage of Scripture, we see Jesus having set the example for Servant Leadership in the first eleven verses asking them if they know what He has done.  Then He explains what He has done and why He did it. Jesus says Most Assuredly (i.e.; Listen Up What I am about to say is very Important).  He says that if He the Lord and God who created everything washed their dirty nasty feet, then what ought they to do?  Jesus is saying that we ought to do whatever it takes to help others become who they ought to be in Christ.  That we are to help everyone in spite of what they look like, smell like, talk like, act like, or anything else that we may not like about them.  Jesus says a blessing comes not by knowing what you ought to do, but by doing the very thing we most dislike doing sometimes, helping others who are not like us. Mt 25:40 "And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.' Where do you get your spiritual wisdom and understanding from? I want to challenge you to read a chapter or a short book of the Bible for a week to 30 days straight and see what happens when you do. Maybe try it for 90 days. You might miss a day or two here or there, but keep at it and see how much you learn. Look for repeated words and phrases, you will be amazed at how much God will show you if you do this. Send us a text                       In Genesis 32:24-30 we see the account of Jacob wrestling with a Man until the breaking of day. Here we find Jesus, who appears in the Old Testament as the Angel of the Lord before He comes to earth in Human flesh wrestling with Jacob. God initiates this fight to bring Jacob to the end of himself. This is not a dream, but a real event and God is showing Jacob that He is in control of all, not Jacob.  This happens right after Jacob has done everything he can to protect himself from his brother Esau who he believes wants to kill him. Jacob overcomes by prayer and faith in saying He would not let God go until He blessed him. God gives Jacob his new name as He has done and continues to do for those who believe in Christ. God gave us that name in eternity past, but it is the name which defines who we will be in Christ. Jacob's name means deceiver, but now God is going to change him into one who is God's warrior.  Have you had a spiritual encounter with God that changed your life?  He will change your physical and spiritual walk if you will seek Him.  Let Him do that today.                        Genesis 32:24-30 Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. 25 Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob's hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. 26 And He said, "Let Me go, for the day breaks." And He said, "Why is it that you ask about My name?" Send us a textMatthew 10:37-39 "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 "He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.                  Jesus is teaching that we must love other people, but we are always to love Him more.  Anything that we love more than Him is an idol.  That is why Jesus would say that we are to die to ourselves (take up our cross) and put Him first in everything.  Sometimes this involves pain and shame, but He still comes first. If we try to get it all now or what we want instead of Mt 6:33 seek first His kingdom, we will lose it all in the end.  We are to put Jesus first and then our lives will glorify Him. We give up our wants and put His first, then we get it all when we go to heaven.  We don't know what He will give us on this earth and what He will withhold for our good and His glory. But it is always the best because He knows what is best for our lives. Send us a textHere we see God promising Jacob as he is leaving the promised land that He (God) will still be with Jacob.  He is not without protection, care, and the blessings that God had promised previously and now restates here. This ladder which Jacob dreamed about is later shown to be Jesus Christ.  He is the one who is the only way to God in heaven. Most people seem to think you can get to God any way you want to, but God tells Jacob here, Nathaniel later and then He says in John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. This vision was to teach Jacob and us the nearness of God and if we would but call on Him we can be saved. Also He is the one who is the one who carries all of our concerns and needs to the Father. We ought to be in awe of how gracious, loving, kind, and merciful God is, as He was to Jacob then.            Genesis 28:12-13,16-17 Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 And behold, the LORD stood above it and said: "I am the LORD God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. 16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, "Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it." 17 And he was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! Send us a textMatthew 9:11-13 says And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?" 12 When Jesus heard that, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 "But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."         The Pharisees were hateful. They were saying true religious people, righteous men like we are, we shun such vile sinners. That's what they're saying. There's a lot of people in the church today and that's how they act. Their world begins and ends with people who are in their circle and all they can do is criticize the ones who are not like them and not reach out and help them. We need to think about that. These people don't need our criticism; they need our help. They don't need to be kept at a distance; they need our mercy, our love. That is what Jesus did for us and that is what He calls us to do for them.  