Principalities and Powers:Spiritual Warfare in the Present AgeEphesians 6:10-18 | Colossians 2:13-15 | Galatians 1:4 | Hebrews 6:4-5 | Ephesians 3:10The cross was D-Day. The return of Christ will be V-Day. We live in the gap. At the cross, Christ did not strip the enemy of his weapons, but He did minimize their power. The principalities and powers still wield temptation, deception, accusation, and affliction, but they have been publicly humiliated and their authority over those in Christ has been broken. They have not yet been utterly destroyed. They remain active, defeated but still fighting, until the King returns. Kingdom victory in this present age comes from the combination of three texts. Galatians 1:4 tells us where we stand: delivered from this present evil age. Hebrews 6:5 tells us what we taste: the powers of the age to come. Ephesians 6:10-18 tells us how we fight: clothed in the whole armor of God. Positionally we are seated above the powers in Christ; practically we must enforce that position through warfare. Refuse the unspoken truce. Put on the whole armor of God. Stand firm in the strength of Christ until the King returns to finish what the cross began.---------SUBSCRIBE ▶️ Receive our latest videos:https://www.youtube.com/c/PastorSteve...ABOUTPastor, author and speaker Steve Berger is known for his straight talk in dealing with various hot-topic cultural issues that many pastors avoid. Can Satan directly speak to the minds of believers? This is one of the most urgent questions Christians wrestle with, and in this episode of Marked by Grace, Pastor Heath Lambert walks through what the Bible actually teaches about the devil's access to the hearts and minds of those who belong to Christ. In this episode we talk with our most frequent guest, Dr. Ronn Johnson. We discuss how the ancient and early church spoke on, dealt with, and developed the idea of Trinitarian doctrine.Dr. Ronn Johnson has a Ph.D. in Bible Exposition from Dallas Theological Seminary. His dissertation on the created gods of the Old Testament (“The Old Testament Background for Paul's Principalities and Powers”) provided him the opportunity to research the divine council worldview of the Hebrew Bible and apply it to New Testament exegesis. Ronn has taught Bible and theology courses at the college level for over 20 years, has pastored two churches in the Minneapolis area for fifteen years. He is also a sitting board member at the Dr. Michael S. Heiser Foundation and is also the Biblical Scholar for the Divine Council Worldview Podcast.Dr. Ronn has been known to ruffle a few evangelical feathers. He consistently urges Christians to remember and consider the ancient worldview of the Scriptures. He emphasizes that it does not always align with modern Western ideas that have been handed down through tradition, denominational creeds, or church statements. This is why we love and listen to him.Check out Dr. Ronn on the Divine Council Worldview Podcasthttps://open.spotify.com/show/4UdkIcEWNTw9EoniNWSa4eConnect with us:Social: Instagram.com/behindthecurtainpcYoutube.com/btcmysteriesTikTok.com/btcmysteriesEmail: behindthecurtainpc@gmail.comMusic in this episode: Opening & Closing track"80's Synth" By AlexHulgin

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. – Ephesians 6:12
The apostle Peter pens an epistle to the early church in large part because they are trying to navigate what it means to be faithful and political in the world. They are contending against the Powers and Principalities and Politics of their day and they want to know which way to go. In chapter 2 Peter is in the middle of exhorting the faithful community to resist the empire by imitating the Lord who became Servant of all. He writes of how servants and slaves are free, right now, to imitate the cruciform way of Jesus. He describes the call to remember that Jesus is Lord and Caesar is not. Peter is preaching politics. A politics that was preached to him by Jesus. “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” What could be more political than that? And so, having received a particular political witness, Peter punctuates his epistle with the claim that the church will have to live as strangers in a strange land. In order to follow Jesus they/we will necessarily look very different from the world...
In the afternoon session; Pastor Nelson taught on the truth that the gospel is the power of God unto salvation; living, active, and transformative. Miracles are not the end; they are signs pointing us to Christ. That when we come before God, we bring nothing of our own merit. From the Day of Atonement to the brazen serpent to the Passover lamb, God has always been the One working proactively for our redemption, and He has done the same through Christ.Through His sacrifice, the power of sin has been broken. The hold the enemy once had is gone. We have been made alive, delivered, and set free.Principalities and powers have been disarmed. Satan has fallen like lightning. In Christ, we now walk in authority to trample on every power of the enemy, assured that nothing shall harm us. Listen and be blessed as you do so.

