The Southeastern 16 crew of Graham Doty, Alfred Ezman and Chris Lee previews LSU baseball for the 2026 season. Topics include: There's no debate: LSU, after winning last year's national title (making it two in the last three years) is the country's best program. The Tigers have continuity, thanks to Jay Johnson and a stable staff that's been in Baton Rouge for multiple years. LSU's pitching is loaded. The headliner is Casan Evans, last year's star reliever who transitioned to starting late in last year and was spectacular there, too. The Tigers have a ton of elite, returning arms who will be factors, including Zac Cowan, Jayden Noot, William Schmidt, Mavrick Rizy, Cooper Williams, Connor Benge and DJ Primeaux. Also look out for Gavin Guidry, who'll try to pitch (and should, though the timeline is uncertain as of January) again this year. Guidry was a valuable part of LSU's bullpen in 2024 but missed last year after surgery. The Tigers got elite arms Regan Ricken and Marcos Paz through the draft, too. Each should have significant roles in 2026. The offensive headliner is draft-eligible-sophomore outfielder Derek Curiel, who was a superstar as a freshman. Curiel seems to be LSU's center fielder after playing left last year, and is a candidate for this year's Golden Spikes Award, as well as to go top-10-overall in the 2026 MLB Draft. Returning shortstop Stephen Milam is one of the country's best and perhaps the heartbeat of the team. Right fielder Jake Brown could have a breakout year and John Pearson stands to be one of the top outfield reserves, with Chris Stanfield again returning to start, though likely in left. LSU killed it in the transfer market with infielders Trent Carraway (Oregon State), Seth Dardar (Kansas State), Brayden Simpson (High Point) and Zach Yorke (Grand Canyon). Catcher might be the biggest question, but Cade Arrambide played well in 75 plate appearances as a freshman. LSU got several highly-regarded bats through the draft, too, including outfielder William Patrick. Are the Tigers the best team in the country? We've got an opinion on that, and more! &COLLAR Use promo code SEC16 for 16% off! The Washington Commanders (4-11) host the Dallas Cowboys (6-8-1) on Christmas Day at Northwest Stadium. The game is at 1pm and can be seen on Netflix. The episode begins by discussing the latest episode of Hard Knocks, which features Frankie Luvu and sees the Commanders lose to the Eagles. The All-22 Review against the Philadelphia Eagles displays heart, passion and fight, but did the coaching staff really want to win? It was a weird game that KDot walks through. We begin the matchup preview against the Dallas Cowboys with the injury report, which sees 3 more players go on IR: Eddie Goldman, Jaylin Lane, and Sam Cosmi. The injury bug could not bite us any worse, with Laremy Tunsil and Daron Payne missing the game as well. Dallas is likely to be missing DeMarvion Overshown and Tyler Guyton, but all the other guys will be available. The Commanders offense features Josh Johnson, with Jeff Driskel as backup, and the Cowboys offense features Dak Prescott. While the offense heavily favors Dallas, the defense has greatly struggled, leaving opportunity for the Commanders. The Commanders are home underdogs by 8.5 points, and the over-under is 50.5 points. The Week That Was — Christmas Heat, Red Cards & Ridiculous BetsThis week's pod kicks off with a classic catch-up before we dive head-first into the big questions of life… like why old blokes insist on mowing the lawn in 40-degree heat. Australia retains the Ashes, Boxing Day punting plans are declared, and Mbappé decides he's chasing Ronaldo's Real Madrid scrapbook. We debate where Erling Haaland's ceiling actually is (the moon?), relive Tottenham's red-card fever dream against Liverpool, and admire Pike delivering an absolute peach on Apulia. There's Ascot horses to follow, full accountability for all the tips we butchered, plus European football best bets, A-League locks, and an EPL Matchday 18 preview that will either make you money or ruin your Christmas. We roll into “a new bet every day until New Year's Day,” celebrate Ka Ying Rising & Half Yours having a better year than half the population, and then somehow end up discussing Lily Phillips, Bonnie Blue or Brandi Love… as you do.There's Hugo Ekitike memes, England inventing sports they can't win, Chase Demoor trying to punch Tate, Anthony Joshua breaks Jake Paul's jaw, and our sporting highlights of the entire year — all before signing off for 2025.It's unhinged, it's festive, it's deeply unserious… and it's exactly what you need in your ears this week.
