We all know how much the world relied on virtual technology over this past year due to the pandemic. Teachers, students and even businesses had to rely on virtual technology more than ever. Many businesses were already using some sort of virtual technology and others jumped on the technology bandwagon quickly. Whether you were already using this virtual technology, or you just decided to start using it, you more than likely found that it helps you and your business save time and money. Today I am going to talk about ways you can manage virtual or paperless business documents so that your business can operate smoothly and eliminate the burden of piles and piles of paperwork cluttering up your office. You may even be wondering how you can share this information virtually with your bookkeeper or accountant if you are working closely with them on your business finances. Most accountants and bookkeepers have a system set up for situations like this, but if you find your accountant or bookkeeper is a little behind in the times, you can offer up these ideas to help them work more efficiently with you. If you are a bookkeeper yourself and you help small businesses with their bookkeeping, you will want to make sure you are up to date with these processes as well so that you are making a positive impact on your clients. Whether you are just getting ready to start your small business, you're a solopreneur, entrepreneur, small business owner, virtual online bookkeeper or virtual assistant staying up to date on these virtual and paperless processes will help you save time and money in the long run. And, speaking of virtual technology, I will also be talking about an upcoming virtual event called Money, Faith, and Business that Jennifer Allwood and over 35 other speakers are holding. Many of my favorite top female business leaders are gathering to help business owners like you overcome money mindset issues and get solid business strategies. You'll hear from leading female entrepreneurs like Jordan Lee Dooley, Christy Wright, Jaime Cross, Julie Stoin, Angelica Duncan, Sandi Krakowski and many more. One of the many challenges to starting a business is access to finances. As we know, nothing is ever free, and usually the best training and coaches are not cheap. So what do we do in these times? Yes we can buy their books and watch you tube videos, but could there be another way? Shawn Q says that we can have access to anything or anyone if we just ask God to give us wisdom and teach us how to be resourceful in these trying times. In this episode he shares his journey to overcoming a toxic relationship with money and rejection, going from the back of the room to backstage with the best of the best, the importance of having "conversation", and how to build a business with a purpose. Shawn Qiuntero helps extraordinary clients create world-class businesses through high-ticket sales. He is an author, keynote speaker, high-performance coach and the creator of Clients With Purpose, one of the top sales programs for coaches, consultants and service providers in the industry, as well as the creator of the One Client Away challenge, a 5-day challenge to help you land your next (or first) high-paying client in just 5 days. What started with a simple “I can 't afford to attend your business conference, but I can help move chairs…” email turned into an incredible journey where ShawnQ has had the opportunity to work with Ryan Deiss, Michael Stelzner, Rachel Pedersen, Jaime Cross, and a host of other widly successful believers. ShawnQ started The Legacy Tribe in 2017. After serving as a marketing director for a mega church in Southern California, he eventually branched out and started building the “tribe” not only as a premium sales training organization, but also as a movement for high-achieving entrepreneurs who want to change the world. He loves talking about entrepreneurship, his faith, and everything Star Wars. Who doesn't love a good story? As humans, we've relied on storytelling for entertainment, education, and preservation of culture since the beginning of time. Storytelling is also for marketers. During my first sales job at a local radio station my boss sagely advised me that “facts tell, but stories sell.” I've never forgotten that lesson. In this episode, I chat with the charming Jaime Cross the founder of MIG Soap. From her kitchen table to now a multi-million dollar eCommerce business Jaime has grown largely based on great products and solid storytelling. Here's a taste of what we cover: What's the psychology behind storytelling? How good storytelling can increase the perceived value of a product by 2x or more. Common storytelling mistakes to avoid. The process MIG uses to get their overall story right…and then to get the story right for each product. How to turn customer testimonials into stories How do you deliver your story across email, product detail pages, and more. Storytelling resources
On this very special, two part episode Russell asks his inner circle to weigh in on the biggest marketing secrets they have learned over the past decade. You will hear from the following people on part one: Peng Joon Andrew Argue Rachel Pedersen Joshua Latimer Pedro Adao Jayme Amos Jaime Cross Annie Grace Alison J Prince Ryan Lee Stacey Martino Bart Miller Julie Stoian So listen here to get this amazing, valuable marketing advice from some of the top marketers out there right now. ---Transcript--- Hey, what’s up everybody? This is Russell Brunson, welcome back to the Marketing Secrets podcast. Alright, I’ve got a special treat for you guys over the next two episodes. So the new year started and New Year’s Day I was sitting, we had my family up at the penthouse and we were just hanging out and relaxing and you know, I relax for about 30 seconds, then my brain starts thinking, what’s the next, what’s the plans for this year, what are we going to do? And I started thinking, you know, we know this was the end of a decade, and a new decade is starting. And I just started thinking about over the last 10 years, what are the biggest takeaways, what are the biggest aha’s and things like that, that I’ve had in my business? And then all the sudden this idea hit me, look, I know the things that, the big aha’s that I’ve had. And I’ve been, I talk about them on the podcast all the time. But I was like, I’ve got this amazing inner circle group of entrepreneurs who have been working with me for the last 5 or 6 years. Each of them paid, in the beginning it was $25,000 a year, towards the end it was $50,000 a year to be part of the program. And we had 100 entrepreneurs in it and I was like, you know these guys have been around me for a long time, they’ve been in the trenches, they’ve been doing this in their businesses. I thought how much fun it would be to hear what their biggest marketing secret was, their biggest takeaway that they got themselves over the last decade in their businesses. So I have a Voxer group that has all my inner circle members and I Voxed them and said, “Hey, just curious what’s your number one takeaway, what’s the biggest marketing secret that you’ve gotten over the last decade in your business that’s helped the most? If you guys could voxer back the responses to that, that’d be awesome.” And from that I got, I think almost 20 people sent back responses and they were amazing. So I thought how much fun to turn that into two episodes. So we’ve got two episodes for you guys that are going to be revealing the top marketing secrets from my inner circle members. And each one’s got a different thing. I told them to try to keep them under 3 minutes, some people were, had a lot of brevity and did it in less than a minute, others struggled and got in 3 to 4 minutes. But each one had a unique idea, a unique piece of gold for you. So I’m really excited for these next two episodes. And it’s interesting, as you listen to them, I’ve been teaching this stuff for the last decade and a half and there’s tons of things we teach and that we talk about and brainstorm about, mastermind about, and it’s interesting looking at each person, even though all of them have built huge 7 and 8 figure businesses, each of them had a different thing that was the big marketing secret, the thing that knocked down the big domino for them. And you’ll see some things amongst the inner circle members, other people they’re completely different things. But as a whole it was fascinating just to see what they’re all, what each of their biggest takeaways were. So what I’m going to do is this episode and the next episode we’re just going to play through those, each one is 3 to 5 minutes long, giving their marketing secret. Most of them followed the instructions and said their name and their website url, so we would have those. Some of them didn’t, so the people who didn’t state their names, I’ll jump in ahead of time and let you know who they are, and then we’ll plug in their thing. So with that said, I’m going to queue up the theme song and when we come back, we will start with the first marketing secret from my inner circle members. Peng Joon: This is Peng Joon and my biggest marketing secret that I learned from the last decade is that every given moment in time, we are building 5 different assets. And in marketing the first asset that we will ever build is the social asset. This is basically the stuff that will sit on social media forever. Many times when people don’t have the clarity as to why they’re creating that technical video on YouTube, why they are doing that Facebook re-targeting ad, why they’re documenting what it is that they’re doing. The reason for that is because they don’t know that this is step number one, they’re creating this social asset that can be fed into step number two, which is the digital asset. This is where you build the funnel, you build up the sales process, you build up something that will live on forever, in order to sell the course, the book, the consulting. And the question you gotta ask yourself is, “How can you take what you’re already doing in your life, the presentations, the life event, the consulting, the coaching sessions, how can you document them so that it can be turned into the digital asset that will work for you forever?” So for example, the keynote that I did at Funnel Hacking Live, I did that presentation once, but I turned that into a book, into a recurring that lives on, and is going to live on for a really long time to come. And the whole purpose of that, number two is to then move onto number three in order to create a proprietary asset. This is basically the infrastructure, the tribe, the community, if you think about what makes Apple Apple, if Samsung came up with something that was 3x better, with more features, half the price, chances are I’m not going to shift. Why? Because I’m locked in. I’m locked in and I’m thinking about the inconvenience. I’m thinking about the iTunes, I’m thinking about all of my files backed up in the cloud. Same thing for Clickfunnels. Even if there were 200 different competitors, even if somebody came up with better features or lower pricing, I’m not going to switch. Why? Because of the tribe, because of the community, because of the good will Russell, you have given to me in the last decade. That’s what locks people in, and it’s something that I’m thinking about all the time. And that brings us to number four. Number four is creating of systems assets. This is the SOP’s, the Trello boards. This is why I document what I’m doing on YouTube, Instagram, the steps on social media. Why? Because I’m constantly working on removing myself from the business so that I can work on the business and not in the business. And finally, that is all pushed to number 5, the capital asset. Understanding that ultimately why I’m building all these things is to build up capital. This could be office space, this could be property, things that generate positive cash flow, which then can be used back to step number 1, which is to fill social asset. And when you have this big picture, as to understanding why it is that you do what it is that you do, you’ll be able to have the big picture and have clarity on every, what you work on every single day. Andrew Argue: Hey it’s Andrew Argue from Accountingtax.com and I wanted to share my biggest marketing secret that I learned in the decade. And you know, I was kind of struggling coming up with this because I actually learned pretty much everything I know about marketing in the last decade, because I’m not really a marketer, I’m an accountant by trade. But when I think about the biggest thing I learned, that made the biggest difference, you know, a lot of times when people are doing marketing, they’re doing something that looks good, or something that feels good and they’re putting it out there, and it’s like a brochure maybe, or maybe like a Facebook ad, and they don’t really know exactly what the return on it is. So myself being an accountant, when I first started doing marketing I really had no idea what I was doing until I finally started actually calculating out what specifically what I was getting for what I was doing. So I would look, “Okay, what is my cost per click?” so what was the cost per click for somebody to come to my website? And I would know that number. And I started looking, “Well some of these people are coming to the landing page and then they’re opting in, what percentage of those people are opting in? That’s my landing page conversion rate.” So I would look at my cost per click. Let’s say my cost per click was $4, and then let’s say that only 10% of people were opting in, so that means my cost per lead was $40. Then I’d say, “Okay I spent x amount of dollars on Facebook or Google or something…” and I was getting leads for $40. Okay well then, where were those leads going, they were going next stage to book an appointment. And what’s my cost per appointment? Only 10% of people that became a lead booked an appointment. So that means $400 was my cost per appointment. And then how many people would I close? And I think until I really put those kind of metrics, the cost per click, landing page conversion rate, cost per lead, conversion from opt in to appointment, and the cost per sale, until I really put those metrics on it, I just never really felt confident in doing more marketing or spending more money, because I just didn’t really know what I was getting. So I mean, I learned so many things on the art and how it all works. I mean, obviously Russell’s done a tremendous job teaching me a bunch of different things about marketing, hook, story, offer, a ton of different things. But I really never felt comfortable to pull the trigger, and now we probably spent 6-7 million dollars on advertising over the last few years alone. So that’s probably the biggest thing I learned in the decade, hope that’s helpful. Rachel Pedersen: I’m Rachel Pedersen, the founder of the Viral Touch digital marketing agency and Social Media United, the leading online training for social media managers. Now I haven’t been in entrepreneurship for a decade yet, but over the last decade I definitely learned a lot about social media and attention spans. We’re in a time where technically speaking, attention spans are at an all time low. Or at least, that’s what we’re being told. The interesting thing that most people don’t realize, sorry you’re going to hear my son in the background, welcome to mom and entrepreneur life balance. So what I’ve discovered is that if you can grab someone’s attention within in the first 10 to 15 seconds, you have them. So many of us spend time watching TV shows or movies, you know Netflix binging for lack of better words, but how is that we decide what we’re going to Netflix binge? Well the chances are it happened because of a trailer. We stop, we look at the thumbnail, we give it about 10 to 15 seconds to decide if it’s worthy of more of our time. The most important thing that you can learn to do for your business, especially in this time where people are becoming increasingly discerning about what they’re going to allow their time to be spent on, is to truly know your message, really, really, really get it. Can you make your point clear in 10 seconds? Can you explain your business in the 15 second video or conversation? For me, jumping onto tiktok was such a great lesson and truly a test of if I understood how to grab attention in 15 seconds or less. And for me it’s a daily practice reminding me how to capture attention and ultimately harness a following that says, “Not only did we like that 15 seconds, but we want more. We want to binge watch all of your content.” So now is the time to truly understand how to capture attention. We are after all in the attention economy, and those who grab it in the first 10 to 15 seconds will be the ones that ultimately are binged over the next decade. That’s definitely what I’ve learned over the last 10 years of being on social media. Joshua Latimer: Hey what’s up? Joshua and Ashley Latimer from honorandfire.com. The biggest marketing secret I’ve learned in the last 15 years is really easy for me, and it’s relationship marketing. It’s looking at your business like a marriage instead of just a wedding, which is a weird analogy. But people are super, super short term minded with their business, and in today’s climate with the internet, people want to get a Two Comma Club award, or make a million dollars as fast as possible. And desiring that is not wrong, but from a sustainability standpoint, what I’ve found is that when you solve real problems by providing real quality solutions and services, it’s really, really hard to fail a business. But it takes a little bit longer when you play the long game. So that goes for your relationship with your employees, your relationships with your dream 100, relationship with your business partners. My biggest marketing secret has been to slow down, try to have massive integrity, so real problems, and play the long game rather than just getting the ad that converts or getting that offer to do awesome in that one launch, it’s really, really hard to fail when you focus on the marriage, and not just the wedding. And in business I see a lot of people really excited to launch something or to get their funnel done, and they need to spend more time on making sure that they’re solving a real problem with a quality solution, whether it’s a product or a service, because at the end of the day, money is a natural byproduct of solving real problems. And if you slow down and listen to Tony Robbins, Tony always says people overestimate what they can do in a year, and underestimate what they can do in a decade. If you can be one of the people that realizes that, I think it will help you. And Russell, you’ve helped me. And hopefully that adds value to listeners of your podcast. Pedro Adao: Hey Russell, this is Pedro Adao, I’m in the inner circle. Man, so many but the one I think that I have probably leaned into the most, and has really I think, helped me kind of blow up on movement, is just really going deep into the niche. Going deep into your client avatar and really leaving that red ocean and finding an underserved, or unmet needs, carving a niche so tight that only you can fit in. That’s kind of a phrase that I’m now saying a lot these days. So that’s the big thing, that’s been a game changer for me. It’s allowed me to find my place of uniqueness and really not feel like I’m actually competing at all with anybody, because I’m really serving this really micro audience. That’s been a game changer. And then tactic is challenges. Man, I saw, it was at FHL last year I saw Natasha teach on challenges and I took the free masterclass concept I learned from you in Expert Secrets, I was doing free masterclasses and doing well with those, and then heard about paid challenges, and we’ve been doing pretty much a paid challenge every single month since then and I just recently used a paid challenge to actually win a major launch for Pete Vargas, came in first place ahead of some pretty serious guys. So I have a great testimony around challenges, I’m happy to share as well. So that’s, those are my two big keys, which is carve your niche, find a great market that’s underserved, and then show up and deliver value and prove your work through challenges. Take all the risk upfront before you ask them to buy. Hope that helps, bro. Take care. Jayme Amos: My name is Jayme Amos, CEO of Ideal Practices, we’re the country’s largest startup dental consulting firm. In other words we help dentists open startup dental practices. The number one marketing secret for me over the last