God doesn't want self-righteous people, He needs those that recognize that it is only by God's grace we are saved and it could have been us out there with no one sharing the love of Christ with us. Send us a textIn today's message we will see Jesus humbling Himself and showing us the attitude of Servant Leadership.  This is a concept that is shown by Jesus the whole time He is here on earth.  He was humble in the fact that the God who created everything came to earth to die on the cross for our sins (Philippians 2:5-11).  Jesus said in Mark 9:35 And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, "If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all." Peter gets proud and doesn't want Jesus to wash his feet so He tells Jesus "Lord, are You washing my feet? So, Jesus begins to say that Peter doesn't understand all this right now, but will later on.  Peter strongly protests again. So, Jesus tells Peter that if He is not allowed to wash his feet that He cannot have anything to do with Jesus.  So Peter replies wash all of me then.  Jesus lets Peter know that a saved person (those that are completely clean) only needs to clean their feet.  In other words a saved person has been completely washed clean by the Blood of Jesus and only needs to daily ask for forgiveness (wash their feet) to maintain fellowship with God.  1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. As we walk through this world we get dirty from being exposed to the sin around us that contaminates us.  He then tells Peter that Judas is not saved by saying all of you are not clean.     Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textPsalm 9:9-11 says The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. 10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You. 11 Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion! Declare His deeds among the people.I remember when I was younger one of my favorite passages that I had marked with my grandfather's obituary was one that spoke of God being a refuge, a stronghold or fortress in times of trouble.  I guess I marked that passage with his obituary because I remember that being a very tough time when we lost my grandfather. Even though at the time I was not saved, I had been in church just enough to know that God was there for us when times were tough. This word refuge and fortress means a place of security and protection. David often fled to these physical places to hide from Saul, but knew that the Lord was the best place to hide in times of trouble. To know the name of God in the Old Testament was equivalent to being saved.  David calls on those who are afflicted and oppressed to praise God and testify to others about God's care for them.  Let's be like David and do that today.  PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM FOR HIS EXCELLENT NAME! Send us a text  John 12:44 Then Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me.45 "And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 46 "I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. 47 "And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. 49 "For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. 50 "And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak." Jesus really wants people to be saved.  In Luke 19:10 it says "for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. “The consequence of rejection is going to bring ultimate condemnation.  John 3:17-19 emphasizes the same thing.  Jesus the Word comes and people are condemned because they don't believe it.  The purpose of God's revelation in Jesus Christ is a positive offer, verse forty-seven.  “To save the world.”  You may not like the law of gravity. Gravity has no respect for persons and if you step off the top a building, the gravity will not even care or shed a tear as you hit the pavement.  It won't care. Over and over again Jesus has told them who He is and they need to be saved, the truth has been revealed and they will not embrace it.Whether or not people embrace it or reject it is their responsibility.  Do not blame the medical community if you have lung cancer.  Do not blame the medical community if you have diabetes.  Do not blame the physicist and the guy who figured out the laws of gravity.  You and I make a choice to go against what we know.  And that's exactly what God saying to us here.  Put it another way, no one will be in hell who did not have ample opportunity to know how to be saved.  There is not a person who will go to hell who did not have ample opportunity to come to trust in Jesus Christ.  I believe Scripture teaches it throughout.  Jesus is speaking to His Father and He is speaking loud and the religious leaders are quiet because they're afraid. How about you, what will you believe? 44 Then Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me.We cannot tell for certain when and where these final words of our Lord were spoken. In verse 36, John tells us that Jesus “went away and hid himself from them.” Verses 37-43 are John's words, explaining Israel's unbelief. Verses 44-50 are our Lord's final words, which seem to be placed here out of chronological sequence. John is not so concerned about the timing of these words as their impact. In many ways, verses 44-50 sum up the message of the Gospel of John, and of our Lord. We find nothing new here, but a repetition of what has been said many times before. Since these are our Lord's final words, spoken publicly to the Jews in Jerusalem, this makes good sense.I would point out that our Lord's words here are not only applicable to the Jews, who are already rejecting Him as their Messiah, but to the Greeks, who are seeking Him as their Messiah. Jesus intends for these words to be heard because He shouts them out (verse 44).[1] I believe the backdrop for these final words of our Lord is found in John chapter 10, where our Lord says,37 “If I do not perform the deeds of my Father, do not believe me. 38 But if I do them, even if you do not believe me, believe the deeds, so that you may come to know and understand that I am in the Father and the Father is in me.”Jesus' words here are spoke