The Washington Commanders (4-10) host the Philadelphia Eagles (9-5), who come to Northwest Stadium in the hopes of clinching the NFC East division title for consecutive seasons. The episode begins with Hard Knocks, episode 3. Zach Ertz reviews film with Ben Sinnott, Terry McLaurin inspires the Commanders to victory, and we see the team finally have a celebratory locker room. The All-22 Review against the New York Giants highlights special teams and Jaylin Lane. Offensively, the run game was strong with Bill Croskey-Merritt, and then Antonio Hamilton and Mike Sainristil had excellent games on defense. The Eagles Commanders game preview begins with the injury report, that sees the Commanders missing Eddie Goldman, Jayden Daniels, Laremy Tunsil and Colson Yankoff. The Eagles are missing Lane Johnson and Jalen Carter. The Commanders offense, led by Marcus Mariota, has a tall task against the Eagles defense that has been great all year, and even better after their week 9 bye. What are our opportunities on this side of the ball against Nakobe Dean, Quinyon Mitchell, Jordan Davis and this Eagles defense? The Commanders defense, coming off a solid game against the Giants, takes on a talented but inconsistent offense in the Philadelphia Eagles. It features Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. How do we look to slow this offense down? The Commanders are 7 point underdogs against the Eagles, and the over under is 44.5 points. What is your prediction for the game? The Side Piece report discusses the New England Patriots, JJ McCarthy, and that epic Rams-Seahawks game that just took place. The Washington Commanders (3-10) go to New York to take on the New York Giants (2-11) in a game being described as the “Caleb Downs” game. Before we dive into the matchup, we begin with the All-22 Review against the Minnesota Vikings from Sunday, where we lost 31-0. KDot gives out no game ball, and is entirely frustrated with the defense + lack of consistent dialing up of the running game on offense. We also touch on HBO's Hard Knocks, featuring the NFC East this season. Zach Ertz suffers a tragic end to his season, and potentially his career. We begin the matchup preview, as we always do, with the injury report for the game. The Commanders will be without Jayden Daniels once again, but are largely healthy outside of that (and the guys on IR). The Giants are banged up as well, but feature Jaxson Dart, who has had a nice rookie season thus far.The Commanders offense, featuring Marcus Mariota once again, takes on a horrible Giants defense that gives up over 6 yards a carry to running backs, and even more than that in recent weeks. This should be a heavy dose of Chris Rodriguez, Bill Croskey-Merritt and Jeremy McNichols, but will Kliff Kingsbury lean on his running game? If he doesn't, the Giants have also given up the highest passer rating in the NFL since week 8 at 114.4 a game. The Commanders defense goes against Jaxson Dart, who was played very well in his rookie season. How will the defense respond to a horrendous showing against JJ McCarthy and the Minnesota Vikings? The Commanders are road underdogs by 2.5 points and the over-under is 46.5 points. The Washington Commanders (3-7) go to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Vikings (4-8), led by QB JJ McCarthy, a fellow 2024 QB draftee. Before we dive into the matchup, we begin with the All-22 Review against the Denver Broncos from Sunday night. KDot gives his game ball to an entire unit, and was pleased with the fight and effort he saw from the Commanders. We also touch on HBO's Hard Knocks, featuring the NFC East this season. Dan Quinn delivers an elite speech in the locker room after the Broncos game.We begin the matchup preview, as we always do, with the injury report for the game. The Commanders are getting healthier, with Jayden Daniels back and Terry McLaurin in line to continue playing. However, Bobby Wagner has not practiced the past couple days, so his status is up in the air. For the Vikings, Christian Darrisaw is a question mark. The Commanders offense, featuring Jayden Daniels once again, takes on a Vikings defense that blitzes more than any other team in the NFL. Andrew Van Ginkel returned around a month ago for the Vikings, which directly lines up with their defense playing much better. This is an opportunity for Jayden to play well against the blitz, something he was brilliant at last season, but struggled with this season. This will also be the first time Jayden Daniels has Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel, Noah Brown and a fully healthy projected starting offensive line all season. The Commanders defense