decade, that I thought I understood, was being able to serve a niche. So to trick myself into understanding this better in the last decade, and the way that this has made the biggest impact in myself and in my consulting company and in the industry where I serve, is to describe it as a niche of a niche of a niche. Now here’s what I mean, you’ve probably heard me say that I help startup dentists. Well, I help dentist, I do, but only younger dentists. Usually doctors who are working for someone else, and only even in that subset, startup dentists. They can buy a practice, they can partner with a practice, but we only help startup dentists. So what does this mean for you? Well, a niche of a niche, of a niche, well here are the benefits that it’s helped me be able to achieve. I’m able to now speak so clearly to the people that I’m trying to serve best. So I can make the greatest impact with those specific people. But not only am I able to speak to them clearly, I’m also able to understand their pain points. And not just the pain points of dentist, not just the pain points of young dentists, or associates who are working for other dentists, but just those young dentists who desire to open startup practices. This allows us to serve them really well. But one of the aha moments that I’ve had, that I think Russell even taught me back when I was first an inner circle member, I don’t know, 3 years ago or something. He told me this, I thought I understood it, and it’s taken me even more time to fully understand this niche of a niche of a niche concept, and it’s this. When I’m able to understand them best, when I’m able to niche down best, I also am forced to find where they are. Now that sounds easy on the service, but when I’m forced to find where those people are, I’m also forced to find the places that nobody else knows about, where I can have the greatest impact. And guess what? There are fewer competitors there. And I don’t even mean just in my case, a startup dental consulting forms there’s competitors, I mean the competition of noise. I mean the competition of advertising dollars. So think of noise, whether it’s a newspaper ad, or a magazine ad, or a Facebook ad, there’s other noise for people’s attention that aren’t even direct competitors, but it’s competition for noise. And when I find the place where those people hangout, there aren’t many other people there. So I’m able to be one of the loudest voices in one of the smallest pockets in this niche of a niche of a niche. So my encouragement to you, one of the biggest aha marketing moments that I’ve had through Russell Brunson, through Clickfunnels, through my time as an inner circle member is this. Find your niche, but trick yourself and remind yourself that you can be even more powerful with a niche of a niche of a niche because you’ll be able to speak to them best. Serve them best and find those pockets of opportunity where you can have the greatest impact at the lowest cost. So I hope this serves you well. My name is Jayme Amos, CEO of Ideal Practices, number one consulting firm for startup dental practices in the country, and so much of this is the direct result of Clickfunnels, of Russell Brunson’s guidance, and being an inner circle member. Hope this is helpful to you as you grow how you impact others. Take care, bye, bye. Jaime Cross: So this is Jaime Cross with Migsoap.com and the greatest marketing discovery I’ve made in the last 10 years and have used in our business is story selling. It is, story is transcendent and Philip Tollman said that after nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing that we need most in the world. So there’s also a really great story about a journalist who purchased 200 items on ebay for $129 and he wanted to do an experiment, and he turned around and sold those same items for $8000 including story. So our fortune has been found in our follow up with story and then we incorporate into our description. So as an ecommerce company we have been able to maximize profits by leveraging story. You know, even with our pounce product, it’s kind of funny because I wrote like a mini romance novel. So I’m not just talking about the product, I’m actually making this story that every woman wants to be in come alive on our website. So we’ve done that with all our products and I’ve got a lot of really great ideas about story. You know, there’s an art and science to it as well. So it’s a great way, because there’s a psychological and chemical reaction in the brain when you hear and tell stories, it connects you to your audience, so it’s a really great way to build strong relationships and strong bonds with your followers and with your tribe. So I love story selling and I’ve got some really examples here too, but your brain on stories is like on fire compared to just listening to you know, features and benefits in the typical old way or traditional way of describing products. Annie Grace: Hey, this is Annie Grace from This Naked Mind, and my top marketing secret of the decade is probably the simplest one, but it’s so incredibly effective. And it’s really all about consistency. So I actually started a podcast right around the same time that people in the UK, a group that was doing basically the same thing I was doing started a podcast. And they came out of the gate like, over the top with guests. They had Gretchen Rubin, they had John Lee Dumas, they had Ryan Holladay, they had Hal Elrod, they had all these crazy guests and they got all these downloads and all this press around their podcast, and it was incredible and I was like, “Oh my gosh, they’re just smashing it. It’s amazing.” And then over the year I just kept going, my podcast was just the people who read my book. And I’d publish every Friday and every Saturday, but I never ever missed a day. And over the years these guys started missing a few here and there, and then they took a break, and then they came back, and then they took another break. And if you fast forward 2 years now, my podcast has 3.5 million downloads, and they’re nowhere close. So the consistency of just showing up every single week. I’ve now done a newsletter every single week for over 400 weeks. And the consistency of just showing up weekly and just doing what you say you’re going to do really pays off in the long run. It reminds me of the tortoise and the hair. So that’s my best marketing secret. It’s not really a secret. But just do what you say you’re going to do, if you’re going to do a weekly podcast or twice weekly podcast, make it happen, make the commitment, make it work into your life. Same with a newsletter, same with your emails, don’t pop up and then drop off again, because there’s no faster way to lose trust. Alison J Prince: Hey Russell and the Marketing Secrets podcast listeners, Alison J Prince her from Alisonjprince.com. I went from a junior high teacher to building 4 multimillion dollar businesses with 4 kids at my feet, but found my greatest success was watching my 10 and 13 year olds gain confidence in themselves as they went on to sell their first 6 figures before they even stepped into a high school. I am the host of the Because I Can live podcast where I show you what it takes to set up and automate your own online store using the steps I currently use today, and what I taught my girls. Why? Because I can. The marketing secret that I have been using for a decade and I still use today because it works, and it will work for as long as marketing exists, is teaming up with influencers to help explode your business. Yes, you can start growing your own following, but that can take years. So why not leverage what can accelerate your speed? Now I’m not talking about the get rich quick stuff that’s out there, that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about getting your products in front of an already warm audience, and not crossing your fingers and hoping that cold Facebook ads work. Imagine Taylor Swift talking about earrings she’s wearing on an Instagram story with a simple swipe up for her followers to go and buy. Do you think they would sell? Yeah! Don’t stress in getting Taylor’s attention, that’s not what’s needed. There are a ton of influencers out there who can rock the sales, and they have less than 100,000 followers. And some have even had 2000 followers and they have been known to move sales number mountains. So whatever you are selling there is an influencer who is looking to team up with a business like yours. Influencers have been building an audience for years, so it becomes a 3 way win. Win for you because you make sales, win for the influencer because they make a percentage of the sales, and a win for their followers because they get your really cool, amazing product into their hands. Creating this 3 win-win has been one of my marketing secrets to building online profitable businesses. I hope that helps you crack the marketing code going into 2020. Oh, and one more thing, if you’re sending all that traffic over, make sure you’ve got a Clickfunnels set up so that you can maximize the order cart value. Ryan Lee: Hey this is Ryan Lee from Cashflowtactics.com and wanted to share with you the biggest marketing secret that I learned from Russell Brunson. So over the last decade as I’ve been in the inner circle and studying the art and science of marketing, one of the biggest things, one of the biggest epiphanies that I’ve had is building a business around a future based cause. You know Russell taught us for years all of the presidents maybe forever, the one’s that won {inaudible} on a future based cause instead of an improvement offer. And for too long inside of our business we were focused on features and improvement offers, but as soon as we took everything down and focused on the outcome that our product and our service created for our clients, that’s when things took off for us. So having a future based cause, and the easiest way to implement that for us was really diving deep and figuring out the core desire of our ideal avatar, our ideal client. Once we understood their pain points and their desired outcome, we could focus our message on speaking to both that pain and then the future based outcome for our clients. So for us at Cash Flow Tactics, we built our business around empowering people with money to become financially free in 10 years or less, and our tagline that’s really driven massive amounts of business has been “Rise up, Live free.” So something very simple but it speaks to our ideal avatar in the sense that they want control. It’s a future based cause to rise up, choosing differently from where they’re at today, so that they can live free. And all of our marketing is based around that, both from the possibility as well as speaking to the pain. So good luck in 2020 future based cause is where the gold is at. Stacey Martino: Alright hey there everyone on Marketing Secrets podcast. I’m Stacey Martino, my husband Paul and I are the founders of relationshipdevelopment.org , and I’m happy to come in and share one of our biggest marketing secret strategy that we’ve learned in the last few years, and that comes down to something that Russell shared with us probably the first or second time that we ever met him within inner circle. Like many of you, Paul and I were stuck in that place of look we have this amazing solution, we know we want to make as many people know about this as possible. Everyone deserves to know about the solution that we have, ours is for relationship, yours is for whatever it is that you do, and I’m sure you’ve had that feeling at one point or another, “I want everybody to know about this. This s so good.” So Russell said, of course to us, “Hey, you’ve got to do a podcast.” Because love to listen to podcasts. Hence, we’re all listening to marketing secrets podcast. And what I did in that moment was, “Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s a great idea. Let me put that on my list, I don’t have time to implement that right now.” And I want you to learn from my mistake and catch yourself, because we all do this. “Oh my gosh, that’s such a great idea. I don’t have the bandwidth for that.” “Oh my gosh, that’s such a great idea. I don’t have time for that.” You have to catch yourself because one of the biggest strategies you could ever take away from this is you won’t get results from something you don’t implement. We have to implement, it doesn’t matter how many great strategies or ideas we have, we have to actually take action and get it done. So fast forward some time, we actually did make the Relationship Transformers podcast last year, it’s been catching like fire, it’s everywhere, it’s spreading, it’s doing everything we wanted it to do and more. And there’s two podcast strategies that have worked for our podcast that I really want to share with you. One Steve Larsen taught to us, which is to take your 3 Secrets Webinar and turn it on it’s side, and the first 4 or 5 episodes of your podcast is you doing like 20 or 30 minute chunks of your 3 secrets webinar to take them through your pillar content. Who you are, what you’re about, why is this different, what are the three secrets? So we did that, and it has been amazing. And then at the end of eveyr single podcast we share three action items like, “What can you do now to get great results now?” and a call to action. These are three things you can do to start getting results today, and your next step is join our 14 day boost program for your relationship. Whatever the first step is on your value ladder to help them take action. Because not only do you not get results from things you don’t implement, but the people who are listening to you won’t get results from things if they don’t implement. And yes, the podcast is amazing and we want to educate, and we want to inform, but if we don’t help them take that first step and take action, we’re not really serving them. So those are my strategies, I hope you implement them and make this an amazing year. Russell: Alright, the next person who sent a message was Bart Miller and Bart is a man of many talents. He’s the guy who dresses me for Funnel Hakcing Live, but on top of that he runs a huge ecommerce brand, he runs info product brands and a whole bunch of other amazing things. So with that said, here’s Bart’s biggest marketing secret from the last decade. Bart Miller: The number one marketing strategy for us this year has been using a warranty card that goes into every Amazon box that we send into Amazon, and having people come back and fill that out and getting their email and capturing their stuff, and then putting on that thank you page for filling that out, a order bump for products that they can sell right then and there after they, I don’t know if it’s a bump or an actual sale, but we just take them right to it. Conversions are halving on two different things. One they are obviously coming onto an email list off of Amazon for capturing them, which is awesome. So we’re building a really cool camping list. And the second is that we’re actually selling them something else and the take rate on that right now is about 35%, are taking the next offer, which is a continuity program in the cooking space. So anyway, really cool, but that’s worked really well for us this year, and converted really well for us. Russell: Hey this next one is from Julie Stoian. Julie is no stranger in the funnel hacker, or marketing secrets community. She was a key player here at Clickfunnels for a long time, and I think you’re going to love the marketing secret that she shared next. Julie Stoian: Hey, so I’m going to answer this for you. I think probably the thing that I learned the most or that stuck out to me the most over the last decade is I’ve learned all the mechanics of marketing and I’ve learned the different fields offer, creation, copy, design, but the art of the hook is really something that I learned a ton from you, Russell, and all the stuff you teach, and this idea of pattern interrupt and no matter how great you are, how great your offer is, if you cannot get people to pay attention and get curious, you’re not going to get people into your funnel. So over the past couple of years especially, I’ve started to see, now that I see it I can instantly recognize when someone is marketing without a hook, without a reason or a story or a pattern interrupt. And I looked back over a lot of my writing and all of the emails and sales pages that were the best, I realized had this really curious hook or this crazy story attached to it. So even though I had been doing it unknowingly, once I figured out that that was the key, I started infusing it into everything. Into my emails, my sales pages, my ads, even my social media posts, and this made just a tremendous difference.

My guest is entrepreneur Jaime Cross. Two years after leaving her career in banking to be home with her newborn son, Jaime had this longing, I'd even call it a calling, to build a business that would be driven by purpose and that would have worldwide impact. Now, I'm betting that felt like a pretty audacious goal since she was at home, elbows deep in all the glorious messiness of raising kiddos and full-time parenting, but she was bold and she prayed. More specifically, Jaime asked God for a billion-dollar idea. Yeah, that's with a B, a billion-dollar idea, which is pretty big. I mean, right? Listen To The Podcast: RESOURCES: INSTAGRAM: @thehereffect @migsoap TWITTER: @migsoap WEBSITE: MIG Soap: https://migsoap.com/ TRANSCRIPT: Mitch Matthews: Well, a few days later, Jaime got hit with a business plan in her sleep. Literally, the idea hit her in a dream. I love this because I've done over 200 episodes of DREAM. THINK. DO., and I think this is our first person who got hit with a dream in a dream. I love that. Then Jaime embarked on her entrepreneurial journey the very next day and instantly became a millionaire. No, I'm just kidding. It wasn't that easy. It wasn't that simple. But she went after the dream right away. She went to work. Mitch Matthews: After eight long years of trial and error, a lot of mistakes and tears, her company now is one of the fastest-growing organic skincare companies in the world. They're selling millions of dollars of product. It's called MIG. Its tagline is seed to skin, skin to soul. That's what Jaime is all about. It's an amazing story. I heard it and I thought, oh my gosh, I got to have her on. So I'm so excited to do this. Jaime Cross, Welcome to DREAM. THINK. DO. Jaime Cross: Thank you. It's so great to be here. Mitch Matthews: Absolutely. Absolutely. I love, love, love your story. We got to meet at the conference. Pedro Adao, who was also a recent guest on DREAM. THINK. DO, introduced us and we got to meet at his conference in Texas a few months ago now, but I was like, oh my gosh, your story's awesome. Jaime Cross: Thanks, Mitch. Mitch Matthews: I love it. So you're in Colorado Springs. You and your husband have four boys. When this story started, you just had one. Now you've got four boys. Let's go back. We're going to time jump a little bit, and I want to hear about life now, but I think I want to hear about the genesis of this, and I mentioned it obviously in the intro a little bit. Let's talk about that. You had left a career in banking ... Jaime Cross: Mm-hmm (affirmative). Mitch Matthews: ... to be at home. Jaime Cross: Yes. Mitch Matthews: That's never an easy decision. Jaime Cross: No, I mean, I was making great money banking, doing the whole corporate thing. It took Nathan and I five years to get pregnant. When we finally found out that we were going to be parents, I just could not imagine not being home with them. Came home. It was about two years into full-time motherhood that I was starting to feel that pull and that stir. Actually, by then I had my second baby when I was starting to be like, okay, I know that I'm so satisfied as a mother, but something's stirring in me, and I know there's more. I think a lot of mothers feel guilty about wanting more, but I was just like, God, there's something inside of me and we were struggling to pay our bills. I'd given up this huge salary. Nathan was teaching, and teachers don't make very good money- Mitch Matthews: No. Jaime Cross: ... and so it really helped- Mitch Matthews: They should. They should make tons of money, but they don't. Absolutely. Jaime Cross: Yeah, we were a one-income family, trying to live debt-free. It was a struggle. At that moment when I cried out to God, it wasn't just because we weren't meeting our bills. It was because there was this thing inside of me just raging to come out like, I know, I'm supposed to build something.
