A sports podcast by two friends who are locked inside their house, and locked in to the sports world. Welcome to Locked In.
New format! We simulate an NBA game in this episode format. Jump ball (0:48) features Draymond Green's max getting tossed up for grabs. Q1 (10:59) looks deeper at the Rudy Gobert trade and why this is such a gamble for Minnesota. Q2 (22:45) examines KD and some potential landing posts for him, as well as the recent Boston trade offers and how a Celtics team could look with everyone's favorite Twitter troll. After a quick halftime where Ani tries to sponsor us, Q3 (38:00) features some Donovan Mitchell talk. Is he a top-15 guy? Top-20?? Q4 (46:20) features us discussing two teams that were atrocious last season but could be fun/pretty good this coming season. Finally, in our OT segment (52:32) we discuss MLB stud Juan Soto refusing a $440M contract as well as an update on the F1 standings as the summer break approaches.
We are super excited to have Coach Nick from BBALLBREAKDOWN on the pod! His film analysis and coaching breakdowns have been a basketball YouTube staple for many years, and he's worked with players at all levels of the sport. We had great conversation, and please check his work out @bballbreakdown on all socials.
See ya next season, NFL. Congrats to the Rams!
Shoutout to Dr. Nirav Pandya for joining us on the pod today! This mini-episode focuses on sports medicine, some Wiseman/Klay talk, NBA injuries, and more. Check out his profile at: https://twitter.com/DrNiravPandya
Shoutout to Jay Appaji (@jappaji4) for joining us on the pod to talk all things Mavs! Gave us a lot to discuss, and it was nice hearing perspectives on a team that neither of us follow all that closely. Check out a podcast that he's a co-host of, the Mavs Film Room (https://twitter.com/MavsFilmRoom). Plus, all the things we like and dislike about the Eastern Conference NBA teams.
Shoutout to Heramb for joining us on the pod this week to talk Niners with us. We also recap both title games, look ahead to the Super Bowl, and spend some time on the important Brian Flores v. NFL situation.
Was that the best weekend of playoff football in NFL history? We recap it all and look ahead to the conference championships.
First episode done in person. We are BACK. Bucks are champions, NBA free agency, and a little more.
Free agency, but football style. What's going on around the league? Did Dak deserve the extension? Plus, some NBA All-Star stuff at the end.
Who was snubbed? Can we make a 15-man roster of all-star snubs? Plus, we go a bit into NBA Topshot, the future of trading cards, crypto, and more.
Episode 33 - NBA West Progress Reports (recorded Feb 1st) by Locked In Podcast
Chiefs. Bucs. Game on.
How's the NBA Eastern Conference doing? Is Joel Embiid the MVP favorite right now? We are back! No more missed weeks, one episode minimum per week the rest of the year.
The NBA starts back up tomorrow, and it feels like last season just ended. Free agency final updates, hot takes, and a lot of basketball coming your way. LFG
Ah it's time to talk about everyone's favorite sport: the NBA offseason. Drama, roster reshuffling, and more to discuss on our 30th(Steph Curry would be proud) episode. We got through the first 15 teams going in alphabetical order, stay tuned for part 2 where we finish up our offseason conversations. We have a twitter now, @lockedin_pod. Follow us for episode updates and more!
With a little more than half the season (for some teams) in the books, NFL hierarchy seems to be changing on a week-to-week basis.. We discuss some issues with top contenders, some potential sleepers, and a lot more on this NFL-heavy episode!
Congrats to the Los Angeles Dodgers and especially Clayton Kershaw, but Blake Snell was done a HUGE disservice in game 6. Plus, NFL Week 8 previews and some NBA front office changes to discuss. We're back!
Another glorious (yet cautiously optimistic because of all these COVID cases) week of football is upon us. Can Russ continue his crazy MVP season? Are the Chiefs in trouble? What is up with the Chargers and blowing leads in games they should win? All this and more on episode 27; this will also be up on our YouTube channel as a video podcast! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3MfxqPp1a26siqy0FfBEog
What a year, what a bubble, and what a finals ending for the Los Angeles Lakers. Lebron took his legacy to yet another level, AD showed out in the game's biggest stage and brightest lights, and the role guys came to play. We answer some existential questions, talk about Miami's gutsy year and what they should do next, and more on this NBA finals recap!
