Set in 1823 Montana, The Revenant follows Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio), a hunter with knowledge of the area and natives, as he leads a party of trappers through the wilderness of the Louisiana Purchase. But when Glass disturbs a grizzly bear with cubs, he is badly mauled and becomes a burden on the remaining members of the party. John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy) volunteers to stay behind with Glass’ son to see that he’s comfortable and has a proper burial upon his death. A misconstrued act of mercy leads to Glass’ son’s murder, and Fitzgerald flees. Left for dead, Glass must now overcome his fatal injuries and make his way across unforgiving wilderness to take his revenge on his son’s killer. Plus an update on our Kickstarter campaign. All that and more on this weeks 3Amoviegos!

This week on 3Amoviegos, Jennifer joins us to watch the bizarre and wildly truth-filled John Dies At The End. David and John are some sort of supernatural mediums, having partaken in a drug called “Soy Sauce” that gives them a non-linear perception of time and the ability to perceive alternate dimensions. They proceed to get involved in a police investigation, an inter-dimensional possession net and a cult of alternate timeline beings that view them as a fulfilled prophesy to be merged with Korrok, who rules without mercy. The real question is, does John really die at the end? And why has Leonardo DiCaprio not yet won an Oscar? You’ll have to check out this week’s episode to find out!
This week on 3Amoviegos Ian, Martyn & Joe fight the urge to “Sleep” under the spell of Alex Proyas’ Dark City. This 1998 cult classic pits John Murdoch (Rufus Sewell) against a hive-minded group of men known as Strangers who are hell bent on finding the meaning of the human soul in order to save their dying alien species. With a very noir style, the film follows John as he tries to find clues to his now erased memories and his newly discovered powers of mental “Tuning.” And he has to do it while trying to find his wife (Jennifer Connelly), running from the no-nonesense Inspector Bumstead (William Hurt), working with the intelligently odd Dr. Schreber (Kiefer Sutherland) and trying to find his way to the known-by-all but mysteriously inaccessible Shell Beach, where he supposedly grew up. But as we later see, things in this world aren’t at all what they seem, and the reason for John’s memory loss has everything to do with the strangers hive-minded “Tuning” ability to alter surroundings, minds and memories. Realizing that everything around him might be a maze, a concocted prison for all to be observed and experimented on, John knows that the truth lays somewhere outside the dark, and can be found if he could only reach Shell Beach. This wildly provocative film is what’s up on this week’s episode of 3Amoviegos.
This week on 3Amoviegos Ian, Martyn & Joe release their inner child with their awakened and matured minds and watch Disney and Pixar’s Wall•E. The year is 2805. Earth has been abandoned and left to stagnate in building sized mounds of garbage after decades of mass consumerism at the hands of the megacorporation Buy ’n’ Large. Only a single garbage collecting robot, WALL-E (Ben Burtt), remains. Along with his pet cockroach. After finding a sapling growing amongst the garbage, WALL-E is then surprised by a visit from a spaceship carrying EVE (Elissa Knight), a sleek and advanced probe robot who steals WALL-E’s heart. When WALL-E gifts her the sapling, EVE stores it inside herself and goes into sleep mode, waiting her return ship. When the ship returns to retrieve EVE, WALL-E tags along and is taken to the Axiom, an interstellar cruise ship containing a select and very overweight group of earthling descendants, still living in the grip of mass materialism hypnosis. When a plot to destroy the sapling and thus crush any hope of the Axiom returning to earth is revealed, it’s up to WALL-E, EVE and a small band of misfit robots to save the Axiom and it’s passengers from their zombification and return to earth to return the planet to it’s once fruitful glory! That, and more, on this week’s episode of 3Amoviegos.
This week on 3Amoviegos Ian, Martyn & Joe hop the border to obverse patriotism in a very sporadic conversation inspired by the 1996 Roland Emmerich disaster film, Independence Day. In the first of many Dystopian and Alien appearances over a career of films, Will Smith stars as Captain Hiller, an air force pilot who finds himself thrust into an alien invasion scenario and must team with Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman and Harry “The Goose" Connick Jr. to save the United States…and the world. Independence Day is an ultimate encounter of the third kind when a mysterious and hostile squadron of aliens mount an all out invasion against the human race. When 15 mile wide ships appear and begin exterminating every major city all over the world, the human race must band together and try everything they can to survive and defeat the invading extra-terrestrials…(cue “USA” chant) Light up a few fireworks and maybe a good weenie, take a step back in time with us and hear your heroes bounce from topic to topic all inspired by the plot of the film, and end with a barbecued version of Highlepenos, on this week’s Star-Spangled episode of 3Amoviegos.