I ADORE Jaime Cross. Jaime’s story is absolutely mind blowing (she prayed for God to give her a billion dollar idea that would heal the world… and He did!), but her heart is EVEN bigger. Jaime is the founder and CEO of MIG soap (Mighty in Good), which is an organic beauty and skin care company. Jaime loves Jesus and loves people, and her huge heart shines through everything that she says and does. In addition to bringing the best quality skincare products to the world, she is also passionate about helping women step into HER… the woman that God created her to be!
During a quiet and lonely night of seeking, she asked God for a billion dollar idea and soon after, saw a business plan in a dream. Jaime embarked on her entrepreneurial journey the next morning and after eight long years of trial and error.... and a lot of mistakes and tears... her multi seven figure company is one of the fastest growing organic skin care companies in the world. Jaime now stands at the forefront of business as a force for good, bridging her two empires, MIG and The HER Effect together to equip and surround women who are ready to rise. She is passionately paving the way for women to embody true beauty, pursue purpose, and embark on their own journey towards Becoming HER with profitability and a soul set on fire. P.S. As a mother of four boys, unschooling, married for 16 years… she empowers from a place of no compromise and powerful truth. We have one life, and it’s time to stop putting a question mark where there belongs a period.
Listen to part 2 of 4 of my keynote presentation from FHL. During this part of the presentation, I start diving deeper into how to create your irresistible offers. On today’s episode you will hear part 2 of 4 of Russell’s first presentation at Funnel Hacking Live 2019. Here are some of the super awesome things you will hear in this part: Hear Russell give ideas for a written offer, an audio offer, and a video offer, that are all super easy. Find out why it’s so important to not be a commodity and how you can avoid it. And see why Russell always has several things he can use to bulk up his offers. So listen here to hear the second part of Russell’s keynote presentation at this year’s Funnel Hacking Live. ---Transcript--- Hey everyone this is Russell. Welcome back to the Marketing Secrets podcast. I hope you enjoyed the first 25% of my keynote presentation at Funnel Hacking Live. During today’s episode I’m going to start diving deeper into actually how you create an offer. We talked about so far the fact that the offer increases the value, you have to have amazing offers because that’s how you decommoditize yourself and how you make people desire and lust and go crazy for the thing you’re trying to sell. So the next thing is like, “Okay, that’s cool Russell, but you know I’m selling physical products, and I’m doing this or whatever and I don’t know how to bulk up my offer.” And the easiest way to bulk up offers is with information products. So the next section of my presentation, I started going deeper into exactly how to create information products. I walk through nine different ways that I think you’re going to enjoy. We’re going to kind of go through nine different ways, and then do a couple of potential exercises and things like that, and then we’re going to move into story. So with that said, I’m queue up the theme song and jump into part two of my keynote presentation. So the question is, how do you do that? Some of you guys are like, “I sell this thing, how do I make it sexier? How do I make an offer?” So the fastest way to increase an offer is to bulk it up by adding other types of information products. So I’m going to go through a couple of ways you guys can create quick information products to bulk up any offer without actually having to write a book. Does that sound like fun? Alright cool. So I’m going through 3 different things you can do. Number one, there are written words, but I’m going to show you how to do that without actually writing any words. Number two is audio and number three is video. This will give you guys ideas so no one will be able to say, “I can’t create an offer, Russell.” With these things I’m going to show you, you can create millions and millions of offers. In fact, if you start looking at everything I do, you’ll notice there’s always one of these three things I’m using to bulk up my offers every single time. So the first are written things. So the first thing I want to show you guys is, how many of you guys would love to have a book but you don’t want to write a book? Books are the most painful part of anything I’ve ever done, ever. By far. So this is a book that was a crowd source book called chicken soup for the soul. How many of you guys have read Chicken Soup for the Soul? How many of you guys have read one of the 8 million versions since then? The most amazing thing about this book is that they authors who wrote this book didn’t actually write any of the words in the books. Isn’t that great? Yet, they still made millions and millions and millions and millions of dollars. The other day my son came into my little office, it was Bowen again, he came in and he saw this book and he said, “Dad, is that your new book?” and I said, “Yeah.” And he said, “You wrote another new book?” I was like, “Well, kind of.” And he’s like, “What do you mean kind of?” I’m like, ‘Well, I wrote the title and that was it.” He’s like, “Did you cheat?” I’m like, “No, I didn’t cheat. I have 30 people who’ve got Two Comma Club awards write how they would get a two comma club award if they could do it again.” He’s like, “And then they just wrote the chapter?” I said, “Yeah, then I put it in a book, then we sell the book.” And he’s like, “But you didn’t write anything.” I’m like, “I wrote the title. It’s a really good title.” And he’s like, “I don’t think that’s a real book dad.” I’m like, ‘No, it really is.” How many of you guys inside whatever business you’re in could find a whole bunch of experts in whatever it is, and you could write a book like this? This book alone, we did the very first launch of the one funnel away challenge where we gave this away, and we closed it down for like four months, people were auctioning these things off. Someone sold one for over $500 on eBay. People were going crazy for this book. Now when we’re launching one funnel away challenge again, we’re like, ‘you guys get this book.” And people flip out. People buy just because they want the book, and I didn’t write a word of it. So think about this, how could you guys like, Chicken Soup for the Soul trailblazed it for us, I trailblazed it for you, how could you guys do that same thing in your market? Find people around you and be like, “Let me interview you,” do 30 of you, or 20 of you, or 10 of you and put together and make a book. There’s a million things you could do with that, but it’s a fast, easy way to create a book but you don’t actually have to do it. Number two way to get written books really fast is to compile examples of stuff. How many of you guys have read my 108 Split Tests book? This is literally just screen shots of 108 of our split tests and people go crazy for it. How many of you guys are doing stuff in your business or whatever it is you do, where you have this byproduct? We weren’t planning on selling this, we were just doing split tests and it takes screen shots of the split tests and eventually two years later we’re like, we should just put these all in a book. We just compiled a whole bunch of examples and we sold it. This right here, how many of you guys are members of Funnel University? Every month we find a couple of funnels, we compile them, talk about them, and show them to people. Not my funnels, other people’s funnels. We just find the cool ones and we show them and put them in a newsletter. How many of you guys have seen this book, the 74 Funnel Swipe File? None of you guys have seen it yet. Another product coming out soon to a funnel near you. Same thing, we’re just compiling cool stuff. How many of you guys have seen cool stuff before? You should just compile it then, make a book, and then it’s amazing. More people have probably read this book than my other books that I spent years slaving on to write, and they’re like, ‘Oh, this is better.” One of my favorite ones, this is kind of a tricky one. How many of you guys have heard of the public domain before? This is where Walt Disney got all his ideas by the way, he never wrote anything. He just went to the public domain and he’s like, “Oh sweet, someone wrote a story about a beauty and a beast, or about a snow princess, or about all these things.’ He found public domain stories and produced movies out of it. Anything that was written pre-1923 in the United States is in the public domain and you can republish it as your own. One of my friends, Matt Furey, he took this old 1914 wrestling course, Farmer Burns, published the book and made over a million dollars selling that course. Have any of you guys read Think and Grow Rich? Master Key Systems? Tons of the books that you guys know and are aware of are all in the public domain, you can republish them. There are two places I go for public domain stuff. Number one I go to Gutenburg.org, everything on Gutenburg.org is on the public domain. They just publish, there’s like 50,000 ebooks there, you could find one in your market, you can take it and republish it as your own. The second secret, I go to eBay and eBay in the non-fiction book section, you can search by year, so I search by year and I start typing keywords in my market. And you will be amazed at how many amazing books that have been written that people are selling on eBay for $1.50, that you can then republish and sell for whatever you want. Bundle inside of your offer to quickly get amazing books. Okay, so there’s three fast ways to make books. Crowd source them, compile a bunch of examples, or go in the public domain. Okay now here’s a concept I need you guys to understand as we move from the first three to the next three and beyond. This will make this whole process simpler for you. The concept is this, people will spend more money for the exact same content packaged in a different way. I’ll say it again. People will spend more money for the exact same content packaged in a different way. When I first started this business, I remember going to events like this and the speaker, it seemed like every single time some speaker would say, “Who here has read Think and Grow Rich?” By the way, how many of you guys have read Think and Grow Rich? Which is in the public domain by the way, so you guys can all publish and make Think and Grow Rich for Dentists, Think and Grow Rich for Surfers, Think and Grow Rich for whatever, it’s ready for you. But anyway, I kept hearing that so I went and bought the book and I was like, I’m so excited to read the book, and I put it next to my bed stand and it sat there for months and months and then years. And every time I’d go to an event, they’d be like, “Who read Think and Grow Rich?” I’d raise my hand, well I haven’t actually read it. I have it, someday I’ll read it. And one day I remember feeling guilty and I went on eBay and I typed Think and Grow Rich Cd’s and someone was selling the CD course of it. So I bought the CDs, go it in my car and for the next 3 weeks, I started “reading” Think and Grow Rich in my car. What’s interesting about this, the book Think and Grow Rich cost me $9.97 on Amazon. The CDs cost me $97 on eBay. So I literally paid ten times more money for the exact same thing packaged in a different way. Was there any difference between the book and the audio? It was literally word for word. Some dude read the book and then it became CDs and I spent ten times as much. This is the lesson for you guys. How many of you guys read the Dotcom Secrets book? How many of you guys read the Expert Secrets book? Why are you here then? Everything I know is in those books. I got nothing else. Oh, because it’s packaged a different way. Does that make sense? I want you guys all to understand that what you have you can package in so many different ways, and because of the experience, how it’s being fulfilled, all those things, it shifts the value of it. This is way more valuable than a $10 book, this experience being here. So I’m going to shift over to audio now. This is a book that we republished, this is in the public domain, it’s called the Life Work of Farmer Burns. I had my father in law get a microphone out, he read it, we turned it into a CD and started selling, this is ten years ago, started selling this book on CD. So you can find a book, you can read it, you can have somebody else read it, find the book in public domain, find something like that, and make an audio book. A very simple, easy way to do it. Number two is you can interview others. So this is a book, how many of you guys have read this book, by the way? I know all our Two Comma Club X members, I sent you guys a copy of it. Everyone’s like, “This thing is bigger than the phone book.” It’s one of the best books ever. I remember when it first came out, David Frey, where’s David at? So David got it and he’s like, ‘This book’s amazing.” And he called up Vince James’ is the author, and he interviewed him for a whole bunch of stuff, and he made a whole audio course out of it, and Dave’s a genius, so I should just do what Dave did. So then I called him up and I said, “Hey can I interview you too?” and he’s like, “Sure.” So I interviewed the guy who wrote this book. The guy made, he was a 20 year old kid and made a hundred million dollars through direct mail selling supplements. So I called him on the phone and I interviewed him and he let me interview him for six hours. When it was done he was like, “You can have the rights to the audios, I have the rights too. We can do whatever we want with them.” I’m like, “Sweet.” So then like 2 years later I launched it and this actually became my very first ever Two Comma Club Funnel. I made a million dollars selling interviews of the interview I did with this guy who wrote the book. Is that amazing? So how many of you guys have ever read a book before? How many of you guys could call the author and be like, “Hey can I interview you?” And if someone’s like, “He’s too famous, he wrote all these big books. He’s never going to interview me.” I’m going to tell you the life of an author, if you guys really want to know how it works. They geek out on a topic, they spend their whole life writing this book and they’re so proud of it and they’re so excited. And then they tell their spouse or their family and friends and they’re like, “Okay. That’s weird.” And they’re like, “Oh, nobody cares.” And then there’s an audience who gets the book and they love it and read it and they’re like, “My people did read it.” right. And then somebody calls and they’re like, “Hey, that book was amazing. Can I interview you?” The person is like, “Yes, you can.” Just so you know. They want you to talk to them. They want to share this stuff. It does not happen enough. If you went to Amazon and find the top ten authors of books in your market, I guarantee you 9 out of 10 will get you on the phone that fast. Or you can actually, I don’t know if Jason Fladlien is here this year, but Jason gave me an idea that was brilliant. He was doing an offer and this kind of ties back to the story we’ll talk about here in a minute, but he was doing an offer where he was selling a funnel course and he was like, “I want to interview someone who did ecommerce funnels. Well, Trey Lewellen has got the highest grossing ecommerce funnel right now inside of Clickfunnels, I want to interview Trey.” So he calls up Trey and he’s like, “Hey, can I interview you?” and they’re friends. And Trey’s like, “Sure man, you can interview me.” And Jason’s like, “Well, I need to wire you some money first.” And Trey’s like, “No, don’t worry about it. I’ll do the interview.” And he’s like, “No, no, I need to wire you the money because otherwise there’s no value in this interview. And Trey’s like, ‘What” so Trey’s like, “Whatever.” So Jason wires him like $5000 and he does the interview and then when you see when Jason is selling his product, he does the stack and goes through the stack, “Number one, number two, number three….” He’s like, “Number three right here, do you see this right here? This is the guy, he’s the number one ecommerce seller in Clickfunnels. He had a funnel that did $20 million dollars in six weeks selling flashlights and I wired him $5000 to interview because I wanted to find out, he does interviews but I wanted to find out the real stuff, so I paid him $5000 to interview him. And that interview you guys could have.” All the sudden that bullet point in this stack slide went from, “Oh it’s an interview.” to “that’s worth $5000 now.” The value instantly shoots up. So interviewing people is huge. In fact, when I launched the 10x Secrets course I had my offer and it was good and I was like, “How do I make this sexier?” so the first thing I did is I interviewed a bunch of people. I interviewed this man right here, where’s Myron at? Everyone loves Myron. Anyway, I interviewed Myron, I wrote a bunch of people who I learned how to close from stage from. I interviewed all of them, plugged that into the course, increased the value of the course. So interviewing people is huge, for any product. I don’t think there’s a product I put out that I don’t interview people. I do it even if it’s my product. I’m like, “Who are the 10 other people I can interview who have done something similar?” because all those things increase the value of what it is I’m selling. And then the last audio one is compiling hard to find podcasts, and