On this episode, we discuss Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade. Our conversation covers: quests versus Gospel, works-based faith, elevating gifts over the Giver, and MUCH more!
Okay, this week I once again return to the SpielbergPod archives and to three episodes recorded back in 2015/2016. And these cover 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' (which I covered with Jake), 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' (which I discussed with Paul) and 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' (which Kieran and I talked about). So obviously, these were recorded many, many years ago (before 'Dial of Destiny' was even a glint in James Mangold's eye) but there's still some absolute gold here. And some impressions which, while were genuinely done out of love for these films and these characters, haven't aged well. Soz.
You have chosen wisely to join the hosts as they search the holy grail to celebrate their five year anniversary to review the final installment of one of the greatest trilogies ever made, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, starring Harrison Ford, Sean Connery and directed by Steven Spielberg. Many agree that the third and final film in the original Indiana Jones trilogy is definitely one of the most beloved in the entire franchise. The hosts pair the film with the Holy Grail Cocktail. So join the hosts as they fly across the world for fortune and glory as they review this wonderful adventure epic classic film. “You dolt! Do you think my son would be that stupid? That he would bring my diary all the way back here?” This week we spend time with our old friend Indiana Jones and this time his father is along for the ride too. This film marks the last of the 80's Indiana Jones films so how does it fare alongside Temple of Doom (Episode 20)? One thing is for sure, life is never dull with the Jones boys. So grab your whip, pick up your fedora and join us as we delve into the last crusade. As always feel free to get in touch on the links below. Cheersy! If the title wasn't a giveaway, we have learned that Charles Martinet will not longer be the voice of Mario in future Mario games, tis a sad day in gaming. Yet at the same time Gamescom is currently going on in Germany, and we got a wealth of gaming news to talk about. Activision pulled the lid off of the Modern Warfare III, Atari is trying to make another comeback, and oh yeah, Microsoft is selling Activision streaming rights to Ubisoft. Meanwhile in Hollywoodland, the WGA continue their strike and call out the big three, Disney announces a slew of physical releases for digital only shows, and Ahsoka is the best live action Star Wars show, full stop. Plus I give my honest opinion about my top 10 favorite 80s movies.

While commercially successful, both the critical and ratings board backlash against Indiana Jones And The Temple of Doom was almost too much for director Steven Spielberg to take. So much so, he wasn't sure he wanted to honor the three film deal he and friend George Lucas made, and he was looking at doing other things. At the time the third film was being developed, Spielberg had both Rain Man and Big on his desk to do. It was only after Lucas brought in writer Jeffrey Boam (and Spielberg was allowed to keep the story not so much about the McGuffin as it was about Indy's relationship with his father) that the director finally relented. The result, Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade. Looked at almost as more course correction than the end of a trilogy, the third Indiana Jones adventure brought in former James Bond Sean Connery, and was turned into a light hearted adventure that despite being released in the huge summer of 1989 (which also contained the already covered on this podcast Tim Burton film Batman) was still the biggest movie of the season, and would have seemed to send the whip cracking archaeologist literally into the sunset happy. Join Garrett, Matt, and Adam as they continue their dive into the Indiana Jones franchise with their review of Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade. And be sure to keep checking back as their review of Indiana Jones And The Dial of Destiny is right around the corner.

After thoroughly raiding the lost ark in their previous outing, Chris, Becky, and Seth found themselves on shockingly shaky ground with Indiana Jones superfans. Can the three opinionated podcasters escape the wrath of Indy's admirers this time around? When We Were Young excavates the further adventures of cinema's favorite tomb-raiding hunk, digging into Steven Spielberg's wildly different sequels. First up is 1984's INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM, which saw Harrison Ford joined by Kate Capshaw and Ke Huy Quan for a disturbing descent into human sacrifice and child slavery. Stuffed with gross-out gags and ultra-macabre special effects, the film outraged parents and alienated critics, but still managed to rake in plenty of that sweet summer movie money and become a staple in many VHS collections. (Thanks in large part to a McDonald's promotion!) And finally, we delve into 1989's INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE, which hewed closer to the adventuresome tone of the 1981 original, with daddy issues added to the mix as Sean Connery came aboard to play Indy's cranky but lovable father. It was, of course, another gigantic hit, capping off the original film trilogy while paving the way for a TV series, video games, and a super popular Disneyland ride that would hold us over until Dr. Jones' first return to the big screen nearly two decades later. Will When We Were Young rip fans' still-beating hearts from their chests and crush them with criticism once again? Or will we permit these sequels to sip from the Holy Grail and live on for all eternity? Today’s guest is not a filmmaker – but his best-known work is closely connected to one of the most popular movie series of all time. It is novelist Rob MacGregor, who wrote the novelization of Steven Spielberg’s third Indiana Jones movie, INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE – and then went on to write six more original Indy adventures shortly afterwards, starting with INDIANA JONES AND THE PERIL AT DELPHI in 1991 and then continuing with DANCE OF THE GIANTS, THE SEVEN VEILS, THE GENESIS DELUGE, THE UNICORN’S LEGACY and INDIANA JONES AND THE INTERIOR WORLD throughout 1991 and 1992.… The post #28: Mythology and Spirituality: Rob MacGregor on his Indiana Jones Novels appeared first on Talking Pictures.