This week, Ian, Martyn & Joe metaphorically shave their heads in an attempt to “Be Happy” while they talk about George Lucas’ debut feature film, THX-1138. THX-1138 is set in a society where sex is illegal, mind altering medications are mandatory to ensure their ability to perform dangerous tasks, and all surroundings are white, plain and maze-like. When factory worker THX-1138 (Robert Duvall) and his female roommate LUH-3417 (Maggie McOmie) start altering their medications and feeling emotional attachment to each other, they attract attention of the controlling entity of this dystopian 25th century world. Separated and imprisoned, THX sets out to rescue LUH and escape the powers that be, accompanied by the tempting and manipulative SEN-5241 (Donald Pleasance) and a hologram they encounter along the way, SRT-5752 (Don Pedro Colley). This 1971 American Zoetrope cult classic film calls into question the corporatization and medication of a culture, which seems to have being happening concurrently in the real world. It reminds us that we are humans and should not exist as puppets of the state in a suppressed, self-policing culture, and that we need to wake up to that on our own. All this, and the re-introduction of our rating system, Highlepeños, on this week’s episode of 3Amoviegos.
This week on 3Amoviegos Ian, Martyn & Joe ride side-saddle with special guest @Jenniferwillcut and discuss the concepts of Alex Winter’s Deep Web, moreso than the film itself. Deep Web is the story of Silk Road and the trials of Ross Ulbricht, creator and one of the administrators of Silk Road operating under the shared pseudonym, Dread Pirate Roberts. Winter explores the vast section of the World Wide Web that extends far beyond the confines of entities like Google, Facebook and even the Banking System. From the first appearances of Silk Road, to the waves it created for the problematic and failing “War on Drugs,” and revealing the blatant corruption and injustice that goes on daily in pursuit of an archaic crusade that has fostered more violence and corruption than the acts it was designed to combat. Deep Web is a film that everyone should see to understand certain elements of privacy, how it’s being subverted by the watchdogs of governing bodies everywhere, and how Keanu Reeves can narrate the hell out of a movie. All this and much more on this week’s 3Amoviegos.
This week on 3amoviegos, Ian, Martyn & Joe invite Shelby along to join them in seeing Dwayne “The Rock Cock” Johnson in San Andreas. In the aftermath of a massive earthquake in California, Ray (Johnson), a rescue-chopper pilot along with his wife (Carla Gugino) makes a dangerous journey across the state in order to rescue his estranged daughter, Blake (Alexandra Daddario.) Meanwhile, Paul Giamatti plays Lawrence, a Cal Tech seismologist who, along with his partner Kim (Will Yun Lee) have discovered a formula by which to predict and detect earthquakes. The question is, will it be enough? See how many different ways our heroes can switch up Dwayne “The Rock’s” name, on this episode of 3Amoviegos.
This week on 3Amoviegos, our heroes are left with the open question of what is morally wrong when it comes to creating and how to treat A.I. as they chat about Alex Garland’s Ex Machina. Computer programmer Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson) wins an an opportunity to spend one week in the estate of Google-like company Bluebook owner Nathan (Oscar Issac) in the mountains. Upon arrival, Caleb discovers that within this state-of-art research facility, Nathan has requested him there to perform a Turing test. We then discover that Nathan has created an artificial intelligence in a female body called Ava. Caleb is supposed to evaluate Ava’s A.I. and determine if it’s beyond doubt that she is a live consciousness. Through many interactions with Ava, and also with Nathan, Caleb is torn in many directions on my different moral levels, until we are all left with the question of what is life, what is consciousness, and what is truth? And we wrap up with show with a little chat about Bruce Jenner, on this week’s 3Amoviegos.