audios and things like that. If I told you guys, I’m like, ‘Hey, my favorite podcast is Mixergy, you guys should go listen to it.” How much value is in that? Not much, right. But if I was like, “There’s this one interview that Andrew did and in the interview he started talking to the guy and he literally, the guy showed three different websites that were the key to ‘blah, blah, blah’ and I listened to those things and found the websites. I never knew they existed. I started doing the thing, and that’s how we got Clickfunnels to whatever.” If I tell you that, you’re like, “Oh my gosh, I want to hear that podcast.” I’m like, “Cool, when you sign up for my thing right now, I’m going to give you a link directly to that podcast so you can find it.” You curating stuff for people there’s value in that. YouTube videos, I’ve done it tons of times with opt ins where we’re like, “Opt in here to get a free video from Robert Kiyosaki teaching the number one tax strategy for middle aged Americans.” And I just found a video on YouTube of Robert Kiyosaki teaching the number one thing on whatever, and that’s what I give people when they opt in. So you curating stuff you think is cool, can be bundled into offers as well. Okay, so there’s the audio ones. Really quick, so audio books, interviewing other people and compiling hard to find audios is a big thing. The last one I’m going to go through really quickly is video. There is a program, how many of you guys here use Windows? How many of you guys use Macs? Holy cow. Okay, there’s a program. If you are using Windows you should be using Camtasia, if you’re using Mac, use Screen Flow. This tool has made me and probably most people more money than anything else on earth. It just records whatever is happening on your screen. So you make a presentation or slides, or literally the very first version of Funnel Hacks training, the one that got us from zero to ten thousand customers, I had a word document opened on the screen with my notes, on the right hand side, I had a little picture. I just clicked record on Screen Flow and I talked for an hour as I read through my outline. We did like $10 million plus dollars in sales, and that was what the product looked like. “But Russell, I have a professional video studio.” You don’t need one, just get a microphone, screen flow or camtasia, record your screen, have a presentation and just teach it. It’s super easy, it’s simple. It’s like the easiest thing in the world to do. Number two video thing, just get your iphone out. Literally you can just get your phone out and just make videos. Where is Rachel at? Is she in the room right now? We were on, did you finish the course, by the way? Can I talk about that? So Rachel, we were on this little cruise thing after the 10x event and she came up to me and she’s like, “I have an idea, it’s going to be a course called Selfie Secrets” Am I going to ruin this? “I’m going to record the whole thing on my iphone.” And then she the next day, recorded the entire course on her phone teaching the entire course, which is amazing. And it was all on her phone. Okay, so how many of you guys have a phone. You have everything you need. You guys should all buy her course when it goes live. And the last thing is you should throw a workshop, teaching people stuff. You don’t even have to speak, you can bring other speakers to teach for you. When I first got started, I didn’t have any product to sell. So the first thing I did, I threw a workshop. And it was really exciting to have a workshop, I was pumped about it, but I had nobody coming and so I emailed my tiny list at the time and said, “I’m doing a workshop, it’s $5000 a ticket.” And then the first day nobody bought, and the second day nobody bought. And the third day one guy bought. And at first I was like, “Yeah!’ and then I was like, “Oh crap, now I have to do a workshop and there’s only one person coming. This is awkward.” Then luckily 2 other people bought. So I had three people buy. I was like, “Okay, now we have a workshop with three people.” So I called everybody I knew, my friends, my family, everybody. I was like, “Okay, I’m doing a workshop, people paid to be here. You have to come and just sit in the audience and don’t tell them you didn’t pay, because I need this to look good on video or it’s going to be super embarrassing.” So we set it up, we had it all set, and it was like not like this, it was really bad. We literally had curtains, the windows behind me were too bright, so we got sheets from the bedrooms, and electrical taped sheets over the, it’s so bad. But we recorded and that became the very first course I ever sold, the videos from us at the holiday inn, with electrical tape over the sheets, literally behind me the entire video and it looked amazing. So throw a workshop, even if nobody comes to it, or just invite your friends. Do something at your house, bring people in, just record yourself teaching your thing, and you can bundle that really, really quickly. So for videos, we’ve got screen captures, iphones, and workshops. So here’s a quick recap of the nine ideas. Crowd sourcing books, compiling examples, public domain, audiobooks, interviewing, compile hard to find audios, screen captures, iphones, and workshops. Tons of easy ways to do that quickly. So what I want to do right now, is I want to actually, I’m trying to think if we should do this or not. I’m going to let you guys do this on your own, but in your paper that I handed out, I have this little section here for you guys to figure out, what are potential products I could bundle inside of my offer? This is something we do all the time. Every time we have a new product that comes out, I talked about this last year, we have bat meetings. We literally send out a bat signal to voxer to everyone on our marketing team, we all come on zoom, from wherever they’re at around the world, and they get in front of a whiteboard and we’re like, “What could we create from this product? We could put this in it, and this…” and just start dumping out as many ideas as we can. So now you guys have, let’s say I’m selling this product, “what else could we do?” “We could interview this guy, I could compile these things here, I could do this, I could make a video, I could do a workshop, we could do….” And all these things you can quickly create to turn this into an offer. Now really quick, I guarantee I know the number one thing going through some of your heads right now is, “Russell, that’s cool for all the coaches and the consultants and the info product people, but not for me. I’m different. I sell real stuff. I sell physical products.” Or, “I have a local business.” Or whatever your excuse is right now. I want to shatter these excuses because the biggest thing that’s going to keep you guys from having success over this week, is the thought of, “Oh, this doesn’t apply to me.” I’m excited, I think either tomorrow or the next day, we’re going to have Jaime Cross who’s going to be coming up here and speaking. Jaime is amazing because two years ago she came to Funnel Hacking Live, she was sitting in the audience, and she sells soap. And I was on the stage talking about webinars. I’m doing this huge thing about webinars and stories, this whole thing. And every other ecommerce person, I’m guessing, in the audience is like, “This is not for me because I sell physical products.” And Jaime said, “How could I make this work for me.” Twelve months later she’s on the stage getting a two comma club award. Twelve months later she’s onstage sharing her story with you. She took this concept of the webinar and made an ecommerce webinar. She took it and didn’t say, ‘This isn’t going to work for me.” But “How can I make this work for me?” And shifted some things and made it work for her and blew up her company. I’m so excited for her to tell her whole story. But I want you guys thinking the same thing. So I’m going to some examples right now. This is a product that I sell. This is a physical product called Viagon. How many of you guys have ever seen this before? The three people on my team. So back in the day when I launched 15 companies in a year, which is a horrible idea, don’t do that, one of them was this thing right here. I had a friend who had this company and he was getting in trouble and this little machine here, if you start getting a cold sore, as you as you feel it, how many of you guys get cold sores? You feel it tingle, you pull this out, if I can open it. This is a new one so the seal hasn’t been cut yet. Alright, then you peel the seal off. Alright so when you open this thing up, when you feel the cold sore coming on, come on. There we go. Alright you open it up and there’s these two little electroids, and you take and push the button, and let’s say you have a cold sore, you put it on your cold sore, and somehow, I don’t know how, some scientists figured out something. It’s actually patented and everything. It goes in and zaps the cold sore, destroys it, kicks it in the face and destroys it and the cold sore never shows up. Isn’t that awesome? How many of you guys want one of these right now? Really, I gotta get my funnel back up. So this is a physical product I sell, right. And you’re like, “Well Russell, I don’t sell information. This isn’t going to work for me.” But imagine if I did this, how do I turn this into an offer? This is a physical product, it does what it does. It’s just a thing. And the guy who I buy these from, he sells it to other people, so I’m not the only one. It’s a commodity. There’s like 30 other people who sell this same thing, only mine’s better. So for me, how do I compete over everyone else, when everyone’s got the exact same thing, it does the exact same thing. So I have to turn this from a commodity into an offer, because if it’s a commodity, I gotta be like, “He’s selling it for $150, I’m going to sell it for $130.” Then the next guy says, “I’ll sell it for $120.” “Crap. $110.” “$109” “$105” Boom, boom, boom, soon this thing is like $90.95 right, retail. That’s the problem when products are commodities. Or I could say, “Okay, this is amazing. This helps with cold sores, but what else could I do with cold sores? What else could I do? What else could I do?” I could go on Amazon and be like, “Cold sore cures and remedies.” And I guarantee there’s people on Amazon who have written books on how to do cold sores. I could message one and be like, “Hey man, you are the definitive expert on cold sores, can I interview you talking about all the tricks you know how to prevent cold sores from happening? I’m sure there’s stuff in your diet and exercise, right?” like, “Oh yes.’ So I get him on the phone and I interview him, now it’s like, “Okay, when you buy from anybody you get the same thing, but when you buy from me you get the cold sore inhibiter, plus you also get the interview with this dude over here who’s the number one highest stars on Amazon, writer of a cold sore book. You get his book as well, plus my interview where I actually interviewed him. And then number three, there are 7 supplements I’ve found that help get rid of cold sores. 7. There’s a whole bunch of people who claim the supplements, but there are actually 7 that work, and there’s two that work almost instantly. The second you feel a cold sore coming, you pop these two pills, gone instantly. And I wrote a report about those, because I want to make sure you get the right ones, if you get the wrong one, you get the right product but you get the wrong brand, you are screwed. So I’m going to show you the 7 supplements as well. So you get this first, plus you’re going to get the interview with the number one expert in the world, plus you’re going to get the 7 supplements, the actual brand names, where to buy them, how to get the discounts to all the 7 supplements. And the next thing you’re going to get is, blah, blah, blah.” I take a physical product and I’m bundling information around it to increase the value of the thing. So it doesn’t matter if you’re selling information or not, if you’re selling physical products, it’s the same thing. Information is the easiest way to bundle this. The problem though with infomercials, the only way they bundle is like, “If you call now, I’ll give you another one for free.” That’s what almost all ecommerce people do. It’s like, that’s good but its, “Now I got two of these things. So I have cold sores I can have one at my house and one at my office. That’s kind of weird.” But if I bundle with information products, it doesn’t increase the cost to you at all, but dramatically increases the value. Now when I’m competing with the 30 other people selling this, I can sell it for higher and people will still buy from me versus everybody else because my offer is better than theirs. Another good example of this is my friend Mr. Stephen Larsen. How many of you guys know Stephen? So this is a good example for any of you guys who are like, ‘I’m here Russell, but I don’t have a product yet.” So Stephen he has his own products, but he’s also an affiliate for Clickfunnels, he’s an affiliate for a bunch of other things. So we did the one funnel away launch, the 10x launch, a couple other things, he said, “Okay, Russell already created an amazing offer that he’s selling, but there’s a thousand other affiliates that are all selling this product as well. Everyone’s doing it, so how do I compete against this.” He said, “Okay, here’s Russell’s offer, how can I make my own offer to make it better?” People always ask me, “How can I make money as an affiliate, Russell?” The first thing you do is you don’t sell the product that they’re already selling. That’s like, “Buy Russell’s thing.” That’s like number one on your list, then it’s like, “Now I need to make my own offer.” How many of you guys bought the one funnel away challenge from somebody and then bought it again from Stephen later because you wanted his bonus? Okay how many of you guys have bought twice from Stephen because you wanted the new bonus the second time? There’s a lesson in this. So even if you don’t have a product yet, that’s okay. Find someone else with a product and then, “How can I now make an amazing offer? What could I bundle together to increase the value of this offer so people buy from me versus somebody else? Or if they did buy from somebody else, they’ll also buy from me because my offer is so valuable.” Alright, so this is kind of the exercise for you guys to start doing. Going through here and listing out all the different ideas you can have. So tonight, this weekend with that paper I handed out, start writing out these things, start putting them out there, and start putting as many as you can think of, and make it, the biggest problem you can have is you’re kind of putting in your potential products that are going to make an offer, is to be like, “Oh, that’s not going to work. That’s not going to work.” When you start it, be creative. When we first did this probably 12 years ago, we sat in front of a whiteboard and we were doing this and we were like, we were at a point where we needed a funnel to save us from everything. It was the bottom of everything. We were like, ‘We have to make the most irresistible offer ever or else we’re shutting the doors.” So we sat in front of a whiteboard and I’m like, ‘Okay, what can we give them? Okay, they can fly to my house and I will give them a massage and feed them food, and then we’re going to do this, and then we’re going to do this….” We made all this crazy stuff, we had it all on the whiteboard, and then we started saying, “What’s the offer actually going to be?” and we’re like, “Well, pretty sure my wife would be mad if I come to my house and had to give them massages. So let’s not do that one.” But it was there. And then it’s like, “Well, what if we did this and this…” It gave us the time to brainstorm and then from there we start pulling things over to actually make an amazing offer. Anytime I create a new funnel, new thing, I’m always looking at creating an offer, with as many potential things as possible, then think, “What can I actually create?” pull them into my little stack slide and it’s like, “Now I know what I need to create to increase the software.” Now, one thing I want to mention is well, the reason why I have a whole bunch of things as well is because there’s more than just one offer in every funnel. You guys understand that? So I need a lot of stuff that I can give away. So if you look at this right here, there’s an offer on my ad. I’m trying to get someone to click on something. So I’m like, “Click on this thing and I’m going to give you your free report.” There’s an offer happening there. Luckily that was one of my ideas that I already created, because I can now pull that down and it becomes this. Then they land on my landing page and I’m like, “I need their email address, I’m trading them. What am I going to have? Well I have something up here I’ve already created, potential products. I’m going to give them my interview with so and so.” “Give me your email address and I’ll give you an interview with so and so.” Boom there’s the next product. Then it’s like, “Now buy this product, I’m going to give you these 5 things.” Then my upsell is these three or four things. I think so many of us go into this thinking, “Okay, here’s the product I’m going to sell and I’m going to try and build a funnel around it.” And it’s like, no, no, no. Understand that it’s like, you’re looking at more of how do you serve your customers? What are all the things you could possibly give them to do that, and then you’re breaking down the different parts of the funnel. Okay, alright, come back to the hook, story, offer. So that was the offer section of this part.