All things from the NBA Finals Game 3 and 4! Jimmy Butler had a signature, all-time performance in Game 3, but AD and LeBron responded in a tremendous way in Game 4 (with some help from the role guys, of course). Listen to us talk about the Lakers supporting cast stepping up, Miami's adjustments; plus, NFL Week 4 recaps and previewing an exciting yet possibly turbulent Week 5.
old NFL episode previewing Week 4, initially unaired [unedited audio]
The Doctor is OUT in LA! Discussing coaching candidates to replace Doc, recapping the conference finals (with a little disappointment towards the Celtics), and sharing our thoughts on what should be an INCREDIBLE finals as the Miami Heat take on the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2020 NBA Orlando Bubble. All basketball today (NFL later this week).
The NFL has had an injury crisis. Stars, supporting cast, even practice squad; everyone has been hit by the injury bug. We discuss this, talk about the actual games, before switching over to the NBA to talk about a signature moment for AD and the Lakers. Since recording this, the Nuggets have climbed back into the series with a gutsy game 3 win.
The Nuggets! The 3-1 deficit means nothing to these guys. Plus, discussing the intensity of the Miami-Boston series in the East, looking ahead to Nuggets-Lakers (recorded before game 1), and touching on all the NFL Week 1 games/previewing week 2. Keep up with all the episodes and more on our website, www.lockedinpod.com
NFL on Sundays may be the most normal thing about 2020 left, and we're here to cover everything this upcoming season. We're starting off with our 2020-2021 AFC preview, as we look at all the contenders, pretenders, identify some sleepers, and discuss what some teams on the edge need to do to improve. Football! The NFL! It's good to be back.
Two game 7's, two ridiculous endings. Plus, the NBA Eastern Conference semifinals has sneakily started with the Bucks and Raptors facing a world of trouble. Talking all that, plus previewing the now-finalized Western Conference Semis, on episode 19 of the Locked In Podcast! Remember to follow for updates and more on www.lockedinpod.com (and check out our insta @podcast.lockedin)
AJ Mccord joins the pod! Super grateful to have her on. Covering all Oregon sports + the Seattle Seahawks for KOIN-6 up in Oregon, AJ speaks to us about Jamal Adams, Dame and CJ's relationship, the Portland sports market, and a whole lot more. Follow us on our socials as usual, and look out for some new episodes coming very soon at: www.lockedinpod.com
With our instant reactions to the craziest sports days, "No Huddle" episodes will be ~20 minute listens focusing on the insanity of certain sports moments. Today's episode discusses Damian Lillard, his 61 point outburst against the Mavs, and the race for the 8th seed in the West. The bubble is getting even more spicy.
(15:02) - We are close to a third of the way through the NBA Bubble, and there is chaos! By the time we uploaded this, the Suns beat the Clippers, the Blazers beat the Rockets, Jaren Jackson Jr. has been ruled out for the season (this is genuinely sad, best of luck in his recovery), and TJ Warren has continued his onslaught. Who will take the 8 seed in the West? Plus, some quick MLB recap.
A very special episode with 4 (yes, really, 4) guests! We are very excited to have Anuj, Dish, Neil, and Zach on our very first NBA Zoom episode to draft teams of NBA legends. This group of six is going to be called "the benchwarmers" moving forward, and will primarily discuss all things basketball. If you'd rather watch along and see the drama unfold in person, check out our youtube episode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agujd2NcDfE Apologies for the subpar audio quality compared to some older episodes, all the audio was just through headphone mics on a zoom call! We'll work on this for future group episodes, but hopefully for now it's just a temporary issue.