Daniel's vision: Here we come to understand to some degree, metaphors and symbolism. God allowed Daniel to see destruction coming upon his people and his church. Principalities and Powers (Government leaders and church leaders) are corrupt and take advantage of the righteous people of God by forcing or compelling them to believe a lie and not the truth of God's desire for humanity. Daniel saw the destruction and calamity that was to destroy many; it was too much; he fainted. Look at the world today. Daniel saw trouble, tribulation, wickedness, deceit, lies, etc., coming upon the people caused by corrupt spiritual and secular leaders. as it is upon the world today.
Welcome to Day 2831 of Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom – Theology Thursday – J R R Tolkien's Theological Imagination: Rebellion, Redemption, and the Divine Pattern Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2831 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2831 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Our current series of Theology Thursday lessons is written by theologian and teacher John Daniels. I have found that his lessons are short, easy to understand, doctrinally sound, and applicable to all who desire to learn more of God's Word. John's lessons can be found on his website theologyinfive.com. Today's lesson is titled: J R R Tolkien's Theological Imagination: Rebellion, Redemption, and the Divine Pattern. J R R Tolkien believed storytelling was a sacred act. As a devout Catholic, his fiction was shaped not by overt allegory but by deep theological truths. Through the concept of subcreation, Tolkien affirmed that humans, made in the image of the Creator, have the capacity to craft secondary worlds that echo divine realities. While The Lord of the Rings is not an allegory, its themes align powerfully with Christian theology and the Divine Council Worldview (DCWV), a framework in Scripture that speaks of God ruling among other spiritual beings and assigning nations to them after Babel. The first segment is: The Powers and Principalities of Arda. Tolkien's legendarium includes a clear divine hierarchy. At the top is Eru Ilúvatar, the One, creator of all. He is the source of the Ainulindalë-the- the Music of the Ainur-through which the world is first imagined. Even when Melkor introduces discord into the harmony, seeking to dominate the music with his own themes, Eru responds not with destruction but with deeper orchestration. He tells Melkor that all the discord he weaves will only serve to make the final symphony more profound. Nothing, not even rebellion, lies outside Eru's ultimate sovereignty. This reflects a vision of God's authority that is both supreme and redemptive, where even the schemes of the wicked are ultimately turned to the fulfillment of divine purpose. Below Ilúvatar are the Ainur, powerful spiritual beings created before the shaping of the world. Among them, the Valar function as guardian spirits of Arda, similar in structure to the Divine Council of Psalm 82. The Maiar, lesser but still mighty beings, assist the Valar. Gandalf and Sauron both belong to this order. Just as in Divine Council Worldview, where God delegates spiritual authority to lesser elohim, Tolkien's mythos reflects a structure where divine beings are given spheres of responsibility. Yet, like in Scripture, rebellion corrupts this order, setting the stage for cosmic conflict. In the end, those spirits who persist in rebellion are not merely restrained but ultimately removed forever from the renewed creation. Their fate reflects the biblical destiny of the fallen sons of God, whose judgment ensures that the restored order will no longer be corrupted by their presence. The second segment is: Melkor, Sauron, and the Corruption of Divine Authority Melkor, later known as Morgoth, the mightiest of the Ainur, mirrors the rebel gods in biblical theology. His pride leads him to seek domination rather than stewardship. Morgoth's rebellion reflects the cosmic insurrection of Psalm 82 and Isaiah 14, spiritual beings grasping for power they were never meant to wield. Sauron, his chief lieutenant, becomes a second-tier deceiver who continues Morgoth's dark legacy. Like the sons of God in Genesis 6 and Deuteronomy 32, Sauron imposes false worship and enslaves others, manipulating through fear and domination. The rings of power function almost like tokens of delegated but twisted authority, tools meant for order, turned toward control. The third segment is: Sacred Geography and Territorial Spirits Middle-earth is shaped by geography charged with meaning. From the spiritual corruption of Mordor to the divine echoes of Lothlórien and the exile of Númenor, Tolkien paints a world where places are more than political. They are spiritual battlegrounds. This resonates with the DCWV understanding of cosmic geography, the biblical idea that certain regions are under the influence of rebellious divine beings. Tolkien's world shows that the land itself can groan under the weight of spiritual oppression or be hallowed by divine presence. The Fourth Segment is: Free Will, Providence, and the Role of Mortals Tolkien's theology insists that free will matters, even in a world shaped by fate. This mirrors the DCWV framework in which God's imagers, both divine and