Scams and safety threats don't always announce themselves. Sometimes they start quietly, with a moment of distraction, a strange feeling you ignore, or a situation that shifts just enough to test whether you're paying attention. My guest today is S. Gale Bleth, a personal safety educator, certified RAD self-defense instructor, speaker, and author of Aware: A Personal Safety Playbook for Leaving the Nest. Gale brings a deep background in crime prevention and safety education, including 16 years at Cal State East Bay and 16 years as a crime prevention specialist with the Hayward Police Department. Personal safety is not about walking around scared or suspicious of everyone. It is about giving yourself a few simple habits to fall back on when something feels off, so you can pause, read the situation, and decide what to do next. We talk about Gale's AWARE method, the idea that most safety starts with education, and the small choices that can matter more than people realize: putting the phone away in a parking lot, noticing exits when you walk into a building, and trusting that uneasy feeling instead of brushing it off. Gale also explains what makes someone a useful witness, why details matter, and how awareness can help without turning everyday life into something fearful. Show Notes: [01:00] S. Gale Bleth shares how her career began in higher education, where she worked with student organizations, supported campus events, and discovered her interest in teaching and training. [03:10] A campus safety role led to RAD self-defense training, which eventually became a major part of Gale's work and helped shape her approach to personal safety education. [05:28] How children's safety training has evolved, including the continued importance of stranger awareness and helping kids recognize uncomfortable touch. [07:00] The meaning behind Gale's AWARE method: Alert, Watch, Assess, Respond, and Escape. [09:36] A practical example of how the AWARE method can help someone assess risk in a social setting and decide whether to stay or leave. [13:10] Why people need to trust the feeling that something is off instead of dismissing their instincts or ignoring their surroundings. [15:00] Cooper's color code of awareness explains the difference between being unaware, casually alert, actively concerned, and forced to respond in danger. [18:00] Education plays a major role in personal safety because it helps people avoid freezing or panicking when something unexpected happens. [19:45] The importance of knowing escape routes in public places, especially at concerts, restaurants, theaters, and other crowded locations. [22:13] What it looks like when someone's behavior does not match the setting, and why that can be a signal to pay closer attention. [24:30] How to balance awareness with basic kindness when interacting with people who may seem unstable, angry, or unpredictable. [27:58] Confident body language, voice, and boundaries can help people protect themselves before a situation escalates physically. [28:33] Why phones create vulnerability in parking garages, airports, travel settings, and other places where attention matters. [31:45] The AWARE method can become an everyday safety habit that helps people notice, assess, and respond with more confidence. [33:01] Being a good witness can be more helpful than trying to be a hero, especially when law enforcement needs clear details. [35:10] Gale explains how to practice observing people, vehicles, direction of travel, clothing, and other details before an emergency happens. [37:20] Specific details such as tattoos, accents, clothing, weapons, or which direction someone ran can make a witness report much more useful. [39:34] Vehicle descriptions, license plates, cameras, and direction of flight can all help investigators connect important pieces of information. [42:33] Gale shares where listeners can find her online and learn more about Aware: A Personal Safety Playbook for Leaving the Nest. Thanks for joining us on Easy Prey. Dr. Stephanie Rimka is a pioneering clinician who authored the book, "Receive: The Dance of Feminine Power." Learn more at https://drrimka.com EPISODE SUMMARY BELOW: 1. Vision for Treatment Islands Ambition to build residential centers on multiple islands Preference to remain near the United States and in jurisdictions allowing gun ownership 2. Challenges with International Patients and Systems Difficulties treating patients from Australia and Canada Systemic obstacles to providing care across borders 3. COVID-19 Era Reflections and Medical Discourse Early preparedness with peptide therapies and supportive protocols -- At the pandemic's onset, certain clinicians organized protocols incorporating peptides (e.g., thymosin alpha-1), nicotine, methylene blue, and adjuncts like ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine to support immunity and nutrient delivery, leveraging prior peptide therapy experience. Belief that the pandemic response was misleading and coercive Censorship and platform restrictions -- Recounting bans and throttling on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, resorting to coded language (e.g., "cupcake") to avoid content moderation and experiencing extended live bans. 4. Social Media Enforcement and Pharmaceutical Influence Allegation of coordinated reporting by Eli Lilly -- Dr. Rimka says Instagram notified her that Eli Lilly reported her account, coinciding with actions against peers. She speculates that microdosing education threatened sales by reducing dosing volume. Selective enforcement and inconsistent standards -- Frustration is expressed over perceived preferential treatment of similar content by others and retroactive flagging of archived posts, reinforcing a sense of targeted suppression. 