To the west of Paris, a castle watches over the Seine, rooted in the forest and in history. The Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye represents a thousand years of power, art, and architecture. Birthplace of kings, hunting lodge, fortress, Renaissance palace, it became the cradle of classicism before being transformed into a museum, the National Archaeology Museum, inaugurated by Napoleon III.At the heart of the château is a jewel: the palatine chapel. A masterpiece of Rayonnant Gothic architecture, bathed in light, it inspired the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris. The castle was also a theater of war, splendor, and abandonment. Then resurrection.Today, it houses the National Archaeology Museum and preserves the memory of peoples and stones.A place of contrasts, between past grandeur and present vitality. A living monument, facing the ephemeral.Welcome to the history of architecture in all its majesty.Teaser image DR © Leonid AndronovSound: Com d'Archi podcast___If you like the podcast do not hesitate:. to subscribe so you don't miss the next episodes,. to leave us stars and a comment :-),. to follow us on Instagram @comdarchipodcast to find beautiful images, always chosen with care, so as to enrich your view on the subject.Nice week to all of you ! The Birthplace of Jesus Is in Palestine: A Memoir (Wipf and Stock, 2024) is a narrative of a Christian family in Bethlehem in the West Bank. Based on diary entries and interviews from 2000 to 2023, the Dutch author--an anthropologist and peace activist--chronicles the spontaneous reactions of his Palestinian children and wife navigating the challenges posed by curfews and checkpoints. Problems of Palestinian school life are shown from the perspective of teachers and students. Against the background of Israeli occupation and settlement building, the intricacies of Palestinian culture in its daily rhythms and domestic spaces come to life. Throughout the pages, the key Palestinian concept of sumud, or steadfastness, is explored. The memoir details acts of creative nonviolent resistance, individual protests, affirmations of cultural identity, and inspiring examples of Muslim-Christian community. The book also reveals unexpected connections between Palestinian culture in the Bethlehem area and broader Christian values and traditions. An afterword reflects upon implications of Israel's war in Gaza. Roberto Mazza is currently a visiting scholar at the Buffett Institute for Global Affairs at Northwestern University. He is the host of the Jerusalem Unplugged Podcast and to discuss and propose a book for interview can be reached at robbymazza@gmail.com. Blusky and IG: @robbyref Learn more about your ad choices. My special guest is Allison Huntington here to discuss her book called Bizarre Brooklyn. Get it now from Amazon.Brooklyn. The most populous borough in New York City. Birthplace of the Dodgers, Sweet'n Low, and Season 21 of "The Real World.'? With more than 400 years under its belt, the borough is filled with a history of both sweet and savory moments. It's hard to imagine Brooklyn as anything other than a concrete jungle. Who would guess that that first battle of the Revolutionary War was fought here? Or that the world's oldest subway is hidden beneath the streets of Boerum Hill? Or how an airplane fell from the sky and landed in the middle of the street in Park Slope? Hundreds of people pass by the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument in Fort Greene Park everyday. Virtually no one stops to read the plaque. If they did, they would learn that it is actually a grave, holding up to 15,000 bodies. Author Allison Huntington Chase, Brooklyn's own Madame Morbid, takes readers on a journey beyond the brownstones, to discover the hidden, macabre and bizarre throughout Brooklyn history.Mysterious Radio is transitioning to a show fully supported by my dedicated fans.