Send us a text     Matthew 4:3-4 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." 4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'" Satan attacked Jesus at His most vulnerable time.  The way it is written assumes that the devil knew that Jesus was the Son of God, it could have been written since you are the Son of God. The devil wanted Jesus to do something that would be sin and cause Him to not be able to die for our sins since He would not then be a perfect Savior. God wanted Israel to learn in Deuteronomy 8:2-3 the lesson that their hunger in the wilderness was meant to show them that hearing and obeying God's Word is the most important thing in life. Israel instead demanded bread and died.  Jesus submitted to the Father's will and left the bread alone so that He could live to pay for our sins.  Remember the devil will use any means to tempt you and Jesus gave us the perfect lesson here on how to fight temptation.  He used the word of God to prove false what the devil told Him to do and this is what we need to do too. We need to be like David who said he hid the word of God in his heart that He might not sin against God (Psalm 119:11).  Do you have the word memorized so that you can defeat the devil and temptation when it comes? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?" 39 Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again: 40 "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them." 41 These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke of Him. 42 ¶ Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.  37  But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him,They had rejected the evidence (v. 37). The light had been shining, but they refused to believe and follow the light. Note the terrible results of repeatedly rejecting Christ's Word (vv. 37–41): (1) They would not believe (v. 37) though they had seen the evidence for His divine Sonship. (2) They could not believe (v. 39) because their hearts became hard and their eyes blind. (3) Therefore, God said, “They should not believe” (v. 39) because they had spurned His grace!Now He pulls on two verses from that prophesy of Isaiah and they form two questions.  Who has believed our report?  That's the first question.  This is a lament.  This is a complaint on the part of the writer.  He's saying, “Why haven't they believed, for goodness sakes?”  It also tells us that the prophet, perhaps seven hundred years prior to Christ walking on this globe, the prophet foresaw something.  He foretold something.  They wouldn't believe.  We're going to take this report, we're going to clear it out to our own people and they aren't going to embrace it. 38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: "Lord, who has believed our report? And to Whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?" The second question is, “To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”  Now this has to do with His power.  The arm of the Lord, the right hand usually, is always the power center of God and I've often been reminded His left hand isn't too bad either.  But His right hand is the arm of power.  And it says, “to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?"  In other words, “Who has seen His power?” Well, certainly Israel saw His power again and again, didn't they?  And in our context here, didn't they see the power of Jesus Christ to raise people from the dead, to cure the ill, to give eyes to a blind man, to turn water into wine?  Didn't they see the power of God?  Who's heard our report?  Why aren't they believing?  They've seen the power of God, why do they persist in unbelief?  In spite of clear prophesy, people will not believe.39 Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again:Now, the nation is unable to believe because they constantly rejected God.  They constantly rejected His prophets, they constantly rejected His power, even though they saw those signs and saw the power.  So the consequence we might call a judicial blindness.  They are blind because they persist.  Their hearts become hardened.  They are close minded toward God even though they see these things and hear these things, they don't believe.  So, verse thirty-nine, in spite of clear prophesy, they would not believe.  Look at verse thirty-nine, “Because they could not believe.” The reason they can no longer believe is they persist in unbelief and there comes a point when they canno

Send us a textIn Matthew 1:11 with royal right to the throne an evil king was born named Jeconiah.  In Jeremiah's prophecy chapter 22:30, God said no son of Jeconiah will ever sit on the throne of David.  Yet, Jeconiah is in the Messianic line.  How can Jesus be the King if He does not come through the royal line if that line of Jeconiah is cursed?  That seemingly hopeless problem is solved by the virgin birth.  Through that line Jesus received the legal right to the throne, but being no blood child of Jeconiah He could sit on the throne of David.  Praise the Lord for how He did the impossible and brought us a Savior to die in our place and make it possible to be saved.     Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textJohn 12:20 Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast. 21 Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus." 22 Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus. 23 But Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. 24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. 25 "He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.            In today's teaching we will see that this is the turning point of Jesus away from the Jews.  