human, are granted real choice. The fall of Melkor and Sauron is not deterministic, nor is Frodo's endurance guaranteed. Instead, history is a tapestry of choices woven into divine purposes. Even Gollum, an unlikely figure, plays a providential role through his disobedience. As Elrond says, “Even the very wise cannot see all ends.” God remains sovereign in Tolkien's world, but human (and hobbit) agency is honored. At the same time, Tolkien also shows that Ilúvatar does not remain distant. When free will threatens to unravel the entire order of creation-such as with the rebellion of Númenor-Eru steps in directly. That rebellion was not born in a vacuum. It was Sauron, functioning as a kind of Satan figure, who seduced the Númenóreans with promises of godhood, twisting their fear of death into a desire for domination. Under his influence, they turned against the Valar and Ilúvatar himself. In response, Ilúvatar reshapes the world, removes Valinor from its physical reach, and ensures the continuation of his plan. Divine intervention is rare, but never absent, reflecting a theology where human freedom is real, yet ultimately guided by a higher will. The fifth segment is: Christ Figures and Divine Reversal Tolkien avoids a single Christ figure, but the roles of prophet, priest, and king are reflected across characters. Gandalf, as a Maia, is sent back as a resurrected figure who guides and speaks truth. Frodo, the suffering servant, bears the burden of evil though it scars him permanently. Aragorn, the hidden king, returns to heal and rule with justice. Their combined roles reflect a mosaic of messianic themes, aligned with DCWV's understanding that God's rule is ultimately restored through His chosen representative. The sixth Segment is: The Redemption of the Noldor One of the most profound theological arcs in Tolkien's legendarium is the redemption of the Noldor. These High Elves, once dwellers in the light of Valinor, chose rebellion. Under Fëanor, they defied the Valar, left the Blessed Realm without permission, and pursued Morgoth in pride and vengeance. Their exile into Middle-earth was a direct consequence of their disobedience, and their long suffering across the First, Second, and Third Ages reflects the cost of that choice. And yet, by the time of The Lord of the Rings, the story shifts. Elrond, Galadriel, and others of Noldorin descent are no longer defined by rebellion but by wisdom, sacrifice, and faithful stewardship. Galadriel, who once sought dominion and glory, now resists the temptation of the One Ring. Elrond becomes a healer, counselor, and protector. Their final return to Valinor is not a defeat or escape, but a homecoming long delayed. It is the restoration of exiles whose hearts have been refined by ages of sorrow and service. This echoes the biblical pattern of return from exile, of forgiveness extended to those who wandered far but endured. Their story is not one of perfection, but of transformation. In the end, the Noldor who return do so not in pride, but in humility. And Valinor, far from rejecting them, welcomes them home. In Conclusion Tolkien didn't write sermons, but he did what theology often fails to do. He made us feel the weight of glory, the darkness of evil, and the staggering grace of redemption. His myth tells the same cosmic story as Scripture: creation, rebellion, judgment, mercy, and restoration. By embedding DCWV themes into his secondary world, Tolkien baptized the imagination and helped countless readers glimpse the true story beneath all stories. For further study, consider these Discussion Questions How does Tolkien's portrayal of Eru Ilúvatar compare to the biblical view of God's sovereignty, especially in response to rebellion? In what ways does the story of the Noldor reflect biblical themes of exile, refinement, and return? How does Tolkien depict the relationship between free will and divine providence across different characters and events? What parallels can be drawn between Sauron's temptation of Númenor and the biblical role of Satan in stirring rebellion? How does Tolkien's treatment of spiritual rebellion and ultimate judgment align with the destiny of fallen divine beings in Scripture? The great Robert Farrar Capon believed that the greatest challenge facing the church wasn't questions about the afterlife but rather our present dullness. In short, he believed we lost our astonishment. He said that the Good News preached in churches is no longer life-changing, only after-life changing. And yes, the promise is that one day God will breathe life into our old dry bones, but the promise is also that God is doing it right now. The reason the Gospel took hold after Easter is because the earliest Christians lived according to the future in the present, the promise that dry bones can live now and later. Those disciples refused to settle for anything dry. The Power and the Principalities, particularly those that perpetrate injustice, tried to stop the Gospel because in threatened to upend the status quo. But God breathed new life into the church. Then and now Christians are those whose hearts are on fire, who are continually astonished by what God did and does, and have witnessed their own bones be given new life. Christians are just people who have go down into and come out of the pit.
