As someone who has been in the spotlight for most of her life, Zoë Kravitz is still finding ways to navigate how she's perceived by her fans. "I know a lot of people will tell me after we get to know each other that I seem intimidating or standoffish, or like maybe I'm a bitch or something, which I think is funny 'cause I don't think that's who I am," she told Chioma on this week's episode of The Run-Through.Often regarded as a "cool girl" for her effortless style and unmistakable talent as an actress and director, Zoë admits she doesn't connect with that label. "I don't really know what the word cool even means anymore. We kind of throw these words around like cool and iconic, and I'm like, 'What are we talking about?' But it's funny. I think in some ways it's a compliment because, you know, maybe it just means that I seem relaxed and kind of comfortable in my own skin."Over the past year, the British Vogue cover star has made headlines with her rumored engagement to Harry Styles. But in this candid interview, she discusses her life beyond the headlines — from starring in an upcoming heist film, How to Rob a Bank, alongside her friend and frequent co-star Nicholas Hoult, as well as Anna Sawai, John C. Reilly, and Christian Slater, to what it was like debuting braids on the red carpet when no one else was doing it."I struggled with my hair a lot growing up, as many Black girls do for obvious reasons. It's not something we see a lot of — or at least when I was a kid, even more so — you don't see it a lot in mainstream fashion. And so it's been a real journey emotionally. Now you also see all kinds of people rocking braids. I think I'm in a place of self-love with my hair, which also feels so nice and liberating."Earlier in the show, Chioma sits down with Vogue contributors and collaborators on the Zoë Kravitz shoot: Julia Sarr-Jamois and Tish Weinstock. They discuss how the cover came together, plus the wellness trends they're obsessed with and what you should actually wear to a summer wedding. The Run-Through with Vogue is your go-to podcast where fashion meets culture. Hosted by Chloe Malle, Head of Editorial Content, Vogue U.S.; Chioma Nnadi, Head of British Vogue; and Nicole Phelps, Director of Vogue Runway, each episode features the latest fashion news and exclusive designer and celebrity interviews. Welcome to Multiverse News, your source for information about all your favorite fictional universes.Marvel dropped the first full trailer for X-Men '97 Season 2 this week, confirming a July 1 premiere on Disney+ and Apocalypse as the season's central threat. The nine-episode season picks up from the Season 1 finale with the X-Men scattered across time from ancient Egypt to the far future, while those left behind in the '90s work to bring them back, with the trailer also sneaking in a Morph-as-Deadpool shapeshifting moment for good measure. A third season is already in production. On the Doomsday front, Joe and Anthony Russo posted a series of cryptic images to Instagram with various hints and teases towards an Avengers: Doomsday reveal connected to this week's SXSW Film Festival in London; as of Tuesday morning, the hype seems to have all been for a Doctor Doom themed coffee shop pop-up for attendees of the festival. James Gunn took to Instagram this week with a fit check from the set of Superman: Man of Tomorrow, revealing a first look at Nicholas Hoult in Lex Luthor's iconic mech-suit, which in the comics gives Luthor superhuman strength, flight, and force fields. The image also appears to show a sandy, otherworldly backdrop, leaving plenty to speculate about heading into the film's 2027 release. A24's Backrooms had one of the biggest opening weekends of the year, pulling in 81 million dollars domestically and 118 million worldwide in its debut, the largest opening in A24 history and more than triple what Civil War earned in 2024. The film was adapted from the viral YouTube web series by its creator Kane Parsons, who at 20 years old is now the youngest filmmaker ever to open a number one film, and was produced for roughly 10 million dollars. Meanwhile The Mandalorian and Grogu fell to third place after its second week in theaters with a 69% drop.Prime Video has renewed The Rings of Power for a fourth season ahead of its Season 3 debut later this year, with early preproduction beginning this fall and filming targeted for early 2027.A24 has released the first trailer for Primetime, starring Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen of Dateline NBC's To Catch a Predator fame, from acclaimed documentarian Lance Oppenheim, with the film set to premiere this fall.ElevenLabs has struck a deal with the estate of Stan Lee, licensing the Marvel legend's voice and likeness for AI-generated content available both to app users and commercial partners. The Minecraft Movie sequel now has a title: A Minecraft Movie Squared, due in theaters next July.HBO has dropped the full trailer for House of the Dragon Season 3, offering the first look at the season's major battle sequences, with the show returning June 21st.Anna Kendrick has been tapped to direct Netflix's adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.During Playstation's annual State of Play showcase, God of War: Laufey was announced to be the next entry in the franchise and an extended gameplay trailer for Insomaniac's Wolverine was released online.