The reason for this turning is some Greeks coming to seek Jesus and this apparently is a signal from His Father that Jesus is to completely turn away from them. They do not realize it but it is over for them and there are no more chances for these Jews (religious people) to trust Christ from now on.  Jesus tells them that the way the Son of Man is glorified is that He has to die.  This is where the Jews have it all wrong, they think Jesus is to come and be a Magnificent Savior the first time, but He has come to die for the sins of the whole world.  The way we are please the Father and become ultimately glorified is through our salvation and becoming like God as we die to ourselves and then we can live for Him.  Isn't it amazing that God has given us seeds as an example of this great truth of dying, so we can really become who we really are made to be in Christ?      Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textSome People get on their hobby horses of teaching and they ride it and ride it and ride it. That is a problem. The only thing we should ride all the time is Christ and Him Crucified. Paul said I determined not to know anything but Christ and Him crucified and woe unto me if I don't preach that. So Be on the lookout for those who beat up other people's beliefs that are not issues important to salvation. We can agree to disagree on those issues. Also, look out for those who  also are  always harping on those things over and over again not related to salvation and are not mainstream beliefs. Quit following them. Send us a textJohn 12:9 Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead. 10 But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also, 11 because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.                  In this section of Scripture we will see that many of the Jews came to see Him and also Lazarus because he was no longer dead, but alive and well. The chief priests not only want to kill him, but Lazarus also.  When Jesus comes riding into town on a donkey's colt as Zechariah 9:9 predicts. Also Daniel 9:25-27 predicts the exact day He will do this.  The people do not understand, they are quoting the wrong verses, it says in verse 12 The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: "Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!' The King of Israel!" They are quoting Psalms 118:25-26 which is a verse that speaks of Jesus's second coming, not His first coming.  The first time Jesus comes it is to die on the cross, the second time He comes as a conquering King.  They want a political Messiah, a conqueror who will deliver them from Roman rule, not save their souls.  I think that is like us so many times, we want a Jesus who will deliver us from trouble, but not one who will deliver us from sin.     Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a text                Luke 2:8-11 says Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  Here we see in the book of Luke for the third time the appearance of an angel, a response of fear, the command not to fear, and the announcement of a birth that brings joy. This time it is not to a family, but to the lowly shepherds who were considered the least of all society and had a reputation of being untrustworthy. As in many places in the Gospels God shows His love for all people, especially those of the common people and lowly of status. God cares for all people and has a special place for those of low status as they are the ones who usually are willing to trust in Christ, whereas those with much status and wealth are usually not willing to humble themselves to trust in a Christ of humble nature. This is the good news that Jesus will save those who will humble themselves and come to Him only on the merits of what He has done.  Many think they are good enough or do not need to be changed because of who they are and what they have accomplished.  Are you one of those, or are you willing to humbly ask God to forgive you for being a sinner in need of a Savior? Send us a textJohn 12:4 Then one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who would betray Him, said, 5 "Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?" 6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it. 7 But Jesus said, "Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial. 8 "For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always." 9 Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead. 10 But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also.             In This message we will see Mary and Jesus rebuked by Judas and the disciples for her anointing the feet of Jesus for His burial.  Judas speaks for the first time in the Scriptures and shows his true nature.  He pretends to care for the poor, but God through the pen of John tells us this he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it. Here we see Jesus tells them you need to get your priorities in order because I always come first in everything.  Mark 12:30 'And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. Send us a textJohn 12:1 Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead. 2 There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him. 3 Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil. We are looking at a passage today that is very familiar to us, but as always we need to make sure we don't think that we know it all, none of us do.  Jesus is down to the last week of His life and He is having supper with Lazarus and the sisters Mary and Martha.  Martha is serving as usual and Lazarus is being honored by being at the table after having been raised from the dead.  The keystone of this passage is Mary takes a very costly perfume, breaks the bottle and pours it all out on Jesus and wipes His feet with her hair.  