This week on 3Amoviegos we bring along our special guest Paul to see George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road. Starring Tom Hardy as Max, Charlize Theron as Furiosa, Nicholas Hoult as Nux and Hugh Keays-Byrne as Immortan Joe, this fourth installment of Miller’s tales of the legendary road warrior finds Max caught in the middle of a daring escape. When War Rig driver Furiosa decides to go rouge and help a group of 5 enslaved wives, selected especially for breeding by Immortan Joe, escape the ruthless cult tyrant, Max is thrust into a chase that’s not his, but fights for a cause he finds himself unable to abandon. Hear our four heroes talk an awful lot about a movie that had surprisingly little dialogue, on this week’s episode of 3Amoviegos.
This week on 3Amoviegos, Ian, Martyn & Joe ride again, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper & Keith David have what seems to be the longest fight in cinema history, and John Carpenter describes 2015 pretty accurately for 1988, in They Live. Roddy Piper stars as Nada, a drifter who, after befriending Frank (Keith David) notices some strange activity in and around a local shantytown soup kitchen, including constant TV signal hacking by a warning to everyone about those in power. After a midnight police raid of the shantytown and nearby church building, Nada finds a box of sunglasses that have the ability to see through disguises and reveals subliminal totalitarian commands in all media, and that many people around us are actually humanoid aliens with skull-like faces. Then, he decides to chew bubble gum…and kick some ass. After escaping with slightly less than compliant Holly (Meg Foster) and coming off as a complete nutter who babbles on about hidden messages and people, he gets knocked out a window and left to fend for himself. After Frank meets up with Nada to give him his paycheck, the previously mentioned fight occurs. Once Frank’s eyes are open, he and Nada meet up with a band of rebels, figure out what the alien being are after, and teleport to the source of the camouflaging alien signal; The local Cable news station, which is where Holly works. Everything culminates in a gunfight to destroy the signal at the top of the tower, along with Martyn’s disdain for the selfie stick. On this week’s episode of 3Amoviegos.
Depp plays Will Caster, prominent researcher and developer in the A.I. world. Along with his wife and trusted colleague, Will is trying to create a self-aware machine that contains infinite knowledge and full range of human personality and emotion. When he and his colleagues become the targets for radical guerrilla hackers, Will finds himself faced with the inescapable fact that he, out of necessity, becomes the first living participant in what he calls Transcendence. And it works. Suddenly Evelyn (Rebekah Hall) and Max (Paul Bettany) have to decide how much of this new Will is actually Will, and who’s interests is he working toward? An eventual split between Will’s thirst for knowledge and power and Max’s human morality sets the stage for the inevitable question. Can something that is smarter than you be stopped by you? We ride through this film accompanied by impressions of our favorite South African Rapper, a business proposal for Cowboy Curtis, the plot of the movie The Sandlot, a shoutout to a twitter fan, and a new blend called Allsorts. All this and more on this week’s episode of 3Amoviegos.
In the near future, crime is patrolled by an oppressive mechanized police force. When one police droid, Number 22, is damaged and then stolen, his designer Deon (Dev Patel) re-programs him with his newly cracked Artificial Intelligence system. Given the name Chappie, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. While living in an abandoned shipyard with pastel-loving Ninja and Yolandi (Die Antwoord), Chappie bounces between learning a creative and curious mindset to one of pseudo-gangster and mischief maker. When Chappie is discovered by Moore (Hugh Jackman), he and powerful, destructive forces start to see Chappie as a danger to mankind, and they will stop at nothing to maintain the status quo and ensure that Chappie is the last of his kind. We wrap it up this week with a track from Die Antwoord, Enter the Ninja. On this week’s episode of 3Amoviegos.