In this episode, Mike and Tim ask a provocative question: Is "Christ is King" becoming blasphemy? They begin by analyzing recent political rhetoric, specifically a speech by Pete Hegseth, to discuss how biblical language can be hijacked for coercive power rather than reflecting the character of Jesus. The hosts argue that proclaiming theological truths while living in opposition to the way of Jesus is a distortion of "faith and politics." The conversation then shifts to a deep exploration of the Lord's Prayer and the petition, "Your Kingdom come." Mike and Tim unpack the concept of the "anti-kingdom," explaining that Jesus preached the Kingdom of God in enemy-occupied territory. They explore "theology" regarding the "powers and principalities," looking at the Divine Council in the Psalms, the "heavenly host" in Genesis, and how the biblical authors understood the spiritual forces behind structural evil and injustice. This isn't just about ancient myths; it is about understanding "the role of the church in society" when facing systemic corruption. By contrasting the "cruciformity" of the Gospel with the power dynamics of empire, the guys offer a framework for "navigating cultural challenges" with wisdom. They highlight that true "Christianity" recognizes the spiritual battle at play—not just in individuals, but in cultural patterns and ideologies. As the hosts discuss the "seen and unseen" realms, they emphasize the importance of prayer and "justice" in a world that is both beautiful and broken. We encourage and would love discussion as we pursue these complex topics, so please engage the conversation on Facebook and Instagram. You say they look like arks after the sea's dried up, I say they look like pirate ships, and I think of that walk in the valley where J said, You don't believe in God? And I said, No. I believe in this connection we all have to nature, to each other, to the universe. And she said, Yeah, God. Hi Everyone! I'm so glad to be back on the Pod after a few weeks. I am so grateful the Lord decided to use me to speak this week on family and siblings in Christ. The Lord has led me recently to reflect on family and how we treat one another. During specific times of year holidays, birthdays , and family functions we get defensive and believe we have to be on defense ; when in reality we need to not look at what they are doing to us, but we are currently dealing with internally. God has convicted me on how I speak to family, love them, and even intercede for them. How I am treating my siblings in Christ and if I am calling them higher or casting a stone? This week is so important to reflect before we really go into 2026 how we need to love the ones around us better but also intercede for those who may being going through spiritual warfare before they even come face to face with us. Mike Slater confronts the spiritual dimensions of global Christian persecution, drawing from Ephesians 6:12 to expose how unseen "principalities and powers" manifest in earthly systems of oppression, authoritarian control, extremist ideologies, and societal rejection. This episode explores the ongoing realities in the world's most hostile regions, including North Korea—where faith can lead to immediate execution or labor camps—alongside escalating pressures in places like Somalia, Nigeria, Sudan, Eritrea, and others marked by violence, discrimination, and restrictions on worship. Viewers are invited to grapple with these truths, recognize the spiritual warfare behind the headlines, and consider the call to vigilance, prayer, and faithful response in light of Christ's ultimate authority. The Iron and the Clay (Part Two): Government, Principalities, and the Coming Clash Between Christ and Antichrist In this extended continuation of The Iron and the Clay, Jacob Prasch expounds Daniel 2 to address the biblical tension between submission to civil authority and obedience to God, showing how political power, religious systems, technology, and economics are all influenced by unseen spiritual principalities. Moving between Scripture (Acts 4, Romans 13, Daniel 10–12, Revelation 12–13) and contemporary events in Europe, Britain, Israel, and the West, the teaching argues that modern persecution of Christians, censorship, and moral inversion mirror the conditions of pagan Rome and foreshadow the final Antichrist system. Prasch traces how the “iron and clay” kingdom reflects a fractured Greco-Roman world struggling to hold together through authoritarian control, false religion, and counterfeit unity, while warning against deception in the church, triumphalist “kingdom now” theology, and false assurances of escape from tribulation. The message culminates in hope: though many battles will be lost, the war is already won—Christ, the stone cut without human hands, will crush every earthly kingdom and establish a reign that will never end. In this episode, Buck sits down with Father Turbo Qualls for a wide-ranging and sobering conversation about spiritual warfare, ecumenism, and the modern pressure on the Orthodox to trade truth for comfort. Beginning with reflections from St. Mary of Egypt and the Synaxis of Hagia Sophia, the discussion moves into how external forces — political, cultural, and spiritual — have repeatedly targeted the Church, often in ways that are subtle, coordinated, and unseen. Father Turbo revisits a past conversation with Buck about the COVID era, exploring how major disruptions in Church life coincided with key feasts, fasts, and liturgical moments — not as a matter of human conspiracy, but as part of a deeper "powers and principalities" reality that operates beyond individual actors. Daniel's Iron and Clay: Government, Principalities, and God's Hand in the Rise and Fall of Nations (Part One) In this first part of The Iron and the Clay, the teaching opens in Book of Daniel 2:21, unfolding a sweeping biblical framework for understanding history, politics, and prophecy through the lens of divine sovereignty. Drawing from Daniel, Zechariah, Job, Revelation, and modern history, the message