First of all, she gave her best and greatest gift when she poured out her costly perfume, probably worth $20,000 - $25,000 at our rate of exchange today.  Also, this was her whole wealth and all her savings she had in this world.  Then, she also used her hair which speaks of a woman's glory.  She humbled herself and anointed Jesus for His burial with her perfume and her hair.  How about you, are you giving Jesus your best and your all?     Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a text1.    1 Peter 2:15 says For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men-- as Christians ought to obey the laws of the land because the Bible tells us to unless it specifically violates Christian principles or our conscience. We are free in Christ in that we have been set free from our condemnation and can now do good because of who we are in Him and His power that enables us. We are not free to disobey any law we don't like just because we don't like it. This displeases God. Send us a textIn this section of Scripture we see the result of the Pharisee's hatred for Jesus.  He has raised Lazarus from the dead and instead of them being happy for Lazarus and excited about what Jesus had done, they decide that this is the last straw and they want to kill him for all His miracles.  It is amazing how people will react when their authority, prestige and power are threatened.  These Pharisees cannot let Jesus take these away from them.  They have to be the great and mighty Pharisees.  We see some believe, but they are like those in Chapter 6 who after being fed with 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread go looking for Jesus again the next day and Jesus says to them you are not looking for me for the right reason, you just want more food.  They like Jesus as long as He heals them, or feeds them, or satisfies some need they have, just like most of us today.  We like that Jesus, but we don't like the Jesus of the Bible, Him you can keep.  We like His miracles; we just don't like His message.  Just like they decide to kill Him, many today want to wipe out all remnants of Jesus in our society.  They don't want to hear that name or even the name of God which is who Jesus is.     Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textIn Genesis 22:2 God said, "Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go and offer him as a burnt offering." God called on Abraham to make five great sacrifices: his country, his family, his nephew Lot, his son's Ishmael, and Isaac. Each sacrifice involved something obviously dear to Abraham, but each resulted in greater blessings from God. God was testing Abraham's faith as He does ours to prove it's character and strength.  Thankfully God does not always test us to such extremes, but when He does test us it is to make us more like Him. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, "Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days." 40 Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?" 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 "And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me." 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth!" 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Loose him, and let him go."                 In this message Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead.  Even though he has been dead four days, it is not too late.  Did you know that it is never too late for Jesus to do His work, when we give up and give in we have missed God's best, because He wants us to trust Him in Faith.  Jesus tells them they will see God's Glory, that was the message all along, but they missed it and many times so do we.  We are looking for a way out and God wants to show us His Glory.  Jesus allows them to participate by removing the stone and removing Lazarus's grave clothes.  God wants us to serve Him and gives us the privilege of helping Him if we will only be obedient.  Jesus prays and calls forth Lazarus to come forth.  Lazarus is a picture of us who are dead in our trespasses and sins and unless God calls us out of that life, we will continue to be spiritually dead forever. Ephesians 2:4  But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.  That is what Jesus did for Lazarus and is what He will do for us if we will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.  Have you done that?  If not, why not do it today?     Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textIn Psalm 7:1 David says O LORD my God, in You I put my trust; Save me from all those who persecute me; And deliver me. In verses 1-6 we see David asking for protection from those who are mistreating him because He knows God protects those who trust in Him. He knew that only God could rescue him. He declares his innocence and willingness to die if the charges were true.  He called on God who is the Judge of everyone to act on his behalf and get justice for him.  David knew where to go and who to pray to when his enemies were after him.  Where do we go?  We always need to go to God first in any and all situations because He is a righteous God.  He is the answer to all our problems whether He solves them or not.  He will comfort us and care for us and give us the ability to love those who don't deserve it. Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Do you believe this?" 27 She said to Him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world." 28 And when she had said these things, she went her way and secretly called Mary her sister, saying, "The Teacher has come and is calling for you." 29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly and came to Him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, but was in the place where Martha met Him. 31 Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and comforting her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, "She is going to the tomb to weep there." 