Set in Los Angeles 2019, Rick Deckard (Ford), is forced out of retirement to become a "Blade Runner" who's sole job is to track down bioengineered beings known as replicants and "retire" (destroy) them. Four Tyrell Corporation built Nexus-6 replicants are fixed with only a four-year lifespan and have returned to Earth illegally suspected to have come to try and extend their lives. Aside from Deckard's "passionate" behavior toward Rachel (Sean Young), we reminisce on the various "rapey" characters Harrison Ford has played from, Indiana Jones, Han Solo and Rick Deckard to… Dr. Richard Kimble? We discuss the nightmarish aesthetic of the movie, Ford's recent plane crash and his new forehead scar, how to safely guide a plane to an adventurous crash landing, the dangers of golf, the other actors ahead of Ford for the role of Deckard, Blade Runner as one of the first DVD's, what is it to be human, Jabba The Hutt walking around, the incredible hunting powers of an owl and the people who worship them, Nexus -6 Daryl Hanna's Best-Death scene and how thankful we are that the original cheesy ending was chopped from the directors cut. We close out the evening by dusting off our boots and sombreros before frolicking off into the sunset like Harrison Ford from Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade…but less rapey, more ridey.
Set in a dystopian future London, Qohen Leth (Waltz) an introverted and eccentric computer genius lives in his home inside a run-down cathedral-type church, waiting for his “call” containing an all knowing voice from which he seeks the answers and meaning of his life. When 'Management' (Matt Damon) assigns him to work at home on proving a mysterious Zero Theorem, Qohen finds himself battling against solitary madness, an ever present surveillance and accountability system, and the repetitive interjections by the flirtatious Bainsley (the love of Joe’s life, Melanie Thierry) and Bob (Lucas Hedges), Management’s super-genius son, all while simply trying to self-will the call that he desperately seeks and determine what is real and what is just inside the computers. Come with us as we try and keep our sanity on this week’s episode of 3Amoviegos.
Set in 1981, historically New York City’s most violent year, Abel Morales (Oscar Isaac), an upwardly respectable owner of Standard Oil, has his limits tested while trying to run a clean business in a world of corrupt competition. When the DA office starts an open investigation of Standard Oil, Abel's wife, Anna (Jessica Chastain), takes matters into her own hands in order to protect her family by double checking the company books after years of skimming money off the top and funneling it into a hidden savings account. Things heat up when the bank supporting Standard Oil backs out due to the growing investigation which is continuously fueled by a misguided young employee (Julian) and several thieves running their own hidden scheme. We hop around to so many different topics throughout the course of this weeks show, we might as well call it “A Most Random Episode.” All this, and the realization that Martyn is really 85 years old and is apparently losing his eyesight…on this weeks episode of 3Amoviegos.
This week on 3Amoviegos, Ian, Martyn & Joe are back in action to learn the beautifully deadly consequences of being the entitled brat of a Russian mobster who kills the only remaining hope of John Wick (Keanu Reeves). Set in the slightly askew and elite reality of classy, respectable professional killers, Wick, a retired top-tier assassin strikes respect in the hearts of everyone who's anyone by way of his unceasing equalizing vengeance. When Iosef, a silver spooned punk, breaks into Wick's house, ambushing him and killing the puppy his newly diseased wife left him, John decides to break retirement and even the score. In a film that seemed to be ultra violent in one of the most beautiful and cerebral ways, John Wick is a classic revenge flick for a post “Matrix” era of movie-goers, putting everything 'Liam Neeson' into it's crosshairs. All that and more on this week’s 3Amoviegos!
This week on 3Amoviegos, Martyn is out of town so we ventured into the vault to pull out a special “After Hours” episode where we talk about increasingly random subject matter while admittedly trying to smoke more than usual, just to see what happens. It's for science, folks. We discuss Robert Zemekis', The Walk, the plot of Superman III, Supergirl, the world that is Tinder, our Breaking Bad opinions, Drive, Liam Neeson and Quentin Tarantino films while wrapping it up in a cheap hotel with David Carradine. Our show this week is a random hodgepodge of movie and TV related chit-chat played to completion by Bob Marley himself, so saddle up and let's reach for the sky on this week’s 3Amoviegos!
This week on 3Amoviegos, we pack up the steeds, grab our skis and head into the frigid mountains of the Republic of Zubrowka in The Grand Budapest Hotel, directed by Wes Anderson. We step into this pop-up storybook adventure of how Zero Moustafa (F. Murray Abraham) acquires the Once-Upon-A-Time enchanted old ruin after simply taking a job as the new lobby boy (played by Tony Revolori), unwittingly guided by Monsieur Gustave H. (Ralph Fiennes), the Grand Budapest’s devoted concierge. We keep it symmetrical and rollercoaster a full circle ride through Anderson’s latest epic murder mystery and clever tale that may just leave you wishing your bedroom walls were light pink.
