What a way to kick off the Mid-Year Retreat! Pastor Nelson brought a message on salvation that cut deep and lifted high at the same time. Before we ever knew we needed saving, God already had a plan. Today's teaching on “My Church & Doubts” reminded us that there is a difference between doubt and disbelief. Doubt is wrestling with questions and uncertainty, while disbelief is the refusal to believe even when truth is evident. We saw throughout Scripture that God is not afraid of our questions, and that believers can bring their doubts honestly before Him.We also learnt that faith does not mean having every answer. There comes a point where knowledge reaches its limit and faith requires a response. God calls us to seek truth sincerely, to ask questions with the right heart, and to remember that the goal is not merely to win arguments, but to win people.Most importantly, we were reminded that doubt should not drive us away from God, but closer to Him. Read, learn, ask questions, speak to wise spiritual leaders, and take your doubts to Jesus. There is grace for the believer who genuinely wants to know and trust God more.

We continued our series with My Church & Sexual Sins.Sex is God's design, and purity is His standard for everyone. Jesus did not only save us from sin, He broke its power over our lives, calling us to honour Him with our bodies as those bought with a price.Sin begins in the mind, so we respond to temptation with truth, refusing to entertain what wars against the soul. Because our bodies belong to the Lord, there are things we cannot carry, consume, or excuse.Victory over sin requires seriousness, devotion, prayer, accountability, wisdom, and structures that help us walk in honour. Whatever your hand finds to do, do it well. Hard work is Christian because it is done unto God, and from it flows a true dignity for labour as we maximise the gifts and talents given to us.The centre of life is not self. God cares for the poor, and giving becomes part of devotion—living as a blessing to others.With this comes discipline. Modesty shapes how money is handled, setting boundaries and consecration. Not everything affordable must be owned, and prosperity must never come at the expense of family.

Faithfulness must show even in little things, including money. Life cannot be defined by what is in the account. There must be more to living than what is in the pocket.Comfort that pulls the heart away from God is dangerous, while hardship that draws one closer is a mercy. True wealth shows in generosity; investing in God's cause and becoming an extension of blessing.As resources increase, trust must remain in God, not money. Relationships must honour Him, prioritising conversation and discernment rather than rushing into physical intimacy.Our attachment patterns also shape how we relate to others. Love must mark the life of the believer. The way we respond to the worst in others reveals our true character, so we train our hearts to see virtue in others and examine vice in ourselves. Since all people are made in God's image, honour becomes the right response. Being blood-bought sets us apart, calling us to esteem others highly and guard our words toward them.Devotion cannot live alongside contradiction. Loving God must show in how we treat people. Acts of devotion must produce fruits of devotion, and the fruit of the Spirit shapes our relationships—friendships, marriage, and community.God's correction restores. We continued on My Church & Devotion.We were reminded that an act of devotion is right thinking. Our thinking powers our living, so we must guard our hearts diligently. God doesn't only desire that we live right, but that we think right; aligning our minds with His Word, because whatever He instructs is wisdom.From right thinking flows right serving. God is holy, set apart and in a class of His own. As His own people, acts of devotion are expected of us. In giving, prayer, and fasting, we engage in priesthood; asking that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.Giving carries spiritual weight. Generosity rises before God and reflects a life of devotion. We give to the poor, to our parents, and to our local church. Acts of priesthood cannot be separated from the life of priesthood.Prayer is the language of the helpless. To neglect prayer is pride. We refuse to pray as those trusting in earthly systems, but we make time for sacrifice and seek God with expectation. We pray for the saints, persecuted believers, and ministry gifts.Fasting humbles us before the Lord. It is worship which is an intentional pause to seek Him and respond in devotion.

A praying church produces praying people, and a Word-centred church produces serious students of Scripture. We provoke one another to good works and train not only for devotion, but for service.Devotion honours the Lord because of who He is. His greatness makes worship logical. We trust in His name above every natural advantage, and when we truly magnify Him, the quality of our worship reflects it.Acts of devotion flow from that understanding—giving, fasting, prayer, right living, right thinking, and serving. We present ourselves to God because He first gave Himself to us.