32 Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died." 33 ¶ Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled.  34 And He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to Him, "Lord, come and see." 35 Jesus wept. 36 Then the Jews said, "See how He loved him!"              In this section of Scripture we see that Jesus has just told Martha that He is the Resurrection and the Life.  Then He asks a very important question. He says do you believe whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die?  Then she makes a great confession of who He is.  She gives Him three titles; He is the Lord, the Christ, and the Son of God.  First she says He is the Master and King over everything, He is Lord; and then she says He is the Messiah, the Anointed One, and then lastly the Son of God which speaks of His humanity.  He is all God and all man, that is what the Bible teaches. We then see her go get her sister Mary and then she falls at Jesus's feet and says that if only statement.  If only, we need to realize that the if only's do not matter in God's economy.  Then the famous statement of Jesus weeping over the effects of sin and death that have come into this world, even though they accomplish the purposes of God.  We need to remember that God uses all things to accomplish His purposes, even the bad things are being used to bring it all to the place where it all turns out just like He said it would in His Word, the Bible.     Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textJohn 11:17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. 18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away. 19 And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. 20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. 21 Then Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 "But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You." 23 Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." 24 Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day." 25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"           In this section of Scripture we see the famous saying of Jesus, that He is the Resurrection and the Life.  Mary says to Jesus, if only.  This is one of the three if only's in this section.  We always think if only, but God can even take the bad and turn it to His good “if only” we will trust Him and let Him do His work His way.  He lets Mary know that even though her brother had been dead for four days it was not too late.  Are you facing a situation that seems hopeless, that time is running out and it is not going the way you want it to?  Remember Jesus may be four days late in our way of thinking, but He is always right on time in working things out the right way, GOD's WAY….. Ephesians 3:20-21 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Send us a textThe phrase "For assuredly, I say to you”, "truly I say to you", "I tell you the truth" or “Amen, Amen” depending on your translation means what Jesus is about to say is very important. Jesus says that even the smallest letter or piece of the Old Testament writings will not go away until He has fulfilled all that He plans to do in the future.  Jesus was implying by this that all Scripture is inspired of God (God Breathed) and are His very words written down for us to live by. When He says inspired He means down to the very letters used, not just the words.  Jesus quoted the Old Testament frequently and so confirmed the truth written there. When God says something, you can be sure He meant it and He says every word of Scripture is there for our benefit.  Read it every day to be given wisdom and understanding.Matthew 5:17-18 "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. Send us a textThe scripture this week lets us know that no matter what is going on in our life that God is still in control and that Jesus is that God who came in human flesh John 1:14.  He wants us to trust Him no matter what and believe that whatever He does it is going to be okay and that it may seem to us He is late but He is a right on time God.                 What does it mean to believe God? It means to say, "God, I accept what You have to say and I'm going to just flop on it and I know it will hold." Just trust, that's what believing is. It's commitment; throw your whole self on God.            John 11:16 Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us also go, that we may die with Him." 17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away. 19 And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. 20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. 21 Then Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.  22 "But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You."  23 Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." 24 Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day." 25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"     Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Have you trusted Him as your Savior? He can Save you if You ask Him based on His death, burial, and resurrection for your sins. Send us a textJob said in Chapter 19:23 “Oh that my words were written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book! God did write Job's words down forever in His Word for those of us who know Christ and need a deeper walk with the Him and also to give us hope when are going through tough times and don't always know why.  We need to remember no matter what we are going through God means for it to bring glory to Him by making us more like Him, also to show a watching world how we respond to trials, and to show us and them that He is faithful to us no matter how tough life gets.  Look at these 3 verses in Romans 8. Verse 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