Thrilled to welcome Kerith Burke, Golden State Warriors sideline reporter for NBC Sports Bay Area, to the pod! We discussed the relationships between players and the media, the prep needed for a sideline reporting job, her experiences covering some of the great basketball teams and coaches of all time, and much more. Plus: our website is now live! Check it out for episodes, blog posts, articles to accompany our episodes, and more at: www.lockedinpod.com
A lot of incredible athletes gave us some memorable sports moments this decade, but who were the best of the best across the leagues? We picked our all-decade teams for three prominent American sports leagues, with a few notable surprises here and there. Timestamps: NBA(9:15), NFL(33:35), and MLB(47:34). *technical issue: sorry for some small mic bumping noises here and there, my mic desk mount needs an adapter which i left back in college, so I'm gonna go grab that sometime soon - Sri *Clarification: In the NFL segment, Ani said he had TJ Watt on his NFL All-Decade Team for the fullback position. He meant to say Derek Watt, fullback for the LA Chargers, not his brother TJ Watt, linebacker on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Sports seem to be coming back, and each league has widely different plans for their respective returns. We're talking bubbles, baseball, and even revisiting some Deandre Hopkins trade talk (were we too harsh when criticizing it initially?) Recapping some of these decisions, the intersection of public health and sports, and more in one of our densest episodes yet.
Derek Rhodes, Director of Business Strategy with the Miami Heat, joins us on the pod to discuss key aspects of sports business! We go over fan engagement, how data science is playing an integral role in his field, and much more. Check out his website, derekrhodes.com to learn more about him, his experiences, and how he's helping to drive positive change.
#blacklivesmatter. We can help out the black community in so many ways; continue to educate yourselves, donate if financially able to, and let your voice be heard. NFL Twitter was ablaze, as sports intersected social issues in a wild roller-coaster ride this week (12:44). Also, the NBA is back! Our thoughts on some intriguing matchups, the race for the 8 seeds, and more (26:43).
10 episodes in, thanks for all the support so far! We're all familiar with our beloved heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but what if we cast athletes of the past and present to form the ultimate superhero team? We took Avengers that appeared in "Captain America: Civil War" (because otherwise there were way too many to discuss, apologies to the Guardians, Okoye, etc.) + Thor and Hulk; were our lists accurate, though?
Huge honor to have high-flyin' Darrell Armstrong on the pod! The 1998-99 NBA Sixth Man of the Year and Most Improved Player Award winner (only player to ever win those awards in the same season), Orlando Magic Hall of Famer (only the 5th player ever to be inducted by the Magic), and current assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks shares his insights on his playing career, switching to a role in coaching, how the game has evolved, and a lot more.
Super thrilled to have the creator and current manager of the instagram page @real.nba.quotes, Mason, join us on the pod! Be sure to check out his page on insta as well as his podcast page, @thefoulineshow. We talk about how he started off, how @real.nba.quotes has become one of the funniest sports pages on the internet, and discuss some Cleveland sports as well (he's a huge Cleveland sports guy). intro music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ge3LBCaqq_c&list=PL7pkSK1xbGD4sSDQ86Pyj-wp2wdEGZ8qE
A hearty game of sports trivia, along with some non-sports categories as well! Plus, we start the episode off by briefly recapping the NFL Zoom Draft. intro music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ge3LBCaqq_c&list=PL7pkSK1xbGD4sSDQ86Pyj-wp2wdEGZ8qE outro/background music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2MabQHeLM0
Answering the questions y'all asked us on instagram! Best Kanye albums, hardest sport to compete/train in, best dynasty in sports, and more. Plus a Gronk trade, best QB-pass catcher duos, and roasting Justin Herbert once again.
We ranked our top 10 Pixar movies, with a few surprises on both our lists. intro music: "married life" from Up (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPEhc-Ta5Pc outro music: "nemo egg" from Finding Nemo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHD5gfLTXAY)
We donated $120 for Covid-19 relief! On this episode, we make lists for some of the more underratedly influential athletes of the last 20-ish years (a few were super throwback though).
We reminisce about some of our favorite sports movies and TV shows. Definitely brought back some good memories. intro music: www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0viJaR8wLU&t=1s outro music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg7b3U0Y1dY Disclaimer: we DO NOT own the samples/music used in our intro and outro.