Today’s guest is screenwriter and director Menno Meyjes, best known for his collaboration with Steven Spielberg in the 80’s. Menno was born in the Netherlands but moved to the United States in 1972 to study at the San Francisco Art Institute. After writing a script for one of the best-known episodes of Spielberg’s AMAZING STORIES TV series – “The Mission”, starring a young Kevin Costner and directed by Spielberg himself – Menno received an Academy Award nomination for his adaptation of Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel THE COLOR PURPLE, as directed by Spielberg. In this episode of Film Stories with Simon Brew, the belated return of Indiana Jones, and a smart British zombie film that faced a fair few challenges. After the huge success of the much-loved Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade at the end of the 1980s, there was an ongoing clamour for a fourth Indiana Jones adventure. But George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford had packed schedules - and didn't always see eye to eye on where to go next.Things were more straightforward story-wise with The Girl With All The Gifts. Author M R Carey was pretty much writing the novel and the screenplay of the story at the same time. And with a tenacious producer, funding slowly came together...Find Simon on Twitter at @simonbrew, and the podcast can be found at @filmstoriesSupport this podcast: www.patreon.com/simonbrew.Find our print magazines at store.filmstories.co.uk Hosted on Acast. We are talking about the results of the fan-voted top 104 80s movies. We asked people to vote round by round and reseeded each round so the high seed will always play the low seed. A BIGGER BOAT: THE COLOR PURPLE AND INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADETHE COLOR PURPLE (1985) was Spielberg's first big swing at the legitimacy he so desperately craved after a series of certified sensations (plus 1941). Adapted from Alice Walker's best seller, the legendary cast of future all-stars was a middling critical and commercial success. In 1985 you could have a movie based on a book by a black woman about specific black experiences, directed by a white guy from Arizona and adapted by a white guy from *checks notes*, um, The Netherlands, and it would garner only minor criticism. Not exactly the "good old days". Allen Daviau (who also lensed E.T. and Empire of the Sun) shoots one of Spielberg's best-looking movies but... is this really the story to make abject poverty and abuse look like a banking ad with sunsets and gently fluttering spores? A lot of the material is maybe mismatched with the way the movie is made and scored. It's a cosmic gumbo, for sure. How does it hold up in 2022? Then 1989's INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE, Spielberg's final Indiana Jones adventure (don't argue) and beloved by many fans. Connery plays dad to Harrison Ford. Do you need a roadmap why this works? A delightful send-off to a fine trilogy of films (don't argue). This week Jack and Thomas are joined by Shannon to work out why both of these films stand out in Spielberg's decade of dominance, for better or worse. One of the most entertaining gutters you're going to hear returns to avenge an earlier loss. We strike another one of the list as we approach the end of the Indy commentaries. In what is most likely considered the most beloved of the original trilogy, we give our thoughts on THE LAST CRUSADE. So grab the whip, fedora, grail diary and...your dad (?) as we have the last adventure of the original cast. Hopefully you like it, otherwise we should have mailed it to the Marksh brothersh. If you don't get that, you soon will once you imagine Sean Connery saying it. We ask that you either own the film on home video media or have a paid means of watching it. INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE is available to stream on Now TV Cinema at the moment. Sync audio with the very beginning of the Paramount logo. Don't worry too much as we will tell you when to press play as soon as the podcast begins. Spoilers for various films.
This week, Peter Alden And Pete Gould dust off their bullwhip, fedora & leather jacket to take a look back at "Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom" & "Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade". Also, we will have part two of our three part interview with actor Stunt performer Kevin Brassard, the original Indiana Jones performer form the Disney/ MGM Studios live action show "The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular". --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/the-adventures-of/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-adventures-of/support
Episode Number 50: HIGHLANDER (1986)This week marks our 50th episode. Thank you, everyone, for listening! For this episode, we review the 1986 film HIGHLANDER, directed by Russell Mulcahy (TALES FROM THE CRYPT, RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION), and starring Christopher Lambert (MORTAL COMBAT, BEOWOLF), Sean Connery, (DR NO, INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE), and Clancy Brown (JOHN DIES AT THE END, PET SEMATARY II). There can only be one!Have you seen this one?Send us know your thoughts at chrisandchristalkmovies@gmail.com Welcome to Chris & Chris Talk Movies. In this podcast, life-long friends Chris Ferry and Chris Huddleston discuss Sci Fi movies (sometimes the best Sci Fi movies, sometimes not), horror movies (occasionally some of the all time best horror movies…often…not), a few of the very best action movies (I think you see where we're going with this), and genre films from their childhood and beyond in this laid-back, rambling, but inviting series!Rated PG for occasional mature language and alcohol consumption.
David and Ryan discuss the art of protecting and properly displaying their collections, how they go about it, who they use to do it, and how, exactly, one goes about displaying Boba Fett's jetpack and the holy grail from INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE. Answer: one chooses wisely. They also wisely chose this week's guest — creator and host of Disney+'s PROP CULTURE, Dan Lanigan — to talk about his crazy, custom-designed movie prop dungeon and his equally bananas NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS collection.