goes against JJ McCarthy, Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason, Justin Jefferson and the rest of this Vikings offense. JJ has turned the ball over in every game he's played, but when he only turns it over once, he's 2-0. The Vikings run through their running game, so it is critical we stop it.The Commanders are road favorites by 1.5 points and the over-under is 43.5 points. The Washington Commanders (3-8) take on the Denver Broncos (9-2) in Week 13 of the NFL season on Sunday Night Football.Beginning with the injury report, the Commanders appear to be welcoming WR Terry McLaurin and S Will Harris back to play in a must-win game. The Broncos, in the meanwhile, appear to be completely healthy, just missing RB JK Dobbins. The Commanders offense will be led by QB Marcus Mariota for the 6th time this season, and the 3rd time at home. The Broncos defense is excellent across the board, featuring Nik Bonitto, Zach Allen, Alex Singleton and more. The pass defense has only allowed 2 TDs to WRs all season, but 4 to TEs, and 3 to RBs. This is where players like Zach Ertz, Ben Sinnott, Jeremy McNichols, and Bill Croskey-Merritt can be utilized. The Commanders defense goes against a shaky Broncos offense led by QB Bo Nix. With Dobbins out, expect RB RJ Harvey to take most of the carries, with the other dangerous players being WRs Troy Franklin and Courtland Sutton. The Commanders are 5.5 point underdogs at home to the Broncos, with an over under of 43.5 points. The Washington Commanders (3-7) go to Madrid to take on the Miami Dolphins (3-7) at 9:30am ET on NFL Network and NFL Plus. This is a must-win game for anyone that believes we still can have a shot at making the playoffs. A loss would end our season. We begin, as we always do, with the injury report for the game. The Commanders are without Jayden Daniels, Terry McLaurin, Drake Jackson, Will Harris, Ale Kaho and Treylon Burks, while both Jordan Magee and Ben Sinnott are questionable for the game. On the other side, just Austin Jackson is missing for Miami, along with Tyreek Hill who has been missing the whole season with injury. The Commanders offense, featuring Marcus Mariota, will play a gettable Miami Dolphins defense that features Bradley Chubb and Minkah Fitzpatrick. How do we exploit this defense? While Deebo Samuel is our main receiving threat at the WR position, Miami actually struggles against TEs and RBs, so this presents a great opportunity for Zach Ertz, Bill Croskey-Merritt, Jeremy McNichols and Chris Rodriguez. The Commanders defense goes against Tua Tagovailoa, De'Von Achane, Jaylen Waddle and this high-potential Dolphins offense that has been inconsistent throughout the season. On this side of the ball, the Commanders are now without Trey Amos (broken fibula) and Daron Payne (1 game suspension). How do we slow down Miami? The Commanders are “road” underdogs by 2.5 points and the over-under is 47.5 points. What is your prediction for this game? The Comment Mailbag features 5 comments. 11.7.25, Kevin Sheehan and Producer Max go around the NFL to preview the upcoming week 10 games.
The Washington Commanders (3-6) host the Detroit Lions (5-3) at Northwest Stadium as Marcus Mariota fills in for Jayden Daniels and tries to keep our season alive. We begin this episode with a quick update on Jayden Daniels dislocated elbow. We received good news on it, with the X-Ray showing no fracture and the MRI showing no ligament damage. We begin the game preview, as we always do, with the injury report for the game. The Commanders injury report sees Jayden Daniels out and Terry McLaurin out once again, but the rest of the team looks good to go. On the other side, Detroit look like they will miss S Kerby Joseph, who leads them in interceptions, but are healthy aside from that. The Commanders offense, featuring Marcus Mariota, will play an underrated Lions defense that features Aidan Hutchinson, Al-Quadin Muhammad, Derrick Barnes, Jack Campbell, Brian Branch, Terrion Arnold and more. How do we exploit this defense? Deebo Samuel is seemingly the only receiving threat, and it's been a while since we've seen Bill Croskey-Merritt and this running game get going. The Commanders defense goes against Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown and this electric Detroit Lions offense that is 2nd in the NFL in points per game. Joe Whitt moves down from the booth to the sideline. What is that going to look like? How do we slow this Lions offense down? The Commanders are home underdogs by 8.5 points and the over-under is 48.5 points. What is your prediction for this game? The Comment Mailbag features 15 comments. Thank you all for the comments!