5. Regulatory Changes in Peptide Therapy Historical context and global research base Reclassification and access restrictions post-COVID -- Key peptides (e.g., TA1) became difficult to source after regulatory changes limiting compounding pharmacies. Clinicians turned to research-use-only and international sources, creating delays and uncertainty, which Rimka attributes to pharmaceutical efforts to limit widespread peptide use. Shift toward FDA approvals and evolving legal landscape 6. Regulatory Reclassification, Patents, and Natural Substances Peptides are naturally occurring and should not be restricted Pharma patents delivery systems/binders to capture markets 7. Pharma Influence and COVID-19 Coordination Claims Early warnings from contacts in China -- Dr. Rimka cites late-2019 warnings from contacts in Hong Kong/Shanghai who moved to Singapore and ceased WeChat communications, interpreted as signals of impending danger. Pharma's dominant role over government -- Assertions that pharma influences U.S. policy and suspect foul play in COVID-19's origins, drawing parallels to alleged bioweapon narratives involving Lyme disease and alpha-gal syndrome. 8. Intent Behind Global Response to COVID-19 Population control and compliance -- Mass vaccination and public health measures were designed to control and desensitize populations, testing compliance via mandates and social cues. Desensitization to tracking and bio-integrated technologies -- Warn of normalization of biometrics, implanted chips, and digital credentials, eroding autonomy and reshaping identity. 9. Vaccination Schedules, Immune Claims, and Endocrine Concerns Modern immunization schedules are excessive -- The interlocutors argue current infant vaccine schedules are unprecedentedly large compared to past generations. Rejection of autoimmune disease concept Vaccines and environmental endocrine disruptors -- Vaccine components and environmental chemicals (BPA, phthalates, microplastics) may influence sexuality and identity, citing animal studies and extrapolating to human exposures. 10. Nanotechnology, Frequencies, and Neurofeedback Potential for nano-chips/robots to alter physiology -- Dr. Rimka references public claims of nanotechnology capable of modulating cellular function and suggests undisclosed uses may exist, potentially via injections or environmental exposure. Brain manipulation and external frequency influences -- As a neurofeedback practitioner, Dr. Rimka describes modulating brain states via EEG-guided training and hypothesize that external infrastructures (e.g., 5G towers) could emit localized pulses affecting sleep, fatigue, and headaches. 11. Autism, Vaccine Injury, and Institutional Trust Correlation between vaccines and neurotoxicity -- The conversation frames vaccination as a high risk, referencing vaccine injury claims and the existence of a Vaccine Court, attributing neurotoxic effects to schedule components. CDC and FDA as misinformation sources 12. Personal Safety, Loss, and Public Pressure Denial of suicidality and acknowledgment of pressure -- Dr. Rimka confirms she is not suicidal, reflecting on past fears during heightened public controversy and the burden of advocacy when her child was young. Partner's death and suspected vaccine link Practitioner deaths and mentor loss -- A period of suspicious deaths among functional health practitioners, including her mentor, Dr. John Hicks, amplifying her sense of risk in the field. 13. Vaccine Lot Variability and Experimental Control Claims Variable vaccine lots and possible placebos -- Some vaccine lots may have been placebos, implying controlled experimentation and differential risk among recipients. 14. Peptides and Early Pandemic Protocols TA1, nicotine, methylene blue, ivermectin, and hydroxychloroquine -- Dr. Rimka details clinician-driven "stacking" strategies combining TA1 with nicotine and methylene blue, alongside ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, to enhance immune support, nutrient delivery, and reduce dosages during shortages. Public awareness of peptides was limited at the time. 15. Lyme Disease, Alpha-gal, and Non-Vaccine Strategies Lyme and alpha-gal as engineered threats -- Dr. Rimka characterizes Lyme disease as man-made with multiple vectors and views alpha-gal syndrome as unprecedented and possibly engineered, linking observed field anomalies to concerning patterns and anticipated vaccine rollouts. System optimization and aggressive post-bite protocols -- Recommended approaches include immune modulation, readiness with specific products, and rapid "killing and binding" after bites. CellCore Biosciences protocols spanning 10–12 months for chelation and pathogen elimination are endorsed, with guidance to work with trained clinicians. Electromagnetic devices and mitochondrial charge -- Bob Beck protocol devices (e.g., SOTA) and frequency-based tools to raise cellular/mitochondrial charge, positing cellular voltage as a fundamental determinant of recovery capacity. Practical toolkit -- Suggested on-hand items include DMSO, turpentine, ivermectin, silver, specific devices, peptides like TA1, and tinctures for Borrelia and Babesia, with an emphasis on early, aggressive intervention. 16. Public Communication, Professional Constraints, and Promotion Polarizing messaging and informed consent Tension between education and platform policy Credentials, partnerships, and book -- Dr. Rimka discusses her book, "Receive: The Dance of Feminine Power," emphasizing balanced masculine-feminine energies, honoring reception to reduce burnout, and reflections on motherhood and work. She also suggests a peptide stack (Klotho, Follistatin, Cell Factor).