Funnels – Behind the scenes of what happened at day #2 at Funnel Hacking Live. All the cool presentations, and Russell in an ice bath… On today’s episode Russell recaps day two of Funnel Hacking Live 2019. Here are some of the amazing things you will hear in this episode:: Find out which presentation Russell didn’t feel great about and how Stu McLaren was able to save it. Hear about who the speakers were on day two, and what they spoke about. And find out why Russell took an ice bath at the end of the day, and was able to stay in the water for over 5 minutes. So listen here to find out what you missed on day two of Funnel Hacking Live. ---Transcript--- What’s up everybody, this is Russell. Welcome to day number two of our Funnel Hacking Live recap. I hope you guys are all doing amazing today. And hopefully you guys liked the recap of what happened on the first day of Funnel Hacking Live. Now we’re going to jump into number two after we kick off the theme song. Alright everybody, welcome back. So as you saw, day number one was insane. Most people told me, “We could go home right now, and we got our money’s worth and a whole bunch more.” And I said, “I know, and it’s only the first half a day. Wait until you see what we got in store for all of you guys.” So day number two was Thursday. And it’s funny because I was so tired. I stayed up so late the night before. So much work and effort goes into everything. So my very first presentation, I wanted to do the first presentation to get as many people in the door as possible, that seems to help a lot. So I did one, and it was supposed to be on Traffic Secrets, which is what the new book I’m writing right now. And I did a whole event on Traffic Secrets, as you guys know, and I was really excited for it. The only problem is I started, I think because I prepared so much for the event, in my head I’m like, “Oh this will be really easy to start teaching it.” So I got onstage and the very first thing we did is we made Vince Palko and Ray Kay build a really cool comic book, that kind of joked about how Mark Zuckerberg is Zanos and how he’s going to snap his fingers and half the entrepreneurs traffic will disappear in the world, kind of modeling the Avengers. And we watched that, it was a comic book we gave everyone on their seat, and then we also watched the actual video that we made from it. It was so much fun. So that was the first part of the day, and then I did my presentation on Traffic Secrets. And I gotta tell you, for those who were there, I’m so sorry. I was up for probably 30 minutes teaching this concept and I just got flustered and my notes were out of order and it wasn’t as clear in my head because I hadn’t thought about it. I thought, “Oh, I’ve already taught this, it’ll be really easy to teach.” And it was kind of, I don’t know, I was off my game. That was the one 30 minute window of the whole event where I was angry because I was like, I feel like I dropped the ball. I was like, dang it. And then what was cool, we’re working on this really cool software program to go with Traffic Secrets. So Stu McLaren who is my partner in crime on this project, he came back out and literally saved me from this presentation. So he came and started talking, the energy was high, he just nailed it. He was so much fun. We went through and showed this new software that basically helps you to find your dream 100 and collect their data and watch their ads, and just really get to understand and master the dream 100. And it was cool, we were going to give it to everybody. We were going to sell it, well we kind of played it like we were going to sell it. So we made an offer, I was like, “First you’re going to get this and this and this and this.’ And then I was like, “It’s going to cost you guys just $6000, yay!” And then I wrote, “$6000” on the white board. And Stu’s like, ‘No, no, no. Let’s do it for cheaper.” He crosses it out and writes, “$1997” I’m like, “Dude, you’re making me look bad at my event.” So I come and cross it out and I’m like, “How about $997” and Stu’s like, “Wait a minute. I got the microphone. What if we do this for free?” And he starts doing like an Oprah moment, you know how she does like, “You get a car, you get a car!” and gives everyone free cars? He does this Oprah moment and he’s like, “You get it free, you get it free!” He runs in the audience and people were laughing and crying, it was so fun. So we actually gave everyone the software, the beta version of the software for free, which if you’re listening to this and you want to get it, it may still be open. If you go to fillyourfunnel.com, you can go and create it. But it’s a really cool chrome plug in that lets you go and start doing, building out your dream 100 which is really fun. So that was the first part of the day, which went really well. Then I got off stage, then we had Natasha Hazlett and Christy Nichol get up. And Natasha kind of pioneered this concept of a challenge funnel, which you guys have seen the one funnel away challenge, which is our main focus right now. I learned that initially from Natasha. So I wanted her to come speak and she was pregnant with twins. Now what’s crazy, is she was about to have the babies. So many fun stories here, but she actually lived in Boise, that’s how I’ve got to know them over the last few years, and then I asked her to speak at Funnel Hacking Live on challenge funnels, and she got all excited and said yes. Then she’s like, “oh, by the way Russell, I’m pregnant with twins.” I’m like, “What?” and I was like, she’s like, “I’m pretty much due the day I’m supposed to be speaking, but I’m going to go.” And she’s like, “I know that God’s hand is in this because I’m literally moving, and we’re moving to Nashville, where the event happens to be.” So she’s like, “I’m going to be in Nashville with my family, and I can come and do it.” So she gets onstage with twins, almost ready to have babies. I kept teasing that she was going to have babies onstage, and it’s funny, last year Rachel Peterson was pregnant onstage and almost gave birth onstage. I don’t know what’s happening, I keep asking these amazing women to speak who I don’t know at the time are pregnant. So I find out later. But what’s crazy is that Natasha actually had the babies like three days later. So it was literally like she was about to have babies. But she killed it, did an amazing job. And then one of her clients that she’s worked with is Christy Nichol, and her nickname is code red. Christy code red Nichol, and code red Nichol got up there and she showed how she did a challenge funnel. And she didn’t know about funnels or anything and she went from living on food stamps to getting the two comma club award by using one of Natasha’s challenge funnels. And then Christy got onstage, and she is insanely motivational. She’s got a big old blue Mohawk, and she’s just so motivational. She got onstage and just told it how it was. Said things to everybody that I wish I could say to them, but I can’t. And it was amazing. And those two just killed it. And it got people so excited about challenge funnels. And then also got them pumped into realizing their excuses don’t matter. And that duo was, turned out, I was nervous having, it’s always hard having two people onstage. I was nervous about it. But man, they choreographed it and just did such a good job, it was amazing. Then after that, then we had Bailey Richards. Bailey is the one who did our 30 Day summit. And she’s doing it for the Bootcamp summer right now. She did a whole presentation on virtual summits. And I’m not going to lie, I think Bailey is an amazing person, but I’d never seen her speak onstage. And she was probably the biggest unknown for me. Everyone else I’d kind of seen present in some format except for her. So I was nervous. And she stepped onstage and she just owned it. And it was, she did such a good job. And it was cool because she’s showing virtual summits, but not only does she talk about what virtual summits were, she showed the numbers in great detail. So all of my analytical people in the audience were freaking out, because she was like, “here are the numbers. Here’s how much, here’s what the offer should be and the price point, the conversion rate…” Just all of the stuff of virtual summits, how they work. And it was amazing. So grateful to have her come and her share all of the behind the scenes of how she runs virtual summits. Like I said, we’d done the 30 days.com virtual summit. We’re doing Affiliate Boot camp right now, and so this, it’s funny because I actually built my business initially doing virtual summits. So it’s kind of a full circle now, having her come and teach these things now, and bringing in a new generation and teaching them how to do summits, which is still one of the ways to build a list quickly. So Bailey did awesome. Then after that, Dean Graziosi came on. And Dean, if you guys know Dean, so when I was back, back in my junk mail days, when I was collecting junk mail, I used to also watch a lot of infomercials. And Dean was on infomercials way back like 20 years ago, and he’s been on TV every day for 20 years, until a couple of years ago. I think he stopped. But he was on TV every single day for decades selling, first it was his first info product that he sold on infomercials. It was called Motor Millions, how to buy cars and flip them. Then he started doing real estate after that. Anyway, I studied him, I used to watch his infomercials like people watch movies and I’d take notes on them, I just loved it. And then I had a chance to meet him a few years ago, and I joined his 100k group, just to get to know him better. And he’s just been a super cool person, and great friend and just someone I have a ton of respect for. So he came, and it’s amazing, all these speakers come for free. They all donate their own time and energy, but he came and it’s funny because he’s got his book, Millionaire Success Habits, and he was selling them not through infomercials. He was selling them through online. And he never had a social following at all. So he started this thing from scratch, but Dean’s just a pusher. He’s like, “I gotta figure this out. I gotta crack the code.” So he eventually sold 100,000 books through Instagram and Facebook and he thought that he’d burned the market out and it was kind of tired. And he’s like, “No, we’ve got to sell more.” And he kept pushing and reinventing himself. Kept creating more videos, more creative, and he got to the point where he sold 200,000. Then 250,00, then 300,000, and right now they just passed 500,000 copies of their books, sold through social media. Which I think made everyone, just oh my gosh, if we just push harder and get better marketing stamina, which is something that Dean said. If you have more marketing stamina, you’ll be able to push through these plateaus and actually sell your stuff. I think most people get tired of their marketing message way before the market does. And Deans proved, 500,000 buyers. They just keep pushing. You can do it. So he kind of showed his model and how he does it. And I remember we, Dean and I, swapped consulting days a little while ago. And the biggest takeaway I got from him when we were there was, he just puts out way more creative ads than we do. More ads than we do. We were doing like 2 new ads a week and he was like, “Oh no, I do 2 a day.” He’s like, “I have my phone and I’m making ads everywhere I go.” The more creative to be able to sell, more ads. So that was kind of cool. Then after Dean got off, I came onstage with him to tell a story about a new project he’s working on. He’s working on a software product, him and Tony Robbins, called Mind Mint. And he’s explaining it to me, I’m like, “That’s really cool. You create masterminds with it.” And he’s like, “Yeah.” And I’m like, “You should buy mastermind.com.” and he’s like, “It’s not for sale.” So I went to mastermind.com and whoever owned it was a two comma club winner. I was like, “Oh my gosh, Dean you have to have this.” So we talked to them initially and they wanted a million bucks for it. I told Dean and he’s like, “I’m not going to pay a million bucks for a domain name. He’s like Mind Mint is fine.” I’m like, “Ugh, but you need this. This should be your thing.” So Dave Woodward on my team, he went over and negotiated with the guys and got it down to, still a lot, like $600,000. I think that’s where it ended up, somewhere in that window. And then I went to Tony and Dean and said, “hey, here’s a gift.” And I gave them mastermind.com as a gift, which was insane. And Dean was like, “This is too cool.” And then him and Tony talked and they ended up giving me, and giving us, Clickfunnels, equity in mastermind.com, which is launching in like a month from now, which is kind of exciting. So mastermind.com is, we announced that from stage and told people what’s happening and told the story behind it, and it’s kind of fun. And how cool is that? I get to be partners with Dean and Tony on a business. I love it. So that was fun. There’s a secret dream 100 strategy for you guys. Buy domains for your dream 100 and give it to them. And depending on how big the dream 100 is, depends on how much you’re going to have to spend for that domain. Anyway, alright so that happened and then everyone went to lunch. Then Ray Higden came up and spoke, and Ray serves the network marketing industry. I’ve known him for probably 7-8 year now, when I spoke with him at the very first network marketing event I ever spoke at. I met Ray and just fell in love with him. Every time I’ve ever heard him speak, there’s something about him. You hear him speak and you just love him, you just want to, he’s an amazing human. And I invited him to come to this mastermind I did last year, called the Pirates Cove Mastermind, I just invited 6 or 7 people to it, and Ray was one of the people I invited to it. And it’s cool, he came to it. And on the flight over he’s like, “I should probably read Russell’s book, because I have never read it.” So he read Expert Secrets on the flight over, and then we started talking and he had this idea for a paid community called rank makers. And he kind of pitched that concept at the mastermind and then he went home and executed on it. And it’s like a $20 a month continuity program, and he talked about how he’s, because Kaelin Poulin spoke last year on how to build a culture, how to build tribe and community. And he wanted to come and speak on how to build a paid tribe, paid culture, paid community. And he showed what he’s done with rank makers. And it’s so fascinating. He’s doing network marketing space, but the model of what he’s doing could work in any industry. And he shared how he did it and how it worked, and the numbers behind it. And it was just so cool to see that. So Ray just crushed it again. Then after that I had Jaime Cross come up because it’s funny, everyone always tells me, “Russell, Expert Secrets is just for people selling physical products, excuse me, info products.” And I’m like, “No, it works for all businesses. You’re missing the point.” And Jaime was at Funnel Hacking Live two years ago, heard me talk about the perfect webinar. She sells soaps and oils and things like that. And instead of doing what most people did, and like, “This doesn’t work for my business.” She said, “how could this work for my business?” So she took the perfect webinar, tried to do it, did like a 90 minute one and it didn’t work. Then she did a 60 minute one, it didn’t work. She kept tweaking it, until eventually she created a version, it was a 5 minute perfect webinar, she launched it and boom it went from where she was at to two comma club in less than 6 months. So I wanted her to come and talk about ecommerce funnels and the perfect webinar. And she did and she killed it, and she crushed it. She shared this 5 minute perfect webinar that her and Jim Edwards built with everybody, and it was so fun to see her on stage. And prove once and for all that this stuff works for all types of businesses, it’s not just info products. You gotta take these principles and these concepts and tweak them for your business. And Jaime was willing to do that, put in the effort to tweak it and her business blew up because of that. And then having her come back and share that with everybody was just one of the coolest parts of the event for me. So cool. Then after that, then my man and partner here at Clickfunnels, John Parkes came up and talked about Traffic. And he likened traffic to the Greek gods and all this kind of thing, it was really cool. And he made it, at first I was watching and I’m like, kind of confused. He’s sharing cats and dogs and all these things and it’s like ah. And he used all the foundation he did with all these stories to build out this really cool thing. Like, oh that’s how retargeting ads can work in a really simple and easy way. It was fun seeing him onstage, as always, which was awesome. Then Ryan, Todd, and me came onstage and talked about Clickfunnels. Talked about Clickfunnels state of the union. We actually called the presentation Becoming a Die Hard Funnel Hacker. And we talked about all the new things we’re working on, the updates, talked about the team, and just kind of showed everybody behind the scenes of what’s happening at Clickfunnels. And then we tried to get everyone to upgrade to Actionetics MD, which half the audience already was that, so they just had to run back and get a free tshirt. And the other half, we convinced most of them to upgrade to Actionetics MD as well, which then they got a really cool shirt that said, “Die Hard Funnel Hacker” on it. It had a bleeding heart on it. And on the back it said, “#Ibleedfunnels” which was really cool. So we got a whole bunch of people to upgrade to Actionetics MD, which is one of the missions of Funnel Hacking Live every year, to get people to understand what we’re doing, and then hopefully to also get them to upgrade to Actionetics MD, which is really cool. Then after that, then we had a round table. So all the Two Comma Club X members, not all of them, but a whole bunch of people who won Two Comma Club got a table, I think we had 20 or 30 people out there, and then everyone had a chance to go and eat free food, hang out in the round tables and ask all the two comma club winners any question they wanted, which was really cool and people loved it, which is awesome. And during that time I actually went to my hotel room and I took an ice bath, which was crazy. So Brendon Burchard, who Brendon spoke twice, and I’ll talk about his presentations here on the next episode, but he told me he’s friends with Usher, and he said Usher taught him this trick that’s like, he’s like, and Brendon does these big, huge, long 3-4 day events where he’s onstage all day everyday for 4 days. And he’s like, “I started doing ice baths at night. I have the hotel deliver a whole bunch of ice to me, and then what happens by day 4 my throat is thrashed, but my body feels the same as it does on day one.” And so I, he told me about that a couple of years ago. So I keep joking with Melanie, my assistant, I’m like, “Hey, we should get ice in the rooms. We should get ice in them.” And then every year I wuss out and I don’t do it. But this time I told her that and she booked ice and I totally forgot about it. So we had done the Clickfunnels state of the union address and Melanie’s like, “Okay, they’re delivering ice to your room right now.” I’m like, “Oh no. I don’t know if I actually really want to do this. That sounds horrible.” So it’s funny, Anthony DeClementi, who is my biohacking buddy, was in the audience. So I text Anthony, I’m like, “Dude, they just delivered ice to my room. I need to do an ice bath. Do you want to come help me? Coach me through it because I’m kind of scared.” And he’s like, “Yes, I’m on.” So we go to my room and fill me tub full of the coldest water possible. They dump in all this tons of ice, they said, I don’t know what the temperature was, it was less than 30 degrees, something crazy. They coached me through it and said, “Okay, you have to get in but the time doesn’t start until your head goes under.” So I had to get in, put my head under and then they started timing. I was like, “Dude, I’m dying.” And Anthony was so funny, he rips his shirt off and he jumps in too. They coach me through it. So we’re both in the tub freezing, and we stayed in for over 5 minutes. And then I had to put my head back under again before the clock stops or something. So I’m sitting there freezing to death, finally I put my head under and then jump out. And he’s like, “When you jump out you have to scream like, AHHH, as loud as you can.” So I jump out screaming as loud as I can. And I think it was close to 6 minutes in the ice, which is crazy. He said most people the first time only do about 2 minutes. So I did good there, but it was painful and it was horrible. But I actually did feel really good the next day. So did ice baths at night and then we passed out. And that was the end of Thursday. So again, another amazing, I remember at the event I was like, “We’ve been here a day and a half at the event, and look what everyone’s gotten so far. It is literally insane.” Anyway, if you don’t have your tickets for next year, every year it’s funny. People always tell me, “Every year I’m like, there’s no way Russell can make it better than last year. And then every year it’s like, how did you do that?” So I got a big plate to fill and a lot of big plans, but the plan is to make this thing better next year than last year. So if you don’t have your tickets yet, go to funnelhackinglive.com because as good as this year was, next year hopefully, if I can do it, if I can deliver, if I can over deliver, will be even better. Thanks you guys so much and I will see you on tomorrow’s episode where I talk about day number three.