This week on 3Amoviegos we open our minds to the infinite possibilities involving "time" with James Marsh's biopic, The Theory of Everything, starring Eddie Redmayne (Stephen Hawking) and Felicity Jones (Jane Wilde). We discuss the impressive strength and determination of the human consciousness when afflicted with a disease that leaves a healthy mind trapped inside a motionless body, such as Dr. Steven Hawking. Hear us jump through in our conversation about a man dedicated to finding the origin of time and the performances that brought this nearly impossible feat of human endeavor to the screen in a humble and powerful way. So much so that it’s star, Eddie Redmayne, could have bumped Birdman’s Michael Keaton off the top spot for our steed riding compadres. We may need to clear the blackboard and reevaluate our calculations! All this and more on this weeks 3Amoviegos!
This week the 3Amoviegos talk about the films nominated for Best Picture Academy Awards and give an idea for who they think the winners might be. And then they chat about Boyhood. From the poor decisions of Patricia Arquette’s character, Mom, to the truth being passed down from Ethan Hawke’s Dad, all being filtered and observed from the very calm and collected eyes of Ellar Coletrane’s Mason. Sit with us through our discussion of a 3 hour movie that could have easily been 2. Then consider possibilities as we hear Ian’s story about seeing a UFO. All that and more on this weeks 3Amoviegos!
This week on 3Amoviegos, things get heated as Ian, Martyn and Joe discuss their various perceptions of Evan Goldberg's controversial film industry changer, The Interview, starring James Franco (Dave Skylark), Seth Rogen (Aaron Rappapaort) and Randall Park (Kim Jong-Un).
This week on 3Amoviegos, Ian, Martyn and Joe gallop to the holiday spirit by dipping their boots into Robin Williams' final film, Merry Friggin' Christmas... kind of. Fortunately, they only made it 20 minutes into the movie before coming to the realization that Krampus: The Christmas Devil was the only movie worth wasting anymore time over. Saddle up, shake some sleigh bells and slap that steed ass, let's ride! This is gonna be good!
This week Ian, Martyn and Joe attach chariots to their steeds and crash through Ridley Scott's, Exodus: Gods and Kings. The gang discuss Scott's interpretation of the epic Bible story of Moses freeing his people from enslavement by the Egyptians and uncover some unbelievable revelations - The ultimate game of thrones!
This week on 3Amoviegos, Ian, Martyn and Joe take a step into the vintage vault and dust off the fourteen year old Christopher Nolan low budget thriller, Memento. We take a walk through Nolan's amazing directorial catalog, our favorite Carrie-Anne Moss' quote and get the warm fuzzies over Joey Pants (Joe Pantoliano) and his ability to impress our steeds.
This week on 3Amoviegos, Ian, Martyn and Joe see Nightcrawler, directed by Dan Gilroy and starring Jake Gyllenhaal. We revel in how twisted and warped the media is at getting their hands on viral video on the streets of Los Angeles and why it's important to never believe anything you see on television.
This week Ian, Martyn and Joe chat about Christopher Nolan's latest film creation, Interstellar! In order to understand "Interstellar" you have to have a sharp and open mind willing to dive into deep space...well, 1 out of 3 ain't bad!
This week on 3Amoviegos, Ian, Martyn and Joe talk about David Fincher's, Gone Girl, while laughing throughout the entire process... which is weird because this movie was beautifully dark and messed up... and probably not really meant to be humorous. We dive into Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike's performances as well our favorite Neil Patrick Harris penis scene. **Spoilers**
This week on 3Amoviegos, Ian, Martyn and Joe chat about Kevin Smith's new comedic/horror film, Tusk, in this repurposed episode from High-Dere! Join us as we dissect the dark world of Howard Howe's walrus fetish and how Johnny Depp kicks ass for participating. Including words from special guest: Kevin Smith!
This week on 3Amoviegos, Ian, Martyn and Joe sneak into an off-Broadway screening of Birdman, and celebrate the return of Michael Keaton... not as Batman.