explains how earthly events—wars, elections, governments, and global upheavals—are reflections of spiritual conflicts in the heavenlies involving angelic and demonic principalities. The study identifies three forces God uses to restrain evil: human government, the convicting work of the Holy Spirit, and the church functioning as salt and light—and warns what happens when all three fail. Tracing examples from ancient Israel to World War I, World War II, the Holocaust, the rebirth of Israel, and contemporary geopolitics, the teaching argues that God allows even evil rulers to rise in order to accomplish prophetic purposes, calling believers not to political obsession but to spiritual discernment, intercessory prayer, and biblical wisdom in understanding the times. This teaching was originally taught on RTN TV's "Word for the Weekend" on February 15, 2025 and can be found on RTN and Moriel's YouTube and ministry channels. The holy Scriptures, from beginning to end, are filled with mentions and descriptions of the Heavenly Host: not to believe in angels is not to believe in the Bible. In the heavens they behold the face of God, eternally hymning His glory. They are intimately involved with mankind as well: an angel is appointed guardian over every nation, and over every individual Christian. The Archangels Michael and Gabriel, whom we especially commemorate today along with all the other bodiless powers, have served as messengers to man. "Michael" means "Who is like God?";"Gabriel" means "God is mighty." Gabriel especially was appointed to announce the coming of Christ in the flesh. There is no reckoning the number of the Heavenly Host, though we know that they are a great multitude. They are ranked in nine orders, called Thrones, Cherubim, Seraphim, Dominions, Powers, Authorities, Principalities, Archangels and Angels. "Angel" means "herald" or "messenger" and is properly applied only to those who serve as messengers from God to man; but the name is often applied to the entire host of bodiless powers. Though bodiless, the angels are finite in knowledge, extension and power. The angel Lucifer, once the highest of them all, desired to be like God Himself, and was cast forever from the presence of God, along with countless others who followed him. These we now know as Satan and the demons. (Needless to say, they are not commemorated today).

Read Online“Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” John 1:51In Heaven, we will see all things as God sees them. That full perspective will be beyond glorious. And among the many things that will amaze us from the perspective of Heaven is the incredibly powerful ways that the celestial beings participate in the bringing forth of the Kingdom of God. The Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels and Guardian Angels all cooperate with God's grace in ways similar to how every member of an orchestra works together to produce a single piece of beautiful music. God is the conductor, but these celestial beings participate in the grand fulfillment of the will of God, acting as living instruments of His divine grace.Today's feast honors three of the great archangels mentioned in Scripture: Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. The Archangel Michael is described as a protector in the Old Testament Book of Daniel and as one who does battle with satan in the Books of Revelation and Jude. In Revelation, Michael casts satan out of Heaven along with the other fallen angels. The Archangel Gabriel is spoken of also in the Book of Daniel as one who interprets Daniel's vision. In the New Testament, he is identified as the one who appears to the high priest Zechariah while Zechariah is offering sacrifice in the temple. In that appearance, Gabriel revealed to Zechariah that his wife would have a child, even though she was advanced in years. Gabriel is perhaps best known as the one sent to the Blessed Virgin Mary to reveal to her that she will become the mother of the Savior of the World. Lastly, the Archangel Raphael is referred to in the Old Testament Book of Tobit and is said to have been sent to bring healing to Tobit's eyes.As we honor these three archangels, we can be certain that they are three of a countless number of other angelic beings who cooperate with God, bringing forth His grace and His will into our world. Try to imagine that profound truth. Some angelic beings build up the Kingdom of God by devoting their existence to the perpetual worship of God before His throne. The highest of these are the Seraphim. Other angelic beings build up the Kingdom by bringing forth God's grace and truth to us, intervening in our lives in accord with God's will. These are especially the guardian angels. The archangels, three of whom we honor today, especially have the task of communicating to us the most important messages and graces from God. Reflect, today, upon the glorious reality of the whole host of the celestial beings. Specifically call upon the mediation of these three celestial beings whose names we know, Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, as well as upon the mediation of our guardian angels and all others celestial beings. By doing this, we not only entrust ourselves to their loving care, but we also make an act of faith in God by expressing our belief that God has chosen to use these celestial beings to bring forth His Kingdom. By themselves, angels are powerless to act. But since they act only in unison with the will of God, their mediation is as powerful as the grace of God, since it is God Who works through them. Acknowledge them today, call upon their mediation and profess your faith in the glorious work that they do to build up God's Kingdom. Most glorious Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, please do come to my aid. I entrust myself, my family, our Church and the entire world to your loving mediation. Please bring forth God's grace into our lives, communicate God's Word and His holy Will, protect us from all harm and bring healing to those in need. Angels of God, pray for us.