Find out what really happened this year, behind the scenes of the 10x growth con. On today’s episode Russell gives a summary of all the things that occurred day two of the 10x Growth Con Event. Here are some of the crazy things that happened: Hear what Garrett White had to say about Russell’s calling, that had everyone listening in tears. Find out how Russell was still able to give an amazing presentation despite an alarm blaring, and people doing the wave. And find out what prevented people from actually being able to buy Russell’s product at the end of the event. So listen here to see all that went wrong and right at the second day of 10x Growth Con. ---Transcript--- Hey everyone, this is Russell Brunson. Welcome back to the Marketing Secrets podcast. Yesterday I gave you guys behind the scenes of day number one of the 10x Growth Con, convention, event, what happened, how I did on sales, and hopefully you enjoyed kind of hearing behind the scenes of it. Now I’m going to take you guys to day number two because I had a chance to speak two days at this event. So I’m going to walk you guys behind the scenes of what happened there later on how my second presentation did, and share a bunch of other cool stuff with you as well. Alright, so I woke up day number two and once again I was nervous. So I woke up, got on my slides and start working on my slides and getting them fixed for this new presentation that I’ve never done before. I’m stressing out thinking, how in the world am I going to do this presentation? There’s an echo, nobody can hear me. And I did my best and got everything ready and then I headed over to the venue. When I got to the venue I saw Dave Woodward and Dave had been helping a ton. Dave is just amazing, an amazing human, one of the hardest workers you will ever meet and just someone who’s amazing at getting stuff done. So Grant and his team was pulling on Dave like, “What should we do? How do we fix this?” So they went and got pipe and drape and wrapped the whole upper concourse of the event, hoping to block sound. They opened up the top of the dome, because after Grant parachuted in they closed it, and it was super humid and hot inside. In fact, I was on stage just pouring sweat off my face because it was so humid. We had captured all the humidity. So they broke it back open, just like 10% open, just so some of the echo could get out. The changed the microphones, they removed some microphones, did a bunch of things to try to clean up the sound, and it was better. Still was not amazing, but it was better. So I got there and one of the things they said, “Russell, you can’t speak as fast as you do. When you speak this fast, everything bounces off the walls. If you’re going to do this presentation you have speak in sound bites. You say something it hits the wall and comes back, you say the next thing, it hits something and comes back. Everything’s got to be spoken in sound bites.” I was like, “Oh crap, I have a big, like a 200 slide presentation. I can’t do that in 90 minutes with that.” So I went in and deleted probably 50 slides to, in fact, some of my favorite parts. Someday I’m going to do this presentation and I want you guys to see it, because I literally do the presentation and in the presentation I show you what I did to do the presentation. It’s so cool. But I had to delete all that because it just wasn’t going to, I couldn’t get it all fitted in there, so I deleted a bunch of stuff. And then one of the big ideas I had for this presentation, I was going to bring other speakers onstage, people who have gone through our training, and let them go on stage and just tell their stories, which I was really excited for. So my second presentation was called 10x Secrets Mastery, and then it was how they could learn how to speak from stage. And I was really excited for this because at the last 10x I had 3.2 million, this one we had just done 2 million the day before. I was going to show them, “Look, how to make a million dollars, or 2 million. How to sell to the masses.” Like most of the people in the room were salesmen, I’m like, “Selling one on one is one thing, but selling one on many is a completely different skill set you have to learn and master, and I want to show you guys how to do this.” So we did when we created this presentation. So what happened, this is really cool. I think all of us were kind of feeling a little bummed out and sad from the day before because we hadn’t hit our goals. So we kind of licked our wounds and all the people who we were going to bring onstage, I had them meet me in the greenroom to kind of go over the presentation so I could show them what was going to happen and we could talk about it. So I brought them in and I showed them my presentation. Now a couple of the highlights of the presentation, I found footage of the very first time I ever spoke onstage, and it was so bad. So I showed them those clips. And I started walking through the presentation, and in the presentation I take two big jabs at Gary Vaynerchuk, which was really fun because Gary called me out on a podcast recently, so I thought, as long as I have the mic and I’m standing in front of 35,000 people, I should definitely make fun of Gary Vaynerchuk, so I did and it was amazing. It was cool because I talked about, there is two ways to become a speaker. Number one is to become famous and get paid to speak. I show how people like Tony Robbins, Schwartzenegger, Oprah, Bill Clinton, Ellen, Richard Branson, Cuban how much they charge for a keynote, which is like $200,000-ish or something. I was like, if you add all those up it’s 1.4 million to get all those guys to be your public speakers. But I was like, at 10x last year I sold 3.2 million, my take home was 1.6 million. So I was like, you can either become famous and make 200,000 grand, or learn how to sell from stage and make way more. And then I showed this picture of me and Gary Vaynerchuk sitting there and I said, “Look, there’s too paths and Gary chose a different one than me. Gary wants to become famous. Gary charges $105,000 for a speech.” And then I showed a slide where I was like, I made 3.2 million dollars in 90 minutes and then I went home to be with my kids and my family. And then I said, “Do you know how many keynotes Gary would have to give to be able to make what I did in 90 minutes. He’d have to give 22. That’s one a week, that’s 22 weeks.” And then I said, I showed a picture of him looking super tired. I said, “You could go and you could hustle and be tired if you want to become famous. Or you could just learn how to sell and make the same amount in one presentation.” And that was jab number one. And I made another jab later on, but it was fun. So for those who love Gary, sorry. But he talked trash about me, so I got my, I got the last word, which was amazing. People were laughing super hard, which was great. Anyway, then I went down and I showed them where they’re going to come in. So some of the people that were coming in to do parts of the presentation, the first one was Garrett J. White, he came in and he was going to talk about his results taking this framework. Then we had Brad Give and his partner Ryan Lee, who they’ve done, they basically used to sell financial services across a kitchen table, and then they took this methodology of selling to the masses and had a webinar pitch and they had 1200 people on a webinar last week, and now they actually just passed Two Comma Club X. They made over 10 million dollars on one of their funnels, which was amazing. Then I had Jaime Cross, who is using the same presentation to sell soap and her oils and things like that. And I had Stacy and Paul Martinos, Stacy came up and talked about how they’re using this to save marriages. Then I had, let’s see, who are the other people? I’m scrolling through here to make sure I don’t forget anybody. Then we had Natalie Hodson came up, she talked about going to the FHAT event and her experience. How she went to the FHAT event and four months later made over a million dollars selling her $37 ebook, which is amazing. Then I had Annie Grace talking about how she used this to help people quit drinking, and then she used it to make a bunch of money at her event. And then I had Myron Golden who was going to come up and do his magic, because he is one of the most amazing humans I have ever had a chance to meet in this world. And Myron, we were going to bring up and have him tell some of his stories and do what Myron does best, which is get the audience to buy. So we were all excited, and you know, I was still kind of nervous because of how bad it had been the day before. And it was funny because I kind of walked them all through the presentation, show them what worked, everyone’s excited and they started asking, “What’s the goal? How many am I gonna sell?” And I was like, “If we can get 100 I’ll be happy.” And Myron’s like, “100? We could do a thousand.” And everyone’s kind of all over the place, and it was pretty cool. And as we’re recording this, it was funny because Dan Usher, who runs the Clickfunnels studio up in Toronto and he’s an amazing videographer, he wanted to capture this thing by having Garrett kind of come and pretend like he was the coach. And it was supposed to be this joke thing. So Garret, they mic’d him up and then he came over and started doing this jokey thing for probably a minute, and then he just like, “Screw it.” I don’t think he said screw it. You know Garrett, he swears instead of that. But then he just like switched over into this, I feel like he was a coach in a locker room like coaching all of us through the callings we had, and how this was a platform we had to share these callings. And it was 5 or 6 minutes long, and by the time it was done I looked around at all the speakers and they were all crying. I feel bad because Annie was back there and her makeup was all smeared. And I looked at Garrett and as he’s telling this to me, directly to me, he’s got tears streaming down his face, and I’m sitting there and I start crying. And all of us are sitting here in this room, just bawling our eyes out, crying as Garrett’s talking about our missions and how they all tie together. Anyway, what’s cool is because we had put on the mic for this thing that we were trying to capture, we captured this whole amazing speech that was not planned, and brought me and so many people on my team to tears. So I actually wanted to share it with you. I got the recording of it, and I wanted to plug it in right here so you can hear what Garrett said, because I think it meant a lot to me and it meant a lot to those who are here. And hopefully it gives you guys kind of a glimpse of your business and my role in your businesses. You know when I was, over the last couple of years I’ve had times where I’m like, what am I doing this for? What’s the purpose, I help people grow businesses, why does that matter in the whole grand scheme of things? And it’s interesting because one of my mentors and friends, her name is Tara Williams, Tara told me, she said, “If you look at your mission, I really think it’s a couple fold. One is there’s people that have so much financial strain that they can’t do anything else, trying to figure out how to get out of financial strain and then you come in and give people the tools they need to free themselves from the captivity of debt or money, and when they free themselves of that, then they can look outward and start serving and helping other people.” And when she said that, I was like, “Oh my gosh, maybe that is my thing.” Because who cares if you guys make a million bucks, or ten million bucks. It doesn’t matter. What matters is if I can get the stress and the pressure of you having to make money off your back, then you can start looking outward and start serving other people. That’s why in our community I look at all these people. All the people who were on stage were all people who were, who had a vision, they had a message and they couldn’t get it out, so they came, somehow they bumped into us and what we’re doing and we were able to help facilitate and get them into a spot where they could take the pressures of money off their backs so they could focus on serving other people. And everyone who was speaking there had now served thousands and tens of thousands of people. Stacy and Paul Martino had saved over 10 thousand marriages. Annie Grace has helped thousands of people beat the chains of alcohol addiction, and on and on and on. So I think that’s why I was so emotional for it. So I’m going to actually plug in that clip right here so you can hear the speech that Garrett gave in the locker room. Garrett: Do you know why I’m here? I’m here because I believe in you, truly. I was already gone for 6 days. This is the longest I’ve been gone from my family in 5 years. I’m here because of you. You’re called to do what you do. I was not called to do what you do. Without you I can’t do what I was called to do. I’m not here for promotion, that’s great, it’ll be great for me, I’m here because I’m in your military force. I’m on your team, I’m in your unit, you’re the general. I run a unit, my men listen to what I say, in the way I’m called. I follow you because you’re called, like we stay here, I listen to your stories. Every single one of us have the same thing, I know the back story, I know what the story is. Yeah, the example is sell soap, but at the end of the day you’re sending a message to women. This shit is serious for me. When I shared with you earlier, the piece that they’re not getting today, and they haven’t gotten so far. They haven’t gotten the reason why I follow you. It’s this thing there. This thing that’s bigger than you and it’s bigger than me. Dude, I love you I respect the f*** out of you. Today I’ll go to war with you, but for something that you have seen long before I could see it. It’s not flowery speech for me to talk about how Clickfunnels did something for me, hey, what can I get from this? Without Clickfunnels, there is no movement of warrior. Without the frames, there is no conversion for men to learn to live and marriages and family f***ing die, in my world. People follow you because of who you are and what comes through you. The software is the weapon, the frame is the game, but you’re the reason. And I love the reluctant hero, I do. I love it. But there’s a piece in you too that’s ready to click. This is the piece that you got f***ing an army, just waiting for that little click of fire and it’s game f***ing over. There’s no one that will stand on this stage, that can harness the power, including me, that you have access to right now, because you built an army and you weaponized them. And you believe in God, and I believe in God. And I know that all of us here are doing something bigger than we actually understand. So out there was a circus yesterday, and it happened on purpose, and it set up what’s about to f***ing happen. From the beginning when you walk on to the beginning of when Martin and you finish it up, every single one of us has an important role to play, which is get into the state that’s required, so that when you start speaking the thing that comes through him comes through you. So that this is seen not as a Russell show, or a Garret show, or any of us, it is not even a CLickfunnels show. It is a movement of people who have been called to lead movements all centralized on one thing, which is waking people up. I see you, man. I’ve seen you for a long time and I know you see me, because in that we see the same thing. And when I get to spend time with you guys that I haven’t got to spend time with, I see the same thing in you guys. So all the frames to the side, the frames everybody knows, 35000 people doesn’t matter, that means that on the other side of a game we cannot see, there are numbers we cannot contemplate, that are currently standing and waiting for you simply to get out of the way and speak. And they’re sitting in the ears of everyone in their seats whispering, “This is the time.” So I’m here because I follow you. My wife’s life has changed because of you. It sounds funny that she was reading her book, but you were the only one that could have got into her. So I’m honored to be here, honored to support you and your calling. And I’m honored to meet all of you, and be here with you. And some of you I know better than others. And this was supposed to be a locker room speech of a different kind and be funny, and the truth is I don’t really know how to f***ing do that on queue. So anything funny I ever say, it’s not on purpose, it just f***ing happens. But this right here, this is why I’m here. And I needed what you had to be able to take this that I feel and take it to literally hundreds of thousands and soon millions. Thank you. Russell: Alright, and I don’t know about you, but again, in the room it had all of us crying. And I’m just so grateful for Garrett because it gave us, it kind of regrouped us and gave us the motivation like, “Okay, let’s get out there, we’re going to change all these people’s lives.” So we got done and then I had to hand the slides off to Jake on my team and Jake ran it to the audio and video guy, and I was like, “Okay, I can’t touch the slides again, here we go.” And so that’s what happened. Alright, so now fast forward 3 or 4 hours later. I was supposed to be the last speaker before the end of the day. And at the very, very end of the day they had some DJ or some Dougie Fresh, or I don’t know, something like that. He’s supposed to be doing some rap thing after me, but everything ran late. So everything was like an hour and a half beyond what we’re supposed to be. But they’re like, “The last thing is like this rapper, so just do your thing. This is how we’re making the big money.” And if you think about this, again from a choreographing of the event, this could have and should have been where this event made its money. It should have been the big payday, and everything should have been coordinated to that. But unfortunately, things happen. So I got back prepared to do my thing and a couple of things happened. Number one, right before I got onstage, and this makes no logical sense and it’s like the backwards choreography, but Grant was onstage and he told everyone, “Hey everyone, we’re going to do 2 for 1 t-shirts right now, but you gotta get them in the next hour, otherwise when they’re gone, they’re gone.” And literally 30% of the entire audience stands up and runs out, right when he’s announcing me. Runs out to go buy t-shirts. Like a $10 offer. It was like, you’re blocking a $25000 offer with a $10 