    How To Deal With Envy

“Envy Can Be Good For You”Wait, What?!Hear me out, there is a HUGE difference between envy and jealousy. Jealousy is a strong emotion fuelled by fear and loss. When you percieve someone has taken something that you are emotionally attached to or is threatening to do this, you react by feeling hurt and angry.Envy on the other hand is about coveting something you don't have. The person you envy has what you aspire to. With this age of social media it has never been easier to feel both these emotions. I am a big believer in observing our emotional triggers and reflecting on what they are telling you.You can follow your envy to discover new talents, use it as a motivator to follow your ambitions. It can sometimes shine a spotlight on a blind spot i.e. if you find yourself envying people in a certain profession or industry, or perhaps giving a TED Talk, doing a creative hobby. It's good to sit with those feelings and reflect on what they are telling you...do you want to be giving talks? Travelling? Doing something more creative? In this episode hear how I deal with envy and some suggestions on how you can too!

    The Power Of Ancestral Healing

The field of intergenerational trauma healing, also called ancestral healing, is both very new and extremely ancient. I came across this vital work 4 years ago when a dear friend mentioned perhaps some of my post natal depression was linked to generational trauma. Fascinated I began a journey of discovery and growth in this area which has been incredibley healing and empowering.  Ancestral healing is based on the understanding that the past does not simply disappear. The painful histories that our ancestors endured as well as their rich cultural wisdom linger and intertwine within us to create the patterns of who we are and who we are becoming. It applies to all groups and ethnicities who have suffered grave challenges such as war, discrimination, poverty, or displacement. The historical patterns of our ancestors as well as their rich cultural wisdom intertwine within us to create the psychological and genetic material of our future. Even when past pain remains unspoken or has long been forgotten, it becomes part of us and our children—a legacy of both strength and wounds that shapes our lives. However, it is in our power to transform our families' traumas into blessings, and  wounds into wisdom. We can learn to release the patterns and behaviours that have come down to us and strengthen and energise the legacies that are positive and life-giving. Learn how in this episode!

I have debated whether to say something but I have been struggling with something for a while now and I wanted to share in case it's something you are dealing with too. ⁣⁣I am finding it hard to be accepting of women and organisations that are publicly declaring they are about supporting other women, the sisterhood and empowering each other but I KNOW they have been underhand, jealous and just not very nice to me, about me and others. I am struggling with the hypocrisy, the truth, the negativity and how to deal with it. ⁣⁣I can feel the competitive energy, the envy and resentment and it's been very difficult to know how to handle the facts, the emotions and feelings that have come up as a result, especially when it is from women I genuinely admire and think highly of. ⁣⁣There was a point when it made me want to pack it all in. ⁣⁣Have you ever had to deal with something like this? ⁣ In this episode I share how I have dealt with this and suggestions to help you if you are going through the same.We can connect on IG: https://www.instagram.com/a.w.m.b/On our site: https://www.asianwomenmeanbusiness.com⁣

Have you ever felt that your days are passing you by without the meaning and depth you desire? What did you accomplish in the past month? What are your goals for the next two months? Look at the things that you have been doing and the things that you're planning to do next — do they mean anything to you if you are to die today? Having a life list reminds you of what's really important to you so that you can act on them.I think milestone birthdays are a perfect moment to pause and reflect and ask “am I living a life true to me?”. Well, it's different for every woman, but one way to “get started living” is to create a LIFE LIST to spur you into action from here on out.Similar to a bucket list a LIFE list is a list of all the goals you want to achieve, dreams you want to fulfil, and life experiences you wish to try during this lifetime. It's a list to identify everything you've ever wanted to do, whether it's big or small, purposeful or random. The whole point of creating a list is to maximize every moment of our existence and live our life to the fullest. It's a reminder of all the things we want to achieve in our time on Earth so that instead of spending our time on pointless things, we direct it toward things that matter to us.Create Your Life ListNow, take out your pen and paper or open up a text document. To honour World Book Day in 2021 I wanted to share a book that changed my life when I first read it many years ago and continue to read every year. ⁣⁣The Top Five Regrets of The Dying by Bronnie Ware. ⁣Bronnie is an Australian nurse who spent several years working in palliative care, caring for patients in the last 12 weeks of their lives. When questioned about any regrets they had or anything they would do differently common themes surfaced again and again ⁣⁣In this episode I go through each regret and how it relates to me and you."I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.""I wish I hadn't worked so hard.""I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.""I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.""I wish that I had let myself be happier."We can learn SO much from this. I don't want to reach the end of my days with the same regrets and I don't want you to either. ⁣Do let me know what you think.