In today's Daily Fix:Wizards of the Coast reportedly have remakes of Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 in development. While they have plans for a Baldur's Gate 4, it's likely a long ways off and a remake of the first two games would hopefully hold over fans during the wait. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 already received Enhanced Editions that were basically souped up remasters, and it's unclear what form these remakes will take. In other news, James Gunn has shared the first official look of Nicholas Hoult in the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, premiering next year. It features Hoult's Lex Luthor in full battle armor. And finally, we're visiting How to Train Your Dragon's Isle of Berk with the Ride Guys to fly through Hiccup's Wing Gliders – all at Universal Orlando Resort.Presented by Universal Orlando Resort, and its newest theme park, Universal Epic Universe.

Peter watches Mad Max: Fury Road for the first time in decades, and Eden — who has seen it at least a dozen times — watches the black-and-chrome edition alongside him. Peter finds the opening act almost too uncomfortable to watch, given its uncomfortable parallels to the current political moment, but gets fully on board the moment the sandstorm hits. They dig into what makes the film a masterpiece of practical filmmaking, why Furiosa holds up better than the prequel, and what it means that George Miller also made Babe: Pig in the City and Happy Feet.SHOW NOTESCheck-in / What we've been up to — Eden is riding their cargo bike in 35mph Iowa wind gusts; Peter is heading to Austin for an Intuitive Surgical robotics event. Eden vents about 18 months of accessibility compliance work being ignored by faculty who don't read their emails.Peter's picks — Finishing Dungeon Crawler Carl Book 6 (fun but disposable, and the online fandom's intensity baffles him); finished Season 2 of A Man on the Inside (Ted Danson and his real-life wife Mary Steenburgen falling for each other on screen — highly recommended); Taskmaster Series 21 has started, featuring Kumail Nanjiani. Big metal week — Peter covers a stack of new releases: Slave Machine by Nervosa (vicious all-female death-thrash from Brazil); Too Fast to Die by ArchSpire (potential album of the year if not for Neurosis); new Inferi album featuring departing drummer Spencer Moore; Descent by Immolation; and Master Boot Record's first live album Realtime Execution. Eden's picks — Eden is scrobbling again on Last.fm and shares a chaotic top-four week: Portishead, Rebecca Black (Salvation EP praised as a stone-cold classic), Neurosis, and new discovery Javiera Mena, a Chilean electro-pop artist. Also watched two bad movies with the bad movie crew: Firecracker (notable for a truly unhinged sex scene) and American Cyborg: Steel Warrior ("Children of Men with a $13 budget"). Currently reading a 3,500-page Chinese web novel called Long Awaited Feelings / My Feelings Can Wait. Why Peter struggled with the opening act — Peter found Immortan Joe's cult of worship uncomfortably familiar, given current events, describing it as George Miller predicting how "stupid and gullible people can be." He warmed to the film as it progressed, with the sandstorm sequence being the turning point."A perfect action film" — Eden's framing: not their favorite action film, but possibly a perfect one — no wasted frame, no wasted scene. They've seen it at least a dozen times, and this watch was the black-and-chrome edition, which Miller originally intended before the studio overruled him.Practical effects deep dive — 80–90% of the stunts were practical, shot on location in Namibia under miserable conditions. They highlight the pole-cat war boys actually swinging on moving vehicles, and the real flamethrower guitarist who was instructed not to hold the guitar too high.On the cast — Charlize Theron gets full credit for owning the film as Furiosa. Tom Hardy's near-silent, physically understated performance is praised. Nicholas Hoult's arc as Nux — going from zealot to sacrifice — is called out as the emotional hinge of the film.Frame rate trivia — Eden flags that 50–60% of the film was shot below 24fps, with Miller manipulating frame rates shot-by-shot to control tension and legibility.Furiosa comparison — Eden recommends the prequel but notes its heavy CGI and green screen make it feel cheaper and less embodied than Fury Road. Peter says he's now interested to watch it.The Babe 2 revelation — The episode ends on Eden's genuine disbelief that the director of Fury Road also made Babe: Pig in the City and Happy Feet, and a fun piece of trivia: Immortan Joe's actor, Hugh Keays-Byrne, also played Toecutter, the villain of the original Mad Max.