offer. Everyone’s running out of the stadium to go buy t-shirts. Number two is every speaker has been announced from behind the stage, where the thing lifts up and you walk out and it’s this big thing. So I’m back behind stage, about to be announced that way, and then Grant messages his guy and says, “I don’t want Russell to be brought out from underneath the screen again, have him come out from the side of the curtain.” I was like, dude, you’re supposed to be positioning me to be doing the big sale, and then you diminish my positioning by having me come out from the side instead of under the…it’s just insane that he would do that. Anyway, whatever. So I lost the positioning, which hurts when you’re doing a $25,000 offer, then a fourth or a third of the audience was running out of the stadium to go buy $10 t-shirts, and then I was announced and came out. So that was interesting choreography. So I get out there and I start speaking and then an alarm goes off. Literally, there’s an alarm. Somebody set the alarm, and for the first 10 minutes of my speech there was an alarm blaring through the hallways of this whole thing, which is crazy. And then one section of the stadium, they decided to start doing the wave. So everyone’s up there doing the wave, and I hear them yelling and shouting, and I hear the alarm going off, and I’m up there like, “What in the world is happening. This is chaos, I don’t even know what to do. It’s crazy.” But I step onstage and start my presentation, and I start it slow. I say a line, boom deliver a line, wait for it to bounce back. Next line, deliver it, wait for it bounce back, deliver it…and I could feel it, there was something about this presentation that was different, it was magical, it was so good. So we’re delivering the thing and I bring my guests onstage and I have Garrett White come and do this thing and I have each person come and share their part, and it was just beautifully orchestrated. Everyone’s success stories and testimonials just weaved in perfectly, and it was like the perfect thing. Myron comes onstage, does his close, doing his thing and it’s just, it was magical. In fact, Myron leaned over to me at one point and he said, while one of the, I think it was Natalie, or Annie was giving their testimonial and he was just looking at the audience, and I looked and everyone was so engaged. And he’s like, “The worst case scenario you get a thousand people.” And I was like, “Oh my gosh. That’s 25 million dollars.” I’m freaking out. So we go through this thing and we finish the thing and then we’re going through the stack and the closing and we had one more close left and Grant’s team I guess was like, “The Dj’s supposed to be up right now.” And he goes to Dave and he’s like, “You have to get Russell off stage.” So Dave comes over and gives me this look like, you have to end this now. And I’m like, ugh. We had one more, the most important close of the entire thing we have left, it was Myron’s, the best one. And I have to go to Myron and I’m like, “We have to cut this off, we have to stop.” So we didn’t get to do the last close, which is like the most important close of the entire freaking thing, so we missed that one. I do the last call to action and I drive to everyone and said, “Okay, everyone on the floor, the people that paid like $10,000 to be here, there’s a sales table right here on the floor, go over here. It’s $25,000. There’s a sales table over here.” And when we got to the table people started jumping up and running. And upstairs told everyone to start running. And it was so perfectly executed. It ends, pull off stage, and I’m feeling on top of the world. I’m like, “Oh my gosh, the presentation was perfect. The delivery was perfect. People are running to the sides. Everything was amazing.” I go back to the green room, I’m kind of hanging out and relaxing. Oh and then, all the people who were onstage, they were over at the sales tables to go close sales, and I told them, “Look, all the people we met onstage today are over at the table, come over and talk to them, they’re going to tell you their stories. If you have any questions, how this will work for you.” So anyway, that’s what happens, people go to the things, I go back to the green room and kind of relax, waiting for the numbers, waiting for the numbers. And probably ten minutes later Garrett White comes in and he’s like, “Dude, you got screwed.” I’m like, “What do you mean?” He’s like, “They blocked off the sales tables. I was by the sales table and there’s all these people trying to get to me, and they completely blocked it off and they wouldn’t let us come back. I was trying to close sales and I couldn’t talk to a single person.” I’m like, “What?” Then the others came in and they’re like, “Yeah, we got kicked out.” And then Dave comes in later and he’s like, “The Fire Marshall closed off one of the sales tables because there were too many people supposedly on the floor. So the Fire Marshall closed off one, all the people running to the table, the Fire Marshall blocked them. And then the DJ, who was preparing for the thing, his team blocked off the other sales table.” So both sales tables on the floor, with all the 3000 people that paid $10 grand a piece to sit down there, the best buyers in the room, the two sales tables where people were supposed to get money completely blocked. They blocked the two sales tables. There’s no way for people to give the money. It was insane. So I’m like, “What in the world?” and then finally when everything kind of ends and we’re about to leave, Dave comes in and I’m like, “How did we do? How did we do?” I’m thinking like, if we bombed we would have done 100. Based on the presentation and the feeling of the audience, the people running and everything, I’m like, worst case scenario we did a hundred, which is 2.5 million, which is now will be at almost 5. I’m like, I guess we’re halfway to what our goal was. Dave comes up to me and he’s just pissed. So mad. He’s like, “I don’t even want to tell you, but I’ll tell you.” And I’m like, “What?” He’s like, “14” I’m like, “14?” He’s like, “Yep, they blocked both sales tables. We only got 14 people who randomly found us in other spots.” I’m like, “Are you kidding me. There’s no way.” And he’s like, “Yep, and now they’re kicking us out because there’s a rapper that’s going to rap, who will make them zero dollars at this event.” And it’s just like, oh my gosh. So that’s kind of how that one ended, which is just like, ahh, so frustrated. I feel like we executed everything on our side perfectly. So that night we took our team, all 40 of them who were killing themselves, we rented a yacht, and we went on this three hour yacht thing at night, had dinner with them, let them all dance and have fun and it was a good time. And then the next morning we woke up and all of our team went back and started closing deals. Our team closed another, they got 13 more people that they found in the hallways to sign up. So they ended up with, what’s that? 27 or so. I think we had 675 thousand dollars in sales from the 10x. So when all was said in done from the event, I think it was 2.7 million we ended, which again, is not bad. It’s great. But it’s just tough when you’re expecting 10 to make about 3. Anyway, so that was kind of how it all went. That next, that day we just kind of wrapped up the rest of the vacation because it was crazy. All of our affiliates from the 10x launch as well as the people who spoke onstage, we put them on, we were on these two yachts and we sent them to the Bahamas. So they went out that morning on this Mastermind Yacht and started masterminding while they were on the yacht. And then my wife and I had to go shopping for Funnel Hacking Live clothes, so we shopped til we dropped. And then we jumped in a private, in a sea plane, a private plane is a sea plane though. So it’s sitting in the water and it takes off from the water, and flies you over to the Bahamas. And we land in the Bahamas and we hung out all night that night masterminding with all those people, which was really cool, just amazing. So we masterminded with everybody, which is awesome. The next morning we woke up and jumped back on the yachts and went back to Miami. And that’s a whole other story in and of itself. We had, they smuggled somebody onto our yacht, who when we got close jumped off and swam off. They wouldn’t let us, a couple of us missed our flights because they wouldn’t let us off because of passport issues. It was just nuts. But somehow managed to be at the airport, my wife and I flew home and the whole trip ended. So that was the 10x experience. It was kind of funny as we were talking about it. Everything that could have gone wrong, literally went wrong on this trip. But at the same time we had such an amazing experience. Grant and his team, I love those guys, they work so hard. So many things are outside their control. The echoing, the different things. How do you get 35,000 people into a stadium? So many things like that, and they did an amazing job with the event. I think it was a smashing success for everybody. And while I was frustrated with some of the choreography of the event, that’s not their strong suit and it’s something that maybe next time we’ll work with them a little closer on. But anyone that can put 35,000 people in a room is amazing. I don’t even know how that’s possible, but somehow they did it. It was amazing. And the b-roll, the pictures. I’m sure you will see for the next year in every ad of mine you’ll see pictures and videos of all the amazingness, because we got to capture some cool stuff. So worst case scenario, we got the b-roll and it was a really great experience. So thankful for Grant and for Jared, for allowing us to come and partake in that and be part of it. And thank you for everyone who was there, even though a lot of you guys couldn’t hear me. I hope that you heard my message and the love that we have for all of you guys. We honestly want nothing more in this life than to change your lives. That’s why we’re here and why we’re doing this whole craziness, because I tell you what, I could have made 2.7 million dollars sitting at home not doing anything. But we wanted to come and have a chance to share our message, Clickfunnels with you and with everybody who was there. And also because it’s been interesting, you know this whole internet marketing thing that all of us are doing, is not mainstream yet. It’s funny because I feel like, when I got started doing this 15 years ago, it was like this weird thing and people thought that we were weird. And you know, one of the things I’ve been trying to do over the last 4 or 5 years is really make this a mainstream thing. Make funnels a mainstream thing. I want someday where people don’t talk about websites anymore, they talk about funnels. And I’m doing my best and I think this was such a huge platform for us to be able to share that with so many people. And I feel like for all you guys, whatever businesses you’re in, I’m trying to lead the way by making what I do mainstream and hopefully you guys will do the same thing with your businesses as well. So with that said, I’m going to wrap this up, my voice is almost gone. I’m going to get home, play with my kids. Thanks so much for listening everybody, and Funnel Hacking Live is now a week and a half away. I cannot wait to see a bunch of you guys there. I have 5 or 6 presentations I’m doing now to get ready for Funnel Hacking Live, it’s going to be amazing. And I feel like Funnel Hacking Live is our family, I’m so excited to go to that event and just feel at home with my people and people who get me and get us. And I’m excited to share that with all of you. With that said, I appreciate you all and I’ll talk to you all again soon. Bye everybody.

I am back from the 10x event, I have completely lost my voice. This episode I want to give you a rundown of everything that happened, the good, the bad, the ugly, and I’m excited to share it all with you. Alright everyone, so I’ve been getting blown up everywhere from everybody asking me, “How’d you do at 10x? What happened? Tell me the stories. I saw the pictures on Instagram and all the stuff looked amazing. How did it go?” and I know a lot of it came because last year’s 10x event we set a goal to do 3 million dollars in sales, and we did 3.2 in 90 minutes and it was amazing. And obviously we launched 10x secrets, the product, kind of talking about it, so everyone is expecting big things, which caused insane amounts of stress on my side, in case anybody’s wondering. It’s like, imagine winning an Olympic Gold medal and then going back four years later and trying to do it again, and everyone’s just expecting you to win. Ugh, it’s a horrible feeling. It’s way better to be the underdog. But anyway, we were excited, and there was a huge opportunity. Some of you guys probably heard it was in the Marlin Stadium and there was going to be 35,000 people at it. And we were so excited. So to prepare for this whole crazy event we started, a long time ago, started to prepare for it. What’s interesting, if you look at the very first 10x event we ever went to 3 years ago, we showed up there and we were trying to do my normal presentation and sell, and Grant and his team didn’t know a lot about events and how to choreograph them and stuff. So when we got there we’re like, “Okay, we need a table and sales people.” And they’re like, “No, we don’t really have that.” And so we kind of had to do it on our own, and unfortunately it was Dave there with a box full of order forms and some pens. And I did my pitch and they all ran to Dave, and luckily Alex and Layla Hermosi were also in the audience and they came and helped and those three sat there on the side of the room with no tables, handing out order forms and pens. And somehow they closed just shy of a million dollars from that. Then fast forward, you know, 12 months later, we did the 10x that was in Vegas, and obviously if you guys bought the 10x secrets product, you heard me talk about that whole choreography, there’s a lot that went into that. And we did the 3.2 million. So this year we thought, with 35,000 it’s going to be bigger, we gotta do even more. So we had over 40 of our team members that we flew out, and prior to that they spent so much time and so much effort coordinating where people are going to stand, how are they going to do it, how are we going to order click order forms, and deliver the pens? There’s a ton that goes into it. So for weeks and weeks prior they were planning and meeting and making sure everything was choreographed just perfectly on our side. The other side of then is I had to figure out my presentations as well. Though obviously, I have a presentation that I give that I’m selling Clickfunnels. It’s my Funnel Builder Secrets presentation. And I’ve given that presentation live probably 150+ times or more. But because I’m speaking at 10x each time, I try to change it enough that it seems different and new, but then it’s gotta be the same. You know, what works, works. And I don’t want to deviate from that either. So if you look at the very first 10x, I just gave my presentation the way I did on every webinar for a year prior, you know. For the second one I really changed a lot of the introduction and how I began the presentation. I talked about the four minute mile, I shared stories about John Reese, and it was a really quick way to impact people. So this year I wanted to change that as well. So my intro, I’m really proud of it. I started with the Winston Churchill quote where he says, “To each there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for that which could have been their finest hour.” So I led with that quote and started telling stories about some people in our community. I told Jaime Cross’ story, I told Chad Wolner’s story and then I related it back to their story. And I take people through that where most of entrepreneurs, we hear this calling where we need to come and we need to do this thing. And then unfortunately for us, we’re not, when we hear the calling it doesn’t mean that we’re ready for it. So then we have to go on this journey to become who we need to be to be worthy and able to actually fulfill on that calling. So we go on this huge journey and after you go on the journey and you’ve figured out how to do the thing it’s like, “Well, how do I get the impact? How do I get out to more people?” So I kind of told the story while weaving in all these different stories. And I was really proud of it and I think it turned out really good. Then from there I did my normal presentation. So I spent tons of time preparing that. Probably, conservatively probably 30-40 hours retweaking the original presentation to make it fit. And then also at this event Grant and his team agreed to let us speak twice. So once I get to sell Funnel Builder Secrets, and second time they wanted me to sell a public speaking training, teaching people how to sell from stage. So I had to create a whole new presentation that I’ve never done before. And I’ll talk more about this, I’m so proud of how this presentation turned out. It was legitimately amazing. Alright so, that was kind of all the prep work. Going into this, last year we made 3.2 million dollars with 9,000 people. So we’re thinking, 35,000 we should do at least 10 million. You know, some people were guessing 25 or 100 million and it was just kind of fun. But we always try to guess ahead of time. And I was so scared. I just hate going into it with those kind of expectations, because if you don’t hit them then you feel disappointed. I didn’t want everyone on my team to be disappointed. I didn’t care so much for me. I’ve already experienced all this stuff, you know what I mean? But my team was all huddling around us and everyone wanted to go do this thing and hit these big goals, so I had a lot of fear going into it. Like, “What if I don’t hit this and then disappoint them?” that kind of fear. Alright so then the night before came, where we’re getting everything prepared and ready and we were leaving in the morning. And one of my friends, Brian Underwood, he’s the founder of Prove It, a lot of you guys have heard me talk a lot about Prove It. He messaged me a little while ago and wanted to hang out and I was like, “Well if you want to hang out, I’m speaking at this 10x event, you should come pick me up in your private plane and fly us out there.” and he’s like, “Okay.” So he literally flew his plane and picked up me and my wife and a couple, Dave and his wife, and Melanie and Blake and we all jumped in this plane with him. So he flew in the night before and we kind of hung out in the office and talked for a while. And then the next morning we woke up and headed to the airport and we jumped in his private plane and he flew us all the way from Boise to Miami, which was amazing. Every time I fly private it makes me never want to go commercial again. So for any of you guys who fly commercial, never fly private, it will ruin you forever. I was telling Stephen Larsen this, I was like, “Don’t fly first class because it will ruin you forever. Just stay in coach as long as you can, because it’s nice. Coach is fine until you fly first class and you’re like, ‘oh crap.’ And first class is great until you fly private and then it’s like, just ruined forever.” Anyway, so we flew in four hours to Miami, which is nice because the flying home from Miami took us, we were in the air for 7 hours on two planes and we had like 3 or 4 hour layover. So it goes from like a 4 hour trip to a full day trip. Commercial versus private. Anyway, so thankful for Brian picking us up. He paid for everything, paid for the gas, the flight, everything. He just, it was super classy of him. So he flew us out there, we hung out and then we got to Miami. When we got there I was kind of freaking out because I get super nervous. So we headed over to the stadium, they got us in and we had a chance to see the whole venue and it was crazy walking in there. And I think I was supposed to do my mic check and give them my slides and go through them all at a certain time. And we got there and they were way behind. So we hung out there for probably 2 or 3 hours in the stadium. Tai Lopez was there, so he got to do his sound check and a couple of other people were just kind of testing the whole thing out. What’s crazy though, when you do the sound check, we start talking and the echo was so bad, you couldn’t even hear yourself. I was like, “If this echo is this bad, no one’s going to hear us.” They’re like, “Oh no, no, no. When 35,000 people are here it will absorb all the sound. It will totally be fine. They do stuff like this all the time, so it will be fine.” I’m like, “Okay because if it’s like this I can’t…” because standing on stage, I would talk and I could hear like bounce off the thing and come back to me. I’m like, “I can’t even hear my own voice.” And people sitting in the stands are like, “I can’t hear you either because it’s so echo-y.” But everyone’s kind of nervous but I said, “you know what, they must have done this before. There’s no way they haven’t. It should be completely fine.” So that’s what kind of happened the night before. And then we went home, went to bed, and I was super anxious and nervous and excited. So we went to bed that night and the next morning woke up, and woke up super early because I was, basically we had to set up. Grant was speaking and I was speaking immediately after him. And Grant was also going to parachute into the stadium. So we got everything ready, I got dressed in my fancy pants clothes that…oh, that’s the other thing. When we flew into Miami we had to get another shirt. So we literally went from the airport directly to Neiman Marcus I think. And then we had somebody, we found a shirt and then had the tailor, tailor it right there on the spot and then deliver it that night to us, which was crazy. So I had a brand new shirt on, brand new pants, all these fancy clothes. And we get over there and start waiting. And we walk into the stadium, you know, took us through the dugout and through the green room, which was a batting cage and everything. And we walked in the whole thing. And then I walked into the stadium and looked out and it was just like, oh my gosh. This huge thing, the roof of the baseball stadium was completely open, and I’m looking out and I’m like, “This is amazing.” And I looked back into the stands and the stands were almost empty. I was like, “Oh my gosh.” And I started feeling sick for Grant. I’m like, what if people don’t show up? What are we going to do? I looked at my watch and it was like 20 minutes until 9 and I was like, how are they supposed to get 35,000 people in here in the next 20 minutes. We knew that Grant was going to sky dive in…. Anyway, all the fears and the nervousness and everything started hitting up again. I was like, ah, you know, I didn’t know what to do. So we’re watching as it’s getting closer and closer and then finally at 9 o’clock, and I assume, man if people aren’t coming they’re going to push it out until 9:30 or 10 or something, but sure enough 9 o’clock you look up and you see Grant’s plane, I think it was Grant’s plane, flying above the stadium. And then all the sudden, boom at 9 o’clock this parachute pops out, this big huge 10x parachute pops out. And the Grant, I think it was Grant, someone else said it wasn’t, who knows? I don’t know. Maybe the world will never know. But Grant or Grant’s stunt double flew by themselves on a parachute into the stadium. It was like the most epic, amazing thing ever. And then they landed and they put a microphone on him and I guess he twisted his ankle or something, he’s like, “my ankle twisted. Right now we found out that traffic is horrible and bad on whatever thing, and people are waiting. So we are going to take a 30 minute break so I can get repaired and hopefully give a chance for more people to come in and then we’ll get started.” So then it kind of cut and then, which was kind of crazy because as soon as it cut, everyone kind of ran up the stairs to go the bathroom and it was this big, huge anti-climactic moment. It was so amazing, this entrance, and then it was like, “Okay come back in 30 minutes and we’ll get started.” But I think they did that mostly to get people in. So then people are coming in and coming, and finally Grant gets up onstage and starts talking, and the echo is really bad. It was really hard to hear him from the stands, and I couldn’t even imagine on his side. So I’m watching him and I’m just like, “oh my gosh. You’re kind of freaking me out.” But I’m like, you know what, I just gotta do what I gotta do. I don’t know any better, let’s just go do it. So finally about 15 minutes before I’m up they come and grab me and pull me back and mic me up and take me back to the backstage, and took me in this little black, this little room, curtained off room. I went in there and was so nervous, jumping around and trying to get prepared. And the I sat down to say a prayer and I have so much anxiety and nerves and tiredness and everything. I was saying this prayer and I totally passed out in the middle of the prayer. I woke up a few minutes later and I was like, “Oh my gosh, I’m still here.” But I’m in this curtained off little room, and all I hear is echo. I can’t hear a word that’s happening. There’s no video, there’s no TV’s back there. I have no idea if I’m up or when I’m up or anything. It was just kind of this random noise. I wish I could tell you the anxiety I was feeling. It was crazy. And then they came and grabbed me and said, “Okay, you’re almost up.” And they pulled me up onto the stage and started getting ready, getting ready, but I can’t hear anything. And all the sudden the wall starts going up, there’s this huge wall of monitors that starts going up, which I know is my queue. I’m like, “Oh my gosh, does this mean I’m up?” And the guy’s like, “I think so.” And this fog starts coming in and the thing goes up, and then it gets past my head and I just walk out. I’m like, I hope this is for me. And I walk out and I see this huge audience and it’s, it was crazy. Because at the last 10x event there was 9,000 people, but it was dark in the stadium, and the lights are shining in your face, so you walk out and you don’t really feel the people because it seems like you’re kind of, like you’re walking onto a stage and you know there’s people there, but you don’t really see them. This was completely different. It was the middle of the day, it’s all lit up and you walk out and you can see everybody’s faces. And it was like the most breathtaking thing. I had my first lines all figured out in my head, what I’m going to say and how I’m going to say it. And then the thing opens up and I was like, I forgot everything. I was just like, it kind of caught me off guard. I’m like, “Hey, wow. This is amazing.” What am I supposed to say again? It took me a few minutes to capture myself. The other crazy thing is I had these new shoes on that were super slick. If you watched my Instagram stories you saw that I was like scuffing them up and trying to make them not slick. But I totally took a step and slipped onstage. I caught myself and I’m like, okay note to self. Tiny steps, tiny steps. I don’t want to slip in front of 35,000 people. It was crazy. And then I started talking and what’s crazy, I start talking and…..actually let me back up, I want to kind of go through some teaching points here because it’s interesting. If you look at events, and any kind of marketing for that manner, it’s all about choreography. And I feel like Grant’s team has choreographed some things really, really well and some things not so well. And I think we’re going to have a call with them and kind of walk through some of my thoughts and feelings later, after they kind of recover from this craziness. But just for you guys, who are doing events. One of the big things is after Grant spoke he did a charity pitch, and it was like $67 to get access to this thing they sell for like 10 grand or 20 grand or something crazy, a really good offer. But that’s something we do at our events. A lot of times we’ll make a charity pitch on day one to teach people how the process works to go buy. And I think they were trying to do that same thing. But they did the charity pitched, unbeknownst to me, for $67 for a 20 thousand dollar offer, and people love it. They start running up and they started running to the sides of the tables, and right then is when the screen went up and I walked out. So I walked out to all these people running to the sides and the back of the room and running up the stairs to try and get this crazy offer that he had made to them, which is kind of a, from a speakers standpoint, the last thing you want is when you’re coming out onstage from a big introduction, and people running to the back of the room buying. If you’re selling there should always be a break afterwards, so people can get back to their seats and be able to focus back on you. So that was one kind of missed choreographed piece. But they did raise a lot of money for charity so that’s good. So I come out there and I start talking and the echo is really bad. I start talking and it’s bouncing off. I’d say something, and you know how I talk fast anyways, so I’d say one or two things, and so I’m saying it and it bounces off the back wall and come back and hit me. And it caught me off guard. So I’d hear myself again, and I’d try to go again and keep bouncing back and forth. It threw me off for the entire s90 minutes. I couldn’t keep myself, I never felt like I was ever in the rhythm of it because the echo was so, so bad. What’s crazy, and I had no idea, I’m like, maybe out there they can hear me. But it turns out that the echo in the audience is even worse. Especially some of the upper seats, if you sat in the upper decks, which probably 70% of the people sat up there, they couldn’t hear anything. In fact, after my presentation I found out that tons of people were going to those guys saying, “We can’t hear anything that’s happening, we need a refund.” It was this huge thing. So I’m doing my presentation and you know, 70% of the audience can’t even hear me. The one’s who can hear me, it’s still muffled and echo-y and it’s hard and I’m not on my game because this echo is throwing me off, and it’s confusing. So I did my presentation, I’m like, you know what, I’m just going to do it. Just hope for the best. About halfway through my presentation they came out and said, “Slow down.” Oh and during my presentation I showed some videos and a bunch of the videos, they worked, but the sound system was set up for like a concert. So in a concert they crank up the bass, and the singer singing on top of it. But with our videos, when the crank up the bass that high, the bass of the video comes through and we can’t hear any of the voices. So all my testimonial videos, you can’t understand a word. Everyone said, “I didn’t understand a word of any of your videos.” Which is like all the setup for the sell. Ugh, so many things. And then they came up later and said, “We found out it’s the mic on your face that’s the bad thing. So here’s a hand held mic.” So they gave me a hand held mic. So now I’m holding a mic and holding my clicker and trying not to slip. It was just like, so much chaos. Anyway, when all is said and done, did the pitch, did my sell, and somehow, just by the fact that 35,000 people could not hear me, 690 heard well enough to run to the back of the room and sign up. So if you look at the numbers, that’s 690 people times 3,000, that’s 2 million 67 thousand dollars in sales. So that’s not too bad, especially considering, looking at it now, it’s more than all the other speakers made combined. So even though it wasn’t 3.2 million, it was less, and it wasn’t the 10 we were hoping for, 2 million 670 thousand dollars is not too shabby, considering all the craziness. But obviously, afterwards I was kind of just upset because I wanted 10, I didn’t want 2. I was stuck in the stadium forever, I had to go pee and I had to take pictures with people and it was just this huge, all this stuff. And I just wanted to get out. I just needed to unplug. Introverted Russell needed to unplug and go plug in, go hide somewhere and recharge. It seems like it took like an hour and a half, two hours to get out. Get out of the stadium and get back to the hotel. Probably closer to three hours. Got back to the hotel and then I laid on the bed and my wife was talking to me and I was gone, out cold. And I slept for like 3 hours. I was just like, my body had shut down from all the stress and anxiety and late nights, and preparing and everything that went ahead of it. So three hours later I woke up and I was like, “Oh my gosh, what happened? I have no idea.” I was messaging Dave and Melanie and everybody trying to find out like, how do we run sells and get the numbers back. And they told me and I’m like, first off I was happy that 690 people heard me, but it’s just disappointing. 2 million is amazing, unless you’re expecting 10, then it’s like, it sucks. So that was kind of frustrating. So I got up, ate some dinner, and started working on my presentation for the next day. That night I had a chance to meet with Myron Golden, the man, the myth, the legend. He came and helped me work on the presentation. And then that night, Stephen came into the room where we working on the presentation in a bathrobe, Stephen Larsen. And then me and him started wrestling and doing Jui Jitsu and fighting, in his bathrobe, which was really fun. And that was the night, and I went to bed. Alright, so that was day number one of 10x. Now, on the next podcast episode I’m going to take you guys into day number two. And day number two I’m going to talk about what happened on the second presentation. Did we fix the echo? Did we sell the 25 thousand dollar thing we’re trying to do? What happened in the locker room with Garrett White and a bunch of other cool speakers? And a whole bunch more. So thanks so much for listening to episode number one, and I’ll see you guys tomorrow for episode number two of the 10x live event, and we’ll go from there. Thanks everybody, and we will see you soon.

Today’s guest on Just the Tips has done something that, as far as Dean and I know, is nearly impossible: Built a thriving, rapidly expanding business while also raising four boys. Jaime Cross is the founder and CEO of Mighty in Good handcrafted bath and body collections, and her story is truly inspiring. It’s not just the fact that she’s built a successful business while balancing family life, it’s that her business has philanthropy hardwired into its model. If you’re looking for something to listen to that will get you fired up and inspired for the new year, this is the episode you were looking for. A company built around impact, not profit Jaime told us an incredible story of being home with her first chil and having a literal dream that became the blueprint for Mighty in Good. She says she can still see the dream and the blueprint to this day, and she’s never strayed from that vision. And as she tells us, she believes that if you run a profitable company, it’s your duty to give back, so Mighty in Good has partnered with organizations to help fund work to stop human trafficking, and donated products to chemotherapy patients to help them feel better. And the company makes organic sex oil. So really, all the bases are covered here. How Jaime slew Goliath Jaime says that her vision for her company has allowed her to compete directly with the big players in the skincare industry, by focusing on their values and what makes their products so different and so important to people. And that has made Mighty in Good the fastest growing organic skincare company in the world right now. She allowed us to share what their monthly revenue is, and I’m not going to put it in here, you’ll have to listen. And you’ll want to hear Dean’s mind being blown live on air, as well. Better the pain of discipline than the pain of regret Jaime talks about how entrepreneurs need to have the proper mindset for growth, and for overcoming obstacles, in order to achieve their dreams. She told us about a quote she has “inscribed anywhere I can have something inscribed” that reads “Better the pain of discipline than the pain of regret.” And as she says, that mindset encompasses a number of different viewpoints, including forcing yourself to do difficult things, but also surrounding yourself with people whose skills complement yours. It’s a really insightful and inspiring conversation that’s perfect for anyone at any stage of the entrepreneur growth chart. Own your audience Jaime is so forward-thinking in terms of where her industry is going and where her business within the industry is going. She read the tea leaves about wholesaling and selling through retail, and turned instead to e-commerce and click funnels where her company can interact directly with its audience, and she’s never looked back. This is truly an episode that will get you motivated, and get you thinking about your own path. If you listen to one episode of a podcast in 2018, make it this one.