    The Journey To Self Love

Growing up, I was raised with the idea that I must put myself last in everything I do. Whether it was a goal, a dream, or an idea for dinner, I needed to put myself last in order to elevate other people. I grew up to be selfless in every aspect that I often would do things and not even realise that I was simply doing what I thought others would want me to do, not what I felt in my heart that I needed to do. This is common for many women in our community, we prioritise others and shrink ourselves.Self-Love had been such a foreign concept to me. I still believe that being selfless is such an amazing quality and I believe that selflessness is an important character trait to posses. That being said, I have learned that when you love yourself and make your well-being a priority, you can serve other's in such a better capacity! I've learned that in order to serve others in a truly selfless way, you need to love yourself first. You can not pour from an empty cup! Some of the key learnings:Self love has taught me to not be a martyr. I cant give to others to the detriment of myselfI have learned to be myself UNAPOLOGETICALLY because I love myself deeply It's a daily practise that has to be cultivated Self love is not a destination to be reached when certain conditions are meant, it starts now!Make the decision to master your life and start living as the most joyful, successful version of yourself possible. Choosing Courage Over Comfort

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 5, 2021 12:26

In this episode I share why it's important to choose courage over comfort and how you can do that. The root of the word courage is cor – the Latin word for heart. In one of its earliest forms, the word courage meant “To speak one's mind by telling all one's heart.” Over time, this definition has changed, and today, we typically associate courage with heroic and brave deeds.Equally as epic as physical courage is moral courage - the ability to act on your ethics at the risk of being trolled, humiliated and embarrassed.New York Times bestselling author  Dr. Brené Brown in her Netflix special Brené Brown: The Call To Courage,  discusses how to choose courage over comfort in a time and culture of fear and uncertainty. She starts every day by putting her feet on the floor and saying, “Today I will choose courage over comfort. I can't make any promises for tomorrow, but today I will choose to be brave.”I share five ways you can become more courageous:1. Join a cause bigger than you 2. Lean into your identity 3. 20 Seconds of insane courage 4. Do something scary once a week 5. Courage is contagious If you're ready to learn how to live a bold, epic life, you have to decide that your dreams are more important than your fears. Our Inspire Club reopens in March! List is open  here.

It can be so hard when your relationships are shifting and you feel you have little in common with those that you considered to be your closest. These changes whilst being inevitable can be painful and lead to a sense of discomfort as you find your place and a community that you fit in with. This has been the biggest learning of my life. I had to understand that we attract people into our life because:A) We were vibrating at a similar level of consciousness and were a vibrational match at that particular time.B) We had certain lessons to teach each other's souls. Your relationship was an opportunity to learn those lessons and serve each other's growth.Nothing is permanent.Relationships last as long as both of your souls need. Friendships last as long as you are resonating on the same vibrational level.Everything in life is in a constant state of evolution. It's the same with friendships. So who do you need to let go of in your life?

"Maybe it did take a crisis to get to know yourself; maybe you needed to get whacked hard by life before you understood what you wanted out of it.” Jodi Picoult ⁣It's impossible to ignore what's going on in the world right now, but it is completely possible to cultivate a positive mindset, interrupt fear and worry and ultimately thrive during this time.  Life  will always be full of unexpected turns. When faced with difficulties, such as the current pandemic or  illness, death, divorce, job loss, failures or other painful life events, it can feel disorienting and you may feel as though the ground beneath you is no longer stable. I know thats how felt when he reality of COVID 19 hit us - I had paid work cancelled, I was worried about the health implications for me and my loved ones, school was cancelled for my daughter it all felt too much and fear really kicked in. I remember berating myself about leaving my Head of HR role just a month, the loss of that regular income was a blow at a time when things were so uncertain. The way we respond in the face of adversity determines whether we SURVIVE or THRIVE. To survive means to exist and to endure, to thrive means to flourish and prosper. How can you make sure you thrive? How can you make sure that no matter what you face, you'll always be able to come out the other side with your dreams, vision and hopes to live your best life intact? In this episode, that's exactly what I want to share with you. This will not the be the first time many of us have faced a difficult time, what I heave learnt through other tough times is that: I have choice on how I respond. Victor Frankl, Man's Search For Meaning  said “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way. Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”I have cultivated a tool kit that empowers me to thrive at all times but especially in tough timesI have to be intentional with using this tool kit and developing daily routines that keep me on track otherwise I slip into survival modeEnjoy the episode! The King's Finger A Story To Help You Surrender: https://www.asianwomenmeanbusiness.com/a-story-to-help-you-surrender/