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesFive Star Review from Parakleets: Love the show and longtime listener to the network! I'm a big fan of the MCU and very excited for Doomsday. I can't wait to see the teaser trailers, but can't figure out why y'all are so mad about it? Does podcasting make you guys more critical or cynical about the “biz”? As quite the opposite of being a filthy casual, I'll happily watch whatever trailers the MCU gives me and then judge the marketing promo after all the teasers are released. The Countdown BeginsThe hotly anticipated first teaser trailer for Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday has officially arrived and with it some substantial reveals. The trailer originally debuted attached ahead of select screenings of Avatar: Fire & Ash last weekend, as expected, before being released online Tuesday morning. Prior to Tuesday morning's drop, reputable film industry trades like Variety already wasted no time running will spoiler-filled headlines addressing the spoilers and the week preceding the official release was plagued with leaked versions of varying quality sweeping the Internet; so, we've waiting long enough ourselves - spoilers inbound if you've somehow managed to avoid them. The trailer is here whether we like the release strategy or not; what do we think of our first official look at Doomsday?Brainiac On the DancefloorJames Gunn's quest to find the DCU's Brainiac has come to end, as Lars Eidenger's begins as he's been cast to play the classic villain in Superman sequel: Man of Tomorrow. The German actor, largely unfamiliar to American audiences but acclaimed for European work like Babylon Berlin, will face off against David Corenswet's Man of Steel and Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor in the sequel releasing July 9, 2027. Gunn has a penchant for taking gambles on relative unknowns and launching them to stardom, can he do it again for such an iconic and formidable foe?A Blue Christmas on Pandora? The aforementioned James Cameron's Avatar: Fire & Ash ignited the box office with a $345 million global opening weekend but opened roughly 22 percent below The Way of Water's $441 million debut. Early projections suggest Fire & Ash will finish around 1.7 to 1.8 billion worldwide rather than joining the elite $2 billion club like its predecessors, raising serious questions about whether Disney will greenlight Avatar 4 and Avatar 5. Has Cameron's box office dominance finally cooled off, or will the holiday legs carry Fire & Ash to the heights The All-Mother demands?Putting the Eye in IMAXChristopher Nolan's The Odyssey dropped its eagerly awaited first official trailer, showcasing Matt Damon in the title role battling to return home after the Trojan War in an epic shot entirely with new IMAX film camera technology. The highly anticipated adaptation features a stacked cast including Tom Holland as Odysseus' son Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as his wife Penelope, with the film already selling out 70MM Imax tickets at AMC and Regal ahead of its July 17, 2026 release. Can Nolan's ambitious vision of Homer's classic tale deliver another legend at the Box Office like Oppenheimer?

This episode examines Juror #2, Clint Eastwood's most recent—and perhaps final—film. Juror #2 centers around the trial of a man accused of murdering his girlfriend after a fight at a bar, leaving her in a ditch by the side of a road. The twist comes early: Justin Kemp a/k/a Juror #2 (played by Nicholas Hoult) soon realizes that the wrong man is on trial—as he hears the evidence, Kemp figures out that he, and not the defendant, killed the victim. Kemp realizes that he accidentally hit the defendant's girlfriend with his car while she was walking along the side of a road on a dark and rainy night—thinking at the time, that he had hit a deer. Kemp, otherwise portrayed as a good man—a loving husband with a baby on the way—must navigate the moral dilemma as he serves on a jury that seems prepared to condemn an innocent man. Eastwood's first courtroom drama in a long and legendary career, Juror #2 explores themes of justice, morality, and the imperfections of the legal system. "Professor, my dreams grow darker. Does evil come from within us, or from beyond?" We watched a double feature of the original "Nosferatu" from 1922, directed by F.W. Murnau, and the most recent version, "Nosferatu" from 2024, directed by Robert Eggers, and we may need to sleep with the lights on. The original "Nosferatu" is the archetype for not only modern vampire movies but for horror movies in general. Count Orlok, as portrayed by Max Schreck (yes, it's his real name), is so iconic that it's become part of vampire lore. The Eggers film took this century-old material and made it so spooky, so creepy, and so modern that it's sure to endure for just as long. Lily-Rose Depp is a revelation as Ellen Hutter, and Billy Skarsgård is securing himself on the Mount Rushmore of modern horror. Nicholas Hoult and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are easy on the eyes, but the grotesque, eerie performances by Depp and Skarsgård seal the deal. This week on Fantastic Forum, we're putting the big blue boy scout under the microscope as we dive into James Gunn's bold new Superman movie, featuring David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. There's no origin story this time. Gunn skips it completely and drops us into a mid-career Superman who is already a public hero. Does this reboot strike the balance between hope and heroism, or is it all flash with no feeling? Watch tonight at 6:30pm PT at www.fantasticforum.live and call in live to share your take! “Enduring night. A spectre of death. He spreads his shadow, and he's coming.” An intertitle from a 1922 film reads: “Nosferatu. Does this word not sound like the deathbird calling your name at midnight? Beware you never say it—for then the pictures of life will fade to shadows, haunting dreams will climb forth from your heart and feed on your blood.” This week, we continue our seventh annual Freaky Film Festival with a gothic horror remake. On Episode 139 of The Film ‘89 Podcast, Skye is joined by frequent co-host Leighton Winstone as well someone making her long awaited return to Film '89 after she first appeared 5 years ago on Episode 55, our very good friend, Leanne Kubicz. This battle-hardened trio will be smearing axle grease across their brows and packing as much water as they can carry as they head into a post-apocalyptic wasteland to celebrate the 10th anniversary of director George Miller's fourth entry in his long-running Mad Max saga that began in 1979, had sequels in 1981 and 1985 and then a 30 year gap before the 72 year old director went on a years long odyssey in the Namibian desert with $150 million of Warner Bros' money. Through strife and hardship he returned with a film widely regarded as one of the greatest action films ever made and one of the greatest films of the 21st century, Mad Max: Fury Road. Starring Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult, Fury Road is a film unlike any other in terms of the level of on-screen mayhem and carnage it displays. As fascinating as the film is the story of it's long and arduous production and our team delve into how the incredible assembled talent both in front of the camera and behind the scenes helped craft one of the most visually astonishing films ever made and an example of big screen action-spectacle like no other.
