On this episode, Dr Shonda Garner Brooks, talks about what to put in your basic disaster supply kit in face of climate-related emergencies that arise anywhere, anytime. Family Strong Foundation wants to help to safeguard your family by preparing in advance a disaster plan you can follow no matter where or when action may be needed. After an emergency, you may need to survive on your own for several days. Being prepared means having your own food, water, and other supplies to last for several days. A disaster supplies kit is a collection of basic items your household may need in the event of an emergency.
On this episode of our guest are Mr. Justin Knight & Mr. John Duhon. They join Family Strong Foundation to talk all about Jones Creek Rescue Team. A 501c search and rescue organization that is setup to do disaster water rescue and search operations. They also help distribute supplies to the disaster areas. In addition, they operate and maintain a hunting property where they work with veterans and active duty by providing a safe place for them to enjoy the outdoors at no charge.
Food waste worldwide is an alarming issue. That is why on the last Wednesday in April, Stop Food Waste Day raises awareness of the growing concern of food waste. According to the USDA, Americans waste between 30-40 percent of the food supply. That is near or more than the worldwide estimate of 1/3 of the world's consumable waste. Additionally, food waste occurs for many reasons all along the food chain.

Wronetta Charles is a native of Opelousas, LA. She is a two-time graduate of Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from there in 1998, as well as her Master of Science degree in Nursing Education in 2003. In 2004, she earned a postmaster's certificate as a family nurse practitioner from Southern University. In 2013, she obtained her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. In 2017, she obtained her poster master's psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner certificate from Southeastern LA University. Since 2017, she has been practicing full time as a PMHNP. In 2017, she opened her private practice, Mind and Body Connections LLC. She has been committed to providing access to quality care to those who seek it. Her hopes is to one day be able to provide integrative care where she can use both of her certifications as a FNP and PMHNP and manage the health care needs of the “entire patient”, Mind representing mental health, and Body representing physical health during one exam.

Miller is a 2nd term member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, representing District 40. Miller first assumed office on January 11, 2016. He earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a Master of Science in nursing from Southern University, and went on to become a family nurse practitioner. For the 2019-2020 legislative session Representative Miller has been assigned to the following committees: Louisiana State Legislature Joint Legislative Budget Committee, House of Representatives' Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture and Rural Development Committee House of Representatives' Appropriations Committee, and serves as the Vice Chair of the House of Representatives' Health and Welfare Committee.