Reporting a sexual assault is deeply challenging in any context, so what happens when you’re in a war-torn region, where infrastructure has crumbled, and justice systems are non-existent? Associate Professor David Wells retired as Victoria's top forensic physician in 2013. Since then, his work has taken him to some of the world's most volatile places, including Gaza, the West Bank, and other corners of the globe where conflict has gutted hospitals and justice systems alike. There, he's helped build systems to support survivors of sexual violence, often under near impossible conditions. In this episode, David takes us to the front lines of forensic medicine in a conflict zone, and reflects on the challenge of treating survivors where hospitals barely exist, and navigating the cultural, legal and ethical landmines that surround violence in war. What does it take to offer care when the world is falling apart? And what role can forensic medicine play, not just in accountability, but in healing? “True self-confidence can only be gained through self-discipline.”  Most men never discover what they're made of because they've never been pushed to their limit. This episode lays down the framework for rejecting mediocrity, confronting personal weakness, and choosing a life of discipline over default. It's a philosophy built not on self-help fluff but on ancient truths, forged character, and real-world grit.  Knife designer, martial artist, and entrepreneur Ernest Emerson breaks down what it takes to become an uncommon man. He outlines five core virtues—honesty, personal responsibility, self-discipline, moral integrity, and impeccability—and explains how modern society has eroded them. With deep stories from Navy SEAL culture and his own life, he emphasizes the importance of self-evaluation, modeling greatness, and rejecting the easy road.  Ernest Emerson is the inventor of the tactical folding knife, a martial arts Hall of Famer, and founder of Emerson Knives. His blades have been featured in films, books, and the hands of warriors. Off the battlefield, he's a philosopher of action who's trained elite military units and taught thousands to embrace the fight for personal excellence.  Learn more & connect:  Ernest Emerson has written several books, inlcuding: Knowledge Destroys Fear: The True Path To Self Mastery. As professionals, we inevitably face contentious subjects across the field. Today I am sharing a recent example of disagreement met with collaboration. In this case, an SLP determined that a Gestalt Language Processor (GLP) was not yet in the Natural Language Acquisition stage to answer questions. Meanwhile, the BCBA set a goal for the learner to respond to Personal Safety Questions. The team ultimately collaborated to prioritize safety-related questions as a goal important for this specific learner. This case highlights an essential responsibility: ethical collaboration to support the best possible outcomes for our learners.I also encourage you to check out the Systematic Review on Gestalt Language Processing published in December 2024. The review summary concluded that there is currently insufficient empirical evidence to support GLP as an effective intervention. As providers, it's our duty to evaluate emerging practices while ensuring our approaches remain evidence-based.At ABA Speech, our mission is to equip professionals with the tools they need to help autistic learners communicate with the world. Dear friend and broadcasting icon Marilyn Denis joins the show this week! She shares her journey through broadcasting, family life, and the evolution of media. She reflects on the joys of Christmas with her family, the challenges of building a home, and the sacrifices she has made throughout her career. The discussion also touches on the impact of social media on broadcasting, the challenges posed by AI and technology, and the impact of scams on public figures. The conversation also touches on celebrity encounters and the balance between privacy and public life. More about Marilyn Denis: In 2023, Marilyn announced she would bid adieu as host of the popular Canadian Screen Award-winning series THE MARILYN DENIS SHOW, following 13 incredible seasons and a 34-year career of daily daytime television. Formerly co-host of Roger & Marilyn, the veteran radio broadcaster now hosts Marilyn Denis and Jamar, weekday mornings on Toronto's #1-ranked radio station CHUM 104.5. A definite trailblazer, Edmonton-born Marilyn became the first female DJ at KRPL in Moscow, Idaho. She then moved to Calgary where she held various radio and television positions including programmer, music director, and traffic reporter. But it wasn't until she auditioned to become Roger Ashby's co-host, that Marilyn found her niche. After interviewing dozens of broadcasters and actresses, Marilyn breezed into CHUM FM in July 1986. After chatting with her for a few brief minutes, Roger immediately remarked, “I think we've found the right one.” Marilyn has always balanced her dynamic radio career with her candid television presence. She first began her career in television by reporting on sports, weather, and entertainment at CFCN-TV (CTV Calgary) and working as a freelance reporter for TSN. Marilyn also shared hosting duties on Bravo!'s Gemini Award-winning concert series LIVE AT THE REHEARSAL HALL and was host of the popular daily show CITYLINE for nearly 20 years.  A triple Gemini Award-winner (including back-to-back Viewers Choice Awards), Marilyn received The Rosalie Award, honouring Canadian women who have paved the way for others in radio broadcasting in 2006. Marilyn is the recipient of the Allan Waters Broadcast Lifetime Achievement Award, which was awarded at the 2017 Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards;_ _listed as one of Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 by WXN_;_ _selected as the University of Idaho's (where Marilyn studied broadcasting) 2017 Commencement Speaker and Honorary Degree recipient. Twenty-five years ago, Kristi was brutally attacked in an ordeal that forever changed her perspective on personal safety. This week, she bravely revisits that horrifying night, when a man feigned familiarity to gain her trust, only to launch a violent assault while she was driving through what she believed to be a safe neighborhood. He left her for dead, and fled before police arrived. He then went on to attack two more women before he was caught, seven months later. Kristi says the ordeal, which is still vivid today, inspired her to launch the hugely successful K9s4COPS, a non-profit which places trained dogs with law enforcement agencies and in schools across the United States.  In this episode we learn about the incredible work K9s4COPS is doing every day, and how we can support it.  https://www.K9s4COPS.org STORIES00:00 - Start00:11 - Trigger Warning00:19 - Kristi's story00:43 - 24/25  years ago, a man approaches my car 01:43 - He walks away.