Last year, director Robert Eggers, who burst onto the horror filmmaking scene with The Witch and The Lighthouse, premiered his remake of the classic 1922 silent German Expressionist vampire film. Starring Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, and Willem Dafoe, the film sees Bill Skarsgård step into the iconic Max Schreck role of Count Orlock. This is adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula bewitched audiences, becoming Egger's highest-grossing film to date, and earned four Academy Awards nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. But as we kick off our month of spooky movies, are our hosts seduced by this symphony of horror. Or, like a bad cover version, is Eggers' take ultimately toothless? James Gunn has called the movie's success the “biggest relief of his life” because if it hadn't worked, the future of the entire DCU slate—from Supergirl to Lanterns—would have been in jeopardy.Superman Box Office UpdateDomestic box office: $353,302,360International box office: $260,800,000Worldwide total: $614,102,360This breakdown shows how crucial U.S. audiences remain for superhero films, even as international numbers grow.Variety and Deadline Report on Superman Profit MarginSuperman has an 8-week profit margin of about $125 million. It is the seventh-highest grossing film of the year.By comparison Man of Steel's profit margin was $42.7 million. We explain why domestic is still more profitable to studios than international.Gunn Relieved by Superman SuccessJames Gunn admitted that Superman's success was critical for DC Studios:“If Superman didn't work, I'm the head of DC Studios! It's been a cursed and horny week! While Nora is off on a stylish and fabulous vacation, Jodi is joined by prolific hot chocolate drinker Sophia Benoit to go through some real headlines that sound pretty fake concerning Crumbl cookies, Sarah Jessica Parker, Denise Richards, and JoJo Siwa (3:34). Then, they go through all the celebrity and nepo-baby couples that are revealing themselves in this summer cuffing season (33:41), and Sophia gives a dispatch from the ‘Bachelor' universe (55:32). Finally, they gush over some very sexy press tours, from Nicholas Hoult's bleached blond hair for ‘Superman' to Jonathan Bailey kissing Scarlett Johansson for ‘Jurassic World Rebirth' (1:03:06), before each sharing their personal obsessions of the week (1:23:18). Email us with your latest obsessions at wereobsessedpod@gmail.com! Hosts: Jodi Walker and Sophia Benoit Producers: Sasha Ashall and Belle Roman Learn more about your ad choices. Nicholas Hoult (Superman, The Great, Nosferatu) is a Golden Globe-nominated actor. Nicholas joins the Armchair Expert to discuss how becoming a blonde for a role hasn't changed his personality, how he inspired Dax's body reckoning, and dramatically overreacting when he tore his ACL on the basketball court. Nicholas and Dax talk about not feeling good enough for motorcycles to be his identity, what roles people still approach him about on the street, and how coming on the pod really gives his self esteem a boost. Nicholas explains the personal information he learned playing JD Salinger, gleaning wisdom about the emotional art form of acting while working with Clint Eastwood, and putting judgement aside when portraying villainous characters like Lex Luthor in the new Superman. Ah, here he comes, that son of a gun, that cat, that Garfield, that gigantic thing -- except... There's something different about him. It's weird. He just doesn't seem very... Garfield-y? Anyway, in honor of the birthday of one of our great Americans, Garfield the cat, and also maybe one other guy, we take on 2024's The Garfield Movie.Wikipedia page for The Garfield MovieRecommended in this episode:Dan: The Thief and the Cobbler "Recobbled Cut" (1993)Stu: Jack's Back (1988)Elliott: An Actor's Revenge (1963)Head to squarespace.com/FLOP for a free trial, and when you're ready to launch, use OFFER CODE: FLOP to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain.