What a rich and grounding service today We were reminded why discipleship matters and how God uses it to shape our lives.Discipleship happens through teaching. Jesus and the apostles taught consistently, and discipleship begins by conforming the mind to the Word of God. God cares about how we think, because the Word is where real warfare takes place.Discipleship actively trains us to obey Christ in a world that constantly tries to disciple us through culture and information. Church shapes the heart and mind for eternity, and this training happens in real relationships—through proximity, accountability, and availability. Such a grounding service today as we were reminded why Church matters and what God intends it to be. Church begins with Jesus calling people to Himself. The Church is not a building but a people gathered unto Christ, devoted to teaching, fellowship, prayer, and the breaking of bread.God designed community for growth and safety. We gather to know Him, be equipped for His work, and mature through sound doctrine and consistent teaching.Church is not defined by ambience or popularity, but by saved people centred on Christ, growing in truth, accountability, and service—esteeming Jesus alone.

We continued exploring what the Christian life truly looks like, pressing deeper into how it is lived and sustained in Christ.The Christian life is warfare. As soldiers, believers live with a different posture, running to win and giving themselves fully to God's cause under His authority.Life in Christ flows by faith in the Son of God, empowered by the Spirit. The same power that regenerates also sanctifies, freeing us from sin and forming true freedom through grace.

We continued the This Christian Life series with a clear picture of what faith looks like for the believer. Good is defined by what God says, and faith shows not only in what is gained but in what one is willing to lose for Him. A man of faith remains unshaken, with convictions and confessions that do not change with circumstances.The Christian life is a race to be run lawfully, with eyes fixed on Jesus and obedience to God's terms. The Christian life is centered on beholding the beauty of the Lord, just as David desired above all else (Psalm 27:4). The Holy Spirit continually works in believers to reveal the beauty of Christ, a lifelong process called sanctification. Right living flows from right identity; understanding who we are ontologically, saints dead to sin and alive in God, enables us to address sinful behavior properly and apply loving correction when needed. The first reward of seeking and seeing God is not material things, but God Himself. Because God is Spirit, our relationship with Him is not casual or mechanical. Reverence must never be absent when we come before Him.Christianity is not merely practiced outwardly; it is done in the Spirit and by the Spirit. Certain actions can encourage or attract spirit beingsFaith always operates within the will of God. You cannot separate true acts of faith from God's sovereignty and mercy. Faith is not forcing outcomes; faith is trusting God.Faith cannot exist outside the boundaries of God's will. It is not insisting against God's better judgment but resting in His wisdom. Therefore, faith confessions are not declarations of what we want, but declarations of what God has clearly revealed He wants for us.

A good year is defined by God's will, not circumstances. A year is good when the will of God prospers. As believers, we should allow God shape how we live and how we think. We do this be following God's commands.God's commands are protective boundaries, not restrictions. God's instructions are given to preserve us from error and destruction we often cannot see. What feels like limitation is actually divine protection.We exist to serve God, not the other way around. As the sheep of His pasture, our lives are oriented Godward. We continued our teaching series and Pastor Nelson taught on “Jesus The Word”The Word didn't just start existing at John 1:1 and He also wasn't just quiet all through the Old Testament.The Word has been existing since before time began!When the Bible speaks of Jesus as The Word, what it encapsulates is the eternality of the word, the creating power of The Word, the revelatory nature of The Word. Nothing that is created can hold every other thing that was created. It has to be that which is eternal that must hold everything. He is the one by whom every other thing, visible and invisible, angels and humans were made.Jesus is God. It is by Him all other things were made and it is through Jesus we see the Father!

A God you don't truly know you cannot accurately worship. Being in the Spirit is not a mood or an emotional experience—if you only chase feelings, you will miss Him. If the Spirit is in you, then you are in the Spirit. Worship is anything that shows obeisance, honor, and that your life is lived for Him alone. Songs are not the primary thing, because the Lord hears your heart before He hears your words.Jesus taught that the man in devotion matters more than the act of devotion. Devotion can be seen, and posture in worship reflects it. If you are born again and you come before God and say “Father, I love You,” that is worship in spirit and in truth.
